GM supervillan's 5-13 Weapon in the Rift [High Tier, Gameday] (Inactive)

Maps and slides

This recruitment thread is for a Gameday pbp Convention run of 5-13 Weapon in the Rift.

Gameplay will not commence until 11 September 2022.

Please post the usual details of the character you wish to play. I will confirm places once a coherent, in-tier party emerges. The scenario is tier 5-9, and I prefer to have a party within one subtier (so effectively either 5-7 or 7-9).

{Usual details being: Player name, Character name, Character PFS number, Faction, Day job roll (if any), and XP track}

Hi :)

I have a level 7 Wizard I'd like to play.

Player name: Gummy Bear
Character name: Vosk Lazav ("Kiango" for reporting)
Character PFS number: 74244 - 15
Faction: Sovereign Court
Day job: Vosk forgoes a day job roll in favor of the Rising Star Boon (9-08), where he rolls Nobility vs a scaling DC (15 + 1/2 lvl) to earn progress towards becoming a Viscount (currently he is a Baronet). If he beats it by 10 or more, he gets two boxes worth of progress.
Nobility (DC 18): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
XP track: Normal

Vosk's shtick is enchantments and when that doesn't work, he buffs the party. He brings some knowledge, spellcraft, and linguistic skills. His ideal situation is to bypass combat entirely with diplomacy/bluff though.

Silver Crusade

I'd definitely be interested in playing this on Marik (he's a level 7 multiclass front-line type of character).

Player Name: Mike
Character Name: Marik "The Ferret"
PFS Number: 317595-5
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day job roll:Diplomacy: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (10) + 22 = 32
XP Track: Normal

Marik's thing is making himself hard to hit, protecting the rest of the party (e.g. with Bodyguard), being diplomatic and being helpful (he's a helpful halfling).

Liberty's Edge

Hi sv, submitting Myth for consideration; he last played during your Ghenett Manor session…

Player Name: Otha
Character Name: Mythryndyr
PFS Number: 239913-2
Character Class/Level: 7th (Sniper 5/ Urban Ranger 2)
Faction: Liberty’s Edge
Progression: Normal

Half-Elf scout/ranged support fighter/rogue; can fight closer in if given a flank. Nothing real quirky though…

Dark Archive

Hey, 8th level psychic for consideration.

Player name: Gerald
Character name: Ashwell
Character PFS number: 12445-19
Faction: Dark archive
Day job: Profession Librarian 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
XP track: Normal

Ash enjoys blowing up bad guys’ minds with Mind Thrust. He’s got quite a few knowledge skills and can help with Freedom of Movement and a few other utility type spells. But he mainly crushes minds.

Liberty's Edge

A 6th level Nagari Fighter.

Player Name: Banesama
Character Name: Hskoro Tailfeather
PFS # 138079-5
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Day Job: Profession Soldier 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
XP Track: Normal

Hskoro is willing to run in a higher Tier if it comes to it. Won't be his first time.

Grand Lodge

If the tier ends up Low, I would be happy to bring this guy (level 5 Sorcerer).

Pete H.
John Carlos
123584-4
Grand Lodge
Perform: Flute + MW Instrument: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 = 21
Standard XP

If it trends High, no worries and “good luck storming the castle!”

Silver Crusade

Player name Zin Z'arin (Rob Riemersma)
Character name Mun of Ashava
Character PFS number 192785-1
Faction Silver Crusade
Day job roll Perform (dance): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
XP track normal

Mun is a melee-companion-based oracle with an arcane casting edge. He's had a rough time of late; he's made some choices that don't cast him in a great light, somehow. He could use a mission where he's obviously on the side of the good guys to set his path straight.

Dark Archive

If this goes high, I have a ninth level arcanist.
Keith (phaeton_nz)
Derpitwi (Daphne) Lunamoon
124312-11
Dark Archive
Craft Baking: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 Muffin?
Normal Track
Female Halfling
Faerie Dragon Familier (Riddlywipple)

Grand Lodge

i have a options available in each tier...

Silver Crusade

I would love to join. :-)

Player: noral
Character: Xiao junior Katsu
Class: Bard 5 / Oracle 1
Faction: Silver Crusade
PFS: 314670-16
Day job: perform oratory: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36
Mode: Standard

Alrighty, given the level of interest - I've had a couple of pm's in addition - I'm going to run two tables, one in each subtier.

Recruitment is now closed. There'll be a total of 12 players. I'll post later with the table allocations. Everyone who's applied here will have a seat, the additions are Shadow Dragon and Yours is Mined (subject to each of them confirming, of course).

Grand Lodge

i'll declare for low tier then...

Dark Archive

So nice of you, GM! Thanks a ton!

Silver Crusade

Wow! Thanks for everything!!

I would also play high tier with my level 6 character.

Silver Crusade

So it looks like 5 PCs for the lower tier?
Fighter 6
Paladin 5/Hellknight 1
Bard 5/Oracle 1
Sorcerer 5
Grimdog: Cleric 5
Anyone know of a player with a Rogue in this level range?

