Simmons, can you try to either stop the jamming or boost our signal, when you have a moment?

Oren fiddles with her Comm Unit trying to change channel/frequency and tries again... S.O.S. Mayday. Mayday. Rudo!

The last word or rather name wasn't protocol, but if one word got through... it would be understood.

Engineering or Computers, whichever appropriate, both +6: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Not pulling Rudo in scene, just an indication of needing security.

"Yup, just one second," Arkady said. She got the door to a point where it would close with a quick action, then moved to try and do something to punch through the signal. Thankfully she had her tools, if not her weapon, so she had what she needed. Probably.

Using her datapad, Ensign Knightgale manages to link into an open subnetwork long enough that Lt. Vassaly-Simmons can make use of the connection to boost the gain on the comms. It's almost certainly a one-shot, though. Once whoever's controlling this detects the access, they'll shut that subnetwork down real quick.

"That's a bit better, Ensign. Message received. Sending a security team, but it might take a bit. Do what you can on your own. Protect that data at all cost, and do what you can to protect civilian lives as well."

Yes Sir. Knightgale - out.

Continue mission, secure the package and save civilians - Captain's orders. We're on our own for a bit.

She turns to the man who belongs to this office.

Director Bacchi, do you have an interface or access to facilities or that super security AI from in here?

Ilarani swore under her breath, and took out her needles. Strictly for medical usage, of course. Such as admistering poisons and toxins to anyone that looked sketchy.

Using her unhindered vision, she kept watch for everyone as they gathered themselves for their newly changed mission statement.

Well, orders were orders, but it wasn't like Arkady didn't intend to do pretty much that anyway. She moved to her next goal - trying to get enough out of what was left of the computer system to get even a partial floor plan. The more they could plan...

Peeking out the door, Dr. Yusil has no problem seeing; her race's ocular rods are specially adapted to see in much darker conditions than this. The office is largely as it was before, though with the maze of cubicle walls it's hard to see very far to know for sure. However, there is the distinct smell of melting plastic and circuits, and, to a lesser extent, burned flesh.

A weak moan comes from a nearby cubicle to the left.

Bacchi's computer was totally fried by the shock grid. You might be able to access the floorplan by one of the computers in the cubicle farm, if any avoided being fried, and if you turn off the shock grid without activating it.That's a good roll. I'll allow you to reuse it when you find a good terminal.

Bacchi is kind of mumbling to himself, a nervous sweat dripping down his face. He seems quite distraught by the situation.

Make a Diplomacy check to try to calm him down.

Ouch a 3. That total's just shy of the required DC to calm him down. Blow a Resolve and it's yours, or try again but take more time.

Dr Yusil walks cautiously out into the cubicle farm, staying low so to avoid being seen over the top of the cubicle walls. As she rounds the corner to the second cubicle, she notices that the first cubicle she passed has not had it's shock grid activated. If someone can deactivate the shock grid safely, it can probably be used.

The office worker laying on the floor in the second cubicle has suffered severe electric shock. The breathing is labored and they have a second degree burn going up one arm, into their clothing, and a hole burned clean through the shoe. Fortunately for this young man, his heart did not stop.

Make a medicine check, adding +2 equipment bonus.

RAW I think primarily they're used to just regenerate your Stamina Points (with a 10 minutes rest) and a couple special abilities. I tend to allow them to do things like cap off really close rolls or allow minor changes in the environment, since as for example if you wanted an alloy metal bar to be laying around for use as a club.

As Legion scans the cubicle farm, looking for signs of movement, he hears a mechanical noise moving around, approaching from map northwest. Over the top of the cubicle walls, in the dim light, he barely notes the movement of a metal-domed head.

Character Sheet

Legion says, barely a whisper, "Metallic head coming towards us."

They quickly scan their surroundings, looking for a good place that they could ambush the figure from.

