PaizoCon 2022 Logo PaizoCon Online 2022

PaizoCon is only a few weeks away, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you May 27–29 at the DoubleTree hotel in SeaTac, Washington. We’ll also host online events and seminars for those unable to make the trek.

Physical Tickets on Sale Now: If you’re looking to attend PaizoCon in person, we have tickets available now while supplies last. Visit the Paizo Store to get your tickets!

Game Signups are Now Open: Scheduling for both in-person and online games is available through Warhorn. Be sure to sync your Warhorn account with your paizo.com account so you can sign up to play.

The PaizoCon Store Returns: The PaizoCon store offers the latest Pathfinder and Starfinder releases as well as a collection of core products and accessories. Due to the limited size, scope, and staffing of this year’s show, subscription or order pickups will not be made available. All transactions will occur using credit card only. No cash sales will be allowed, and we will not have cash on hand. Please plan accordingly!

PaizoCon Livestreams: The PaizoCon theater will be available on site for attendees to watch online events as their schedules allow, including Erik Mona’s keynote address at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27. We’ll provide the full schedule of seminars soon. We look forward to seeing online attendees on Twitch!

The Glass Cannon Network: Join the miscreants from the Glass Cannon Network for tabletop and board gaming in the Glass Cannon Network Room all weekend. And don’t miss Pathfinder Live! on Saturday at 12 p.m. when the GCN brings its trademark brand of nonsense to Pathfinder Second Edition!

Safety Precautions: Covid-19 remains an ongoing consideration, and Paizo is committed to the safety of the Paizo staff and attendees. We intend to take the following precautions to better protect attendees.

  • In-person attendees must show proof of vaccination (including booster shots, if eligible) and wear masks in all Paizo-controlled spaces such as ballrooms, seminar rooms, gaming spaces, and the PaizoCon store.
  • Our annual banquet has been cancelled.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in public spaces.
  • We have reduced the number of in-person tickets and have capped physical attendance to the show at 500 attendees.
  • We have allocated more open space in common areas to allow for better separation between attendees in the seminar rooms, OP hall (between players and between tables), and in the PaizoCon store.

We look forward to seeing you at the show whether you attend online or in person!

Huzzah for badges!

Wait.. you waited until 2 weeks before the Con to suddenly start selling badges after two months of telling people that you would not be selling them?

How.. how does this make any sense? We had three friends planning on flying in from three different places across the country who canceled their flights and plans because there would not be tickets for everyone.

What an absolute let down on every level.

Paizo asked people with badges to notify them by March 11 if they wanted a refund, so that they would know how many badges to issue. But then they didn't actually process any of those refunds for almost 2 months (May 3rd). I suspect that is the reason they have only just discovered that they have excess capacity.

When did they say they wouldn't be selling them?

Tickets

When we decided to do a physical PaizoCon, we knew it needed to be a smaller show than in prior years. We set the number of attendees at 500, not including staff, organized play GMs, and partner guests. We hoped this would balance safety concerns with our ability to deliver a great show. Unfortunately, with our reduced cap for the physical show, we have no tickets available at this time. We continue to reach out to ticketholders and process refunds and will update if we do get inventory to sell, but at this time it looks unlikely.

Well, thanks to the date stamp on the post you quoted, we can tell that it was April 13.

Grand Lodge

Not having tickets does not mean not selling them.

On April 13 they said,

Quote:
will update if we do get inventory

This is the update you were promised. They have inventory to sell.

Inventory that, on April 13, they did not expect to have. "Unlikely" does not mean "not gonna happen", though. It means that there is a possibility that it will happen and a possibility that it will not happen.

So, an unlikely event happened, and they're letting us know so we can take advantage of that unexpected event.

The IF came true.

So does the above mean that those of us that are eligible for the second booster must have the second booster?