Silver Crusade

I assume the level 7s want to play low low tier?

In case two of the level 7s want to play low tier than I’d rather like to join the high tier table.

Silver Crusade

I'm happy to go either tier, whatever works best for everyone.

I have a tentative table split. Grimdog, tables will be better balanced if you can join the high tier, although if Gummy Bear or Otha want to play up that would work. I wouldn't recommend adding a Wizard into the high tier party that already has an arcanist and a psychic though.

I'm suggesting the following:

Low tier
Gummy bear's wizard 7
Otha's archer 7
Banesama's fighter 6
Top's sorcerer 5
Noral's bard/oracle 6
Shadow Dragon's paladin/hellknight 6

High tier
Gerald's psychic 8
Zin's oracle 8 plus bear
Phaeton's arcanist 9 plus riddywhipple
Yim's bard 8
Mike R's mouser 7
Grimdog

How's that look?

I don't know what the 7s want to do. What I'm seeing in this thread so far besides the lower-tier options are:

1 9th level
2 8th levels
3 7th levels
I assumed they would be the higher-tier table.

As I expressed to GM SV in a PM when I read the blurb for the module the terms "complex fail-safes" and "indiscriminate safeguards" just scream the need for a PC that can detect/disable traps that are probably magical in nature.

Like pretty much all pfs scenarios, having a "trapfinder" can be helpful but isn't essential.

Yours is Mined has a Bard 8 that he'd like to bring, so it makes sense to me to have one Bard on each table.

I get that but I don't know how many of those scenarios basically scream it at the players. :)

1 bard per table is a good idea; when you have 2 or more bards at a table it turns into an episode of 'Amercia's Got Talent'...
;)

Low Tier works for me! Vosk can stomach playing second fiddle if he was playing high tier, but third fiddle?! :P

Grand Lodge

Thanks for running two tables, that is awesome we have a decent split of high and low tier.

I also have a level 5 druid with boar companion I could easily and happily bring, since I don't think John will need to do any face-work other than aid another with the low tier group. But we can talk about that later for sure.

Looks good to me.

Slight reshuffle, as Grimdog has kindly given up his spot for another player looking for this specific scenario. I think our newcomer will join the low tier table with a paladin, and Otha's archer will go to the high tier table.

Silver Crusade

Looks good thanks!!

Dark Archive

Thanks for doing heavy lifting for the group, GM!

Silver Crusade

Looks good to me; thanks for running, GM!

Sorry peeps and GM supervillan,

I’m going to withdraw from this game.

Very jealous that you all get to PbP with GM SV. He really is that good.

Nothing personality related of course, just RL getting in the way.

On a positive note, perhaps that means Grimdog can have the spot back that he generously gave up for Radiarch?

Grand Lodge

if you'll have me i'm in

Silver Crusade

Level 5 divine archer pali. Looks like I'll be lowbie either table if you can still fit me in.
Player Name: Ryan
Character name: Radiarch Eklesya
Character PFS number: 14196 - 4
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day job: Profession: Tower Guard +7
XP track: Normal

No worries Yim!

Welcome back Grimdog :)

I'll get a second gameplay thread sorted so you can all dot in to the campaign.

Grand Lodge

Level 5 Sarenite cleric...healbot...Shadow dragon's fave option...
Player Name: Paul McCrory/grimdog73
Character name: Goran Baldaros
Character PFS number: 125048-5
Faction: Grand lodge
Day job: Profession: none
XP track: Normal

My reaction...

Grand Lodge

well, i have selective channeling...i can always *not* select you...

Okay, revised table split is as follows:

Low tier
Gummy bear's wizard 7
Banesama's fighter 6
Top's sorcerer 5
Shadow Dragon's paladin/hellknight 6
Grimdog's cleric 5
Ryan's paladin 5

Players for Low Tier please hop on over to the new Gameplay thread and dot in. I've made a new discussion thread over there too.

High tier
Gerald's psychic 8
Zin's oracle 8 plus bear
Phaeton's arcanist 9 plus riddywhipple
Mike R's mouser 7
Otha's archer 7
Noral's bard/oracle 6

This table has an APL of 7.5, which will round up and put you in subtier 8-9. If Noral and Gummy Bear want to switch that's fine, if you want to bring other characters that's fine too. We have plenty of time before we start.

High tier will use the gameplay thread here (I've renamed the campaign accordingly).

Silver Crusade

Looks good. Thanks for getting it all sorted out!

GM supervillan wrote:

Presumably that would be either straight subtier 8-9 or 8-9 with 4 player adjustment as the APL is exactly on the .5 so the party could choose which way to round the .5?

Hi Malik, I meant to answer your question sooner, but yes you are correct. The high tier party will be able to opt for the four-player adjustment as things stand.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry, but maybe not for the 4-player adjustment…looks like I overlooked a credit, think Myth is 8th level…double-checking…
