"Agreed," Ernhild nods somberly. "But what else are we going to do with that deck? Leave it here? A voice can always be blocked out."

Tisha Nerifaren |

Look at the number of kids that we got out of an abusive situation. And we were all fine. So I'm sure everything will be fine.
If the emergency was just the king dying, then do any of you need to head out? It does not seem to have anything to do with me.

Narciso the Sorcerer |

"Agreed," Ernhild nods somberly. "But what else are we going to do with that deck? Leave it here? A voice can always be blocked out."
Narciso mutters a sotto voice reply "We could chuck it into the river..."
More loudly, he continues: "I'm with Tisha, doesn't make much of a difference to me who sits on the throne, so the king dying means little. Although riots are a bad thing..."

Narciso the Sorcerer |

I would love to have a ghostly adviser
Tisha looks at the deck with wide eyed excitement.
"If you want to carry around the creepy haunted harrow deck, be my guest."

![]() |

"I expect more wounded to be brought to the temple." Judging by Ernhild's tone, it isn't good news.
"Be my guest," she tosses the deck to Tisha with a surprising nonchalance that all but says "I can't deal with this shit at the moment".

Tisha Nerifaren |

Tisha catches the deck and carefully flips it over in her hands.
Hi, can you hear me?
So if we are splitting up, should we divide up what we found in Gaedran’s hideout?

![]() |

"I expect it will take less time to track down the owners of the rarest objects ourselves than to leave the guard take care of it," Ernhild steps in. "They've got enough on their plates already - and if the King is actually dead, things will not get better."

Tisha Nerifaren |

I have so many questions…. Can you see things around you when you are not using the illusion? Having a second set of eyes would be so useful when I’m scouting!
Tisha looks in her bag at all the stuff she gathered and fishes out the brooch and the Key Dagger.
Well these seems to be the most valuable and easily identifiable. Do we start with looking for who these were taken from?
What about the weapons and armor? I seriously doubt those were stolen. Most likely they were purchased using the money from fenced goods that are long gone. So there is nobody to return them to. Do we just split that up? Seems a waste to stick them in some watch warehouse if one of us could use them to keep people safe in the chaos out there.

![]() |

Ernhild suspects that Tisha might want to keep the shiny weapons for reasons that have little to do with charity, but lets it slide. "Whatever."

Tisha Nerifaren |

Well since this seems important, how do we tell I if something is magical?
Tisha pulls a number of items out of her backpack.
Looks like we have:
two wands. One wood that we know shoots acid and an unknown obsidian one.
Two daggers - one very nice (+1) and one normal.
A nice set of padded armor (+1)
A nice hand Crossbow
Leather armor
Light crossbow
A thunder stone
A very nice Shuriken
An Adamantine Arrowhead
And the strange key shaped dagger.
Who can use what?
I wouldn’t be opposed to the hand crossbow or dagger, but I already have the Harrow Deck so everyone else should take what they need rirst.

Tisha Nerifaren |

Oh wait
Tisha takes a card out of the deck and holds it up to her forehead and then looks at the items looking before her.
You all see that the card she picks is the Crows an oddly dark omen for this task. But Tisha never looks at the card and so has no idea.
Identify Obsidian Wand DC16: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Identify Dagger DC 18: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Identify Padded Armor DC 18: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Looks like that is a wand of Magic Missle. A magic dagger of some type but I can't tell what it does, and the Padded armor is extra protective.

Ernhild picks up the dagger, and turns it in her hands pensively. "Not much I can use," she finally declares, and puts the dagger down.

Narciso the Sorcerer |

"I can use the wands, but let me see that dagger..."
Narciso examines the dagger.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 1 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 3 + 4 = 20
1 rank +3 trained +4 int

Narciso the Sorcerer |

"It's a pretty generic enhancement charm - makes the weapon do more damage and is easier to use..."
(+1 dagger)
He continues "Let me sketch the brooch and that strange key-dagger". As he is working on his sketches, a thought occurs to him "Wait, we found two of these garnet amulets (1 & 2)... Could they be some sort of identifying item? We should interrogate Yagrin some more. Also, I want to take a try at cracking the code of the ledger..."
Who speak varisian and has linguistics? I have no ranks in linguistics, so the best I can do is aid another with a take 10...If not, it will have to wait until next level, whereupon I will have a rank in linguistics (and the ability to speak Varisian...

Tisha Nerifaren |

I have a trick that will let me understand and Read most anything for a short time.
Tisha reached out and sets her hand on the book while reaching out with her spirit to the natural forces that connect everything. She feels her soul connect with the spirit of the book and the writing suddenly becomes clear.
Comprehend Languages as spell like ability
It’s a ledger written in Varisian. It has dates and some amounts, but the descriptions don’t make any sense….
She flips to the next page and the next.
It has to be some sort of code. We need some someone trained in breaking codes to figure this out.
She flips most of the way through the book.
Whatever is tracked here is pretty extensive. But I can’t tell you more. I’ve never studied these kind of locks.
Sorry Linguistics is Trained only I think, so I can’t even just roll it

![]() |

"Some kind of ledger book, maybe?" Ernhild flips through the pages. It doesn't resemble anything she knows. "Can Zellara read it?" she hands it back to Tisha.

