When the ritual goes sideways, Slick rolls his eyes. "Nobody ever listens to me." Once the dust settles, he finds himself flat on his back and groans. It takes him a few seconds to recover, during which all hell is breaking loose above him. "Oh well, back to work we go."

He arches his back and flips onto his feet, looking about to determine which enemy to deal with first. The purrodaemons threatening Sigourney seem like obvious candidates. He launches himself at one of them and starts slashing away at it.

Re: Party are all Doomed 1
Billy succeeded a Doomed flat check in my previous post.

Billy has already had some close calls. Time to be prepared. He sings,
♫"Though it bears repeating. I sing with grace and ease.
Time is very fleeting. Let's try to make it freeze."
♫
Cast Freeze Time to gain 9 actions. (can't target/affect anyone but himself)

In the blink of an eye, Billy does the following:
First set of 3 actions
◆ Retrieve Heroism scroll
◆◆ Cast Heroism (rank 9) (from scroll)
Second set of 3 actions
◆◆ Cast Soothe (rank 6)
Soothe (6th rank): 6d10 + 24 ⇒ (4, 8, 10, 9, 10, 9) + 24 = 74
◆ Step (toward the dragon turret)
Third set of 3 actions
◆◆ Cast Heal (rank 2) (from Sorc spell slots)
Heal (2nd rank): 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (3, 3) + 16 = 22
◆ Cast Shield (hardness: 25)
Total healing: 96 hp, Heroism: +3, Shield: +1 AC

Billy stops time and brings himself a lot of relief.

Red Raven glares at the turret and scowls in annoyance. Well, if your magic cannot be dispelled we shall simply have to kill you Sigoruney.

With that she casts a spell and flies quickly over the table, closing the distance on the party and then casts a second spell, seeking to shred Sigourney's spirit.

Sigourney will recognise a time jump followed by a rank 9 spirit blast. You may make a recognise spell check and then roll your own fortitude save.

Sigourney winces as the blast shreds her spirit.

"Argh! You may have a point...But by moving up close you have just opened yourself up. Get her!"

Sigourney's Effortless Concentration allows Calthaxitakin's Dragon Tower to act.

Deciding that discretion is the better part of valor, Sigourney Stands up and Strides towards Billy and Pine in the hopes that they can provide healing.

"Now Reginald, stop the Orange one from getting closer! Stitch him up!" Sigourney Commands Reginald to act.

Sigourney relocates herself and her dragons blasts the enemy. All of the enemies snarl on pain although Raven seems a little resistant.

I forgot to mention that Raven is also now concealed.

Sigourney takes part of the blast and then it grounds itself as Billy dodges out of the way. He then whacks Reginald out of spite for having been immobilised but the blow goes wide.

Sigourney is down, but reducing the enemy's offensive ability (by killing them) is a more pressing need. Plus Pine can see that Billy is already moving to deal with that.

So he hops closer to the big stupid demon ball-thing. "What's your weak point?" he asks it, "Right HERE, right?"

Slick leaps at the daemons, his first blow cuts Orange in half, He then lands a couple of blows on Purple.

Blue Raven also flies forward and casts a spell.

Blue Raven opens her mouth wide and unleashes a terrifying wail of the damned!

This has the auditory trait and so can be subject to counter performance if Billy wants to do so and has a focus point. Wail does have the death trait and deals damage even on a successful save.

Everyone passes. I think Pines upgrade to a crit still works with him taking the counter performance roll, his 41 is a fail. So Pine takes nothing, Billy takes 42 after resist and Sigourney dies but then gets 70HP from the Midwife. No-one gets drained.

One thing to note. Sigoruney is wounded 1 and doomed 1. If she goes down to a critical hit she will die. Just something to be aware of.

Ready to step in if Sigourney didn't make it, Billy nods to the sprite, "Nicely done, Pine!" Deciding to spend the last of his focus energy to keep the witch alive, Billy lays hands on Sigourney to heal her further.
Lay on Hands: Sig heals 60. Cost: 1 focus point (his last)

Feeling the power of the divine leylines running through him, Billy turns his attention to the nearest (blue) Raven. Drawing upon his divine magic, he chants, ♫"For Raven, we need a solution. Enjoy some divine retribution!"♫
Cast Suspended Retribution (w/ leyline support and overcharge) at Blue Raven -- triggering when she Casts a Spell.

