Hi everyone.

I'm very sorry for disappearing like that. I've been pretty sick for the past few weeks, and at this point don't expect to start feeling better anytime in the immediate future. Therefore I'm dropping out of all my games. (Which I had unofficially done anyway I guess.)

Again, I'm very sorry I didn't say anything sooner, I just kept hoping things would get better and I'd be able to rejoin. It was great playing with you all, and I wish you the best of luck.

My wife works at a neurology office, and she's been furious with her management recently because they're just not taking it seriously. Not screening people before letting them in the building, reducing telework hours, they even had a doctor come in and see patients after he had been exposed and was supposed to be quarantining. Half our friends think we're crazy for continuing to isolate.

No wonder cases are spiking.

Adu continues to fire shots at the ants swarming ever closer. "Um, the mines are going to run out of ants eventually. Right?"

Aiming at Purple. Sorry, for the past couple days I kept getting the Paizo rats whenever I tried to log in.

Posted. Sorry, I was off the boards last week.

Adu continues firing at the incoming creatures. Not that she's usually all that good at it, her skill with a crossbow leaves much to be desired, but every little bit helps. Right?

Although maybe Trudd missed her target when she was trying to help Goggeck, because this particular shot was the finest she'd ever made.

Adu squeaks a little as some of the ants move closer. "Um, I guess that's a good thing though, right? So we can hit them?"

She punctuates that question with a shot from her crossbow.

Adu is also ready. I've put her on the map. Assume she casts Bless right before the fighting starts and her crossbow is loaded.

"I can call on Grandmother Spider again. That seemed to work out well, right?" Adu nods, satisfied in her theological choice. "Killing other insects is what spiders do best."

Adu will cast Bless right before the fight starts. Sorry for not posting sooner, Adu doesn't have K. Nature and isn't exactly a strategist so I didn't feel like there was much for me to say.

"One feel better spell coming up!" After thinking for a second, Adu casts one on Hezekh as well.

"Is anyone badly hurt?" It doesn't look like it and so Adu is tempted to save her spells, but she's not always the best at noticing such things.

Brunhild Liefdottir wrote:
”By the Forge’s Glow, how many of these creatures are in these parts? Better than orcs, to be sure, but dangerous to settlers nonetheless.”

"Two less, now." From anyone else this would have come across as sarcastic. Adu is clearly perfectly serious. "And we're going to clear out the nest, so soon it will be safe for anyone to come here! Which I guess will mostly be Girtul, I don't think anyone else really wants to come this way."

Female Gnome Oracle 4 | HP 31/31 | AC: 20 (T: 13, can't be FF)| Saves (+2 vs illusions): F:+4, R:+4, W:+4 | BAB: +3, CMB: +1, CMD: +13, | Init: +6 | Perc. +8, SM +10 | Spells: (1st) 3/7, (2nd) 4/4

"Ants, ants..." Adu mutters while she reloads her crossbow. Then she brightens. "I know! Grandmother Spider, weave your web around these vermin and catch them so Toulbe can cook them!" As an aside to no-one in particular, she asks, "Spiders eat ants, right?"

Move action to reload, then cast Bless for +1 to all allies' attack rolls. (This stacks with IC.)

Adu sees the ant attack a second before it does, and is so distracted by the vision that she almost misses it actually happening. "Uh, don't worry it'll be okay we've got this!"

She takes her crossbow, (thankfully already loaded), and quickly fires at the ant attacking Brunhild. She's too afraid of accidentally hitting Glor to attack the other one. Not that it matters, as her distraction ensures she hits nothing but sky.

"Thanks Sankest!" Adu is beaming at the extra acid flask, even though it's comparatively cheap given everything they've spent so far. "Pleasure doing business with you as well, and thanks again for keeping us so well-supplied!"

As for where to go next, Adu doesn't particularly care. "Sure, we might as well clear out the mine. Maybe Sankest and Girtul will be able to get us even better stuff once they have access to it! Besides, those ants tried to eat our donkey earlier. Or, well, ants related to them. Probably. How do ant families work?"

Adu shrugs. "I don't see why not, we probably won't get the chance to resupply for a while. Might as well make sure we're prepared for any eventuality. Let's say...5 alkali flasks and 4 acid flasks. That'll be the last of our gold."

"I don't really need anything either. Besides, I just got these awesome new boots!" Adu lifts up a foot as if for inspection. "I would like to replace that antitoxin though, and maybe buy a couple extra. That seemed to come in handy. Ooh, and you've got more of that burning stuff too!"

Suggesting two more antitoxin and one antiplague. Then maybe 5x alchemist's fire? I'm of the opinion you can never have too much.

