Immune to a lot, but still vulnerable to curses, divination, insanity (too late :p ), word spells, and worst: compulsions

Between the strain of channelling Birdsong, defying ascending pretender to Dream and receiving full backlash of Abnaki's last word, Aisling's personality burst into many.

The original, retrieval agent of the church, quiet, but full of faith, action oriented, quiet, withdrawn even turns even more inward. His dark combat clothes suit him perfectly, but he gets the hood now, very similar to how Gabriel appears when he has to be in public eye. Everything but the mission fades into the background. Action comes first, things to do, tasks...not people. This new withdrawn Aisling runs in the weeks hiding in the dream through various personalities, defetist Ashling, cowardly, slinking Aishroud, depressed Aislow as the mocking names of his former self. Aislum (Asylum) it thought of itself at some point with narrowly avoided horror of the Moon, reliving the inquisitors and the death of his group, supressing gasps in the darkness, before it's eyes opened wide, the heart quieted and it knew - it is Aislune, he found the name Luna in the ancient lore referring to the original Moon, not this split remnant. Aislune - the fear drained away, emotions blunted and cold rationality ruled. Aislune retreated from the horror scene, knowing he is already prepared for eventual restoration of his group or at least his love. Grisly, but he took steps to keep their parts separate and preserved.

As they drew closer to the living world, the other part of his person, the one he had to assume to appear in front of people started reasserting itself as Aislune dreaded the return to the city, among its throngs. But the one that was inspired by The Dream, the idea of Sky returning, the one that drew the crowds to first dawn after milennia...it grew. And in Dream, it showed as bursts of inspiration, literal light or song that occasionally burst from his hidden companion. And each time it happened, this new one was better defined and longer was Aislune supressed. Not that he didn't know what happened while hiding, just that he hadn't really like the attention the other attracted and kept his mind separate.

And once the crowd in dreams grew enough and dream city appeared, it was time to awaken.

Two personalities regarded one another in the Dream moments before outing, noting their differences, even hating some of them, but Birdsong, gentle soothing sound between them kept peace. There will be moments where one or the other was needed.

They shook hands among the people of this dream place.

And Aisbright stepped forward, new Dawncaller of the Sky emerged in a burst of light and birdsong from The Dream and into the reality.

(5, 9), (4, 10), and 12 on saves...terrible luck in critical moment

I can't wait for resolution of this...even if badly burned damaged

Oh, and feel free to adjust Prince Raven devotion II and III since they are not online yet and this might be just the change event for that :D

Rather than just "giving" away powers.

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

With 10 on the save, no amount of modifiers will help :D bye bye Aisling, you defied the god(s) one too many times :'(

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Will save disadvantage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Optional modifiers: +4 if Benedetto aura or Tallmind protection works here
+2 morale if there was time to quaff Heroism potion
+1 resistance if there was time to quaff protection from evil potion - I though I took this one earlier while hiding, but I cannot find that post :(

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

In particular, I hope I didn't just leave the actual void in the divinity for some random wondering Os'ha to become new Dream Crow

I wouldn't mind if Aisling becomes, but he is more of a realist than a dreamer - proselytizing is fine, but sylphs are alchemist, inventors, artificers...innovation more than illusion

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

I am surprised too, I thought he will come regardless of the Name he got, he's got the portfolio and if people call him Dream Crow, why not?

Don't assume Aisling wants to be part of Abnaki story :)
Aisling faltered in his silent, hidden flight above. The voice within hit him "The signs had already come to pass!" he thinks. For a heartbeat he only hovered near the ceiling, chest tight, mind racing between Prince of Raven and his vassals, The Sky and this new malleable reality where words matter as much as actions.

Slowly, oh so slowly, not used to revealing himself mid-fight, he shifted his combat garb into priestly regalia and flew lower for everyone to see white and blue garbed sylph, spreading his arms and booming as loud as he could in this vast cavern.

"Behold! This ground weeps with poison and shadow! But Sky is not marred by the Dark! And Prince Raven, The Lord of changes, of near-misses and borders, in this place where reality borders dream, where our internal conflicts, virtues and sins collide, the signs are fulfilled. The silent have sung! The lost have returned! Black and Red burn side by side! Which means I can finally speak!

