Ograk begins the ritual.
take 10 for 26 knowledge religion, I assume a few people might aid
Tessaviri Erisanthe

"This should be able to help us against the Reaver."
Tessa can auto-aid the Religion check (in addition to being able to read the book, I guess. I haven't said so before, but reading the rityal instructions takes 10 minutes, according to the spoiler earlier.
GM: since that amount of time is spell duration relevant, can we get an estimate for how long it has been since we started casting 10-minute spells at the edge of town?

about 2 and a half hours
Ograk, Tessaviri and the others are able to complete the ritual and the helmet is freed and rises slowly rises to the surface of the clear water.
The Party gains a +3 sacred bonus to AC and on all saving throws for 234 hours and something happens to the reaver "off camera"
Where to next? Prepare for the final battle? If you remember there was a pit trap in the "main area" of the hall just inside from the main doorway area. There's a muzzle and collar anchored by cables to the
ceiling of the Bastion’s nave. If you want to "reset" it I'll need a DD check?
Ograk
|
Ograk suggests,” We got it, lets head back to the entrance. If any of you can set the trap we can try that, otherwise lets open the expertly constructed barricade and face it’s wrath. “Ograk opens the top of his familar satchel to reveal Maka, who is ready for the coming fight.
I know we did all the talk ooc, but allow Ograk to attempt diplomacy
After they finish the final preparation Ograk hazards,”Its been two hours, maybe its getting a little dark outside... I appreciate your restraint and your gift good doctor . “Ograk recasts heightened awareness and places the alchemica substance in his nose . Keen senses

The "good doctor's" eyes are, for the moment, fixed on the apparatus hanging above them.
"Don't mention it," He mutters in reply to Ograk, only half-listening as he draws some tools and begins tinkering....
Disable Device, heroism: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37 [oox]plus a further +2 if whatever gave me that extra +2 to my Perception bonus is both still in effect and applicable to Disable Device - I forget, did anyone else give me a skill check bonus somehow?[/ooc]

Sounds like we have everything well in order? If so, I’d say we prep for the reaver fight
”Excellent work, everyone. I am always glad to see strong teamwork amongst comrades-in-arms.”

Tessaviri nods and casts some spells in preparation. "It's time we faced this creature."
Tessaviri Spell Preparations:
Tessaviri renews her castings of Barkskin on Sayna and Karogo.
She creates two Named Bullet arrows. The correct type is magical beast, I believe?
She casts Animal Growth on Karogo, increasing his size to huge. This assumes that we're fighting in the main hall.
She casts Blend on herself.
Karogo
Init +2; 10' reach
AC 37, touch 14, flat-footed 34, CMD 37 (+2 dex, +1 dodge, +7 armor, +16 natural armor, -2 size +3 sacred)
Hit Points 121 (85 without Bear focus) (+40 animal, +81 constitution)
Fort +16, Ref +9, Will +5 (+4 vs enchantments)
Damage Reduction 5/evil, resist acid 10, cold 10, electricity 10, evasion, SR 14
Melee +20/+15 bite (2d6+21 and +24 trip/20/x2) +2d6 damage to evil creatures
Special Abilities Smite Evil 1/day (+9 damage until target dies or Karogo rests)
Str 36, Dex 14, Con 28, Int 3, Wis 12, Cha 6
Tessaviri gives the Thorn Body extract to Karogo, casts Divine Favor on him, and then Divine Favor on herself.

