Seeing the giant, Ragnar feels the adrenaline hit. He doesn't hesitate. Swearing profusely under his breath, he dashes forward and throws the tanglefoot bag at the giant.
What's the expectation around swearing on the Paizo forums? PG-13?
Ranged touch attack vs flat-footed with 1 range increment penalty
tanglefoot: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 2 = 14
He drops his torch and quickly draws his longbow. "I hope that will hold him!" he calls out. "Has anyone even seen anything like this?"
Knowledge check for Meraina to identify the giant. I believe giants should be knowledge (local) and she's trained.
knowledge(local): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Meraina casts magic missile at the giant, draws a tanglefoot bag and 5 foot steps against the wall.
magic missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

All over the Ettin’s body strange bloody runes are carved into ist skin.
These are diabolic runes which could be used to protect giants from draconic beings with the right focus. And the amulet could serve as exactly that focus. Essentially, you assume that Aureliax would not have been able to protect the town as it would not have been able to harm this Ettin.
You see that the giant with two heads is hit by the bag and it comes apart and goo bursts out, entangling the giant and then becoming tough and resilient upon exposure to air ...
reflex : 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
... and it is also glued to the ground!
Suddenly, a magical force spell hits the Ettin's face!
*
The Ettin is clearly weakened somehow! Almost as if it is sick!
It tries to break free but it is not able to.
Strength : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
You are all up!

Petro moves forward and tosses a ray of fire at the beast.
touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 91d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
the fire domain ability...just fyi
Time to smash the ugly thing! kiliuk says as he rushes forward, a froth starting to form on his mouth as he barrels forward recklessly. He swings his mace with a grunt of exertion as he does.
attack, charge, PA, rage: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 1 + 2 = 241d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
-2 AC til nest round

Should I have rolled the 2d4 rounds that the tanglefoot bag is going to last? I feel like we shouldn't have that information anyway.
Meraina casts magic missile at the ettin again and moves 20' closer.
magic missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Ragnar is about to draw an arrow when Kiliuk runs by him. He curses again. "Straight in? Alright." He drops his bow and charges after Kiliuk.
Charging power attack against the ettin, -2AC
greatsword: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 13
damage: 2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 + 3 = 19
I moved Kiliuk to the spot at which I think he would have to end his charge. Also, I think power attack is +2 damage. So he would have 3 (rolled) + 4 (strength) + 2 (power attack) = 9 damage on his attack.

i thought i moved Kiliuk...my bad..thanks man! and Kiliuk's damage should be 10...he raged, hence the roll of 3, his STR goes up, so that is 5, plus the 2 from PA...i hadn't realized the typos...darn fat fingers...

Petro's fire burns the Ettin from range!
Kiliuk moves forward to attack but first faces the Ettin's flail as he has reach and the half-orc is hit hard but also the Ettin is wounded by the attack.
AoO flail : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
*
Ragnar moves forward too and can really slash across the Ettin's abdomen!
Another magical missile hits the Ettin and he cannot endure more!
You only hear a ...
"Erghhhh .... ahrghhrrhhrhh ..." and the large giant drops to the ground like a stone.

Clinging to the foul skin of the Ettin you find a beautiful, glittering golden pendant in the shape of dragon's head which was smeared with blood. You can easily search the rest of the cavern, finding nothing but filth.
Additionally, a ring and several Thassilonian relics are bound to the Ettin's right hand.
The markings which were cut into the skin of the Ettin are diabolic runes which could be used to protect giants from draconic beings with the right focus. Together with the ring as well as the relics, the amulet could serve as exactly that focus. Essentially, you assume that Aureliax would not have been able to protect the town as it would not have been able to harm this Ettin.
The woman that the Ettin dropped is probably Gilda Korgren. She also has runes carved all over her body.

Petro examines the ring and the assorted relics.
would know religion apply here also? not thinking so...but can't hurt to ask
He then checks the odd runes on the woman's body.
heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
This is peculiar...she was killed by the runes...and not the ettin. I have never heard of such a thing. I suppose there are references to this somewhere, but I will document and pass it along to the scholarly types for recording. Meraina, can you make sense of these relics?

Still gripping his sword, Ragnar looks down at the woman's corpse where the ettin dropped her. He turns and puts his hand on the half-orc's shoulder. "Kiliuk... do you want help bringing her back to the town?"
Meraina casts detect magic and inspects the amulet, the ring and the relics. She will attempt to identify any magic items. How many times should she roll spellcraft?

GM Nowruz |

Kiliuk nods in sorrow.
The sorcerer can see that the amulet is magical but it’s nature is beyond her understanding.
After you have defeated the ettin and recovered the golden pendant, you emerge from the cave to find yourselves ... face to face with Aurelliax in her true form (picture in the slide deck).
She is a magnificent mature adult gold dragon whose presence dwarfs your own.

GM Nowruz |

The dragon raises an eyebrow when hearing Petro’s positive words ... silence follows for several seconds.
”Thank you, Petro, Kiliuk, Meraina and Ragnar, for protecting the people of Highdelve, and for recovering my amulet. Truly, you are the heroes these people needed. Let me commend you, as well, for sparing the lives of those children that belong to this town ... I will take care that they are loved and brought back to this community!“

Ragnar swallows. His mouth has gone dry. I never got to see a linnorm back home. He clears his throat and speaks. "Your Dragon-ness. Here's your amulet." He holds it up for Aurellliax. "We're Pathfinders. Venture-Captain Dreng sent us. There was a plot against you. The tiefling can tell you more. He should be around here somewhere. We tied him up."

GM Nowruz |

You see the golden pendant levitate in the golden dragon’s direction and it vanishes when touching her scales.
She looks at you for a while and a dragon smile appears.
”Thank you Pathfinders! I have taken care of the Tiefling. Please accept these as a token of my appreciation. These evil giant worshipers were using diabolic magic and sacrifice to protect giants from draconic beings with the right focus. Together with the ring as well as the relics, my amulet served as exactly that focus. Essentially, I would not have been able to protect the town as I would not have been able to harm the Ettin.“
Four statuettes of gold dragons with diamonds for eyes appear out of thin air and levitate to your hands.

Petro has to control himself from positively squee-ing in delight at the last comment. He gathers himself and nods.
I am truly blessed. This will be a tale to tell my children and their children.