The Dream Crow awakens filling the void again, from nightmares created by Night Carrion, from fighting for everyones dream against the corruption and under the patronage of Prince Raven, The Dream becomes again, The Carrion fails! Hear me stone! Hear me winds! Hear me waters of the worlds! Hear me fires from and of The Volcano! The Dream Crow is given form again and flies with The Flocks under The Sky, beneath Raven Prince's wings! Come Dream Crow, fly forward into the world!"

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

Will you try to finish this fight or just write the story where we return to Hearth?

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

I'm new here and I feel like we're just getting into things. Of course RL comes first, unfortunately, but...I can say I'll definitely hope you return refreshed (or find a single, better paying job ;) )

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

Aisling flies down toward the creature, but near the ceiling, avoiding potential overflow and also not risking accidentally hitting Benedetto.

He throws one of his alkali flasks, hoping this thing is just a big ooze and not some eldritch(er) horror. While coming closer, he also takes note of the various gasses coming from below trying to determine if it was explosive mixture that would go well with his fire flasks.

Touch bomb attack: 1d20 + 12 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 1 + 1 = 16 mods are +1 big game hunter and +1 height
Alkali damage: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + (4) = 10Use first roll if it is not an ooze. Damage lacks +2 from big hunter so it would be 8 or 12 depending

@The Declarative: is the loss of racial features permanent and those are replaced with wings and immunity? Or is it just "used up" for the day?

LOL, didn't even notice - you can see few artefacts above his head where the original head and shoulder were - I had to re-fit the character due wings height (you can see the blurry space above where some deletes happened) - this was me, quick and dirty photoshopping.

AI generators always had problems with fingers (and you may remembers with eyes and faces too earlier).

"In this place? I don't believe there is a difference. Let's see what the old new story is, this all is somehow connected to Samen and Gabriel's story."
Aisling whispers back
"And we're all becoming more exotic with their story. Which is becoming our story too, Phoenix, Birdsong, The Tears...we might yet live to see The Sky."

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

Aisling strides toward the monks that still stand around Benedetto.

"Your comrades need help. Move them away! Come on, something is coming, you don't want to fight them too, do you! Move!

But he has no time anymore. Regardless of them listening or not, he finds a good place close to Benedetto and stands behind a root nearby, his camouflage clothes helping him blend in.

As Aisling reels from the shriek that tears through his soul, the world stills for a breath—
then answers with a low, thrumming rumble, like thunder pacing behind distant mountains.

The air thickens, heavy with charged silence.
Then, a single bright chime — the sound of wind through hollow silver quill — rings from the spark coiled in his hair.

Feathers of light and shadow burst outward in a spiraling whirlwind, lifting the evangelist from the ground.
The fatigue in his limbs vanishes, swept away by a force that sings of storms and high skies.

As his feet leave the ground, winds coil around him like a lover’s embrace, not pushing but bearing.
Chimes come faster now, vibrations pass through him harmlessly, resonating like harmonics in a tuning fork.

And above the noise, just beneath thought, a faint melody echoes:
Birdsong, alive again — small, but fierce.

As the wind dissipates, Aisling gently drops down, floating to the ground.

Fatigue removal is just for effect, he's feeling jubilant

Still improvising, acutely aware of the god fragment in his hair, Aisling tentatively prays to Birdsong
"Lady of Song, silenced as you were, could you afford minor burst of holy fire to finish these creatures that served as your guards?"

Our quake was as I said a lesser one, more frightening than damaging except for the old center...BUUUUT it came in the covid time AND early in the morning in late march

Not great for either helping nor morale especially with kids in the cold.

There was even a (nor so funny) joke, if someone made a movie where among the global pandemic and unseasonal cold the strongest quake in a century hits the city, you'd say its implausible or impossible

Male Sylph Sanctified underground chymist unchained rogue 5 / Evangelist 5

That is better for english. In my language it is "Iz kože se ne može" which rhymes and has a bit wider meaning, but still applicable for heat suffering

Aisling looks between casters and the undead surrounding the paladin and defending the soldiers there. While he may not have spells as such, he can do something no one else can. If he can pull it off.

