No posts. Organized Play character for Morag the Gatherer.

I'm working on a home brew in which the PCs work for various patrons in Absalom as grunts in the "Shadow War" that the powerful wage in that city.
I want to play a drow who knows she'll be a target if anyone realizes what she is so she disguises herself as the normal elf version of herself.
When she arrives at 1st level in addition to putting points into disguise, she has the trait "Keeper of the Veil" trait set to disguise and a disguise kit. This gives her 13 for her disguise skill.
As soon as she can afford it (1600 gold)she'll buy a "False Face mask" and set it to a fair skinned blonde version of herself giving her over 20 for disguise.
I don't intend for her to be a magic class so what are some other ways for her to keep her identity a secret.

I just played Tome of Righteous Repose last night and had a blast. It was one of the most challenging scenarios I've played in a while. The GM told us he could run it a dozen times and never repeat the same encounters.
So can the same character run this multiple times for credit? I was thinking of having a party at Lastwall run it several times in succession, each time using a different page from the Tome.

This could have come up in the last game I ran. The party was faced with several monsters, some of whom were real; others were illusions.
In the 1st round those of the party who could see the monsters failed their will saves. What would have happened if an illusionary monster hit a PC for damage.

I recently received a Sulis race boon for GMing at a con. At the same con I found a lovely figure of a fire winged female humanoid wielding a flaming scimitar.
This has inspired me to try to make a flame oracle of Sarenrae.
Though I've made many characters in the past, most of them have been martial (at least the successful ones). My efforts to make a satisfying flame oracle have this far been frustrated as every attempt has produced very meh results.

My intention is to build a melee (scimitar and shield) and blaster oracle who at 7th level will get her wings.
This is for PFS

BTW: I'd post my build such as it is but don't know how to make those spoiler blocks.

I was recently GMing a PFS scenario in which 1 of the players thought it would be a good idea to burn down a run down bar in the middle of a city. He thought compensating the owner about 100 gp. would be enough to mollify the owner. I don't think that would be near enough but have no idea how much it would actually cost.
It didn't happen but it made me curious; how much would such a bar cost?

I recently got a Tiefling boon from GMing at a con. I'm now trying to figure out what kind of adventurer to make him.

His story is: His aristocratic family found itself on the wrong side in the closing days of the Chelaxian civil war. Ever the opportunists, they made a pact of their own to switch sides. This was successful and my character (still working on a name) was a result. Although raised as part of the family to honor their diabolical pact, he was always treated as a lesser being.
Upon reaching adulthood, he set out on his own determined to prove his worth and avenge himself for the slights against him. He feels that his treatment by his family means that they were not honoring their pact faithfully.

He now wants to hunt down the faithless and oathbreakers. He cares not if you are good or evil but only that you abide both in the letter and spirit to your commitments.

I envision him as lawful neutral and a worshipper of an archdevil, probably Asmodeus. I currently have his stated as a slayer but feel there might be a better fit.

Any suggestions?

BTW: this is for PFS.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As a relatively new GM, I'm running into people using the 0 level spell detect magic in all sorts of ways I've never seen before. Some things are obvious such as enchanted items but others I'm not sure about.
Here are a few:
1. Detect the presence of a hidden magical beast or creature
2. Detect someone who is under an invisibility spell or is invisible but carrying magical items.
3. Detect if someone is under the effect of an enchantment or compulsion.
4. Find a spellcaster who casting from a hidden location.
5. Determine whether an effect (such as ghost sound) is magical or mundane.

On Friday, Pathfinder Rascallion Harper, a 2nd level bard, fell while on a mission for the society. He rushed to the aid of a fallen pathfinder then held off the villains until laid low by a critical hit with a staff.

As he has too little prestige or funds for resurrection, his death is final. This is my 1st character death so is there anything I need to do to remove him from the active pathfinder roles?

I'm Running the 3rd segment of the 1st book (The half Dead City) in the Mummy's Mask Adventure path. The PCs are 3rd level and due to the way they've role played so far I think at least some of them have figured out what's coming next and I want to make a contingency plan in case they totally finesse it.

Anyone know of a good module that I could slip into the adventure in case they do. The module would be an exploration (looting) of an ancient Osirion site (house, temple or small dungeon. It could be part of a larger module or stand alone.

I'd prefer it be a Paizo product if 3rd part products that follow the regular Pathfinder rules will be ok.

BTW: This isn't for PFS but I looked at their adventures and none looked like what I want.

I just finished GMing my 1st PFS adventure; "#5-08 The Confirmation". I also just purchased my 2nd PFS adventure to run next month; "#6-10 The Wounded Wisp".

