Garidan Hemlock |

Shakingly, Garidan downs the vial of Antiplague and nods on the suggestion to go home.

![]() |

Penflower says "That's a good idea, going back. Right now, they're getting ready for us. We need to regroup and only come when we're ready for that."
We have many players with high strength. I doubt we can't haul 10 bulk of books.

Jon Yddina |

"Sounds good. I'm starting to run low on my specialty rounds anyway," Jon agrees.

Garidan Hemlock |

24 hours later, Garidan roll your Fortitude save.
Fort, Antiplague: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 = 25 +2 if someone makes a successcul Treat Disease

AbominationVaults_DM |

Garidan is cured of ghoul fever. The party is refreshed at full hps. Do you head back to Level 3?

![]() |

Penflower recommends the group let him take the blunt of ghoul attacks, since he's immune to their disease. He also says "I really want to clear that place of ghouls. They've made me angry."

Hagrym |

”We need to go back loaded for bear….i mean, ghouls. Aw whatever you know what i mean,” Hagrym grumbles as he finishes off a tasty pastry he has bought earlier in the morning.
Please see my OOC post re possible magical gear I might want to buy. Thanks!

Garidan Hemlock |

On their way back home, Garidan tries not to shake. But he was obviously afraid.
He goes straight home and into his bed, tryinto sleep the Ghoul Fever off. Like a common cold. What a stupid thought.
But after a good amount of sleep, he actually felt better. That Antiplague apparently won the fight.
With his newly found optimism, he visits Carman Rajani, where the party had already unloaded their treasures. He found the type of whip he was looking for and tasked the man with a rune transfer once again.
Before rejoining the party, he refreshed his Antiplague stock. You never know...

AbominationVaults_DM |

After curing Garidan's disease and doing some shopping, the party is ready to take another foray into the depths. Map has been updated - many places to go. Let me know where you wish to go.

Garidan Hemlock |

"That was scary. I hope we're all OK the same page here. If something like that happens again, don't let me become a ghoul. Yah?"
Garidan follows Mac and his pick.

Shelves on the wall here contain iron sorting racks, jars, and all manner of bookbinding tools.
This room contains repair materials for the upkeep of books. All are too old to be useful. Searching this room discovers two 2nd-level
scrolls: Scroll of mending and a scroll of hypercognition. There is nothing else of interest in this room.

Hagrym |

Hagrym fell in line with his mates. He was a bit quieter than usual, between eating the remaining pastries he picked up from town and a bit intimidated by the power of the ghouls the group had encountered already.

AbominationVaults_DM |

The next NW door leads to a 10' passage leading to another door west. Assuming you continue exploring west, you reach the following room:
This office is brightly lit by several glowing lights in a chandelier hanging above a desk and chair. Mirrors hang on the north and south wall, although both of them are badly cracked.
The western door leading from this room is locked, and the lock plate is engraved with a stylized open book.
Continue going west or some other direction? Map has been updated.

scrolls: Scroll of mending and a scroll of hypercognition. There is nothing else of interest in this room.
Is this a 2nd set of these scrolls, or did we accidentely visit this room twice?
"Let's head back. There were some rooms just in front of the Scrivener's workshop. And I also believe, there was a door behind his desk."

![]() |

Penflower agrees with Garidan and adds "Remember the ghouls are alerted to us and yesterday we killed a high profile member of their group. If we find them again, and can see them before they see us, it'd be nice to have a few rounds for buffs some preparation time."

Jon Yddina |

"I think we have the key for this lock," Jon says, holding up a bronze key with a book on it (from the Loot doc). "But if you'd rather check the unsecured doors first, that might be wise."

AbominationVaults_DM |

There is only set of those scrolls. I checked the loot chart and they were not listed. If they were mentioned before, guess you already visited this room. Please amend loot list to reflect that you have find 4 Bulk worth of books thus far.
Jon, in fact, does have a key that seems to fit the lock in the door of C26. However, you decided to investigate the doors in front of the scrivener's workshop.
The first room:
Three plain beds have been awkwardly stacked against the west wall of this room, leaving room for a single low table heaped with foul-smelling chunks of flesh and bone of a dead morlock.
There is nothing else of interest in this room.
The second room is a storeroom for firefighting supplies:
Several buckets of sand and a number of large barrels crowd this cramped storeroom. A simple wooden case with a closed lid is attached to the back of the door.
Inside the case, you find a wand of quench.
Where to next?

![]() |

Penflower says "But before, they seem to be preparing to stop a fire. We might want to ponder as to why. Or at least what type of advantage this could bring us."
He says "It's unlikely the morlocks were trying to burn them or something, as the fire would eventually rise to their level. They could be protecting from something coming from below. In any case, we should hold on to this wand in case... well, in case the danger comes for us as well."
The elf is thinking of something more dangerous than wild fire. Namely, he is scared of fire with intent, such as an elemental.

Jon Yddina |

"I reckon they gathered firefighting supplies in case they accidentally set a fire in the library with a candle or something," Jon muses, "But you could be right, Pen, that there is something fiery down below, and it never hurts to be on our guard. I mixed up some cold rounds today that could be useful against fire." Jon loads one barrel of his pistol with a cold round and the other with an acid round.
"Now, let's see what's behind the locked door." Jon inserts the key into the lock, turns it, and opens the door.

