”Ugh, this is a bad one. A bearded devil, I think it’s called. Those wounds will keep bleeding unless someone is trained in the Heal ability. Magical healing isn’t certain either, as it takes a powerful casting of the spell to defeat the infernal resistance of the wound. If the healing spell takes, it will stop the bleeding…”

Gnagnatsu will retrieve her shuriken and pull out a healing wand in case more magic is needed.

The ninja spins around, twirling her wand like a baton, then poses with the wand pointed at Jaakko. "Shelyn's ♥love♥ be upon you!"

Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Caster level Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
When nothing happens, she shakes the wand and looks quizzically at the tip. "Huh. Shelyn's ♥love♥ must be busy right now."

Keene approaches the book, wondering if this tome was the one the group was seeking. ”I’m going for the book. Make sure nothing happens…and someone try to put that fire out, if you can,” Keene directs the group.
Dimak

Dimak crushes the head of the devil with his hammer, then lets his anger go and waits until he feels normal again. (=no more fatigued)
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's dead now. I'll go check on the bodies in the corners. Maybe they are still alive?"
He stomps over to the single body lying face down first.
Jaakko Varpunen
|
"Yargos! I hope it isn't too late to save you, can you tell what happened?" Jaakko kneels over the body and tries to estimate whether he will survive
Dimak
|
"You got this, Jaakko, right? I'll check on the other bodies..."
Dimak moves over to the other corner adjacent to the entrance.
Dimak
|
"Oh no, these two are quite dead. Looks like there's nothing I can do to help them."
Dimak moves back to the corner with Yargos and tries to help figuring out what is wrong with him.

Gnagnatsu pulls out a rope. "Not who I usually use this for, but maybe we should tie the thing up so nothing else bad comes out of it?"
Morait
|
"Nononono. A devil came out of that, so that book is probably an extradimensional space. Do you know what happens when you stick one inside another? Best case, nothing happens. Worst case, you explode. More likely, you wind up floating around the astral plane pondering your life choices and hoping that bird-faced bastard over there ain't hungry. Tie it shut, maybe glue some holy symbols to it if you like, but for the love of all that is holy and unholy, do not but the daemon artifact in the gods damned magic bag."
Dimak
|
"Can you explain what the h*ll happened here, Yargos? We had to defeat a bearded devil when we entered! And those two people are dead!"
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
| GM Redelia |
Yargos babbles quite a bit, explaining that Nicola, one of his aids, betrayed him and Lauralei, another aid, came to his defense. (these are the two dead bodies in the room). The act of their violence further spurred the already resurgent Infernal Incantation into action, releasing one of its fiendish prisoners.
Yargos also tells you that he dispatched one of his aides to Amara Li and the Society, while another went to deliver the Celestial Song to Ollysta Zadrian with hopes that the paladin could find a way to reverse the ritual. Per his information on Ollysta, Yargos knows she has spent much of her time as of late in Gilltown, purchasing necromantic items in order to remove them from the open market.
Yargos laments his actions and promises never to involve himself in such works again, claiming that only misery and woe have come from his research. Despite this lamentation, Yargos insists that you help him in rectifying his mistake by reinforcing the bindings within the book—an act that he assumes can only be accomplished when the infernal tome is reunited with its sister, the Celestial Song. He insists that you ask Ollysta for help right away.
Rondolpho Keene

”Welp, seems like the only prudent thing is to find Ollysta and the sister tome. Assuming you think you can pull off the binding reinforcement, that is,” the mage says with a crooked eye at Yargos.
Dimak
|
"Ask Ollysta Zadrian for help, she should be in Gilltown or not far from there. Got it." Dimak turns to his fellow Pathfinders. "We should get moving, then." The barbarian seems eager to get this mission done quickly.
Dimak
|
"Why'd Nicola betray you?"
Morait says.
"Well, Yargos? Answer the question, so we can get going!"
Gotta show his low Cha somehow... ;-)
| GM Redelia |
"I have no idea."
since no one has suggested anything else, I'll move us along.
Yargos accompanies you to Gilltown, where Ollysta Zadrian can probably be found. You are now about halfway there.
The hustle and bustle of Absalom’s Eastgate district is nearly deafening as hundreds of locals make their way from their homes in the residential quarter to places of business and pleasure elsewhere in the city. In the distance the sounds of chattering voices, stamping feet, and even the occasional cry of traveling elephants break the calm. The noises recede into the background as Yargos Gill pushes ahead into a side street alley. The old man eventually stops halfway in the alley by an open refuse bin to catch his breath.
please place yourselves on the revealed part of the map.

"You ok, Yargos? Take a few deep breaths, that should help."
I placed Dimak's token on the revealed part of the map.

@Rondolpho Keene: Done.
@all: If you need assistence editing the map (like Keene), I can move or place tokens for you (if you want me to do so). I'm happy to help! :-)

While Yargos is catching his breath, Jaakko looks around to see if anyone is trying to sneak up on group.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

People who are obviously street thugs appear on both sides of the alley. It is clear from their leers that they have set up an ambush for you.
Yargos jumps into the garbage bin to hide.

Keene was pretty prepared for the ambush. He concentrates and uses his Splintered Spear ability, and conjures a wicked looking wooden speak which flies towards the green clad enemy.
Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
If hits, also does 2 bleed damage per round. First use of the day of that ability.
Jaakko Varpunen

Jaakko steps in front of Jasmine and prepares to strike enemies who come too close.
+1 flail: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
| GM Redelia |
Green is very badly hurt, and flees at the start of his turn. You don't think he'll make it very far with that bleed damage.
Morait's arrow misses.
Red, yellow, and blue all move forward.
yellow would trigger an AoO from Morait, but he's not holding a melee weapon
yellow attacks Morait.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
red cannot attack because of the corner.
blue attacks Jaakko.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
party is up, Morait -3 HP.

Morait slips between yellow and the wall, draws his rapier, and tries to shank him in the spine with it.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 2 = 25
damage: 1d6 + 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + (3, 6, 5) + 7 = 22
Bleeding for 3 damage per turn

Jaakko steps to left and bashes the blue twice with flail.

It doesn't seem like these are enough of a threat to use any fancy tricks on, so Gnagnatsu moves towards Red (who is very inconveniently placed) and swings a small blade at it.