For tactics: I'm not worried about whether we want to fight outside or in the main hall. I guess the only critical difference would be whether we wanted to try to make use of the orc traps.
Tessa ran out of spells, but if anyone has some left over, we should probably help out the Sarenite orc some if they're helping with the fight.
Broadly speaking, I'd suggest we try to use a now-huge Karogo as a focus target/bait for the Reaver. He should be quite durable.
Ograk

Ograk looks up,” It’d be a shame to not use this trap that we already set up...”
Regarding the NPC, I suspect he is a non-combatant by scenario design. It is very rare to add NPC allies because it just complicates the GMs job

The party realizes that he doesn't really want to fight but will heal the party if needed
did you want to fight outside or inside?
Ograk
|
I already voted in character to fight inside to use the trap. If anyone has a strong preference lets do that, I don't care that much
Narayan Singh
|
Inside's good for me too. Narayan will re-shield, Magic Weapon, Heightened Awareness, and pop his enlarge tattoo
Sayna Elantho
|
Inside is good with me! Sayna will recast heightened awareness and use her enlarge person spell like ability on herself
Ograk

Ograk suggests a plan,” I assume the strong among us in the front as we open the door, and us magical folk behind them? Perhaps the good doctor can rig up a mechanical device that delays the failure of the barrier for a few moments so none of us are adjacent to it when it fails?
I assume with his disable device that’d be trivial?
Ograk
|
I nominally put us in some sort of formation assuming we’re opening thr front entrance. Can you mark the trap on the map? I assume we’d position ourselves relative to that so it can go off? Edit: someone else is rearranging us, which is fine by me, just no longer claiming credit for it :)
GM Qstor
|
I nominally put us in some sort of formation assuming we’re opening thr front entrance. Can you mark the trap on the map?
It's ten feet "out" from the doors. And twenty feet from the first pillar. And it's 15x15 feet in diameter. I marked the area with 2 lines. I tried to move the group too cause you had them placed right over the pit trap
Ograk
|
I tried to mark it a little more clearly based on that and position us just behind, hopefully that works?
Ograk
|
my thought was between the disable device check and Sayna’s open/close cantrip we could get the doors to open with us all starting back here. Will that work?

there's 2 sets of doors? Are you opening the 2nd set and using open/close on the set "closest" to the outside?
Sayna Elantho

Sure? I don't see why it's a big deal. Let's get this show on the road!
Tessaviri Erisanthe
|
Let's do it!
Ograk
|
Been waiting for this with Imbue with Hex on my spirit animal since we kicked off. Made a plan to fight this reaver back then!
Ograk tells his spirit animal" Its time Maka!" The scorpion gives the reaver an evil eye, as it does so, the magic of the hex flows from the tiny scorpion back to Ograk.
DC 15 will save, if it makes it or fails it has -4 to all saving throws
Immediately after the dance, Maka wiggles its stinging tail, chanting and extending the evil eye, once again the magic of he hex flows back to Ograk. Immediately after this, Maka 5' steps from Ograks shoulder back into his familiar satchel, having done all that he possibly can.
the -4 to saves will now last either 4 rounds or 2 rounds, depending on if it succeded for failed its will save
Ograk closes the lid of the satchel and pats it saying " Good job litle guy, my turn." Ograk uses misfortune on the beast. He then 5' steps away from the trap they set.
DC 24 will save, and it has a -4 penalty. If it fails, it now rolls twice on all d20 rolls and takes the lower for 2 rounds. Ograk doesn't have a move action himself to chant since he closed the satchel, but it lasts for 2 rounds. If it succeds nothing further happens to it.

Tessaviri moves behind Narayan and casts Divine Favor on Karogo.
Casting Defensively if threatened: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
vs Karogo Spell Resistance DC 14: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Tessaviri should be in stealth due to her Blend. Casting might somewhat ruin the stealth, but I'll roll anyway. She uses an Animal Focus for Stealth and Constitution.
Blend Stealth: 1d20 + 18 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 18 + 4 + 6 = 41
Karogo howls as the beast enters the room and bites at the fearsome creature. Applied the Divine Favor since both of those checks would pass. Karogo uses his Smite Evil on the Reaver.
Primary Bite: 1d20 + 20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 20 + 3 = 28
Primary Bite Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 21 + 3 = 31
Primary Bite Damage Addition vs Evil: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 2) + 9 = 15
Primary Bite Trip: 1d20 + 24 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 24 + 3 = 28
Iterative Bite: 1d20 + 20 - 5 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 20 - 5 + 3 = 21 - natural 1 boo
Iterative Bite Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2) + 21 + 3 = 30
Iterative Bite Damage Addition vs Evil: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 1) + 9 = 16
Iterative Bite Trip: 1d20 + 24 - 5 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 24 - 5 + 3 = 29
Sayna Elantho

