@Leo Yes. Yes. Yes.

So did we all just get 1 or 2 Hero Points?

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

I gave 1 and The DM Mouse appeared, approved, and granted another!

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

Apologies, we went to see new Guardians yesterday. I will catch up today.

Just a heads up, In the morning I'm taking a friend to the nearest 'City' (Columbus Ohio) for an out-patient procedure. So I will not be posting at my regular time. I'll be up later tomorrow than normal and should be able to get any posting done before I head to bed.

So Ambrose did not take any actions the round that Leo was bitten. Is their readied actions in PF2?

I so, for future reference, Could a 'readied action' for Amborse be that if an enemy nears within 5 ft that he will flee a full move action?

Wishing you high-rolling fort saves!

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

Readied Actions take 2 Action and a Reaction to do. Ambrose only gets 2 Actions, but no Reactions.

Super busy with the end of the quarter! I should be more reliable once summer break starts.

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

I feel like my most dangerous dungeon campaign DM said that every May also....hehe!

I know that you are Itching for next month!

I will move us along tomorrow with the assumption that you rest and reax for an hour for 2 Treat Wounds each and 5hp from Heal spell. Everyone is back to full hp and no longer Wounded.

Let me know which direction, room, shenanigans that you want to do next?

Dorian 'Grey' wrote:
The Witch has actually heard of something referred to as The Dungeon of Graves. It is said to be the world's most dangerous Dungeon, populated by evil cultists, ravenous undead, and puzzles and Traps enough to make your Rogue retire.

That's just wrong. I'm sure anything Leo knew about someplace like that he's blocked out of his memory...

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

Your DM has further plans for you after this...hehe!

well crap, I don't do well in 'frog god's games' with classes and systems I'm familiar with...

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

We will be using PF2e rules. I will make any adjustments on my end.

RA, he wants to go to RA, where did we go wrong...

Just a warning every fey knows, don't go down the well...

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

The well on the beach is what gave me the idea.

yeah, see, I've never seen a well on a beach.

I had an uncle who had a house on the 'rock river' in Wisconsin that had an artesian well, but that's not the same at all.

I love me some Rappan Athuk but I am not sure I'm ready to go back there...

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

I could just run a home brew after this starting you guys at 3rd?

swash | .5lf lev. 3| 10/41 | ac 20 | per 7 | f 8 r 11 w 7| hero points 3

I hope it's not too much to ask for mercy re: Rappan Athuk. Three of my last six campaigns have been RA and I'm tired of it!

I'd happily do homebrew or a different module, even a different Frog God one.

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

I have a home brew in mind that would allow easy continuation of our current story.

You guys can have adventures while getting your Fish camp tidy, repaired and such.

Once we've cleared the fishing factory is 'Menace under Otari' officially finished?

After fifteen months of PF2 I feel like I've learned as much about the game as I want to. Having had a little experience with the system, I tried to play in another game as a champion, and wasn't feeling it at all. I'm not sure if it was the GM's style refereeing the game or my lack of understanding the rules, but it was really frustrating and I dropped out of the game.

I know the reason you ran this was so we could become familiar with the system and I appreciate that. Maybe, if I have the desire or need in the future, I'll get a copy of the books and try and read the rules as presented in writing. But I find 'Archives of Nethys' too hard to follow to try and glean the game system from it.

That said, when we are done with 'Menace under Otari' I'll be stepping away from the game.

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

I apologize for the slow pace of the game. I really appreciate everyone's participation. I do hope some knowledge of PF2e was gleaned?

Any comments, questions, tips on my running are appreciated and reliably taken, as you are all experienced DMs (except Airi, of course).

The Fish Camp is the adventure, so, yes, soon this will be completed.

Thank you everyone!

I think you've done a fine job with this. And I thought I had a pretty good grasp of the game.

The other GM kept saying that several (it seemed like almost every) skill roll was 'behind the screen' so he did all the rolls and told us what he found. Then he would let NPC's we were fighting hide behind cover, like your spiders did, But it was in wide open rooms with a few shrubs.

It was really frustrating. when I asked he was like 'Oh those are the rules' But without knowing the rules really well I couldn't argue. Some of it was stuff like not knowing I had to arm a shield, since Leo hasn't used one. But other stuff just seemed wacky.

So, If I'm going to continue in PF2 games, I need to make sure I know the rules for myself so I can discuss them from a place of understanding.

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

I feel like this tutorial failed you, my friend. My sincere apologies.