Aisling has hybridization funnel and he can mix two splash weapons in 10 minutes. Which he will do after this fight. BUT. He improvises his two weapon fighting and alchemist skill :)

Taking out holy water and one of the alchemist flasks, he judges the distance and timing very carefully. He would prefer hitting beyond Benedetto where there are two monsters, but there are monks to consider, thus he targets the one between him and Benedetto trusting that Kallik can take care of the one closest to them.

Both flasks arc over the distance and

So, I'm trying to hit one "south" of Benedetto with fire and holy water at the same moment. I'll roll with standard two weapon penalties, feel free to add whatever you think is needed (range?). Benedetto will get splash damage from both if I hit

Fire flask: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 12 - 2 = 171d6 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 6 - touch attack, hopefully hits even with range penalty :), but splash means at least some damage will be fire
Holy water: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 - 2 = 212d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 - touch attack, hopefully hits even with range penalty :)
Sneak if applicable: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 4, 6) = 20

EDIT: I didn't roll alchemy as this isn't really mixing...but if needed, roll, it is +20

Yeah, no! We had 5,4 earthquake some years ago, but the city centre is old europe (like 18th century buildings) - the damage was bad. We don't usually do above 3.

Ragadolf wrote:

But she also can't stand being cold. Does not know how to deal with it. And I mean Mid-west cold. Not way-up-north cold.

So I guess we're staying down here, where it's hot, but at least she knows how to deal with it. ;)

I'm always weirded out by people that choose such weather if they have the ability to move. Chose something warm, but dry.

Me personally, I prefer normal cold. I enjoy warm weather, but I easily get weak from heat, thus warm spells with above 35 C are terrible. And you can always add more layers against cold, but you cannot go "down" to less than your own skin against heat.
(take this "normal" cold with a grain of salt, I'm walking in short sleeves in 15 degrees Celsius and long-sleeve shirt or light jacket when its around 0)

"I'm fine!" You can see tears streaming from his eyes. "I'm fine." he wipes them off "So much lost. We've lost so much and we don't even know it. There are those so lost they don't even think it possible to not be lost."

He shakes his head sadly. "I feel like a feather tossed into a hurricane. Stretched, pulled, thrown this way and that without control. But after everything that happens to me, I am still a feather, thing of air, Physical yet ephemeral, seemingly delicate, but even when ruffled, wetted, and twisted, I am surpringly hard to actually break or destroy."
He takes a deep breath.
"Let's see this to the end. I just need a potion to take the edge off. It was beautiful. You cannot imagine...but we lost it for so long.
He digs out the wand of healing and offers it to Benedetto.

Absolute vacuum. Every sylph has a nightmare of asphyxiation death at least once in their life. The greatest pain - cut off from the very core of your being. Superstitions still persist that one's soul is destroyed if they die in the old ways: dehydration for a sylph, hypothermia for an ifrit, and so forth.

After the carrion altars, there is a terrible space that somehow drains the ambient light of the surroundings. Samen's spell still holds, and you can see each other, but everything is dimmed, like a candle seen though a dirty window.

Tiny pinpricks of light, like distant fireflies, float in the ugly space like dead fish. There is no motion or life in them, and the impression of an ocean persists, invisible waves of nothing that you must swim through.

At the boundary to this dim, awful place, you sense the air is poisonous, and thin. To breathe such an atmosphere for even a minute or two would be certain death.

This was the ultimate test for Aisling. But he is prepared for poisonous air with his necklace. And he has a legacy item that he is reluctant to sacrifice because these are irreplaceable. But his hope is that once The Sky is restored, air crystals will be possible again. Thus, he heads straight for the polluted air taking his air crystals.

Plunging straight into it, he exhales each breath from the crystals as hard as he can, bringing clean air at least in his nearest space. In addition, he pulls out few reagents and creates a combination of purifying chemicals and his lightning bomb components.

The bomb components are here to ionize the air to create channels in the miasma and the cleansing...well, if given time he might clear it completely, but right now, the group only needs to pass through.

Alchemy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21 + air crystals

Aisling wonders at the lightning caught like that. Would it loke to exist trapped like that, but longer. Or would it like to be free, rush out, expend the energy in just a moment and be gone?

He considers metal flask, glass flask with metal stopper or glass with wood. He chooses the last option in the end, metal might disrupt the delicate balance keeping it together. After coaxing the bolt into the flask, he rushes after the others not to be left behind too much.
