I thought Laiashi's objection was clear. She would try to stop you from going in their rooms, at least at this stage. Can we not just go directly to Nicasor's room first?

GM Rinaldo |

So, let's get a clear agreement on what you are going to do. They do not want you rummaging through their rooms - or Nicasor's, for that matter. If you intend to do so anyway, there is a specific reaction they will have. If you decide not to, then I need to know where you are going now.

GM Rinaldo |

Also, my apologies for the long delays. Work has been insane, and in the evenings I've just been relaxing with my wife and totally forgetting to check in. It doesn't help that the days are all blurring together during the stay-at-home.

I vote we go to Nicasor's room, whether the fetchlings object or not. He could have a secret backdoor or something to get in there without them knowing. To me it seems a lot more likely that he's in there than in some random other bedroom.

GM Rinaldo |

As you start moving toward Nicasor's room, ignoring the objections of the fetchlings, one of them opens a side door and calls into it, "Hey, there's new people here talking about escaping, and they're headed toward Nicasor's room."
Two shae, one male and one female, are in the room, which appears to be some sort of library, with mismatched shelves bulging with books of various shapes and sizes.
The male picks up a falchion that was leaning against the wall and steps into the living area. The female hesitates moment before moving behind him.
The male calls out to you, "Ho there! Stop that immediately! What's going on here?"
I put Nino in the hallway leading to Nicasor's room, as he has been leading the way. Everyone else is a bit behind him. The fetchlings are not on the map, as they are clearly non-combatants, but there are several of them scattering away from you, into the lower left corner of the room.

GM Rinaldo |

Sorry about the slow pace. I'm liking the conversation you are having with Atamin and want to let it play out. Sadly, I've been nonstop at work every day until close to the end of the day, so I haven't been able to post as frequently as I used to.

GM Rinaldo |

This is another case where the CR of the encounter seems high for the module level. That said, I rolled 18+ on three out of four attacks on Nino, which is not likely to happen again.
However, you did succeed in making Atamin non-hostile to you, so at least you don't also have to fight him ... :-| (And before you ask, he's not going to help you kill his brother, but he's not going to stop you from doing it, either.)

If Laiashi wants to step into Ushi's square after her next turn, he will ready to step into hers and heal Nino. I only worry Patros might go down before I can get Nino awake.

GM Rinaldo |

I'll be straight up with you guys ... with Nino down, this is going very quickly to a TPK. Nicasor is very hard to hit, and you're not doing nearly as much damage to him as he is doing to you.
Based on the way Nicasor is written in the module, I am offering you a way to get out without having to spend prestige on Raise Dead.
Also, remember, there are no success conditions for prestige in a module like there are in a PFS scenario. You would not lose any rewards other than Nicasor's gear.
I'm not going to tell you how to play your characters, but this might be a time to accept a partial loss.

Ushi would hate to abandon a potential trade contact, but all he can do is talk and heal at this point. As the one with enough prestige to raise, I leave the decision to those who don't.

Yikes. And here I was hoping his offer meant he was weakening. Much as I don't want to leave the Baron, I really don't want a TPK. So I guess we should cut and run.

GM Rinaldo |

Well, I'm sorry that things ended how they did, but the dice really were against you. Nino going down in round one left you with much reduced power output, Laiashi and Patros couldn't catch a break. Nicasor is rough even without bad dice luck, and his "amorphous" trait took out a noticeable portion of Laiashi's and Patros' damage even when they could hit through the blur effect.
I realize this took far longer than any of you expected; I honestly can't imagine how the original GM thought he was going to do this in the space of a game day, especially with the introduction he was doing that wasn't in the module.
I hope that despite these issues, you got some enjoyment out of the module. It's a fascinating story, though one I probably will not attempt to do in PbP again. :-)
I will try to get your chronicles written up this evening.

Since I don't have guidance on how the money total is determined for the chronicle, I am not deducting any cash from the rewards. I am crossing off the items that were on the shae, since you did not defeat them. The primary way this will affect you is in the two partially charged wands you won't be able to buy.
Please let me know once you have the chronicle and have checked it to make sure it looks good. Once I hear from everyone I'll archive the campaign.
