I'm cool with just rolling for those potions, since three of us seem to have interest in them. That's how I've seen a lot of loot-offs done.
The druidic gnome does not obtain or even show interest in wearing a holy symbol.

Vosk Lazav |

Works for me!
Roll off for Uber Epic Lootz: 1d20 ⇒ 12 I think a potion goes to me then regardless of the third roll?
Seeing Trajan getting a little cozy, he chuckles. "I'll try to keep everyone in the radius at the opening of each door. No promises once things get dicey though," he says.
"Bottoms up, eh?" he says to the recipient of the other potion before chugging it down.
________
I think that North door is our destination! OPENOPENOPEN :D

![]() |

Trajan wrote:they had a surplus here for a reason. To be completely clear, this is not a case of a collection of holy symbols on necklaces waiting to be donned. Rather, there are so many small icons, talismans and so on strewn around the workshop benches that obtaining a useable holy symbol from amongst them is quick and easy.
So, Vosk and Radiarch please decide amongst yourselves who takes and/or uses the second Resist Fire potion. And where next, everyone?
As Vosk wrote in his last post the northern door was our next destination. With Trajan's Perception check, it's the safest door he's ever checked!

![]() |

No offense but it needs to go to Vosk. He asked for it first and he should get it since he's the only wizard, and best Knowledge skilled PC, the party has. Radiarch can lay on hands if he gets hit with fire damage like Trajan can.
None taken and no roll needed. I just missed Vosk's mentioning taking it. My bad. Go for it, Vosk :)

![]() |

I'll check that door...just in case... Doran says as he examines the door.

which slide is it?
Slide #2; the GM has the slides set so that the top map is the current one.

GM supervillan |

Dexter and Vosk drink potions.
Doran checks out the northern door, and deems it safe. The door opens to reveal a barrack room. Five cots line the western wall. A dusty table, counters, and a hearth share the east side of the room. There are no other exits.
No new slide for the barracks, but I will of course make one should it prove necessary.

![]() |

Nothing to see here...maybe. Can someone check for magic auras? Might be something hidden... the warrior says as he checks for anything of note left behind.
Roll that Perception check! :)

Nothing to see here...maybe. Can someone check for magic auras? Might be something hidden... the warrior says as he checks for anything of note left behind.
"I can check for the presence of evil and chaos but I don't think I'll find anything. This reminds me of my quarters in the Citadel."
Trajan will use the Paladin and Hellknight stares to see if anything is evil or chaotic, besides Doran on the chaos-meter.

Vosk Lazav |

Vosk nods in affirmation and scans the room for magical auras. A faint, blue mustache now adorns his upper lip.

Hidden under one of the cot mattresses, Doran finds a small journal. Skimming it, it looks like the notebook of an alchemist or sage: filled with indecipherable calculations and diagrams. But the last page is written in Common:
Everything! I’ve tried everything, and still my creation defies me! I would pull all the sacred prisms from their sockets to deactivate the defences if I could, but even now those same defences I insisted on creating prevent me from reaching the only things that could allow me to stop the defences, which would allow me to reach them were it not for the defences, which keep me from reaching them!
Am I even making sense anymore?
I have resolved to charge the remaining prisms. Perhaps their energy will enable me to override the system. Ideally I could remove the prisms and actually open all of the doors properly.

"So the prisms are what keep the defenses active. And as we remove each one...we are making the tower vulnerable to attack. Unsettling news. More doors to open it seems so more defenses to bypass? Excellent eye finding this journal Doran. Which room to next?"

Poor fellow might have gone mad... Doran says, trying to makes heads or tails of the writings.
Well, we have some insight at least... he says before moving to the next door.

Looks like Doran's gone to the south.
Doran checks the southern doors. Apart from a dusting of soot around the edges, he finds nothing out of place. The doors open safely.
A large forge flanked by bellows dominates the east wall, though they and the nearby anvil are caked in soot. Half-full weapon racks hold an assortment of daggers, spears, and swords, and low piles of arrowheads, coal, and metal ingots line the southwest wall.
Again, no new map slide - I'll make one if it's needed.
Vosk detects a couple of magical auras, which lead you to discover three enchanted crossbow bolts and four sling bullets.

![]() |

"Oh... a forge. Wonder if any of the weapons are still good."
Moves over to examine the weapons.

![]() |

If this wasn't my profession, I think I would have been a smith...there's a dwarven smith back home...made my first blade. Nice fellow...I hung out at his forge a few times when i was younger...Bordurn is his name... Doran says as he wanders about checking the racks of weapons. He grabs a whetstone and refines the edges on his blades as he walks.

"Very true and it appears they weren't relying on just the magical defenses of the tower but forging weapons in case they failed. Although they should be made from cold iron to destroy those abominations of nature and everything holy."

GM supervillan |

No special materials are mentioned.
Surprisingly, none of the remaining weapons are of cold iron. However, it's widely known amongst adventurers and their associates that forging cold iron is more difficult than steel. Perhaps the smith here intended to use enchanted arms to overcome any demonic invaders.
Hskoro judges the mundane weapons to be of ordinary quality.
Anyone who wishes may take a dagger, spear, longsword, bastard sword or greatsword.

Trajan carefully selects a greatsword, checks it for balance and its cutting edge, and then puts it into Vosk's hands. With a chuckle he says, "There, now you fit in with the fighters."

![]() |

Radiarch finds confidence in his own armnament, readying himself for any comfrontation they may face in the rooms to follow while ensuring the others feel ready.

Can't hurt to have a back up weapon... Doran says with a shrug as he picks up a dagger.
Invested in some cold wrought blades as soon as i could afford it...my cousin Mykel said it was a wise investment...

Vosk Lazav |

Sorry y'all, forgot to post yesterday!
Vosk takes the greatsword in his hands. His bulky frame would likely take the weight well, but alas, he has spent many years emptying taverns of their stocks, not bucking bales of hay. He does his best to raise the weapon above his head. "Have at thee! Haha! Is that all it takes to be one of you? Now I can do it all!"
Between chuckles to himself, he points out the enchanted munitions. "If anyone has a crossbow or pistol, these will certainly serve them well!" Unless relieved of his new sword, he lets the blade rest on his shoulder and keeps a hand on the grip.

”Onward and upward! Probably. This is a tower after all.”

![]() |

"Indeed, Vosk. I would be happy to show you a few tips when this mission is complete," Radiarch pipes in as he taps the hilt of his own greatsword. He then draws an arrow from his quiver and prepares to take aim for the door at the first sign of trouble.

GM supervillan |

Strictly speaking, Vosk, you rolled Spellcraft in the barrack room where there were no auras. No harm done ;)
Since there are magic sling bullets, Dexter, you may take a mundane sling.
Doran checks out the eastern door. Finding nothing to arouse his suspicion, he opens it to reveal...
another door.
Naturally he checks this one too, and then opens it.
A long coat rack laden with baggy leather suits and a wooden wardrobe comprise the only furnishings in this room. A desiccated body lies slumped against the north wall, cradling a glowing prism in its limp arms. A second, empty prism lies at the body’s side. An iron door leads to the north.
Suddenly, bubbling up out of the floor comes a cloud of shadow in the vague form of a man, with a ghostly skull that babbles and cackles madly...
This creature is an Allip, an incorporeal undead - the remains of an unfortunate soul who fell to madness and despair, yet could not let go of his life's work. Ghalcor. He is much more powerful than a typical Allip.
