Panes of frosted glass rise between the arms of thick, white aspen boughs. Across the room, a wooden figure of the goddess Iomedae that looks grown rather than carved raises her blade over a simple, candlelit altar. The Angel Knight stands beside the image of her goddess and her loyal Hound looms protectively before her. The Archon is still wounded from Guillaume's smite attack, but he does appear partially recovered.

The Shrike:
S: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
G: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

As you move unseen into the room, something strikes you as odd about the Angel Knight's posture. She seems poised for something, though not to draw her sword. Then you think back to the collapsing bridge trick and turn your keen eyes to the floor. The edge of a trap door lies inches from your feet here and Guillaume, mere seconds behind you, looks about to charge right over the top of it!

Male Tiefling Bloodrager 4 (Primalist, Steelblood)

I mixed up your earlier generosity re: tiefling smite; you let it bypass DR, not keep going past the first hit. Mea culpa.

Yeah, brainfart on how you deliver shocking grasp. I'm too used to playing a Magus. In that case, I don't suppose Fellzir's got another one of those Align Weapons, does he?

Could I disable the trap without breaking the invisibility?

In case I could:

Noticing the trap next to his feet, The Shrike tries to find the mechanism for the trap, and prevent it from triggering.
Disable device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Skull & Shackles Map Female Human Pathfinder Society GM Hell's Vengeance Map

The Shrike:
You could try, had you not already acted this round. Though disabling even the simplest device takes at least 1 full round. Speaking is a free action and also will not break Invisibility, though it will announce your presence and make it easier to pinpoint your general location. So you could warn G to stop him charging onto it, but you could also keep quiet and see what happens. You are eeevil, after all. XD
Just to be clear, you are not currently standing on the trap door. Also when I put text in a named spoiler, you should respond the same way, since the others shouldn't yet know the trap is there unless you tell them IN character. =P

Do I have any movement left? I could go back and whisper the warning. If no movement left, I’ll say the warning out loud (since I kinda did that already outside the spoilers : P)

The Shrike calls out to the charging tiefling, as softly as he can manage, "Hold it, G-man. Trap!" The Hound Archon growls again, snuffling at the air in The Shrike's general direction. The vigilante feels the creature's menacing aura take effect on him again, though Guillaume does not.

Hound Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Guillaume has spent one move action and still has a potential standard action unspent. Since The Shrike cannot exactly point out the area that is trapped, I won't mark it out on the map until a visible character spots it with a DC 20 Perception check. The Shrike is menaced. He takes –2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura.

Round 1
-------------------
The Shrike (Invisible, Menaced) - drank potion of invisibility and moved, noticed trap and warned G
Guillaume (-4) - began charge and stopped short due to trap warning
Hound - casts on the Angel Knight
Angel Knight - fires crossbow vs G for 4 Piercing Damage
Fellzir
Aurelius

Cimri and Rhysack

The Hound Archon narrows his eyes as he watches the area where The Shrike stands unseen very carefully, still sniffing every so often. He reaches back toward the Angel knight and she presents her arm for him to grasp and he murmurs in Celestial, casting something on his charge.

The Knight raises an already loaded crossbow and fires at the only target that has presented itself, Guillaume. The bolt strikes him with a glancing blow. Guillaume takes 4 Piercing damage.

Fellzir and Aurelius are up! Since the trap is out of the bag, you can roll your own perception check upon entering the room and if you beat DC 20, you will not end up standing on top of it, even if you place your token somewhere that you should be. I will still roll passive checks for anyone who moves into the room and doesn't post one.

Fellzir moves up to stab Guillaume in the back with the wand of shield of faith and looks around for the trap.

"I see nothing."

Another charge used off of the wand...

Female Human Rogue Hell's Vengeance Combat Map

Cimri Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Rhysack casts a ward on Cimri. The rogue jogs up to Guillaume, but quickly takes a sharp turn to avoid the trap she spots as plain as day. "I see it, this whole section is rigged to drop." She motions with her hand, sketching out the border of the trap. As she draws closer to the Hound Archon, it's aura takes effect on her again as well and she stops in her tracks.

Rhysack moves up behind Fellzir.

I'm going to hold my standard and hope the Angel Knight approaches, attacking her as soon as she comes in reach of my bardiche. Here's the roll, so I don't have to make it later.