In the intro to The Confirmatiom, Kreighton Shane, Master of Scrolls, clearly states that the bar "The Pig's Paunch" is where the Pathfinder Society began.

However, in the intro to The Wounded Wisp it states that a bar named "The Wounded Wisp" is where the Pathfinder Society started.

So which is it?

BTW: Since The Confirmation was 1st and was written by Kyle Baird, my money's on it.

Recently I took part in an adventure module (Blood of Dralkard Manor).
All of us players had a wonderful time.

About a week later our GM contacts us and is very sorry but when he tried to register the game, he found out it was retired.

Its really too bad as it was a very fun game. But as a player how do I best handle this. Do I just remove everything I got from that adventure and pretend it didn't happen? that's what I'm doing at the present.

I've just created a cleric of Pharasma and one of her abilities is the domain spell like ability "Bleeding touch."

When you read up on spell like abilities, the CRB says that, with a few exceptions, they function like spells including provoking Attacks of Opportunity.

The description of the death domain spell like ability says it is a melee touch attack. I interpret this as functioning much like if she was attacking with a weapon.

Which is it? And if it acts like a melee attack can she use it when she performs attacks of opportunity.

Most hafted weapons (hammers, axes, spears, etc.) have wooden shafts. This leaves them vulnerable to being sundered as wood is much weaker than steel, mithral or adamantine.

So 2 questions:
1. If a weapon such as an axe is sundered, is it assumed that the wooden shaft is what's broken and that's all that needs to be replaced?

2. Is it possible to make a hammer or axe with a metal shaft. For example: could someone custom make a dwarven warhammer that was forged from a single piece of adamantine from hilt to hammer?

I have a swashbuckler (inspired blade) who is just reaching 3rd level. I want to get the feat "Fencing Grace" which will complete his basic abilities package.
I have the "Advanced Class Origins" book but do all my characters on Herolab. I looked to buy the latest package that would have that book in it but couldn't find it.
Does Herolab have "Advanced Class Origins" available yet?
If so, where?
If not, is there a way to manually add feats?

My PFS Elf slayer has just reached 3rd level.
She has dealt adequately with her defensive needs for the moment. Now its time to upgrade her main weapon, an elven curved blade.

I've been urged by some of the veteran PFS players to invest in an adamantine weapon. They point to some scenarios (none of which I've played or seen) in which the bad guys will try to sunder your weapon.

The problem I have is cost and time. A +1 adamantine elven curved blade costs about 5,000 gold (after selling the current mw weapon). That means no magic weapon until about 5th level. If I enchant my current blade its only 2,000 gold and I'll have it somewhere around 4th level.

I've not yet had anyone try to sunder my weapon but have run into a situation where I couldn't hit my opponent because it took an enchanted blade to do it.

An elven curved blade comes with a +2 vs. sundering so is it worth it to wait for the adamantine?

Morag

BTW: My slayer currently has less than 100 gold.

Somewhere I believe I've seen a feat or archetype ability or something that gives 2 handed weapon fighters a x2 strength damage modifier vs. the 1.5 they normally get.
Now that I'm in a position to actually use such an ability, I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Anyone know the answer to this one or am I misremembering this?

Reading up on what you can get for free by spending 2 prestige points, its clear the idea was to let low level casters get wands to make themselves and the party a little more durable.
But I also see that non-spell casters can use this to upgrade themselves more quickly.
For example my 2nd level Paladin just got his magic sword and doesn't yet have MW armor because I didn't read close enough. He does have a wand of CLW that has been very useful.
Now my 1st level elf rogue can get leaf armor (500 gp) for 2 PP while spending 365 gp to make her elven curved sword MW and not have to wait till the middle of 2nd level.

Other than the 750 gp limit, no enchanted items and a few other restrictions like dragon hide. What other kinds of stuff can non-spell casters get that will be worthwhile.

Morag

Also, It doesn't say you can only do this once. Can you use this more often?

I have a Paladin in PFS who uses a Nodachi. He is approaching 3rd level and the nodochi has just gotten a +1 enhancement. The next thing I was planning to do was make it a frost weapon.
I just looked over the attributes he could add when he makes it his bonded weapon at 5th level. One of the few offensive +1 enchantments he can add is flaming.

Can the nodochi have both frost and flaming active at the same time?
Also is frost considered an intermediate step toward icy burst?

I was reading up on the allowable races for PFS and it stated that some races, such as in the advance race guide, not specifically allowed can be available in PFS by using a boon.

Under boons, it looks like the easiest way to get them is go to a Paizo organized event (like Paizo con). However, the text seems to say that these boons can only be applied to existing PFS characters.
Is this true?

The reason I ask is I want to make a Goblin Swashbuckler for PFS.
