Anjo Aroh |
Is anything still alive? If so, red lion is still up, does Avona have a move to clear a host for Anjo?
GM Farol |
So Hornbori and Avonatha attack would nearly take down the fleeing Human, and Mirtha and Emdi missed the lion who has barely a few HP left. So let us end the combat.
The joined attacks of Mirtha, Emdi and Anjo takes down the last fighting lion, while Avonatha and Hornbori get the fleeing human.
The tripping is not needed as the man hits the ground from the blow of axe.
Vionnia comes closer and says
"I can't believe it it is Archis Peers, he is organizing the tournaments. But he is a cruel and violent man, the wait is he still breathing?"
So... Archis is dying if you want to stabilize him someone would have to do something.
On the fighting grounds beside lion cages, you see an archery range, and plenty of other tournament equipment, there are tents and a royal stand.
If anyone wishes to search them please make a Perception check.
Emdi Emmay |
Emdi will rush up and use Battle Medicine on Archis.
Battle Medicine, DC 15: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Healing: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
As Archis sputters to life, Emdi searches him for any other weapons and disarms him.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Anjo Aroh |
With the combat over, Anjo looks over the weapons to see if there's anything worth using.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Hornbori |
"You owe me a new shield," says Hornbori. "And I mean to make one from your hide unless you start talking. Why did you do this?"
GM Farol |
Emdi heals Archis who opens his eyes and looks at you with disgust and superiority.
As you look at him for weapons the only one that he has his kukri. +1 kukri to be precise.
He turns towards Hornbori as he speaks about his shield. Intimidation check pls
Avonatha begins checking items around the tournament arena but besides the kukri, she finds nothing with a magical aura.
I will keep saying this, you did not check yet the king stand and the tents
Emdi Emmay |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Once the prisoner is secured (Emdi has rope), Emdi will say to him, "Let's take a walk."
He leads the group - prisoner and all - over to search the tents. Let's stick together. One, because Emdi's perception is really low, and two, in case there's more stuff waiting for us.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Case in point.
Hornbori |
Intimidation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
"Leave him to me," Hornbori says to the others. "I believe Emmdi needs help."
Mirtha Darklight |
"Very well, Hornbori. But just cry out for me if he gives you any trouble. I'm good at helping reprobates like him see the light of reason."
Before going to search the tourney grounds, Mirtha stops to give the dwarf a little guidance.
+1 status bonus to his next check.
Mirtha searches through the tents and stands, stopping to also give the area a quick scan with detect magic.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Anjo Aroh |
Anjo's search was for the tournament equipment, which is what I assumed were just a collection of weapons.
Anjo then makes his way over to the tent and searches that.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Avonathalanthalasa Caldon |
Not detecing any agical auras where she was looking she goes to the King's stand, and looks with her eyes as well as sight beyond sight: detect magic
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 perception
GM Farol |
Yeah, sorry Anjo totally regular tournament equipment, when it comes to your past check. And hey you what a great set of perception rolls
Emdi, Mirtha, Anjo and Avonatha begins searching through the grounds. Three of them are so exhausted after the fight that they have troubles seeing anything. But Anjo is more successful in his findings.
In the area of the royal stand locates the hidden compartment containing two invisibility potions. You suspect that Archis had to use them to sneak up on you during the fight.
The northern tent, bedecked in purple and gold, is lit by a lantern and contains a chair stained with blood and surrounded by several scattered ropes. Next to the central supporting pole is a hefty bag that contains an assortment of personal items collected from the
captives and a type II spellstrike arrow. You suspect that Archis uses this tent to hold people for questioning.
The blue and gold southern tent contains a foldable desk and a comfortable bench. There are writing tools and several letters on the desk. Next to the desk is a small chest that contains some of the gold meant to fund the tournament. You also find a ledger hidden in the lining of the bench that provides details about Archis’ other illicit ventures. The ledge may be very useful when further investigating Archis affairs.
However, the letters seem to be the most valuable, in them you can read about a number of nobles reaching to Archis for organizing the fighting tournament and recruit the skillful fighters to join the ninth army. Who are they and how they fit into the local political situation is something that maybe you can learn Venture-Captain can tell you.
In the meantime, Hornbori begins to interrogating Archis himself learning that some powerful people contacted him that are not too fond of the current ruler. They began to gather armed forces to prepare for an uprising.
As you gather all of that information down the river you can see a ship. On it is Venture-Captain Muesello who approaches you with few other Pathfinders saying
"My man saw you leaving the town so we decided to come by here to see if you are ok." He looks at Archis and then at you
"So what have you found?"
Emdi Emmay |
"The fighting tournaments seemed to be organized for the purpose of recruiting skillful fighters for a revolution."
I think the characters would probably understand the reference to the Ninth Army. Have there been eight armies in Taldor's past, so that the ninth would presumably to overthrow the current regime? I can find references to the Sixth Army in the Lost Omens World Guide, but not the Seventh or Eighth.
Society: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
Emdi hands over the ledger and other notes.
"Also, he seemed to be training animals to fight. Animal cruelty!"
Mirtha Darklight |
"Yes, what Emdi said is basically true. It appears that there is a group of nobles that are trying to raise some kind of army. They appear to be engaging in other illicit activities also. It'll take more research and investigation before we can know the true extent of their operation."
Mirtha then adds, "I believe that we may have encountered an individual who could be an asset to the Pathfinder Society in the future. Her name is Vionnia and she seems to be descended from some minor Taldan nobility. She is smart, resourceful and well-connected. She also seemed to be ignorant of the full extent of Archis's operation. I am not sure of her political leanings but I get the impression that she was only organizing the tournaments in order to provide for herself and her family. She is more likely to be misguided into partaking in criminal activities than having pursued them out of wickedness. With the right guidance perhaps the skills she has learned as a criminal could be put to better ends."
GM Farol |
Muesello listens to what you say and takes few notes. His agents gets Archis and the ledgers and letters
"We will look through the documents and speak with him. You did a good job here! Well done." says Venture-Captain as he gives you your Wayfidners back.
"I will be heading on a mission. I need to leave Oppara for few weeks. Who knows maybe you will end there too."