Suspended Retribution details:
From our GM, via Discord, a while back:
Sigourney determines that if you manage to tap into the leylines here all divinations you cast will be treated as three ranks higher. Obviously we dont have schools any more so it would be on a case by case basis. Also, you can overcharge a divination spell once to increase any attack or DC by 4. Failing or critically failing to tap into the leyline is likely to be very bad. Given it only affects divination effects I doubt anyone wants to give it a go yet.

Before entering the manor, Billy did spend time to tap into the divine leylines.

Spell: Suspended Retribution (w/ overcharge)
Traits: Prediction (note that the legacy version includes Divination).
Rank: Cast at Rank 6, but functions as Rank 9.
Range: 60' (plenty of range, accounting for Raven being 10' up)
Duration: 1 minute
Trigger: When Blue Raven casts a spell.
Damage: Normally 70 mental (at rank 6), but 3 ranks higher from leylines: 101 mental (at rank 9, plus CA)
Basic Reflex Save (101 damage): Normally DC 45, but with overcharge, it's DC 49.
Note: Target can ward off the omen by spending a total of 3 actions. These actions need not be consecutive.

Billy provides Sigourney with some much needed healing and conjures a massive glowing starknife. Raven gives the thing a disgusted grunt.

Across the chamber, the second Raven spreads the cards of the deck of fate in her hand and gestures towards Slick. Pick a card, any card, but know this, almost all of them are Death!

This is not a spell, this is a magical effect. It has the Death trait but no others. I need a Will save from Slick. I will let you roll your own save.

Slick, his hands full with the flying meatball hovering before him, nevertheless keeps an eye on the goings-on with Sigourney and everyone's successful attempts (so far) to keep her alive. He's about to return to his work when Raven beckons him to pick a card. "Seriously, lady!? I'm kinda busy here right now. Maybe we can play cards later, eh?"

But it seems that Slick has little choice in the matter as he is compelled to randomly pick a card from her hand from a distance. "Here goes nothing..."

Will with Antimagic vs DC ??: 1d20 + 32 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 32 + 1 = 52

From where he stands, Slick cannot tell which card he'd picked, but given he hadn't spontaneously combusted into a pile of ashes, he assumes it wasn't one of the deadly ones.

Slick finds himself with quite a bad headache.

In the space between life and death:

Sigourney awakes to find herself in a familiar library. Within the walls of the Forae Logos in Absalom, she is suddenly seated at a wooden reading bench. The sun shines through the tinted glass windows directly above her, illuminating the quiet reading room. Strangely, the library is devoid of any other people.

A short woman with blood-red eyes approaches. Her face is framed with strands of short light-blue hair that barely cover a piercing gaze. Her long red nails grasp a book in one hand. From her back, bat like wings slowly flap up and down as she approaches the seat opposite from Sigourney. The furniture voices its disapproval with a loud creak as the woman sits down.

Sigourney looks up, her cold eyes blazing with recognition. "Ah, Remilia. It has been a long time. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"

Remilia smiles, revealing long and pointy fangs. She rummages for a pocket mirror which she places on the table and faces towards Sigourney. Sigourney's neutral expression cracks as she stares back at her reflection in the mirror. Her body, battered, burnt, frozen and shocked by a Cataclysm. Blood pouring from every orfice on her face as a horrifying wail burst several important blood vessels.

"I'm...dead then." Sigourney's icey facade cracks with her own statement. In frustration, she pounds the desk with her fist. "That can't be. I had so much more I wanted to do. I was to save the world from Raven. Get myself and Reginald a place to live. Build up Harrowheart to become my personal demiplane. Actually attend one of Billy and Pine's performances. Go out with Slick. And then find you again..." Each wish is punctuated with a slam of frustration before ending in an anguished sob.

The vampire waits patiently for Sigourney's outburst to conclude before pointing at the tinted glass window nearest to them. Momentarily puzzled, Sigourney looks up. Absalom's sun no longer shines through them - instead a familiar scene is present. Slick, Billy and Pine facing off against the Ravens and their two daemons. Slick cuts giant gashes into the beast. Billy singing his heart out to drown out the sound of the wail for Pine. And Pine...

"No!" Pine says assertively, calling on the power of The Midwife.

Sigourney suddenly feels her heart pumping again. Life rushes back into her body. A sudden gust of wind whips around her like a blizzard, carrying her out of the library and right out of the window - back to reality.

Remilia waves goodbye to Sigourney with a pale hand and a smile. With a mix of elation and sadness, Sigourney waves back.

---

Sigourney gasps back to life and reaches for her face. The blood flowing from her ears and nose has miraculously clotted. Though her body is still searing with pain from the elemental damage she's taken on, Sigourney is back to life.

