Brief History of Amelia N. Rolshen Esq.

Amelia's parents are hard working eel fisher-folk, strange only for their heritage. Both Bevris and Shelva Rolshen wanted better for their only daughter however. A bit of a frail child from birth, the hard work of eel fishing, and the smell, ill suited her. She however was of a keen mind, had sharp instincts about people, and was blessed with enticing looks as she grew older. Amelia was an excellent student, and became fascinated by the Six River Freedoms as a young woman. This fascination eventually grew into a passion for law and all things legal.

Spending nearly all of their savings, Amelia's aging parents sent her to Law school, where she excelled, graduating near the top of her class. She worked civil contract law for a while, making ends meet. She must have impressed, as a year or so after she started practicing law, she receiving an offer to join the prestigious firm of First & Basil as a junior partner. She has recently made full partner and moved from civil contract law to criminal defense, as there is no shortage of clients given the state of things in Mivon lately.

Magic Items

Hypnotic Tattoo
Aura faint enchantment CL 1st
Slot none; Price 900 gp; Weight

Description
This arabesque tattoo accentuates the bearer’s movements. If the tattoo is visible, the bearer gains a +2 circumstance bonus on Perform (dance) checks.

When the bearer uses a Perform skill or bardic performance, she can choose a creature within 90 feet that she can see and that can see her hypnotic tattoo. That creature takes a –2 penalty on Perception and Sense Motive checks while the bearer performs. This is a mind-affecting effect. The bearer can change the target of this effect as a free action on her turn.

Headband of Social Competence
Aura faint divination; CL 1st
Slot headband; Price 1,000 gp; Weight —

Description
This simple yet elegant silver headband mentally warns the wearer before she commits a social misstep, which includes any action that would increase the DCs of Diplomacy checks to alter the attitudes of those around her or worsen the attitude of a person that the wearer considers very important. This effect functions similarly to that of a phylactery of faithfulness, except no contemplation is required; the headband simply alerts the wearer of the consequences before she can perform the action.

Kitharodian Pen
Aura faint transmutation; CL 1st
Slot none; Price 720 gp; Weight

Description
The Kitharodian pen is an ink pen that produces its own ink and never needs to be refilled. The user or last person to touch the pen can speak a command word to cause it to begin taking dictation, recording all words audible from its square. The pen has a Perception modifier of +0 and can write in all languages but does not translate or enable its user to read what it has written. If held in hand, the user can relax while the pen writes, seeming to be taking the dictation, but the pen ceases to move of its own accord as long as the user intentionally attempts to control its movements. The pen writes as quickly as the words are spoken, but if multiple creatures speak over each other, each speaker must attempt a Charisma check each round and the pen transcribes only the words of the speaker with the highest result. A different command word causes the pen to cease writing. The pen transcribes for up to 1 hour per day in 10-minute increments.

Sleeves of Many Garments
Aura faint illusion; CL 1st
Slot wrist; Price 200 gp; Weight 1 lb.

Description
These translucent cloth tubes easily fit over their wearer’s arms. The wearer of these sleeves can, when she slips them on, choose to transform the appearance of her current garments into any other nonmagical set of clothing. These new clothes fit her perfectly and are always clean and mended unless she specifically designates otherwise. When she removes the sleeves, her clothes revert to their original form.
