Female Samsaran Inactive

Go Ollie.

I'm going to miss this game. It was a unique flavor that you don't usually get. ... Also kind of cool to feel some real resolution though. So many games just kind of peter out, unfinished. (Like LOST.)

Thanks for the cool little story. Very fun.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis bakes a dozen pies for the goblin that let them in... and takes them to him in person, telling him that he doesn't have to share if he doesn't want to. :)

Female Samsaran Inactive

Sorry for stealing the thunder like that guys... I thought they were going to fight us.

Alis sees that Smaxx is eager to proceed, and waves him forward. She is unable to speak (without causing damage) until the spell's duration is expended. She stands outside the cave while the others go inside so she won't accidentally hurt anyone.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis looks sad, shrugs, and then screams in an otherworldly voice.

She gets as many of the guards in her 15-foot cone as she can (without letting the area of effect into the cave where it might harm the boy), and casts Sonic Scream.

SS Damage: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 2) = 9 Sonic Damage, DC 16 Reflex Save for half

Spell lasts for 7 rounds, during which I can scream two more times, with diminishing damage. Text of spell HERE.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis walks out to talk to the guards.

Hello. We're here to take the human boy home. You should probably stand aside so that you don't get hurt. We know that *you* didn't actually want to kidnap a human child, right? It was just an interspecies misunderstanding, and we'll get him and take him home, and no one else has to die.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Female Samsaran Inactive

Ollie, are you okay enough to wait here for a little while? I might need to talk to these guards.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Unwilling to take Ollie into possible danger until he recovers, Alis asks, Can someone go in there and make sure it isn't another trap?

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis comforts the invisible goblin boy the best she can without being able to see him. There, there. It will be okay. You did very well, and were very brave. It is never easy to have to fight.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis casts Magic Missile again

MM Damage: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 1) + 4 = 13

Caster Level check to overcome Spell Resistance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Female Samsaran Inactive

Unsure whether the onlookers will join the battle, and uncertain about where the stolen boy is, Alis keeps her more devastating area-effect spells for later.

Cold Iron will work best against this enemy she informs her comrades, and, shaken, steps back until her back is against a nearby tree (if there is one, and if that doesn't take her into the ring of fey onlookers) before unleashing magic missiles at the creature, hoping it isn't immune to magic:

MM Damage: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 3) + 4 = 16

The tree is just for flavor... kind of an artificial backbone to make her feel safer and able to fight back, but unnecessary if it doesn't work with the scene.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Happy Thanksgiving. :)

Female Samsaran Inactive

Yes, thank you. It's been fun. :) I'm going to miss Ollie.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Knowledge:Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Knowledge:Planes: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Knowledge:Nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Female Samsaran Inactive

okay.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Leveled:

Got one 0 level and one 4th level spell
(prestidigitation, ball lightning, and because I can now cast 4th level spells 2 other bonus spells get added to the list as well)

Added the 4th level ability score bonus to dex, which raised all dex-based things by one.

BAB went up by 1 and Will saves as well.

Added 4 HP (half plus one, correct?)

Added skill points to diplomacy, perception, intimidate, linguistics (sylvan), and bluff.

Female Samsaran Inactive

I will try tomorrow, but I might not have time to level till Friday. (Sorry... don't mean to delay everyone.)

Female Samsaran Inactive

I thought it was cool of her to warn us... and it is probably wise to be sensitive about things like that, which can trigger really bad memories for some. But also agree... great story so far, and enjoying figuring it out.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis responds to Busara:

He's got illusion magic all over him. Honestly, I don't even know if that *is* the boy, and if it is, we probably can't see what he is scared of. I'm going to keep concentrating on figuring out what the magic is... be careful.

Alis doesn't take any action other than continuing to concentrate on the detect magic to see if more details will be revealed with longer study.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Don't worry honey, I'm not going to hurt you. This is a spell that only touches me.

She continues.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

She has no idea that the boy (or not-boy) is dissembling, and doesn't question it.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis wonders why the boy isn't coming out, but then sees him nodding to someone behind her, and realizes that someone must have cautioned him not to move. ... They might be right, which was too bad. It would have been so nice if they could just leave and take him home.

... But of course that was unlikely. There could be a spell or trap that would harm him even with the door open. She casts detect magic, and decides she may as well move forward to help. If something goes wrong, she'd rather have it affect her than the boy. She walks forward to the cage, but doesn't touch it or tell the boy to get out until she knows whether it is magical or not.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis casts Open on the door of the cage, thinking that it might not work, but can't hurt to try. She knows she can step up her game if the cantrip doesn't work. :)

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis pets Azeban, glad that he is riding with her again. Much as she liked carrying Ollie and his conversation, she just felt like something was missing without Azeban.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis keeps an eye out for trouble.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Female Samsaran Inactive

I'm good to continue.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Agreed. I pray he is still alive.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis is glad that Ollie stood up for himself, and that the Goblins made some positive steps, but now that they have a lead on the missing child, she is anxious to follow it.

Thank you, Chief. You are very wise, and we appreciate your help. We must leave now to rescue the human child, but we wish you all well, and look forward to working with you in the future.

