So, you control the Abyss?:

OK, this round you have control of the Abyss. These are the potential effects you can achieve. Valrar, let me know what you want to do, feel free to be creative.

Quake: Each creature standing in a 20-foot radius must attempt a DC 20 Reflex save or fall prone. Fissures open in the earth, and every creature on the ground has a 25% chance to fall into one (Reflex DC 20 avoids). The fissures are 40 feet deep. At the end of the round, all fissures grind shut. Treat all trapped creatures as if they were in the bury zone of an avalanche, trapped without air (Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook 429). In Subtier 14–15, increase the DC of the Reflex save by 2.

Meteor Strike: Two meteors strike the battlefield, as per the
spell meteor swarm.

Acid Bubble: An Abyssal bubble bursts, spraying acid on all
creatures within a 20-foot radius. This deals 10d6 points of acid damage (Reflex DC 21 half ). In Subtier 14–15, the damage increases to 13d6, and the saving throw DC increases to 23.

Abyssal Minions: The dirt of the Abyss squirms with life, as
a 20-foot-radius spread of grasping claws springs from the ground. This functions like a black tentacles spell (CL 15th, or CL 17th in Subtier 14–15).

Other: The PCs could potentially create other effects, such as altering terrain features or even creating crude structures from thin air. Allow them some leeway in how they decide to shape the Abyss, especially if it creates fun or cinematic effects.

So you drank the blood of a Demon Lord:

Abyssal Attunement: You no longer take penalties on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma based skill checks based on the difference between the Abyss’s alignment and your own. Additionally, you are particularly adept at manipulating the raw substance of the Abyss, an ability that will have mechanical benefits in your encounter with Koth’Vaul.

Initiative: You gain a +2 bonus on initiative checks.
Epic Strikes: Your attacks with natural and manufactured weapons bypass DR/epic.
Mythic Power: You gain two uses of mythic power per day. You can use this power in the following ways.
• Surge: After you fail any check that uses a d20 roll, as an immediate action you can expend one use of mythic power to roll 1d6 and retroactively add the result to the check.
• Extra Action: Up to once per round as a free action on your turn, you can expend one use of mythic power to take an additional standard action. This action cannot be used to cast a spell.

Rogar chews on a cigar then blinks away as he uses his shift power then steps near Alie.

"Damm things..." he mutters to her.

He starts casting a summoning spell.

swift, 5' step and start summon monster 6

Rogar manages to get himself out of the tentacles with his conjurer powers and starts to cast a summoning of his own.

The giant beetle roars and raises its front legs in the air, bringing them crashing down near various members of the group. They shake the ground, possibly knocking some of you prone but all of you manage to keep your feet.

Rolls:

Reflex, Alie: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21, Heroism +2
Reflex, Fendahl: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Reflex, Rogar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28, +2 vs spells and SLA's

Inside the mouth of the beetle Bauble finds himself starting to melt.

Acid Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
From my reading of Ablative Barrier it only protects you from attacks rather than envionmental effects like this

Bauble casts Vanish (defensively), hoping that the retriever cannot see him, slides into the teeth, and waits his chance to slip by.

stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31, + bonus for invisibility if it applies.

Bauble vanishes and scurries off. The giant Retriever looks about with its many eyes but doesnt seem able to track him. The Worm that Walks ignores him entirely.

The figure in the mouth casts a spell. Inside the mouth Bauble notices the second worm that walks at the back appears to cast the same spell! Something is clearly up. Several of the group recognise the casting as being an Acid Fog and thick green rolling vapours engulf Alie, Rogar and Valrar, burning them! The giant betle leg seems unaffected.

You each take 9 damage, Rogar maintains his concentration. the green area is the acid fog. Note it works like solid fog, slowing movement and obscuring vision.

Yes to etrievers but not to the worm. Vladek got some info (above). The worm is dungeoneering, taking your first roll you get a 30

Rogar recalls that Worms that Walk heal rapidly.

Sadly not. Vladek got a bunch of stuff above. I am treating him as rare as he has scenario specific changes.

