"According to our host's exclamation, I believe they are of hostile intent. Preparing to engage." M says as she turns on her combat tracking software.
Do we get a surprise round? :3
M would love to turn on combat targeting and then full attack ^^

Emerald "M" Eyes |

do we get a map? :3
M aims at the nearest kidnap-bot.
Attack vs KAC: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Crit damage for KAC below 24: 1d6 ⇒ 4
ignores one point of hardness, assuming the robots have any. In other words: +1 damage against enemies with hardness
After a snap judgement on the likely construction of their foes, M fires a shell directly into the area of one of the nearest robot's propulsion units.
Ammo: 6/6-> 5/6

Yep, you should have a map. When you click on position when the drones first appeared, you should have a map.

Aye, I found the google link, but I think you may have safety turned on? It tells me it's modern ruins and a gif, but it does not manage to load the actual image...maybe only I have the problem but I suspect you may have to adjust some settings to make it available publicly.

Still works. Perhaps a second link could help.

Emerald "M" Eyes |

I don't remember a room, but it looks like we're in one xD
Does that mean I don't have line of sight/effect to the robots? T_T
.
Unrelated: is that guy in the other box our elf buddy?
.
Also, I'd like to recommend google slides and roll20 as superior means of sharing maps in PbP
I don't mind trying it out this way, but I have no way to edit my position at the moment... or is that the point? XD

AX-498 |

No initiative? I guess that takes some of the punch out of Blitz style :)
"I intend to engage these aggressors in melee combat. Please attempt not to hit me." The android's inflection indicates that maybe that was a joke? It's hard to tell.
Walk up to the closest robot and whack it with the hammer.
Hammer hit: 1d2 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Hammer damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
D'oh! A 1 on the first hit. Bodes poorly...

C'tikt-6 |

Quickly scoping the closer drone with their rifle. But waves their hand over their gun, with a silent flash of red light the rifle glows a soft red glow.
Cast Supercharge weapon

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Aha! Upon further observation, I think I figured out the issue with my attack roll. 1d2 is not a d20. Oops.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Welp, guess it was fated to be so. :/

I do all of my maps with photoshop.
Most of the walls are damaged or crumbling. But yes, you're in a room. ;)
The other guy is your elf buddy.
If you want to use roll20, I'll set up a room. ;)

You drop the hammer.

Awesome, I think that spell allows you to do more damage.

Alyson Reed |

Hm, still does not load in the browser for me, but I can 'download' and view that way. No idea what the issue is, but I can work around that. As M pointed out, google slides may make it easier for us to e.g. move our characters.
Alyson steps closer to the crumbling wall, hoping it would provide some cover, then takes aim at the drone with her handgun. While she intended not to fire the first shot, the androids seemed to have made up their mind to engage these drones. Taking a moment to ensure her aim was true, Alyson pulled the trigger, aiming at the same one M was targetting
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Damage(P): 1d6 ⇒ 4

Retri Valnik |

Retri's hesitance to start a fight by no means extended to 'kidnapping drones' as the other team had called them. Accordingly, he drew his own rifle and snapped off a shot at the closer of the two drones. With luck, they'd prevail handily and be able to get some information from the drones' wreckage.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

[dice=Attack]1d20+2 [dice=Damage]1d8
The battery falls out of your rifle.
Well, this is going great! Is the surprise round over?
Yes, it is. Don't drop your hammer or get a natural 1 this time.

Emerald "M" Eyes |

So we all get a normal turn now, then? :3
M activates her Combat Tracking software and takes aim again.
Attack vs KAC + combat tracking: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
3 nat 1s, a 19 and a 20 is a rather odd start to this encounter...

C'tikt-6 |

6 Takes aim with the charged up weapon.
Engineering to see how these work: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Rifle vs closest: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 4d6 ⇒ (1) + (1, 1, 4, 2) = 9

Alyson Reed |

"What...what are you doing? Are you malfunctioning or something? Bad timing...Get them!" - with these words, she leads her target slightly, then pulls the trigger again.
Move action to active Get em versus damaged, drone...+1 morale bonus for allies attack rolls. Standard to fire.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17 Damage(P): 1d6 ⇒ 4

AX-498 |

"Apologies. It seems the hydraulics in my arm require more maintenance than I had initially realized."
Pick up the hammer, don't care if it provokes, trying to hit the closest one again.
Hammer?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
"Recalibration in process: estimated time to completion unknown. Given my miscalculation of these events, I request that you get our host to safety, and return for me once additional firepower is obtained. I am not edible, so am likely to be left in a reparable state."
Man... this is some quality luck right here! :P

Apparently, the dice hate you.