Map1

The red lights on the map are the sensors you noticed earlier. If you're being seen by one of those, it's likely the data's being fed to the robot. That's likely how they saw you in the first place. So if you can hide from that (like ducking behind a cubicle wall in the northeast quadrant of the map) you might be able to hide for a short time, then run up for an ambush.

That said, if the security robots, ostensibly under control of the AI, are compromised, it likely means the entire AI system is hostile.

It was during this kinda situation that Arkady wished she was less into weapons R&D and more into regular old hacking, but with a little luck she could still help with the situation. She tried to hide away and give herself a solid chance of Overloading the target's weapon for a few seconds.

"Wait, there's a support rod maintenance left over here." Bacchi approaches Oren with a large metal alloy rod. "Those sensors are plastic and glass. An old-school smack might work as well as anything else."

Question what system are you using to attempt the hack? That roll will fail in any case, but I need to know what system you're using.

"<Feast upon bones!>" The Dokaran exclaims, pulling out her needler. She didn't expect it to actually have much effect on the machine, so for that reason she injected herself with a stimulant to improve her natural reflexes. (+1 AC)

She then quickly tries to duck around the machine, trying to get herself back inside Bacchi's office.

Oren stares at the clumsy support rod, her face saying it all... Really? This is the best you can do?

Stay here until the coast is clear, Director. You're in our charge, now.

Oooooh! Okay, that makes more sense. In that case, since he's flat-footed, I'm going to give it to you.

Dr Yusil nimbly avoids the machine before it can react.

At that moment, Vassaly-Simmons runs up and pulls a cable on the robot's weapon-arm. It will not be able to fire this round.

Oren gets a solid hit, though it does minimal (but still some) damange.

Meanwhile, Legion prepares to approach it from behind.

Holding on Legion's action.

Legion's attack was a miss. The nanintes ping off it's metal armor harmlessly.

In response, however, the robot spins and swings its arm at the Commander.

Welp, with the weapon overloaded once Arkady couldn't do it again. Not for a minute or so, and she doubt things would last that long one way or another. Instead, she looked to the systems designed to cook the computers. If they had power still, and hadn't destroyed themselves along with everything else, maybe she could do something exciting with it.

The ones that activated have overloaded (as they're designed to do). However, the one at the computer (with the blue circle) in the cube NEXT TO where Dr. Yusil found survivor seems not to have activated for whatever reason.

Well, that was potentially useful. She might be able to use that someonehow. Arkady moved to the still operating system to see if there was a way to use it cook the attack droid...without cooking anything else. They really needed network access if possible, and if anything was left thanks to this one not frying it then it would be useful.

Legion lashes out with another cloud of nanites at the robot.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

Legion's attack hits, dealing the expected amount of damage to the robot. Legion suspects it would take a decent number of such hits to take the drone down.

Oren waits until that moment to make her charge, and fortunately the robot is distracted enough not to notice (rolled off-line) and does not counter-attack her. She bats at the second camera, and while her hit doesn't take it completely off-line, it does lock it in a map-northwesterly direction. This will, coincidently, leave the northern path toward the elevators unobserved.

Finally, Arkady manages to figure a way to deactivate the shock grid temporarily to access the console. She can easily reactivate it with her custom rig after stepping away.

Well done everyone! You guys are doing fun creative stuff.

Holding on Dr Yusil before the robot takes its round 2 action.

Dr Yusil moves back now that the robot is distracted and moves the unconscious body of her patient as gently as she can out of the way of battle.

The Security Robot takes a swing at Legion-12.

I'm alive, promise.

With the burn victim safely out of direct combat for now, the Doctor wracks her brain for something that'd affect mechanical circuitry. 'If I substitute the protein bonding element for something conductive...'

Idea in mind, she adjusts a few settings on her injector, hoping to limit the machine's reaction time.

Arkady is not having much luck accessing the network. She'll need to try again if she wants access.

Oren hits the camera again, causing only minimal damage. One more good hit should disable it.

Dr Yusil manages to affect the functioning of the security robot; it begins moving in jerky motions that make it more vulnerable to attack.

Holding on Legion for round 3.