I have no problem with you using lots of summons, PbP makes it easier to use than in many formats. Unfortunately your summons lack reach and as the Retrievers are making use of their 15' reach your summons cannot reach the one attacking you. The one to the north is lower down as it is avoiding entering the black tentacles. You may change your actions if you wish.

I was summoning the tigers on the same level as the retriever and then charge into melee range - provoking possibly/probably due to the 15' reach. If they cannot charge/pounce, then would summon them in base-to-base and still get the first 3 attacks (no rakes).
Yellow was just moving and not attacking due to the climb. I can reposition on the map if the cliffs are obstructing. I am assuming the retriever is above me? How high is the cliff? 10' or more?

Each of the cliff ledges is 5' high, th boulders are 10' high and get in the way of things. The retrievers are at their maximum reach. The one next to you is in the 4th square up, allowing it to reach to the ground with its 15' reach. Your tigers are 10' tall but only have 5' reach, leaving them 5' short of the one on you if they are on the same level. The 3 you have on green are 10' short as it is 15' above the ledge where you were

Blue is only 10' up, standing on the boulder and therefore within reach.

I will try and make it clearer with a diagram. Does that make sense? Each | is a square. Let me know what you want to do

So Sorry, I am still not getting it. Can you add Fendahl to the diagram side view? are the retrievers flying? I thought on the ground, so that may be my gap. So even Fendahl and Kirrah (pre-petrified) would not have been able to reach green?

Yes, the retrievers have giant locust wings and are flying 15' in the air. You would not have been able to reach them pre petrification. If this changes what you want to do go ahead.

Quote:

Then, more things start happening. The ground rumbles beneath your feat and a massive metal spider erupts from the ground, scattering you all with loose stones and dead insects. As it emerges it spreads enormous locust like wings and takes to the air!

The creature emerges close to Fendahl and Kirrah. It flies up and above them, its many eyes glittering in the light. All eight eyes glow and they shoot a pale grey beam of light straight into Kirrah.

Ok, so if I put the three tigers on blue, instead of green, can they get their bite/claws attacks? Yellow I moved to greenie, but cannot reach it/attack. I still hoped it to draw an AOO and give it a different target.

Hrrmmm! Mechanical spiders with locust wings! What has the world come to?

Two of the rigers launch themselves at the northern retriever. Claws scrape against metal creating a hideous shrieking noise and they leave several deep gashes on its body.

OK, putting Qadathra onto delay.

The northernmost retriever seems annoyed by the tigers menacing it. It turns its many claws and viscious fangs onto them. It shreds one of the tigers into a mess of gory meat with its claws and then bites the other one savagely. However, it has not forgotten its original target and a beam of furious flame erupts from its many eyes and strikes Vladek a glancing blow across the chest.

Red tiger is killed by the 4 claw attacks, green takes 16 damage.Vladek makes the reflex save against the beam and takes 23 fire damage.

The second retriever ignores the tigers which cannot reach it and flies up, over the tentacles. It dops down to bring Vladek and Fendahl into its reach, braving the tentacles. While they grab at the creature the tentacles can find no purchase. The creatures claw slash goes well wide but the eye beam strikes Fendahl in the back. He ducks the worst of it though.

Fendahl takes 20 fire damage. Green is flying 15' in the air.

Valrar walks ponderously through the fog, mere steps away from the leg but too slow to go all out on it.

Attack vs. Leg: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (10) + 29 = 39
Damage: 1d4 + 28 ⇒ (4) + 28 = 32

Valrar wades his way towards the leg and strikes out at it but his blade does not seem to be able to penetrate its thick chitinous plates.

Yes, a 39 misses the beetle

Qadathra activates a wand, granting some of the party the power of prayer.

Qadathra is 30' in the air and prayer is 40'r so I think it only hits Vladek, Fendahl and maybe Rogar and the north tiger. Sadly the retrievers are unaffected as it is mind affecting and they are constructs.

Vladek manages to cast a spell on himself and then tries to duck away from the two massive retrievers. One manages to catch him with a viscious blow to the shoulder.