Brother Raloveg |

Raloveg, initially in shock about the attack, finally snaps out of it and pulls out a blaster. He nervously points at the nearest drone, muttering "Light protect us." and fires.
Azimuth Laser Pistol vs EAC: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage, F: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Retri Valnik |

Retri was fairly sure that they were just having a run of bad luck, rather than probability being actively skewed against them. This was not much comfort to him as he retrieved his battery and made sure it was properly secured in place this time.
2 move actions, by my count - one to retrieve the battery and another for the reload.

EltonJ |

Okay, cool. I think it's my turn.
The sparking drone makes an attack on Brother Raloveg with it's freeze ray.
drone attack: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (7) - 3 = 4, cold damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The second drone attacks Retri.
drone attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, cold damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Both are misses.

Emerald "M" Eyes |

well... that was much less dangerous than I had feared xD
"Glitch patched, systems nominal."
M takes aim again, firing two more shots in rapid succession at the closer drone.
Attack vs KAC + Combat Tracking + Get 'em - Full Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 13

Again, Move action for Get Em, Standard to attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 = 24 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Emerald "M" Eyes |

There were just two, right? xD
M looks around for more trouble. After deciding that there isn't any, she reloads her weapon with a new magazine and then redistributes shells between her other magazines.
Ammo: 2/6 -> 6/6
In backpack: Rounds, Heavy (40) -> Rounds, Heavy (36)

Emerald "M" Eyes |

M investigates the crumpled piles of parts that were once kidnapper drones.
Engineering (Identify Creature): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
can we steal the freeze rays or some batteries? :D
Also, I vote explore deeper before they figure out to use stronger minions xD

Emerald "M" Eyes |

M uses her built-in tools to eject the two batteries and then holds them up in the light of a flashlight that seems to be built into her left eye.
"Anyone need spare ammo before we move on?"
I'm going to assume one battery each and that they're both 19/20 charges xD
Also, M will want some batteries eventually, but right now only her tent can take 'em xD

Retri Valnik |

"Is there anything we can learn about their programming?" Retri asked, in a question directed at the technically-minded. "Such as where they're controlled from and what route they would take to get home, perhaps."
Given the damage they'd inflicted and the likely difficulties of deciphering the drones' programming, he wasn't terribly optimistic, but it was worth asking.

Emerald "M" Eyes |

M puts the batteries away in her backpack and shrugs.
"I can try to gain access to the robot's storage devices."
M starts opening up the armor of the more intact robot and eventually tries plugging into it.
since neither roll was called for, I'll just put them in alphabetical order:
Computers (Hack?): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Engineering (get the power working but only for memory): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
I suppose M can also try to use one of the Standard Batteries to try and power the electronics...

EltonJ |

Computers (Hack) is the right call.
Computers (Hack?): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Engineering (get the power working but only for memory): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
You managed to turn on the power in the drone, and hack it's memory. The drone was turned on a year ago, by a dark elf. The purpose was to abduct a light elf and return it for study.

Emerald "M" Eyes |

While analyzing the drone's memory module, M states flatly that "it would seem that the dark ones wish to study the light ones. I'll see if I can't find directions to the would be victim's destination..."
Anyone want to retreat yet? Retreat is always an option :3

Brother Raloveg |

Raloveg slowly stows away his pistol, clearly shaken by the extremely short fight that took place. He walks over to where M is analysing the drone.
"The Dark Ones and the light ones...?" Raloveg suddenly fills the gap in M's discourse and his eyes widen. "You mean that... the Dark Ones are dark elves?" The Vesk stares off into the distance as if searching for something. After a while, he shakes his head.
"What should we do? I reckon we should try to get some information about the dark elves if we are to report back, but this does seem rather risky. Retri?" he says as he turns to the captain.

Retri Valnik |

"I think more information is called for," Retri said, "I suspect sooner or later, the missing drones will prompt a response, and if we can head it off, so much the better.I'd favour investigating the caves. We can always turn back if it looks like we're getting out of our depth."

Emerald "M" Eyes |

M turns and looks at AX for a few moments, then realization hits.
"Oh right. Why don't you take point, AX?"