![]() |

"Possibly. I can ask around, but I expect whatever's in that book to raise a few questions."

Tisha Nerifaren |

Tisha jumps back from the brooch like it's going to attack her.
Oh crap, we need to get this out of our hands as soon as possible. If someone saw this, they would think we took it!
But if the news about the riots at the castle are true, I don't know that going anywhere tonight is a good idea. Maybe we plan to get together tomorrow and return the brooch after things have calmed down?

Tisha Nerifaren |

Tish looks over at the wands and weapons.
Do you all want any if this, or do you want me to find a shop to sell all the weapons and nondescript stuff? We can split whatever I get for it so each of you can do what you want. Put it in the bank, fund the watch retirement collection, spend it on food or just give it to orphans.

Briggi Plannten |

You can keep what ya want and we can split the gold. I'm going to head back to headquarters and see about getting the report filled out for this brooch. See ya all tomorrow.
Briggi heads out and hurries to HQ, wary of any rioters and other troublemakers before hopefully arriving there.
Private Briggi reporting for duty Sa! He salutes and speaks to the desk sergeant. I recovered a valuable brooch from a well known criminal by the name of Gaedron Lamm. Several deputized civilians aided me doing so and I wish to fill out a report on it. The brooch has been reported as stolen from the nobility.

Ernhild takes the vial of silversheen, and decidedly leaves the statue of the two succubi behind - although she does examine it for a few moments.
With not much else to do, she slowly returns to her cramped little room. As she undoes her armour, she notices the blood stains left by the crocodile on the breast plate, and takes some time to clean and oil her chainmail. Her rag turns a dirty shade of red. She lets it soak in soapy water while she cares for her warhammer, encrusted with bits of bones and raw flesh.
She attempts to take a nap, but doesn't sleep.
When back at the temple, she begins to inquire surreptitiously if anyone might have a look at the ledge book found on Gamlen's body. She asks Dilipom first; after all, they knew each other well, and he spoke Varisian.
Not sure if I have to roll anything; take 10 on a Diplomacy check for a result of 15?

Narciso the Sorcerer |

Narciso takes the wand of magic missile from the accumulated loot, and then he pushes aside the garnet amulets and the dagger shaped like a key. "Let's not set these just yet, I'm curious about these", then he continues, looking over to Tisha: "I'll come with you, give you a hand carrying stuff."

...
As Briggi is leaving, Narciso asks him "If you get a chance, when they're interrogating Yagrin, find out about those amulets."

Several deputized civilians aided me doing so and I wish to fill out a report on it. The brooch has been reported as stolen from the nobility.
"Stolen goods? Do I look like I care about stolen goods? There are riots going on in town and you want to write a report? You go out there again and either find a patrol you can join, or you find and bring me Sergeant Grau. DISMISSED."
The watch captain is obviously in a bad mood.

Archibald Atherton |

When back at the temple, she begins to inquire surreptitiously if anyone might have a look at the ledge book found on Gamlen's body. She asks Dilipom first; after all, they knew each other well, and he spoke Varisian.
The Bank of Abadar's gilded gates are closed, and a contingent of the Coin’s Faithful stand at the ready, armed with crossbows to repel would-be looters.
"There is nothing to do for you today, go back home." Ernhild is greeted by a superior.

Tisha Nerifaren |

Tisha starts packing all the stuff up.
As she does she looks over at the Magic Fortune Teller.
You know Zellara, I just realized we should ask, is there anything you want done with your effects or this building? We can contact someone for you, if you have a next of kin... although that would probably be tomorrow as I guess we already assumed we would meet here in the morning...
Sorry about that.
After she gets a response, Tisha also asks:
If you have been in the neighborhood a while, do you know of any good pawn shops in the area?

![]() |

"What a warm welcome," Ernhild comments dryly. "What's the matter? Aren't there patients to take care of?"

Foxy Quickpaw |

After she gets a response, Tisha also asks:
If you have been in the neighborhood a while, do you know of any good pawn shops in the area?
Zellara points out business of that kind not too far away, but you find it closed and locked and no one willing to open it.

Tisha Nerifaren |

Did you answer the first part where I was starting to ask about the house in character?
As they stand before the closed shop Tisha turns to Narciso
Hmmmm… Everything Magic seems to be closed for the night. Should we meet up in the morning and see if it is open then?
If it’s agreed, Tisha tries to get back to her rented room by staying in the shadows and trying to hide at any signs of danger.

Narciso the Sorcerer |

"You know what, let's not split up. There's too much trouble on the wind with all this rioting. I'm not confident my room at the college dorm will be secure... Do you have a secure spot? If not, how about we go together to collect our stuff from our places, and then go back to the fortune tellers townhouse..."