Adu knows a little about a lot of religions; enough to know why the worship of Droskar is a problem for most dwarves. Exploring the Vault had taught her more. But still...

"People didn't like you because of who your grandfather was?" She once again puffs up with indignation. "That doesn't make any sense! You're...you're you. Not your grandfather." Realizing a bit too late that she might be being insensitive to something Brunhild clearly had difficulty talking about, she reaches forward and tries to awkwardly pat her on the shoulder. "I mean, I'm sure they had their reasons and this is just something about dwarven culture I don't understand and I'm not trying to be offensive I just...oh blast it. I don't care, and if anyone does I'll...I'll...I'll do something to make them stop?"

Under her breath she mutters, "Dwarves are so weird."

Female Gnome Oracle 4 | HP 31/31 | AC: 20 (T: 13, can't be FF)| Saves (+2 vs illusions): F:+4, R:+4, W:+4 | BAB: +3, CMB: +1, CMD: +13, | Init: +6 | Perc. +8, SM +10 | Spells: (1st) 3/7, (2nd) 4/4

Adu isn't entirely sure whether she's included in Brunhild's question, but she decides to assume she is. "I guess I'd be of Clan Hilnack? Known for...lots of things. Gnomes tend to branch out in their interests. Toulbe's obsession with new cuisines is pretty tame actually, I have another cousin who's on a mission to catalog every type of insect in Golarion! Do you know how many insects there on Golarion? Because it's a lot, and she will tell you all about them in exhaustive detail. I, uh, don't go to see her much. Not really a bug fan myself."

Oops. She's getting sidetracked again.

"Anyway, I'm here because of Toulbe. After my last job I thought I'd go see him since I was in the area, but when I got to Taggoret he wasn't there!" She puffs up with indignation. "He'd gone off on some fool- I mean, epic quest, and hadn't even let anyone know! It was really very irresponsible of him." The fact that she hadn't told anyone either is irrelevant. "Who knows what kind of trouble he might get himself into? So obviously I had to go after him to make sure he didn't get himself killed."

Female Gnome Oracle 4 | HP 31/31 | AC: 20 (T: 13, can't be FF)| Saves (+2 vs illusions): F:+4, R:+4, W:+4 | BAB: +3, CMB: +1, CMD: +13, | Init: +6 | Perc. +8, SM +10 | Spells: (1st) 3/7, (2nd) 4/4

Adu still doesn't care overly much about the bugbears, although she does take a closer look at the priest's holy symbol. What gods do bugbears worship?

K. Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

"So where to next? Are we going back to the Vault? It'll be nice to see Girtul again, although I doubt he expected us to come back quite so soon. Maybe they've got more antitoxin though!"

Female Gnome Oracle 4 | HP 31/31 | AC: 20 (T: 13, can't be FF)| Saves (+2 vs illusions): F:+4, R:+4, W:+4 | BAB: +3, CMB: +1, CMD: +13, | Init: +6 | Perc. +8, SM +10 | Spells: (1st) 3/7, (2nd) 4/4

Adu frowns at her notes, barely paying attention to the bugbear corpses. They're dead, they can't talk, therefore they're no concern of hers.

"I feel like I'm missing something? All this ore around probably leads back to the mine we noticed, but I'm not sure what if anything that means." She actually turns her crude map upside down, studying it from a few different angles, then shrugs. "I guess it's not important." She glances at Brunhild and Goggeck, still examining the corpses. "Find anything interesting?"

When they wake up in the morning, Adu is even more excited than usual. "Goggeck? Goggeck! I went to sleep thinking about how you weren't feeling so well after the fight and wishing we'd had more antitoxins and I had the most amazing dream, really, I think I may have actually had a vision from Dalenydra, isn't that exciting?! Anyway, stand still." Without waiting for permission she casts a spell, then another when something tells her more is needed.

Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 1 You heal one damage per night's rest, so that should get you down to -1. You'll be back to full tomorrow.

"Better? I'll bet that's better. Isn't it awesome? I can do so much more cool stuff now! I've got to tell Toulbe!" She dashes off without actually waiting for a reaction.

As they start exploring, she might still be a little distracted by her dream of the night before. Her notes are adequate, but not quite up to her usual standards.

"Oooh, gimme gimme." Once Adu has identified the boots, she promptly snatches them. Not because she thinks they'll actually be all that helpful, the number of times she's fallen from a high place are, okay not zero, but can be counted on her hand. Hands. Maybe some toes?

No, the falling part isn't what interests her. However they are a most fetching shade of blue, and most importantly of all...

"Toulbe! Touble! Look, I'm taller than you now!" She bounces with excitement. "Aren't these boots amazing? They're so comfortable too! I can almost forget I'm traipsing around the wilderness instead of well-paved roads."

