As long as the skill check you're rolling makes sense within the confines of your plan, I'm good with it...

It being the weekend, we’ll shoot for enacting your plan on Monday...should be enough time for everyone to pipe in and flesh out their actions...

So, looks like to me the plan is to distract the meeting between the two agents through loud music, 'bugged' food/drinks, and perhaps a little ruckus...
So now we'll enter the Preparation phase:
In this phase each of you must describe what you're doing to prepare and make a single skill check that must meet an unrevealed DC to succeed; if 3 of you pass your check, this phase succeeds and we'll to into enactment...
Wesley has already mentioned using Profession (Merchant) to find/hire a band and Bibi mentioned using Diplomacy to assist in that endeavor and perfectly inline with your stated plan...
Other things you can consider:
Perception (to identify the agents or get the layout of the building for a quick escape if needed)
Survival or Knowledge Nature/Local (finding bugs for the food)
Stealth (hiding your presence from the agents, if needed)
Diplomacy/Bluff/Intimidate (for bribing the cook to sabotage the food and/or getting leverage on the owner to look the other way/allow a band to play)
These are just ideas for those that might be struggling with something to do but I'm flexible so use your imagination; if there be other things/checks you wish to try, I'll more than likely allow it as long as it seems to fit within your stated plan...
Have fun storming the Tavern!

Y'all have a good jump start on the Prep phase...we'll shoot for moving forward tomorrow morning to give the others a chance to do their prep work...

![]() |

So now it's another skill check for each of you to enact your plan...and feel free to use your imagination. As before, as long as your skill check seems applicable, I'll allow it...
For example, to put bugs in the food, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, or bribing the cook (Diplomacy/Intimidation) would all work...but if you have other angles in that area and can sell it, I'm good with it...
Note that the DC will be slightly higher this go round and you still need 3 successes to pass it...

![]() |

Question! Do we get any bonus because we got all 5/5 successes from last round?

![]() |

No, but if you’re close to the DC and you’ve role-played well, I usually give you the benefit of the doubt... ;)
Also, the party only needs half the PCs to succeed to pass the phase, so a failure here or there doesn’t necessarily hurt you...

I want to save it for the final part, we might need that.

![]() |

Good role-playing, y'all...I'll give Omnia a little more time to post...but will resolve in the morning. I've played with him numerous times and know him to be a reliable poster so I hope everything's OK. I know he'd mentioned some issues earlier, and these are crazy times right now, so I'll reach out to him via pm...

So, remind me how that luck thing works again. Can anyone who hasn’t used it yet take it at-will, or do we have to get Seren to wink at us first? (Basically trying to figure out if we should all use it this round or if we need to strategize a little more.)

![]() |

It is a power, so it's a standard action, but I don't think we are going in strict rounds, more like phases, so I figured Seren could probably drop it once per phase.
For most clerics, it's a touch ability but Seren can use it at range on those she has prayed with (currently 4 allies).
Seren has six uses per day.
So four left.
It's on rolls the round after it is cast, so I tried to make narrative sense of it as well: Seren made a prayer for herself before approaching the barman; she poked her head out of the kitchen door and dropped it on Wesley as he came in.
I'm thinking that we have to try and sweet talk the barman and his brother, who both gave us permission to have a band and put stuff in the food.
And then we also need to sort out the guard as well.
Maybe we claim that we got the wrong bowls? We were trying to get Elena and Omnia?
Or we tell the guards that we are glad they came. We think we saw someone selling fake pearls. They really need to investigate?

![]() |

Seren could run over to the guards and play the damsel in distress, or Bibi could? We're so glad you're here. These people were trying to trick us into selling their fake pearls. Trying to lead us innocent folk into a life of crime.
How's your bluff?

![]() |

Not trying to influence what you do but just an FYI...there are several windows in this place and there may also be service entrances/exits that might be found, especially for those near or behind the bar...not that you have to go that route, just that the scenario’s rote descriptions don’t mention such but they can be seen on the map...
You can try to get outta this as a team or individually or with a mix of both, it’s totally up to you...
And just like the other phases, the party needs just three successes...
The times I’ve played this before, this phase was one of the most fun...

![]() |

I’ve been referring to this as the “everything goes to sh**” phase because... well, this is the phase where everything goes to sh**.
Anyway, I’m a CHA caster, my bluff is a serviceable 4—equal to my Acrobatics, since Otha mentioned some windows.
Of course, I have an ace up my sleeve that will let me roll at a +14...

I'm looking at the windows as well with engineering. xD
My other option is to rush past them with CMB.
And last... I don't want to jump into the seawater in the middle because she has armor and drowning could be possible. She could just hold her breath and reach the bottom and *walk* under the bar back to the docks?

![]() |

Ok, seems like we are doing fine so far, I hope. Fingers crossed. how many successes do we need this time?

![]() |

I thiiiiiink it's still 3, but the DC is higher.
Also: Seren, don't worry, Bibi's not abandoning you. The docks are likely to be damp, and she has Wintry Touch... shouldn't be too hard for her to make the floor slippery so it's easier to rush past a guard ;D

![]() |

Huong, I think you still have Seren's lucky roll, you could try to roll again.

![]() |

Looks like “the everything goes to sh** phase”, as Bibi says, is gonna be close...we’ll see how’s Seren’s check goes...depending on that, I may or may not have to bot Omnia...
I sent a pm to Omnia yesterday and haven’t heard back yet...I hope all is well...

![]() |

Sorry for the absence...RL hit me hard this past week and I've neglected things because of it.
Getting back into it

No worries, Omnia, real life comes first. Hope things get better for you soon...

That was really cool! :D
Glad you enjoyed it. Y'all roleplay well and are a fun group to GM...makes for entertaining reading... :)
The next task is much more standard fare...I'll get a post setting that up later this evening. Not that you necessarily need anything but, seeing as you're in the middle of a port city in the early afternoon, you do have time to shop if there's anything you forgot to purchase before hitting the sewers...

![]() |

...Bit worried about what kind of bending Omnia gets in a sewer, if I'm being honest.
That would be an interesting thought...
But not to worry. I believe it counts as "underground" for terrain type so I get stuff that works with stone/earth but no sewage bending. :-P

![]() |

Hahahhahaha xDDD
I don't think Elena has the stomach to watch that happen.

![]() |

Yeah, I'm having notification problems as well.

![]() |

Yeah, it's been odd lately...I get notifications for most of my sessions, but every now and then, there'll be a session or two where I get nothing...

![]() |

Omnia, I have a 7L Cryo. Not sure if the mechanics are the same, but Point-Blank and Precise Shot feats help alot.
From my understanding those feats help for my stuff as well. I plan on picking them up at later levels. I'll need spell pen and greater spell pen too as some of my stuff isn't physical, depending on the terrain.

![]() |

I assume that means no one else wants Mage Armor. Curious. Are you all fine with a lower AC or are you confusing it with the P2 garbage Mage Armor? I know I have to keep looking spells up for each version of the game because so many (~30%) have been changed.
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance: no
Description: An invisible but tangible field of force surrounds the subject of a mage armor spell, providing a +4 armor bonus to AC. Unlike mundane armor, mage armor entails no armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, or speed reduction. Since mage armor is made of force, incorporeal creatures can't bypass it the way they do normal armor.

![]() |

For myself, I don't see the 2 AC boost for 1 hour being worth your wand charge. Wands aren't cheap and I'd hate for you to expend the charge on me and us end up not having combat in that hour time period.
My AC isn't terrible and my HP is pretty good for level one. I appreciate the offer, but I'm ok.

![]() |

Yeah, Elena already has a Chain Shirt so she doesn't need it either.
