FYI there's different friar orders from saints in the material.
Order of St. Jorrael
(God friend) beggars
(poor friars)
ie like Franciscans.
Order of St. Faxis
(The Penitent)
witch hunters
(Black frairs)
ie like Dominicans
Friars
Wandering ascetics who have vowed to leave the austere
life of the cloister and take to a homeless existence on the
road. Friars are tasked with bringing the good word of the
One True God to the poor, downtrodden, and disease-ridden
in borderlands at the edge of the civilized world (such
as Dolmenwood). Friars maintain only a loose affiliation
with the Church proper, being granted the fiat to carry out
God’s will as they see fit, without recourse to the ecclesiastical
hierarchy. A large number of saints lived as friars.

I was wondering if it would be ok if I created a new order using one of the existing saints.
It would be known as the Clavists, or the Mendicant Order of Saint Keye the Chronicler. They are a small (minor) order who tracks down lost or missing historical information or artifacts. They are history buffs and relic retrievers for the church.

Yeah sure! I just posted 2 that I "created" based on existing Catholic orders.

I think I have a minor hook.

Lucky me I am a wood grue subscriber for Dolemwood and get all the cool updates. I was just looking over the religion section trying to decide which group I might want to join!!! Thanks for the recap. Will try to get it all done today and a post in on the game page.
Awesome, I'm looking forward to the Kickstarter. I was a subscriber for a while but just let the Pateron lapse.

Dm - I want to broach something with you before moving forward. I would like to play Hex “against type” in that he would be an outcast from longhorn society.
He will not have the regular anathema of treating with Drunes (though they may still expect him to hate them and act accordingly).
He will have his longhorns, but runs the risk of having them removed by longhorn law/society if dremed sufficiently criminal or by an overzealous official.
He will never acquire his house plate armor, though I was thinking at 3rd level he might choose other armor, even plate though that might cause more societal issues.
He has no apathy toward bows nor preference for lance and sword.
Other than that he would be a biological longhorn, though perhaps at some stage, shorn of head and thus lose his butt attack.
I was thinking of calling longhorn pariahs “scurs” as this is a term for horn deformation in goats. Just why he is a scur would be developed and divulged over time.
What do you think?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I was looking around for an image of the holy symbol of the One True God, but could not locate one. Therefore, I propose the following...
the key at the bottom is specific to the Clavists, or the Mendicant Order of Saint Keye the Chronicler. I would propose that all the sects use the main symbol and then have their group's specific emblem placed somewhere within the cross.

Eh, never mind. I’m going to bow out of this game.

Lachlann |

That leaves us with a classic party of 4:
Lachlann: human bard
Brother Theodor: human friar
Raff: human thief
Medraut: human mage
I think I should rebuild into a more martial class.
Thoughts?

Lachlann |

I have some time on my hands today so I will rebuild as a Dolmenwood Knight of House Harrowmore
1d8: 1d8 ⇒ 7
1d8: 1d8 ⇒ 8
If we would rather keep the bard that’s fine too.

Works for me. Thanks.

I’m posting this in all my games. We are expecting a major snow storm tomorrow. While I don’t expect to lose power or internet service it is always a possibility. If I don’t post tomorrow apologies in advance.