AK Will Save: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 = 16
It is a very near thing, as Aurelius attempts to command the Angel Knight to walk across her own trap, her armor creaks as if she leans to do his bidding, but the extra protection provided to her by her loyal Hound holds her back from the tipping point. She drops the spent crossbow and draws her sword, pointing the tip at Aurelius. "No!" Her feminine voice is deep and resonate within the closed mask of her Angelic Helm. "You will come forth to face me and the judgement of mighty Iomedae!" She intones and casts a divine compulsion of her own on the Omdura.

Aurelius Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

The compulsion sets in and Aurelius feels he must approach her. Though he still has the pretense of mind to avoid the trap now that he knows of it's danger. The Hound growls with a canine grin and takes one step away to clear the path to his mistress makes ready to receive their guest's approach.

Aurelius Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
As he moves just that small amount closer, his aura of menace falls over Aurelius as well, and he is Menaced as well.

Aurelius:
On its turn, the target moves its speed toward you, avoiding any other dangers along its path (including any movement that would provoke attacks of opportunity). The target may do nothing but move on its turn. If the target ends its move adjacent to you, you can make an attack of opportunity against the target.
Menaced: He takes –2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura.

The Shrike feels certain that with his efforts toward stealth and the increase in potential targets, the Hound has lost track of his position.
Fellzir is up!

Cimri catches on to Fellzir's tactics and tries to sweep Aurelius' legs out from underneath him to further limit his mobility, but the Omdura's feet are far too firmly planted. Frustrated, she calls to the Witch still lingering outside the room. "Rhysack, get your @$$ in here and do something!"

Rhysack plods into the room reluctantly. The Angel Knight hisses through her teeth beneath the mask of her helm at the sight of him. "Traitorous filth!"

Rhysack hangs his head, "I'm sorry Lencia... They have Siova. I have to keep her safe."

"Fool! Agents of Thrune have no mercy, you've only delayed your demise until you are no longer useful to them. And earned the ire of Iomedae!"

He does not bother to argue, merely raises his hand to cast the same hex on the Hound Archon as before.

Aurelius seems to recognize that his friends are trying to help him, despite their seemingly aggressive maneuvers and makes no move against them. However he is beyond reason under the effect of the paladin's spell. Despite his good intentions, Aurelius is simply too strong to be held back by Fellzir so easily as he breaks the grapple almost effortlessly and strides along the perimeter of the trap to close the distance toward the Angel Knight. Fortunately, the effort spent in being grappled and breaking free has cost him some movement and he does not make it close enough to be threatened by the minions of Iomedae. Once he stops advancing, he seems to shake off the spell and regain control of himself again.

The Shrike knows the jig is up the moment he closes the distance on the Hound Archon and its glowing golden eyes fix on his position, the canine snout quivering in anticipation. His stab is deflected easily as the Vigilante’s form flashes back into full view.

Guillaume’s attack from the opposite side is similarly rebuffed.

Then the celestial outsider unleashes his full fury on The Shrike’s revealed form, slashing in quick succession with his greatsword and lunging in to bite as well.

Cimri gasps in alarm to see the "new guy" shoved unceremoniously through the open trap door. Fortunately his quick reflexes serve him well as he kicks off from the flat of the recessed platform and snaps the magical leaf in half that he pocketed earlier and disappears from view again.

"Wow! You sure play dirty for being a so-called Angel Knight." She derides, with a tone bordering on respect.

I don't want him to have to delay. Please forgive me Guillaume if this is not what you wanted. I serve at your mercy.

Guillaume, with reach, takes a 5' step to flank with Cimri, (always give the rogue flanking bonuses) and then rages to get the extra hp and strength. His bonus goes from a +7 to a +11 as he cuts loose on the so-called angel knight.
BAB 3, Strength 3, Rage 2 more, Flanking 2, MW weapon 1.

Death to the Angel Knight: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 301d10 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

(Un)holy crap, that's a 19-20 weapon. I'll be rolling to confirm that crit now.

Oh well

I appreciate the post, and the high roll. but your math's off a bit. should be as follows:

Attack: 1d20+3(BAB)+5(Rage-boosted STR)+1(Mwk)+1(Trait vs Iomedaeans)+2(Flank)-3(Power Attack) For a total of +9

Damage:1d10+7(Rage-boosted STRx1.5)+3(Power Attackx1.5)+1(Trait) for a total of +11

So, 28 to-hit, 20 damage.

Well I was close anyway. I saw the d10+10 above and just added 2 for Rage. :-)

Threatened by too many combatants to countenance risking herself after the punishing blow from Guillaume, the Angel Knight calls to her companion, ”Aericad, my sword, if you please?” The Hound huffs his assent and bends down to pick up the sword at her feet and places it in her hand.
(And possibly exposes himself to an attack from The Shrike, depending on his movement)

Then the Angel Knight faces off again with Aurelius, her strike clean and elegant as she slices into his shoulder.
Angel Knight longsword attack vs A: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 S Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Fellzir notices that his companions are flagging, particularly Aurelius.

