Kalhoun fires the modified weapons at the pink whale.

Iseph and Kizilonoz are still up!

Starship combat initiative is rough in PbP. Technically, though, it still needs to be done, although in this fight it doesn't make a ton of difference...
Botting Iseph Piloting Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Kizilonoz tunes the engines and diverts power as Iseph makes the ship slide along a forward-starboard vector, even as the two voraijas track your ship's movements and move to set up flanking positions!
T'Krunch finds the right tuning for the Force Projector to encode it with geospatial information, perfectly timed as Kalhoun hits his target - the pink voraija (although Voltaire's attempts at encouragement end up slightly more polemic and confusing this time around), depleting your Staboard shields to 0 in the process.
Both voraijas turn their electromagnetic vocalization attacks against your ship. The pink one doesn't target well enough, but the white one scores a critical hit to your Port side!
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8 plus EMP
Because you still have shields up in your port quarter, the critical damage does not go through to your ship's systems, nor does the voraija's EMP effect!
(Which is probably a very good thing considering that you haven't uploaded your data to UIE yet!)a
After a few seconds...the pink voraija turns around and exits the combat area.

STARSHIP COMBAT!
ROUND 2 - Starfield is updated!
Grimshaw - 0 Damage (Shields 22/40 - F: 10 P: 2 S: 0 A: 10)
Pink Voraija - 0 Damage (Noncombatant - Leaving Area)
White Voraija - 0 Damage
White Science: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
White Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
White Piloting: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
White Gunnery: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Your whole crew may now act!

"Well, there goes lunch," T'Krunch mutters to himself as one of the voraija begins to slip away into the depths of space.
"If you give us more power to the shields, I suspect I could rebalance them," T'Krunch suggests to Kizilonoz in engineering.

A few years ago, Paizo honored me with a campaign service coin. The cool thing you can do with this coin at a table is to give another player at the table a reroll with the coin-holder's GM Novas. There's no restriction on the coin-holder being a player or GM, either ;)
Voltaire, go ahead and re-roll that last check with an additional +5 bonus!

Success!

Botting Iseph
Remembering that your Force Projector needs to be encoded each time it's fired, Iseph makes a bold decision - they let go of the piloting controls to do the calculations themselves, while commanding the ship's computer to take the Glide minor action to control the ship!

Kizilonoz isn't able to bring up any more power to shields. Iseph deftly programs the Force Projector with Voltaire's encouragement as T'Krunch balances the shields in all quadrants.
Iseph's quick thinking means your vessel takes the initiative, and the remaining voraija quickly moves in, attempting to use its head as a ramming prow against you! Fortunately, your ship glides just far enough away that it is unable to target you this round!
Wheeling the weapon mount to face the rear, Kalhoun lines up and takes a perfect shot, causing the remaining voraija to disengage and follow its pod-mate, neither of them sporting any major injuries. You are now out of combat!
Well done! Look for another post shortly!

After the short exchange of fire, you are able to herd the two adolescent space-cetaceans back towards the planet Liavara. As you approach high-orbit, the voraijas fly away from you, leaving to frolic with their pod.
Soundtrack #8: Liavara - Stellaris (Ancient Relics) DLC: Our Heritage
After the encounter, you are hailed by the Xenowarden vessel Tide Swell who are in the area. They give you high praise for returning the wayward creatures without serious harm as they form up alongside you, sending you digital brochures for their Space Shepherd conservation program before departing to monitor tourist vessels once again.
You are able to easily return to the relay and transmit your data, which is bolstered by your recent encounter (and with no data loss because you took 0 critical damage) and safely return to Absalom Station a few days later.
Regardless of how your data collection and whale watching encounters panned out, J’scib is delighted to meet you back in the hangar. The host shirren sends a limited-edition holographic screen-saver of the Grimshaw to each of your personal comm unit as a memento, and informs you that someone from accounts payable will be in touch once all the flight data has been compiled.
The next day, you are each wired 200 credits for your time, along with vouchers for mk 1 mindlink circlet and a grappler in thanks for collecting an amount of data the engineering team can make use of.
With your safe return and expert handling of an experimental vessel, you have successfully completed...your Test Flight!

Thank you all for playing!
Because this is an author table, I can show you some extra things, that are on the slides/table - the two pieces of reference art I sent in with my text for the ship design.
Feel free to continue roleplaying as much as you'd like, and look for chronicle sheets in the next day or so!

"As prototypes go, this ship performed admirably. However, I have some notes that I would like to share about the weaponry, if you have a few hours to spare..."

T'Krunch reviews the brochures, hoping that the Xenowardens had perhaps included a take-out menu among them. He sighs with disappointment.
As the others disembark the Grimshaw, he turns to the others.
"So? Whose up for lunch?" he suggests. Then, after checking his available credsticks, he adds, "I'd gladly pay you for tomorrow for a something edible today."
Thanks, GM for a good run and great little adventure! Thanks all for a lot of fun. Looking forward to sharing a table with each of you in the future.