Well, I guess this is sort of a good thing. Someone who really wants to attend in person might be able to go now. If they can get that time off and make extremely short travel plans.
As for myself, I am extremely disappointed about how this panned out as once it became apparent that my group was not going to be able to ensure that they could purchase tickets we all had to pivot. As working adults with many obligations we can’t just turn on a dime and plan a massive trip in less than two weeks. While most of us did indeed request this week off of work (as we have to bid our vacations almost a year in advance) we would not lock ourselves into a position of getting a hotel room with the remote possibility of somehow maybe getting into this convention. My group is taking the money that we would have spent on attending this convention, getting hotel rooms and instead renting a large beach house for that weekend. And will indeed still be playing pathfinder, just not at this convention.
I do hope that these tickets mean that someone is going to enjoy themselves, but I do now wonder if there is actually going to be 500 attendees or if like myself many others who would have attended have now resigned themselves to not attending and made other plans, even if those plans are as simple as only doing online convention activities.

I’m in the same boat as you, Postal Apocalypse. I have to request all of an upcoming year’s vacation at the end of the preceding year. I had the time off for PaizoCon, but when it was announced they currently had no tickets for anyone who hadn’t bought tickets for 2020’s convention (and I hadn’t because of the pandemic), I gave all of those vacation days back; I’ll just roll them over to next year. I am disappointed, but I’ll get over it; thankfully, I hadn’t bought any airline tickets, so I’m out nothing but fun.

Probably. It's been shown that Covid-19 has mutated enough that while the earlier shots help, their efficacy is limited after a time. I know people who got the shots but still got Covid almost a year later (due to the variants springing up from it being able to circulate in unvaccinated hosts), though the shot helps reduce the effect it had. So the extra boosters essentially help refill the temp HP you get that the virus needs to burn through before it gets a good hold on you.

So, to clarify, if you're vaccinated, but haven't received a booster in the past 90 days (the eligibility window), you're ineligible to attend, do I have that correct?

Can we get some definitive clarification on that, as not only is that an incredibly tight timeline, its not an insignificant amount of money to spend to only be turned away due to poorly-defined guidelines.

Does anyone know how to get ahold of paizo? I've been emailing for a week. Just trying to figure out if I indeed do have tickets for this year, like the letter I got stated. (Which I can't find anywhere) thanks

If you go into My Account / Account Settings, there should be a box for PaizoCon that tells you if you have an e-ticket. As for contacting them, it sounds like you have already sent an e-mail. I assume you sent it to the normal customer support address and hopefully put PaizoCon in the subject line.

Yes I've emailed several different inboxes and called the service line as well as posted in some threads. Thank you for your help. I went ahead and bought a new ticket just in case the email I got lied to me. Lol again thank you. I'll keep trying to contact them to see if they can help me. See you at the con!!

You should not barrage them with e-mails. It is counterproductive as then they have to deal with each of those e-mails. My understanding is that they have a large number of e-mails to deal with.

It is much more effective to send one polite, well written, thought out e-mail that contains all the information you think is relevant. Things like the original order number (you can look it up in my orders), date of original order, and anything else you think might matter.

Also, did you check your account settings to see if you have a ticket? Buying another ticket when you already have one is just preventing someone else from being able to attend.

Bretl, I normally do not "barrage" However, with the short time line and the fact that it had been over a week I kinda need to know. And yes I did check my page. I remenber reading another thread that other people were having a similar issue with rollover tickets. (That they were removed from the site) I wouldn't have even thought to check had I not gotten the email that said I had a ticket from 2020. I cannot find said ticket which is why I just went ahead and bought a new one. I wouldn't want to take from someone else . However with no word either way from paizo I needed to hedge my bets. Now I KNOW I can attend. And not find out last minute that the email was sent in error or was just general email mailed to everyone or something. But thank you for your wise words. Now that I have a ticket I can afford to simmer down and wait.

Well, if you’re doing PFS, you should make sure to hit up Warhorn before you settle down to wait! Game sign ups are open still, I think.

Also worth noting that the phone line has been down for over two years now, because they work from home due to the pandemic. I've raised the issue that the FAQ still points to it, but they don't really seem to feel a need to remove it

PaizoCon starts one week from today. Any info on when the schedule will be released for the seminars/workshops/panels etc.?