I adjusted Sayna's size on the map as I mentioned earlier she would be starting this fight enlarged from her SLA
Sayna begins singing. Inspire courage as a standard action, +2 attack and damage and +1 vs fear
”Let’s get down to business
To defeat our foes
Did they send me cowards
When I asked for knights!
You’re the saddest bunch I’ve ever met
But you can bet before we’re through
Madame, I’ll make a woman out of you.”
She then enters into her battle stance. Swift action to enter sisterhood style. This does three things atm
1. She and anyone adjacent to her no longer provide soft cover against her allies’ attacks
2. As part of entering her style, she will pass on shield wall to up to two of her allies that have shields
3. Every ally within 20 feet of Sayna gets a +1 untyped bonus to reflex and will saves
Tessaviri Erisanthe

Oops. I added the Stealth roll in after I put up Karogo's attacks and it changed the result. The end effect is probably still the same, but the natural one I booed is gone.
Just to confirm: Karogo's anti-evil damage didn't happen?

Narayan was also pre-embiggened, so I've adjusted him as well

Did it bite 3 times or bite, claw, claw? Looking at its picture it appears to have claws, assuming that it does I’ll post an action and an alternate. Also, did it not have to roll twice on attacks because of something special?.
The wounds begin to close or Karogo heal 5, as they do Ograk looks at the beast.
Ograk then chants extending his misfortune hex.

Stepping back slightly from the fray, Tessaviri draws her Named Bullet blessed arrows and takes aim at the Reaver. "For Victory! For the Heart!" she cries, invoking Iomedae's memory as she fires.
Tessaviri doesn't have anything special to deal with the cover that her allies are granting the Reaver. Her Named Bullet arrows should be targeting touch AC though.

@Tessaviri there's no cover because of Sayna's fighting stance, so no cover penalty. Also you have a +2 bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls from her song
Sayna continues her song Free action to keep singing, so still a +2 bonus to damage for everyone.
"Tranquil as a forest
But a fire within.

I also re-sized Karogo on the map. He's huge size right now. Also, he has DR 5/evil, so unless the Reaver's attacks are evil-aligned he should have had 19 damage (14 after Ograk's healing).

Sorry! I totally forgot that it failed its Will Saves vs the hex. The attack probably wouldn't have hit Kargo. It's moot anyways cause its dead and can't act anymore. It doesn't have regeneration. This fight was pretty easy for you guys.

Karogo's bite and Tessaviri's arrows tear into the creature. Narayan punches the beast once to the head, as it falls.
Combat Over!
It remains lifeless for a few moments.
Uirch the orc warpriest of the Dawnflower peers around the coroner. He holds his scimitar at the ready.
"Is the beast dead?"

Ograk looks at it,” It appears to have gone to the boneyard. Its for the best.”
earlier you said we explored the entire temple, so I think we’ve done everything we set out to do. If there is anything we didn’t explore earlier we’d do so now before we leave, since there is less of a threat now. Combats with preparation at this tier are exceptionally hard to balance, since what would challenge one group would wipe out another and may be a joke for a 3rd. It was mentioned that the rituals weakened it, so that also probably contributed. The trap also seemed very effective.
Sayna Elantho

Sayna laughs in triumph as the reaver falls. She flicks the blood off of her sword and sheathes it. "Well, that was a quick one." She swivels to the orc warpriest and gives him a cocky salute. "No more beasty. Thanks to Sarenrae for the help. Guess she's not a fan of rough beasts, eh?" She laughs at her own joke, a reference to Sarenrae's eternal struggle against Rovagug.