Sigourney's patron roars her approval as the Witch comes to and blasts some more fire at Purple and Red Raven.

"Pine, this is why you are my favourite." She says gratefully to the Sprite as she shakily stands up. With trembling hands she invokes her Vital Beacon (5th rank) to give herself just a little more health.

Vital Beacon (5th), Healing: 5d10 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 9, 2) = 25

She then draws on her Psychic powers to give Slick a quick Amped Message. "Finish that big Purple thing off and get over here, quickly!"

Slick looks at the floating meatball he's been beating up on and is a little surprised to see it still stand..., uh, hovering. He suspects it wouldn't take much more than a good kick in the shins..., uh, fins, to finish it off, but if that attack turned out to not be enough, he'd have to remain and forfeit any chance of attacking the other floating meatball. He sighs and takes another short leap, bringing his sword down twice on the wounded creature, hopefully for the last time.

That's a crit, so if the first strike didn't kill Purple, this one certainly did.

Slick watches the no-longer-floating meatball fall to the ground with some satisfaction. He turns and sees the remaining daemon threatening the rest of his friends in the distance and wonders how to best cover that ground.

He then remembers the charm on his belt that he received from The Courtesan weeks ago, and with a tap of his hilt against it, he instantly teleports next to the last floating meatball and strikes at it twice, with added force.

Action 3 (◆): Interact - The Courtesan's charm.

Raven is so close. Pine could get to her, but he doesn't want to leave this fiend alive when he's sure he could finish it. Besides, it might be best to move up with Slick...

Pine focuses on flying around the big meatball, poking at the most opportune spots.

If Pink is down after first attack, move into Blue Raven's space and Overextending Feint Deception: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (18) + 33 = 51
If Pink is down after second attack, draw whip.

Pine pokes Pink a couple of times and he deflates like a burst balloon!

First two attacks hit and just finished him off. The 20 holy weakness was critical.

With just the two Ravens left, Blue flies forward a little way and casts a spell at Slick. As she does so the waiting starknife slices downwards cutting into her arm.

It is very obviously Maze. Billy is up, Slick is gone un;ess someone does something to counter it.

[On Blue Raven's turn...]
Well aware of what the Maze spell can do, Billy is not about to let his favorite bodyguard get sent away. He quickly chants,
♫"You tried your best to Maze. But Slick has plans -- he stays!"♫
Billy uses his reaction to cast Nullify -- and loses 1d8 hp per spell rank.

[On Billy's turn...]
With Slick safe for now, Billy tries to hamper Red Raven. From across the room, he sings,
♫"Crimson-wearing raven: You cannot keep those cards.
You find yourself quite craven. Of shadows and of bards."
♫
Cast Unspeakable Shadow at Red Raven. (Range: 120')
Will Save: DC 45.

Unspeakable Shadow details:
Unspeakable Shadow
Description: You alter a creature's shadow, transforming it into a terrifying monster out to devour the creature. The creature must attempt a Will save.
A creature that has the frightened condition from unspeakable shadow must spend at least one of its actions each turn to either attack its shadow (making a Strike ineffectually) or flee from its shadow (using one action to move away as though it had the fleeing condition).

Critical Success: The target is unaffected.
Success: The target is frightened 2.
Failure: The target is frightened 3. It can't reduce its frightened value below 1 for 1 minute.
Critical Failure: The target is so afraid, it might instantly die. It must succeed at a Fortitude save or die; this saving throw has the incapacitation trait. If it succeeds at its save, the target is frightened 4 and can't reduce its frightened value below 1 for 1 minute.

Billy then moves out of the clump of heroes, while staying within range of both Ravens for his anthem to remain inspirational.

Billy shudders as the magic rips through him. Raven simply shrugs at Billy and waves a hand dismissively as his magic rolls over her.

Reginald squeals and fights imaginary enemies ineffectively in Sigourney's square. Both Sigourney and Calthaxitakin sigh in resignation. It seems like Reginald is a spent force in this battle. Sigourney Effortlessly Concentrates on the spell keeping her Patron in this battlefield.

For what is probably the last time in this campaign, Sigourney Casts Air Walk on Slick.

"You know what to do." The Witch remarks to Slick with a knowing grin.

With but a thought, Sigourney gives Pine a mental message this time.

"Hello Pine, let's take out Red Raven as quickly as possible. Here! Let me give you a little boost." The Rogue finds himself the receipient of an Amped Message.
