Carrufikus
Carrufikus looks through the morlock corpses cautiously.
"Oh dear, Desna. The poor souls. This really is a wretched room."
Medicine: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Carrufikus notices some blue blisters on the bodies! Even if for the briefest moment, a person who touches these bodies will be exposed to an awful disease that will leave you bed ridden and weakened. If you're not hale of body, it might kill you...
For the identification an avoidance of the danger, each hero earns 8 XP.
Beatrice "Bibi" Beerswizzler
Good eye, Ruffy! I doubt there's goign to be anything of value in here, so I'm willing to skip the search in order to not get the Blue Ick.
Bibi then takes out the map sketch, and looks thoughtfully. Hmmm...you konw, theres some space here that could be something--lemme look!

Elena Solheim
Seeing that Bibi needs the assurance of a second set of eyes, Elena also looks around for secret doors. She adds magical detection to her search.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Elena's eyes spot something out of place. One of the study carrels has hinges on it. Elena realizes that it folds up and reveals a door to the east. It opens as soon as it's folded.
A worktable covered with blank scrolls and papers sits against the eastern wall of this room, while to the north stands a cabinet with several closed drawers.
Elena Solheim
Flat check vs Stupefied: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Elena once more repeats the simple spell to detect magic, working the way through her muddled state. She moves into the chamber, getting scanning the space before moving to the worktable to study its contents.
"Bibi, perhaps take a look at the drawers? You've keen eyes for surprises. Like and what not."
Beatrice "Bibi" Beerswizzler
You got it!
Elated she was right, Bibi whistles a jaunty tune while examining the drawers.

Elena doesn't find anything magical in the room. Bibi finds the cabinet locked
Several books are stored within—copies of texts produced by scribes and once intended for sale or as gifts to Belcorra’s allies in other lands, all of whom are now dead. These books consist of 2 Bulk for Morlibint, though. There is also a scroll here written in Infernal. Someone would have to be able to read it to make sense of it.

This means you also break your tools... They can be fixed, but they're busted now. People can also roll Athletics to Break Open and hope nothing inside breaks.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Peldur's hand slips off with such alacrity that there's a chance he could play it off like a warm up...
Noroc Zverokruh
As Peldur looks at his hand, Noroc gives it a try.
Athletics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 LMAO
Elena Solheim
"What in all the lands of Golarion are you three doing?" Elena asks, flabbergasted.
When she sees Bibi's sad face and broken tools, she sighs. "Do any of you have a repair kit? If so, I can probably fix those. Otherwise we might want to head back and repair them. Or... perhaps we have a key that works? Or can find one?"
Carrufikus
Carrufikus looks at his companions and simply holds his head in his hands. "This is not the way I expected you to try and open a door. You all need a bit of Desna's luck!"
Carrufikus proceeds to cast Guidance on whoever is willing to take it!
Dungeon Master S - 2e
The recently quiet Augrael steps up, and with Guidance from Carrufikus, tears open the drawers. He then waves his arms like he's a country illusionist's assistant to highlight a magic trick's reveal.
Several books are stored within—copies of texts produced by scribes, and likely interesting to the esoteric Indeed, Bulk 2 worth of books for Morlibint.
Not all of the scrolls on the desk are blank; one tucked beneath the others is an infernal contract. If you can't understand Infernal, it'd be impossible to understand, no matter how smart you are...
Elena Solheim
Having anticipated linguistic problems, Elena casts a spell that will allow her to understand languages for the next hour. Then she reads the infernal scroll.
Carrufikus
"Impressive work, Augrael. It looks like you have found Desna's favor!"
Looking over the books, unable to read any of the writing, Carrufikus comments. "It looks like somebody had a lot to say."
The cleric casts detect magic to see if anything in the room gives off an aura of magic.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Elena, make a Perception, Society, or Legal Lore check.
Elena Solheim
Society: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Nope, not gonna accept that
Society (Hero Point Reroll): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Dungeon Master S - 2e
It turns out that this is actually Korlock's contract. She also notes that his service was meant to end if 99 weeks and 99 days passed without a new order from Belcorra. He's standing there for no reason right now.
Elena Solheim
Unless he's still been given an order...
"I think we have what we need to dismiss the devil. Let's go see them."
Noroc Zverokruh
Makes sense to me, Noroc says. Anything that gets rid of a devil is fine in my book.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
The party returns to Korlock.
"Oh, you again. Stahp. You're not allowed past here or whatever."
Dungeon Master S - 2e
"What? What're you doing here?"
Carrufikus
"Greetings, Korlock. I don't know if you remember us, but we're here to let you know that we found out that your service was meant to end if 99 weeks and 99 days passed without a new order from Belcorra. I think your time is up and you are free to go home. By our calculation, you are standing here for no reason at all right now."
Dungeon Master S - 2e
"Are you f$+!ing kidding me? Are YOU F$~@ING KIDDING ME? Let me see that!" Korlok spits on the ground before preparing to leave this plane of existence. He then stops and turns, "I'm not the only one here. There's a zebub janitor on the level above and a contract devil named [url=]Urevian on a lower level (who has several other devils in his command). the zebub is a piece of s*++, but Urevian is shrewd but well-known for keeping his word." He then vanishes, but not before unlocking the door he was guarding.
For defeating the devil via contract law, you each earn 80 XP.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Peldur slides through, not sure of what to expect. An overturned chamber pot lies next to a rectangular patch of fungus that may have once been a mattress in the corner of this room. A skeleton is just visible within the fungus.
There's nothing magical, nothing valuable, nothing informative...
Elena Solheim
"Do we, uh, want to search that area? Did whoever was here get stuck in this chamber, unable to bypass the devil? What's the story here?"
Carrufikus
"You ask good questions, Elena. Clearly if that bearded fiend remained here, nobody was getting in or out. I'm just confused why Belcorra let her agreement lapse. Clearly she knew that if you didn't keep giving orders that she would lose her bearded buddy. Do you think she wanted us to find our way in here?"
Dungeon Master S - 2e
If one could speak with the dead, there may be answers within, but there's nothing here to tell the tale the old fashioned way.
Carrufikus
"Shall we go explore the Northern section of this level? I would feel better clearing the area of trouble before we descend any further. I always like to invite good luck into my world."
Beatrice "Bibi" Beerswizzler
Let's go!

The party heads to the "North Wing" and reveals a hallway with a pair of doors. Bibi checks the door to the east. It's silent beyond, but she quickly realizes it's locked.
IIRC, her picks are broken. You may also have found a key, but I can't spend the time looking right now.

As per Slack...
Bibi grunts in frustration, then says FINE, fine, we'll just use this!! She pulls out one of several keys the party has found, and tries them until one works!!
Noroc Zverokruh
Why didn't you just use the godsforsaken key in the first place?!? Noroc mutters underneath his breath, shaking his head and peering over Bibi's head into the newly-opened room.

the halfling's sharp ears pick up Noroc's snark. She puffs a breath to blow a stray lock of hair from her forehead, looking back at him with a lofty expression. It's the PRINciple of the thing.

Shelves line the walls, while what appears to be a partially completed—or perhaps partially ruined—sculpture of a sprawling city sits atop a five-foot-diameter circular table.
Looking over all of it is a wooden statue of what you can only guess is of Belcorra herself.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
The party stands there, looking in, unmoving as the statue for some time before they....
Elena Solheim
Elena finds everything fascinating, but opts to search the shelves before studying the sculpture and statue. "There has to be more to this than meets the eye."
Dungeon Master S - 2e
As soon as Elena walks into the room, the statue begins to move, taking a straight line to counter her approach!