Round 5
-------------------
Aurelius (3/25 hp, Menaced) - Bastard sword attack vs Angel Knight, misses
The Shrike (16/27 hp, Invisible, Menaced) - climbs up, moves
Guillaume (10/32 hp, SoF) - Bardiche attack vs AK, strikes for 21 damage
Hound (Hexed-AC) - picks up AK’s sword, Greatsword attack vs G, strikes for 11 damage
Angel Knight (-25) - Longsword attack vs A for 8 damage
Fellzir
Cimri (Warded, Menaced, SoF) and Rhysack

Fellzir is up!
I have been poorly tracking hp for this combat and realized I'd better do an audit. The accounting above should be correct but please feel free to double check me.

Yuck. I guess I'm going to have to Bluff...

"Little dog, what will happen to you when this spiteful traitor is captured and tried for treason or perhaps accidentally killed while resisting arrest? Will you be a laughing stock? Will they chain you to a tree and throw rocks at you? Because you could run away now and no one would ever know. Or you could bind her, collect the reward, and be both rich and a hero. You need not suffer here, far from your home."

Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

The lies are strong, but hopefully somewhat convincing.

Fellzir tries to get inside the hound's mind and make him falter or turn. He then channels, leaving out the hound and the angel knight, but fully letting the healing wash over Rhysack.
Selective Channel Positive Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Should I get an AoO against Aericad?

I initially thought so but after looking up the threat range of a reach weapon, I think not. Sorry! It would be different if you had a spiked gauntlet equipped though, so keep that in mind for future purchases.

Round 5

Aurelius (10/25 hp, Menaced) - Bastard sword attack vs Angel Knight, misses
The Shrike (23/27 hp, Invisible, Menaced) - climbs up, moves
Guillaume (23/38[32] hp, SoF) - 5-ft step, rages, Bardiche attack vs AK, strikes for 20 damage

Angel Knight (-32) - Takes Llongsword from Hound, Longsword attack vs A for 11 damage, LoH for 6hp
Fellzir - channels, healing 7 hp
Cimri (Warded, Menaced, SoF) and Rhysack - Kukri attack vs AK for 13 damage / Hexes Hound to debuff attacks

Cimri slashes at the Angel Knight, taking full advantage of the flanking position Guillaume has afforded her. She stabs deep and deftly twists her Kukri on the withdraw.

The Hound sneers, snarling his reply to Fellzir, "Foolish human! You understand nothing of Honor or Loyalty. I will protect my charge until her last breath and then I will carry her soul to Heaven, wrapped in a shroud of Glory for her Valorous service to the Goddess!"

Unfortunately, yes it does. I was alluding to a gauntlet strike when I mentioned that AK is in full plate, but when I looked more closely there is a distinct difference: Gauntlet as Weapon text
AoN wrote:
A strike with a gauntlet is otherwise considered an unarmed attack.

Which means it can't threaten and would actually provoke an AoO to punch with it lacking the Improved Unarmed Strike feat.

Meanwhile, the Spiked Gauntlet text states

AoN wrote:

I knew there was a reason I always add a spiked gauntlet on my PFS characters, I was just thinking it was because my PCs don't usually wear medium or better armor. I had forgotten that the spikes make all the difference.

Fortunately, Guillaume and Aurelius are up for their turn!

I don't think I ever noticed that before. Alas. I'll make sure and pick up some spiked gauntlets, or perhaps cestuses (cesti?), when next I get the chance.

Note, Aurelius can opt to not count as evil once per day, as an immidiate action, from his amoral mercenary trait, I would like to use this the next time I get hit, to maybe not get hit (since she doesnt get CHA to AB) and take a bit less damage. Also, I think we got the regen judgdement going?

Fellzir hisses (evilly?) at Guillaume, "No, don't shift! She needs the flanking!" He tries to say it in such a way that the AK doesn't hear, but there's only so much he can do. "Focus on the knight. The mutt can wait. He will be out of healing soon anyway."

In retort to the hound, "You think she's going to Heaven? Maybe after years of torture and imprisonment. If you want paradise, you had better finish her yourself."

I don't see anywhere that the Healing Invocation has been activated for this combat. Can you believe I haven't even been using her smite? Silly me, thanks for the reminder. XD