Adu is not going to be particularly helpful when it comes to harvesting dragon meat. My vote is to camp here for the night and so we have all our cool new level 4 abilities tomorrow morning.

Leveled up Adu here!

Oracle 4
BAB +1, Will +1
Stat Increase: +1 Cha
ABP: Weapon and Armor Attunement +1
2nd Level spells: Cure Moderate Wounds, False Belief, Lesser Restoration
FCB: +1 skill
Skill Rank Additions: Diplomacy, K. Arcana, Linguistics, Perception, Profession Record-Keeper, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Stealth, Use Magic Device

Nothing exciting from the Oracle side of things beyond 2nd-level spells. I did take Lesser Restoration, so once we've fully rested I can help with that Con damage.

Adu looks on as the wyvern corpse is being drained. "Um, are you sure we should be eating that? Him. I mean, he wasn't exactly nice, but he could talk..." She frowns, clearly trying to think through a moral quandary she's not well-suited to. "Then again, I suppose not eating him wouldn't mean anything to him, given that he's, well, dead. And it's not like we killed him just to eat him, so maybe it's okay?"

Besides, Toulbe makes the best stews, and she's hungry.

She looks up to notice that the others have already started exploring the hoard. "Oh! Wait for me!" She practically bounces up to the cave. "Are there any books? Written materials? What's on those scrolls?" She starts trying to categorize the various items they've found so far.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

She'll use Detect Magic to see which items are magical, then try to identify them. Let me know if I need to make more Spellcraft Checks.

Adu breathes a sigh of relief when the dragon falls, which quickly turns into a worried frown as she sees the many injuries. "Hold on, just a second, I'm sure we bought some..." Her face falls as she pulls out a single bottle. "Or one. We bought one."

She presents the antitoxin to Goggeck and Hezekh. "One of you should probably drink this. And uh, in the meantime I'll do some light healing?"

CLW, Goggeck: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
CLW, Goggeck: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
CLW, Hezekh: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Antitoxin should probably go to Hezekh, as he has the lower fortitude save.

Female Gnome Oracle 4 | HP 31/31 | AC: 20 (T: 13, can't be FF)| Saves (+2 vs illusions): F:+4, R:+4, W:+4 | BAB: +3, CMB: +1, CMD: +13, | Init: +6 | Perc. +8, SM +10 | Spells: (1st) 3/7, (2nd) 4/4

Adu gulps, her hands shaking as she loads her crossbow. The dragon seems to be doing a lot more damage than the bugbears, and she has no desire to be turned into a snack. She isn't quite sure how much her little bow can help, but she can try.

Masterwork Light Crossbow, IC, Bless: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 13
P. Damage, IC: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Adu gasps when the dragon talks. It sounds so...unsophisticated. The fact that it's talking about eating her is far less shocking than the manner of its speech. Although the snack thing is admittedly a concern.

She draws herself up to her full height, (which is not at all impressive), and shouts back at the dragon.

Draconic:
"I'm not food! And since you're not calling off your followers, I guess we'll just have to fight them, won't we?!"

She takes a step forward, eyes narrowed at the last bugbear. In a completely different language, she yells,

Goblin:
"Now you come here and think about what you've done."

Casting Command. Will DC16 to negate. On a failure, the bugbear can do nothing on his turn but move towards Adu, provoking AOOs as he goes.

Adu looks extremely flustered, as this was not what she had expected. Somewhere in the back of her mind she'd been expecting a nice chat with a friendly, (and very wise), dragon who would tell her the best stories. Bugbears and a dragon who seemed hostile rather than chatty had not been in the daydream.

Draconic:
"Um, hello? We're not here to hurt you, at least I'm not, so maybe tell your friends to not fight? And, um, the spell I'm about to cast, purely defensive, you know how it is."

"Hey Apsu, god of good dragons, maybe help this one listen to us or at least not eat us? Okay thanks bye."

Casting Bless. All allies gain a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.

For once Adu manages to curb her tongue and walk quietly along with the others. They don't want to startle the dragon, but they also don't want to annoy it...and she is vaguely aware that she can be very annoying.

She keeps herself occupied by mentally rehearsing her Draconic.

"Works for me." Adu is somewhat disappointed to find the mine occupied by giant ants rather than goblins. You can't talk to ants.

Well, you can, but they don't talk back.

"So, if we're not exploring the mine, are we going to the dragon lair now?" Adu practically wiggles in excitement at the possibility of talking to an actual dragon.

I think our next step was heading to B1?

