Second Seekers (Jadnura)

I've been meaning to stat out Polymorph forms for my 10th level Xenodruid, and I always seem to get something wrong, so see if this looks correct:

Polymorph IV, form not based on actual creature (Polymorph appendix linked for ease of use)

Generic Fire Giant
Large Humanoid (size and type allowed by the spell)
Space 10 ft.; Reach 10 ft. ("Decide if the form is tall or long")
Resistances fire 15 (1 Defensive Ability; 1of2 Abilities)
Speed 40 feet (1 free Movement)
Melee Slam +12 (2d8+10+Str B) (1 free Natural Attack)
Breath Weapon (40-ft. cone, 9d4 F, Reflex DC terrible, usable every 4 rounds) (2of2 Abilities)
+2 on Str-based skills and ability checks

Humanoid so I can keep my equipment
Reach for threatening and AoOs
Attack +12 is better for delivering touch spells
Resistance to one of the most used energy types
Breath Weapon is terrible, but okay vs swarms
This is for Society, which restricts "Other Abilities"

Posting the answer in this thread in case it comes up in future searches:

Sorry for the wait. I just received notice, and the FAQ should be updated soon.

xenodruid connection mystics get corrosive haze instead of reincarnate

I believe a tentative decision was made, but it is waiting final confirmation and then will go into an FAQ(?) update (So that it stays with the other Core Rule book / Society clarifications.)

EDIT: That said, the Guide still lists it as banned:

All options in the Starfinder Core Rulebook are legal for play.

So do 10th Level Xenodruids still not have access to a 4th Level Connection spell?

Control atmosphere is a core spell and the most druidy at that level.

It's actually from Pact Worlds.

Although I'm not sure if being non-Core is make or break for the replacement.

I would disagree it's "more druidy", since Polymorph spells are actually called out as being favored by Xenodruids.

EDIT: Lol ninja'd by 38 seconds.

I can get on board with Corrosive Haze, too.

As I finally level my Xenodruid to 10th, what Connection spell do I replace Reincarnate with?

This has been submitted for the guide, and as soon as someone tells me, I will post here.

In the mean time if someone wants to start a thread with suggestions for what that replacement spell will be, I will see what I can do to convey those.

I imagine we probably want the replacement spell to be from the Core Rulebook. If not, my suggestion would be Polymorph IV, since Xenodruids and worshippers of Oras are specifically mentioned as being the primary users of Polymorph spells.

(although I admit it's a complex spell to force upon an entire playerbase)

My backup vote for a non-Core spell would be Reanimate Construct, since it's almost like "reincarnating" a Construct. Artificial to Natural.

For a Core suggestion I'd recommend Resistant Armor, because it fits with the theme of evolution and adaptation, although that is already the Connection Spell for both the Crusader and Warmonger Connections.

That's the only Season 1 game I haven't played, either, so if you happen to have room for a Level 9 Xenodruid...

Thank you!!

Oh. I didn't know Play by Discord was a thing. This whole time I thought it would be a 4 hour slot using Discord as voice chat and a VTT.

Is there a "how to" tutorial somewhere?

Each Chronicle is a different "source", so yes, you can combine the two.

Thurston answered this exact question regarding Half-orcs.

The same logic would presumably apply to all similarly worded race boons.

This may be obvious but for purposes of this boon is another earned version of the same Chronicle considered "from another source" i.e. can I earn a half-orc through playing [redacted] and then earn through GMing a second version of this chronicle and apply the bonus stats to that first half-orc.
You sure can, though earning the second Chronicle will consume replays.

He explains it in the GM Discussion Thread for said Race Boon.

(or just look at this alias's first couple posts)

To elaborate with an example (because I couldn't figure out how to better phrase my answer):

Your –701 plays through #X-XX: Return to Elfland, which grants you a Boon to create an Elf. You later GM that same scenario and apply the credit to your Elf PC. It would gain the +2 to a stat of 14 or lower.

It may be the same scenario, but the copy and the credit are different sources.

Second Seekers (Jadnura) 5/5 5/55/5 ***

You can't apply credit from both Chronicles to the same character, but you can apply the +2 Boon to a Character that was unlocked by a different character playing or GMing that same scenario. Thurston confirmed that it works that way (my specific question was regarding the Half-orc Boon, but same language and format as the Halfling Boon).

Second Seekers (Jadnura) 5/5 5/55/5 ***

Oh.

I'll admit, I was a bit sour about that as well, at first, but it doesn't take long to play the required number of games.

O.O

I think I missed something somewhere.

Can you only get scenario-granted race boons by *playing*?

Because in a certain Tier 3-6 GM thread, Thursty confirmed you could indeed combine a "played" Chronicle and a "GMed" Chronicle together for the enhanced effect.

I want to know if that scenario is an exception before I play that character above 1st Level.

Awesome, thank you!

I'm seeking clarification on this comment, because this exact situation will soon happen to me, and I want to handle it appropriately:

In SFS, can we not play a scenario we've GMed, or GM a scenario we've played, without using replays?

Admittedly I'm still in that newbie stage where I think as a Pathfinder, and not as a Starfinder.
