About Jakeric
Jakeric has only recently reached the age of adulthood. Raised in Kenabres on the edge of the Worldwound, his is an old, aristocratic family from the (now ruined) city of Undarin. A timid, stuttering lad with a limp, Jakeric was always pushed by his family towards bookish pursuits. But in his heart, he wanted a life of adventure—and a chance to reclaim the heritage of his people! When he discovered the spark of divine magic within him that would have made him a tribal God-Caller in ages past, Jakeric set off with his new companion, the upright bear Grizzlebin, to reclaim his birthright. But, knowing he was far too experienced to enter the Worldwound, he realised he had better first gain experience in travel and battle—so he joined the Pathfinder Society!
Jakeric’s career as a Pathfinder sure got off to a rough start! In his first mission, he was sent to the deserts of Osirion to find a missing agent named Colm Safan at an ancient monument named the Ravenous Sphinx. After barely surviving an Aspis Consortium ambush on the way, Jakeric and his friends found Colm’s body at the entrance to the Sphinx. Realising the complex must be full of traps, they dared only remove Colm’s body (technically accomplishing the mission) before retreating altogether.
In his second mission, he and the same team were sent to Katapesh to investigate and recover a massive skeleton seen near a mysterious phenomenon called the “Asmodean Mirage”. The group reached the mirage, found themselves trapped inside it, and barely managed to escape with their lives, failing the mission entirely.
And then, in a third mission closer to home, Jakeric and his allies investigated an old siege castle near Absalom but were driven off by several troglodytes!
The Pathfinder Society, in its wisdom, decided to keep Jakeric back at the lodge as a liaison with field teams for a couple of missions so that he could read their notes and learn what success looks like. He studied carefully the mission of a team investigating paranormal phenomena in Ustalav and a team tasked with tricking a bandit in Jalmeray. Each of the teams brought Jakeric back a souvenir: a magic harrow card (from Ustalav) and a cool tiger mask (from Jalmeray)!
Eventually, the Pathfinder Society gave Jakeric something he didn't know: a last chance! Assigned to help find some missing apprentices in the remove village of Saringallow, he finally found success and helped to solve the mystery and recover everyone alive. Indeed, the mission was such a success, the Society asked him to stay in the area where he helped oust some troublesome goblins from their nearby base!
Jakeric knows membership in the Pathfinder Society is his best chance of gaining the skill and power to someday fight back the hordes of the Worldwound--and thus restore his birthright as a God-Caller of Lost Undarin . . .