Adu has absolutely no interest in hunting animals. Hunting a mine, though, that sounds exciting. "An iron mine? Do you think anyone's working it? Does anyone actually live in this area other than goblins?" She gasps as the logical conclusion comes to her. "Could this be a goblin mine?!"

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

While the incessant questions likely distract the dwarves at critical moments, (and no doubt also leave them contemplating the pros and cons of murder), Adu's sharp eyes prove to be surprisingly good at noticing little changes in the rock.

Continuing the trend of working from home. It's been strange, although the cats are happy to have laps available 24/7.

Thank you all for your patience. It ended up taking a little longer than I'd thought, but for the most part things seem to have settled down. I should be back to my regular schedule.

Posting to all my games: My grandmother died Sunday and I'm not in a great headspace for posting. Plus I have to travel home for the funeral, help with arrangements, that sort of thing.

I'll try to get a few posts in, particularly if my character needs to do something in order for the party to move forward, but probably won't manage much in the way of RP or helping with decision-making for the rest of the week. Please bot as needed. I hope to be back in form by next Monday.

Adu stays back as Toulbe talks to the griffon, figuring her friendly cousin would be better at talking it down than she would be. She watches with satisfaction as it flies away.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

"Huh. Looks like the primary sexual characteristics for griffons are more similar to mammals than avians, despite the wings and the beak..." She quickly pulls out her notebook and jots that down.

(Not that she has any particular interest in the physiology of griffons, but it's something she didn't know before, and therefore it's worth remembering.)

"Nicely done Toulbe." She gives her cousin a warm smile. "I'm sure the griffon needed the meat more than we did, and it's nice we didn't have to fight it." She pauses as a thought occurs to her. "Maybe Tjasse helped by making the griffon be open to diplomacy instead of by giving us the strength to kill it? That would make sense, he does like giant birds so maybe he wouldn't want us to kill the griffon, although if griffons are more similar to mammals than birds perhaps Tjasse wasn't the god to ask after all..."

Lost in these theological considerations, she completely forgets about the missing meat. Toulbe will come up with something tasty regardless, he always does.

Adu stares up at the sky, eyes wide. "What is that?! Should we try to get to cover or something?"

She wrings her hands for a second, then decides that foresight is much better than hindsight. "Um, I'm going to go ahead and bless you all now. Just in case." She clears her throat and brings her hands together for a quick prayer. "Oh Tjasse, god of giant birds, please don't let this one eat us."

Casting Bless, duration 3 minutes.

I do think B4 was the plan.

Adu lowers her crossbow, relieved it wasn't needed. "I'll definitely add this to my notes. We'd seen the ant hills earlier, but they must have migrated down this way. Looking for food?"

She pats the donkey on the neck. "Don't worry, you're not food." She punctuates this with a quick dose of healing energy.

Hearing the donkey scream, Adu scrambles off the wagon to try and line up a shot with her crossbow. "Hey! That's our donkey, not your food! Leave him alone!"

Move action to get into position, another to load the crossbow.

Adu continues to sit on the wagon, making notes on the areas they pass through. She's quite content to let the others do the difficult job of navigating a foreign environment. Her job is to make it easier for anyone who comes later.

Let's see. That ridge looks impassible, but a mile further west the slope steadies and you could get wagons down without too much trouble. Getting back up again...well we'll figure that out later. There's a game trail winding from north to south that could easily be turned into a proper road. That rock formation is particularly distinctive, make a note of that, it's a good landmark...

She happily writes down everyone's findings, organizing them into a semi-coherent description of the region.

As the dwarves discuss what to do Adu remains quiet, her brain whirring. I've never spoken to a dragon before. Is my Draconic good enough or would my accent be insulting? I wonder what kind of dragon it is? Is it young or has it been around for hundreds and hundreds of years? What kinds of artifacts might it own?

Not that even Adu would be foolish enough to steal from a dragon. But maybe she could do some cataloging while they're there? (With permission, of course.)

She pulls out her notes and studies them. The completionist in her won't let her suggest going straight for the dragon. "I think we can check out the dragon while also looking for that mine Girtul wanted. As long as we explore thoroughly along the way, we should discover any other secrets these hills hold."

Voting to explore B5 first, then move to B4.

Adu pumps her fist in the air triumphantly. "We did it! Goblins slain, family rescued, it's been a good day. Well, for everyone but the bugbears that is." She makes sure to pick up the archer's bow before jumping down to rejoin the rest of the group. It had seemed to be of good quality.

"Does anyone need healing? It looked like Toulbe took care of most of it. When did you learn how to do that? It was awesome!"

If any of the trapped animals are injured, (and her party members don't request healing for themselves), Adu happily spends the rest of her spells healing the puppy's family. Wise? Likely not. But no one's ever claimed Adu was wise.
