GM_NotAngryButUpset |

@Step: Skelly 4 was restrained by Ustemir and thus off guard. Unless I missed something, Skelly 5 was not off guard.
@Ascaede: Exploit Vulnerability and Esoteric Warden as applied to Skelly 4.

Ascaede Voheque |

@GM NABU - does being knocked unconscious mean you drop what you are holding in your hands? If so, how many Actions does it take to grab/retrieve/wield both blade and shield?
If becoming Prone is merely an abstraction, and once healed Ascaede is magically ready and raring to go, sword and shield in hand, and Skelly 4 is adjacent to her…
◆ Stand ◆ Strike ◆ Raise Shield
Shaking her head groggily, the beleaguered acolyte struggles to her feet, restored by Waedin and Sebastien’s magical ministrations, and empowered by the halfling’s support. She cuts back at the skeleton, hoping to end the threat standing before her…

[Note if the Skelly gets a Reactive Strike for the Stand (Move Action) Ascaede has not raised shield yet but does get +2 AC vs. Skelly 4 due to Critical Success on Esoteric Lore for Esoteric Warden]

GM_NotAngryButUpset |

pretty sure my stance has always been that shields are usually strapped to your arm and aren’t typically dropped when unconscious. Weapons however… will require an action to pick up.
Ascaede grabs her sword, stands, and swings. Even with the skeleton off guard, her swing is wide. Miss!

Victory! Combat over!
Aftermath:
Sebastien (8dmg)
Waedin (12dmg)
Ascaede (10dmg, wounded 1)
As the last of the bones clatter to the floor, the prostrated figure in the rear of the room ceases his utterances and lifts his head. "My prayers have been answered..." he gasps as he struggles to his feet, peering through the darkness to those who have come to his rescue. Edgrin pushes forth and embraces the figure, "Barlus! I was afraid I'd never see you again!"
"Yes, well met Edgrin. Who are these folk with you? Are you here to end the kobold menace?"
Congrats! You've found the Missing Hunter Barlus Chorton. You'll need to report back to Lady Baranova to complete the quest.

Waedin Craftsdotter |

Waedin winces as she tries to shake off the various wounds she's received. Nah, we're kinda here to rescue you I think... tell me have any of you seen a wizard around here?

GM_NotAngryButUpset |

Barlus and Edgrin exchange a look and a shrug. "No wizards here, ma'am," answers Barlus, "Unless you're speaking of the Kobold King himself. He's been sacrificing people to empower his crown with their blood! But I don't think they've got the ritual down just yet, it seems to me all the people they've killed so far has been just a warm up, practice till they get it right. All that was left was me, Edgrin here, and the butcher from town, Colbrin. We escaped, but I'm afraid they captured Colbrin again."
"Don't worry Barlus," reassures Edgrin, "These folks are true heroes! They took out Ygrik and his goons, and a whole squad of kobolds guarding the elevator! And you see what they did to these skeletons!"
"Well, I'd sure like to get the heck outta here," implores Barlus, "If you folk can get us back to town safely, I promise I'll repay you, I'll even throw in my father's heirloom longbow. It should help you take down this mad tyrant if that's what you're after, or else more and more people are bound to go missing."

Ustemir |

Ustemir massages his knuckles a bit. Striking bare bones can be painful like that. "I need to wrap these." he mumbles to himself as he looks at the praying man.
"Balrus, you old dog. Your dear old mother is worried sick." he cracks a smile. "Next time, at least tell her where you're off to."
He looks around the room once more. "How many people were here with you again? Any other prisoners we should look for? If there's nobody else, we should head back to civilisation and make sure they're safe." Ustemir pauses and looks at the party curiously. "And then come back?"

GM_NotAngryButUpset |

"Ah, Ustemir! Well met again old friend! I should have guessed you'd be among my saviors."
"I don't recall the name Vazenko. The only other prisoner left that I know of is Colbrin, and if you want to find him, you'll have to go down into their tunnels below."
Both Barlus and Edgrin start to look uneasy, "Is there someplace safe we can wait?"
So just to recap:
-You've found and killed the Darkmoon Beast. Waedin has it's severed head in her satchel, and it's starting to stink. You need to return it to Boss Teedum as proof to get your reward.
-You've found the Ironbloom Mushrooms needed to cure the town of the strange wasting disease. They need to be returned to Laurel Gebre.
-You've found the remains of Druingar Glintaxe and his journals. You'll want to inform Magyola in Darkwater Crossing.
-And now you've found Barlus, along with Edgrin, who claim the kobolds have one more captive. You'll want to return them safely to Hearth and inform Lady Baranova.
Sounds like the plan is to look for Colbrin before heading back to town?

Ascaede Voheque |

Ascaede attempts to provide first aid to herself and then her injured companions…she can’t seem to get her own tourniquet right and mostly shifts blood around on Waedin. But perhaps Sebastien’s supportive nature rubs off on the hopeful medic, and Ascaede does a pretty good job healing the halfling…

Waedin Craftsdotter |

I vote push on, and go through the secret door
I think the safest place is trailin' behind us honestly. Waedin says to Barlus and Edgrin. I think we try and clear our this level, and then head back to town.

Ustemir |

"It's a good plan. Maybe we'll find more survivors before leaving for town." Ustemir nods and stands near the entrance to the room, just in case some uninvited guests decide to show up.

Sébastien of The City of a Hund |

Thankful for an Alchemist being in the group, the Bard prepares to follow along. He recast Light on his shield, as his blue eyes roam the way forward....

GM_NotAngryButUpset |

Waedin leads the way through the secret passage, which leads into a hallway that immediately turns toward the south. Following it you come to an intersection with a set of double doors leading west. The hall continues south.
The doors to the west seem to be locked from the inside. Three successful DC 20 Thievery checks to unlock the doors.

From the dust and dirt accumulated on the floors, it appears this hallway has not been used in a very long time.

That would be a tough nut to crack for me, although I do have some Training. I could Aid someone better at it though?
The Halfling does agree with Waedin and prepares to continue...

"Alright..." Ustemir walks over and pulls out his tools. "I mean I know -a little-."
He knees down to the door and starts fidgeting. Tongue out and everything.

Waedin Craftsdotter |

Yeah sure, 10 minutes to fix up the last little bit might be wise.
Maybe while Ustemir works on the door Stepnick can brew more elxirs so Waedin can get to full?

GM_NotAngryButUpset |

Ustemir sets to picking the locks while Stepnik brews up a couple more healing droughts.
So, picking locks is basically a race to see if you can get X amount of successes before suffering a Crit Failure.
Ustemir takes his time, and feels he is making good progress when his lockpick gets caught in a tumbler and snaps. Success on 2nd and 5th attempts. Crit fail on the 7th attempt. Ustemir's Thieves Tools are broken. Final Success on 9th attempt.
However, perhaps he borrows Sebastien's set of Thieve's Tools and with a couple more tries, manages to get the door open.
Inside is what appears to be the living quarters of an important dwarf, though now covered in dust and cobwebs. In the far corner is a large stone bed. In the northeastern corner sits a broad desk covered in various objects. In the southeastern corner, an anvil looks out of place with a massive maul attached to it by a crude mechanical arm in the image of a dwarven warrior.
Sprawled out atop the anvil is a dwarven skeleton, it's skull crushed to pieces.
As you take in the room, one of the objects sitting on the desk begins to stir. It looks like a tiny clay figurine with wings, but it slowly opens its single blue eye and a mouth full of sharp teeth. With a little roar it springs off the desk to attack!