I may have read the CRB three times in preparation for DMing Book 1 of Age of Ashes. I volunteered to run the initial Book for my home group's first PF2e experience. I know myself. I wanted to make certain they knew that it is an entirely different system than PF1e.

The amount of times that I had to quotes rules for things that they assumed worked like PF1e may rival the amount of stackable bonuses allowed in PF1e...lol.

Some that I play regularly with still try to use Acrobatics to Jump...lol.

I love having you all as Player's! Thank you!

Been great playing with you! I really love the concept of Leo and hope he will find some spacetime to ride again.

@Dorian, thanks for running this! I can't say for sure if I'd use 1e or 2e rules if I was starting a new campaign from scratch, but I'd definitely consider 2e, especially for the three action turns. That's just more fun for everyone, even if the deadliness seems to be 1/3 higher, too.

NG Human Cleric of Iomedae 3 | HP 39/41 | AC 18 (20 w/ shield) | F+9/R+6/W+10 | Perc +8 | DC 18 | HP 1/3 |

I'm actually starting to prefer 2e

Is the game over?

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

No. You guys still have a few places to explore.

Agreed, Julril. I absolutely love PF2e.

@Parrot take a look at Abomination Vaults...hehe.

Dorian 'Grey' wrote:

No need to apologize, you didn't fail at all. I just think with PBP that it's hard to discuss and describe things like you would at a table. Also, my second experience was with a totally different GM with a different style, and again, PBP is a hard venue to be able to grasp nuanced differences.

Thanks Tannakin, I've had a great time playing Leo with you all, and honestly, what PF1 game would let me play a fairy riding a corgi? But I just don't plan on playing PF2 enough to continue learning the game once were done with the fish building here.

I figured I should point it out so if DG wanted to continue, he could find a player.

NG Human Cleric of Iomedae 3 | HP 39/41 | AC 18 (20 w/ shield) | F+9/R+6/W+10 | Perc +8 | DC 18 | HP 1/3 |

PbP is definitely subpar to being at the table. I miss the table so much. But, alas, this is the only available way to play for now.

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

My weekly Friday home group uses Roll20 and Discord for our SoT Campaign. My EC group used Foundry and Discord. Foundry is much better platform.

I am starting (as a player) with a new group tomorrow for a home brew PF2e by one of my Boatds DMs.

I enjoy PbP because of how easy it is to role play. Sometimes at a Table, it feels as if I am hogging the spotlight (me!) When I want to actually role play and not just roll play.

PFS was like that. Much more Crunch than Fluff.

NG Human Cleric of Iomedae 3 | HP 39/41 | AC 18 (20 w/ shield) | F+9/R+6/W+10 | Perc +8 | DC 18 | HP 1/3 |

Are we still limited to common options?

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

Run it by me if not Common or Uncommon. Flavor wins over mechanics, although both is better...hehe!

Anyone (Leo) may re-evaluate their character choice for any further shenanigans.

Leo, Ness and Iona can watch over the Fish Camp and the dragon and the rat while you are off adventuring.

NG Human Cleric of Iomedae 3 | HP 39/41 | AC 18 (20 w/ shield) | F+9/R+6/W+10 | Perc +8 | DC 18 | HP 1/3 |

OK well lvl 3 is pretty simple. Taking a skill point in Medicine which is now a +10. General Feat Robust Recovery because of that near tpk due to spider venom.

So what is the plan from here?

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

There is a Part 2 next.....

I'm all leveled up yo!

Will try to level up soon!

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

I only posted that in Game Play to give you a hint of what is next....

Any questions about leveling, game play, class options...?

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

Hello All!

I would like to thank everyone for adventuring with me in this tutorial game! I appreciate the allowance of latitude for my DMing style. I do hope everyone had fun.

There is more if the group would like to continue?

Or we could begin something new?

Or someone else wants to DM?

Or some want to do either and some neither?

Either way thanks!

Dorian 'Grey' wrote:

A third part of the adventure?

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

Yes. There is another part.

I did not know that, count me in if you want to do the next part. I thought we were done.

I guess I should get Leo leveled up, that will happen tomorrow.

NG Human Cleric of Iomedae 3 | HP 39/41 | AC 18 (20 w/ shield) | F+9/R+6/W+10 | Perc +8 | DC 18 | HP 1/3 |

Let’s continue on with the story

Male Teifling Welcome players! Roll20 Map

@Leo are you certain that you want to stick with a caster? This would be a good time to try something melee?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Nah, if I'm going to play PF2 with this group I may as well stick with Leo

Finally getting around to leveling! I am also going on vacation-ish to see my family on the east coast for a week+ in a couple days, might be slow to post.