AbominationVaults_DM |

Jon opens the door to reveal:
This room looks exceptionally comfortable with a thick carpet, bright light from a glowing chandelier, and soothing incense. Two overstuffed chairs sit opposite a low table stacked with books, while more books sit on a set of shelves to the west. A softly gurgling fountain carved to resemble a mossy skull leaking water sits in the northwest corner.
You also see a curious sight: A 2' tall glowing fairy-looking creature with two sets of wings on its back sits awkwardly in one of the oversized (for it) chairs in the room as it focuses on balancing a book a little bit too large for it to handle. The fairy creature periodically cackles and titters over the book as it sems to annotate its text with a colorful quill.
Unfortunately, due to the bright glow emanating from the creature and the light in the room, you cannot make out the creature's exact features. It does not appear to notice any of you standing at the entrance as it appears to be engrossed in the book it is reading.
You are all at the entrance to the room and have not stepped in. What do you do? A door leads north and another door leads south from this room. The slide of the room is #7.

![]() |

Penflower looks at the creature and exchanges looks with Garidan, trying to figure out what it is.
What Recall Knowledge roll would this be? I have +8 in Arcana and Society, +5 in Nature and Religion.

Garidan Hemlock |

Lore: Esoteric: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Garidan answers Pen's look with a whisper. "This is a insert by GM. I once met a druid that loved to hit the bottle. He had some weird fetishes and this over there was one of them." He points at the creature.

AbominationVaults_DM |

Garidan identifies the small creature as a Lurker in Light, an evil fey who has ties to the First World and is weak to cold iron. It is also has very keen perception, as it looks up at the party, as it appears to hear your whispers. The creature appears annoyed, as it puts the book down and initiates combat!
Initiative:
Lurker in Light: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Garidan: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Hagrym: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Jon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Mac: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Pen: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Initiative: Jon, Lurker, and then rest of the party.

Then he activates◆ and fires◆ his acid round.

P/Concussive + Precision Damage + 1 acid splash damage: 1d4 + 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (4) + 1 = 6
Sword & Pistol + Lesser Acid Ammo: If that was a hit, it is off-guard to my next melee attack and takes 1 persistent acid damage.

Round 1: The Lurker in Light
The evil fey winces as Jon's bullet strikes it, causing 6 damage. The creature casts a spell at Jon, causing bright light to burn Jon's retina.
Jon, please roll a DC 22 Fortitude save.
The creature then flies north, using its reaction to blend into the bright light of the area to go invisible.
Party is up. You do not see the fey creature. The room is bathed in bright light from the chandelier as well as Garidan's lantern.

Well phooey

AbominationVaults_DM |

Jon, you are now blind. The evil fey cackles, "Not so funny now, are ya?" He said that before turning invisible.

Garidan Hemlock |

Garidan wonders about the strange fey creature and how it was able to disappear so quickly, after casting a spell at Jon.
◆ Esoteric Lore: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 11 - 2 = 28 2nd Recall Knowledge about the Lurker's special abilities

Penflower says "Hold on guys, it's about to get dark in here."
He focuses on the chandelier and swings his sword at it. The air that comes out is a lot more than would be expected from a simple sword swing. He then assumes a fighting posture.
Cast Slashing Gust targetting the chandelier. Then Arcane Cascade. I think I have to let go of my sword for this because it has a free hadn pre-req. Let me know if I'm wrong or if you thought me using a sword for the spell focus is so cool that I can ignore the pre-req.
Slashing Gust: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) = 8

Garidan Hemlock |

that's what my RK result should tell me

AbominationVaults_DM |

The fey can turn invisible in an area of bright light. It can also cast spells and illuminate targets that it strikes.

Garidan Hemlock |

With Garidan's knowledge, Pen acts quickly and accordingly. With a mere thought Garidan steps back, so that only dim light shine into the room. Then he casts Guidance on Mac.

AbominationVaults_DM |

The combination of Pen's spell and Garidan's actions cause the light in the room to lower to dim, revealing the Lurker in Light.

Maclin "Mac" Stoneheart |

Round 1: Mac
Unhindered by the dim light due to his darkvision, Mac strides toward the creature, buffed by Garidan, and attacks it twice.
Strike: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Strike: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

AbominationVaults_DM |

Mac's first attack misses by 1 (AC 22). The second attack lands, inflicting 6 damage. Hagrym is up to end Round 1.

Hagrym |

Harry rushes in and flanks the creature with his cousin. He then swings his hammer at it.
Attack with flank 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 2 = 29
Damage 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Looks like flanking catches the opponent off guard and it loses AC but I just wrote it up this way, so that we don’t have to remember to subtract two from AC off screen. Also, could you move me please, GM.

AbominationVaults_DM |

Hagrym double moves and provides Mac with the flank so both of his attacks land and he then attacks, inflicting damage as well. 25 damage to the fey.
Jon is up, but since he is blind, will post creature's action for this round, so rest of party can follow.
Round 2: Lurker
The fey creature lashes out 3x with its claws at Mac for damaging it.
Strike: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31 --- critical
Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5 x2 = 10 damage
Strike: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 --- miss!
Strike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 --- miss!
Party is up!

Garidan Hemlock |

"Nasty little bugger, isn't it?" Garidan ◆ sets down the lantern to keep the light dim in the room and ◆ moves in, too. Standing next to the little creature, he decides to simply fetch it with his now free hand.
Grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

![]() |

Penflower moves in to flank with Garidan and swings his sword, making it flame.
Stride, Spellstrike with ignition.

Fire damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1) = 9