Before they leave she also finds the goblin that she promised pie, and tells him that she remembers that she owes him pie, but that she can't deliver them until after they face the faeries. Then she follows Busara and Ollie as they lead the way that they should go.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis does not speak, but silently encourages Ollie to stand up for himself.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Soap and pickles. :) Aw. He's cute. ... And good. :)

Female Samsaran Inactive

I figure we're going to have to fight the faeries.

I like the game... it's cool feeling like there are really other options besides killing everything, and that battle doesn't have to be inevitable. That part is really refreshing. I also like Ollie. Cool, fun addition.

However, I don't know if everyone feels similarly... I know there is a lot of talking, and I have been doing a lot of it. Not sure how to balance it more for the familiars to do more. Smaxx was awesome intimidating people, and maybe when we're dealing with faeries later the flying will really come in handy, etc. I don't know. Seems hard to give everyone opportunities, or know their strengths or how to give them an opening like in a normal party... if that makes sense.

That doesn't mean I don't like the game, at all. I just worry that I'm not doing enough to make it fun for everyone.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Oh, sorry. Didn't notice that it was a follow-up question. :)

Female Samsaran Inactive

Azeban, you should roll a knowledge check of some kind. I bet you have a chance at it.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis responds to Gibgub's gesture by joining the group standing with the chief.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis wants to let this play out, and for Ollie to have a chance to have the experience he needs to talk it out with the others, but she watches closely, and if anyone responds to Ollie's opinion with physical harm, she will step in.

Perception to keep an eye on the mood of the crowd: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Female Samsaran Inactive

It's okay to be afraid, Ollie, but you need to feel the fear and do the right thing anyway. That's how you learn to be a good person. Maybe some other people agree with you, but they are also scared. If you speak up, then they will have a chance to agree with you, even though they are less brave. ... And we'll be right here to help if anything goes wrong.

Female Samsaran Inactive

If it is alright with Ollie, it is okay with me.

Before everyone goes to bed, since she has so many spell slots left at the end of the day, Alis casts Dream Feast on Gibgub, Ollie, and the rest of the party (if they allow it, of course).

Female Samsaran Inactive

Where is the human child?

Not trying to avoid the story... this is great stuff. But Alis would be anxious about that.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Female Samsaran Inactive

Getting a cue from Busara, Alis tries to sweet talk the chief:

Oh mighty and wise chief, we come before you today to beg for your help in finding a little human boy that is important to us. We are willing to trade with you for things that you need, though we only have humble things like magical healing, mending, or fortune-telling to offer. Or food, perhaps. We have lots of pie.

We seek to restore the young boy and to prevent any violence between the human and the goblin tribes, for which, O Chief, we are even willing to offer you free tattoo pictures for your whole tribe if you desire. All we ask in return is the location of the human boy and humbly ask that there be no further kidnappings.

Alis pulls the top of her shirt down over her shoulder to show one of her tattoos (just a picture... no writing), so the chief can see what kind of pictures he could get as well.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis waits for Gibgub to give the okay before talking to the chief. She also looks over at Busara to see if she wants to try some healing.

Female Samsaran Inactive

That's cool if you guys *want* to be silent, but I feel like I have been railroading to keep things going, so speak up if you want to do something else... or just do it.

Female Samsaran Inactive

We also have two different courses of action posted in gameplay... do some of the familiars want to chime in so we can decide one way or another?

Female Samsaran Inactive

That sounds fun. Let's do it. :)

Female Samsaran Inactive

Busara rolled a pretty sweet perception roll earlier... did she notice anything that could help us tactically here?

What do you guys think? If we go to the chief we might be able to stop the fey influence over him and heal him, and that might stop Dindob--?

Or, we go fight Dindob and stop him, then talk to the chief to make sure it stops permanently... which would also get more people involved in the story, which seems needed as well.

And then, of course, we still have to track down the kidnapped boy, but that's probably second chair to stopping the kidnappings entirely.

Whichever we do, should we leave Ollie here (for now) to make sure he is safe?

Other thoughts/ideas?

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis hangs her head. They were apparently too late for diplomacy. She thanks Gibgub, nodding at her advice, and then turns to the rest of the group. I've failed. I tried to get the boy back before he was hurt, but it looks like we are past that. We're going to have to fight anyway. What do you guys suggest?

Female Samsaran Inactive

Greetings, Wise Gibgub. We seek the return of the human child. We are willing to offer trade goods (including pie if you like pie), or to attempt to heal the chief, or to talk about other things that we might be able to help the tribe with. We do not seek war with your tribe; we only seek to get the child back safely.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35

Female Samsaran Inactive

No worries. Thanks for letting us know. :)

Female Samsaran Inactive

I think that Ollie only whispered the information about which was good and bad to Busara, so we wouldn't know. Probably should wait for her to answer.

Female Samsaran Inactive

To Azeban:
I will be as careful as possible, but speed is also a factor in finding the child, and is worth some risk. I fear that if we just fought our way in, we would find the child dead. ... And thank you. What a great idea about the tattoos. That may be another thing that I could offer in exchange for the child's life. I should have thought of that. I'm so glad to have you around. Her thoughts radiate love and appreciation.

Female Samsaran Inactive

So, did you want some cherry pies just for you, or should I just deliver them to the whole village?

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

Female Samsaran Inactive

Alis follows the goblin.

Female Samsaran Inactive

Will you take us to the chief so we can talk to him?