You only need to make one acrobatics check for movement, not for each square. However, you do need to make one per creature you are trying to avoid. Sadly neither roll passes. Only one OA hits, dealing 25 damage. Defending Bone gives DR5/bludgeoning and claws do slashing and bludgeoning damage sadly.

The head of the giant beetle swings around and its glinting eyes fixate on one of the tigers. The massive pincer like jaws shoot out and the tiger is simply engulfed.

The tiger takes 24 damage and now is in the mouth of the beast.

The retriever inside the monsters mouth lashes out at the tiger, eviscerating it in a bloody mess. It then buzzes forward a little and its many eyes scan the area looking for a target. It cannot perceive Bauble or the group as they are on the ground out of its line of sight currently and so its attention focuses on the little dragon flying around over the tentacles.

A beam of fire rips out of the beetles mouth and looks like it will incinerate the little dragon but at the last moment it manages to loop in the air and avoid it.

The range of summon monster is close, so 55' for you I think. You cannot summon the elemental that far away, inside the mouth of the giant beetle. It cannot charge the worm at the back as the retriever is in the way. It could charge the worm at the front. Whirlwind is a standard action to use, it cannot do it as part of a charge.

You could summon it, then it could use its standard to turn into a whirlwind and then move through the front worm, the yellow retiever and the back worm. It is however 32' high in whirlwind form so probably cannot fit inside the beetles mouth unless it squeezes.

question:

summon monster "it appears where you designate" - If I can point, can it go "down" on an angle past the retriever and get the worm? It has perfect flight 100'

if it can't whirlwind it tries to hit the thing.

Yes, you are in the acid fog on the ground. You put the elemental inside the back of the mouth of the beetle which is well out of range. Where did you plan to put it?

Sorry! The token? I meant to put it next to the worm

if I'm "stuck" in the fog after flying, I'll use my Shift (Su) ability to "clear" the fog"

GM Andrew:
sorry didn't mean to be difficult

OK, it can reach the front worm, that is fine. Do you want it to then try and whirlwind it? You will need to to use shift to clear the fog as flying up is half speed and the fog is half speed as well leaving you 15' of flight.

DC 21 relfex

There is indeed, there is one at the front of the mouth and Bauble has told you there is a second at the back of the creatures throat.

The massive elemental transforms itself into a towering whirlwind and tries to engluf the worm that walks spellcaster but it seems unaffected by the strong winds.

Just seen your edit as I started to update, its attack also has no effect on the worm so I am going to leave things as they are. The elemental cannot get into the back of the beetles throat because the retriever entirely blocks access.

Bauble teleports himself into the back of the monsters throat, with a sploosh he finds himself chest deep in disgusting and hideously acidic digestive juices. Chunks of partially digested demon meat float around you and the stench is appalling. The blue Retriever turns its attention to the tigers. Claws lash out and rip the injured one to pieces and its jaws and eyebeam decimate the second. Its huge head swings back towards the fog cloud where Vladek and Fendahl are concealed.

The green Retriever rises into the air and flies towards Rogar, ignoring the tiny dragon entirely. One of its giant claws tears a gash in his leg and then he gets badly singed by a blast of electricity.

spellcraft: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29 to understand the effect the worm is using. Probably projected image.

It would be arcana to identify a spell in place. Using your 8 gets you 19 which does not identify the effect

Valrar activates his armour and pushes forward through the acidic fog. Rogar, now able to see both worms, recognises that this is indeed likely to be a projected image with the true form of the Eternal Hive hiding at the back of the monstrous beetle's throat.

Vladek and Qadathra are up.

Rogar, arcana: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 42

Is the elemental still up?

The elemental is still there but it isnt up yet until your turn. Putting Vladek and Qadathra on delay as their actions are unlikely to affect the next creatures actions.

The giant beetle opens its mouth wide and simply engulfs the elemental, causing it significant damage. Then the retriever inside the beeetle unleashes on it. Claws and massive jaws tear into the poor creature but somehow it manages to avoid the lancing eye beams and survives.
