Linzi of the Velvet Voice
|
Linzi Picks up the items and starts inventorying them and placing them in appropriate sacks to be held.
She also strums her guitar and a light appears on a coin, which she hands off to the beefy and burly.
You can look down the halls, I'll do some counting.
in a singsong voice
One for you. One for me. Two for you. One, Two for me.
Three for you. One, Two, Three for me.
If she were counting gold that way, it'd make splitting up the party treasure highly unequal.
Faerin Cordova
Ugh, that was a waste of a spell
Replenishing the light spell on her staff, Faerin moves down the hall a bit, checking the area the skeletons came from.
Ekundayo 'Ekun' Vursi
"The kobolds and Mites must not travel across this area much?" Ekun looks confused why they were led this direction. Even more so on why they were listening to kobolds and mites of all things. And on top of it trapped below ground with them on either side.
Faerin Cordova
"If they were part of their original gear, those skeletons could be remnants of some bygone exploration." Faerin comments over her shoulder.
Linzi of the Velvet Voice
|
Hmmm.. let me think, maybe I've heard of a story of a recent expedition?
In the meantime, anyone need a doo-dad or a doo-hickey?
Linzi holds up sword and armor pieces.
She then thinks about a bunch of well armored people and a story that might fit.
@ Gm- any Legend Lore type roll or help that a bard can lend to this to get some background? maybe the AP has some backdrop pre-history Linzi's heard of?
Shayn Veilsong
Shayn approached and pronounced arcane words, as her eyes went to an even deeper shade of blue and started swiftly smoking.
Detect magic on everything. Turning her head around to wide the cone if needed.
Shayn Veilsong
Shayn moves in her usual pace towards the back of the party. As they get to the large, partially collapsed room, she starts looking around.

You know Faerin, that magic youy did for the combat was impressive. Your stick had special powers . How'd you do that? it looked special.
Linzi tries checking out the pressure plates to see how they work.
What skill role would be appropriate? Survival? Traps?

This whole region seems to be dominated by bad or at least cruel leaders. I sure hope it doesn't mean that trying to be a good king is impossible in these Riverlands.
Have any of you had any thoughts on how you're gonna run this land? Or at least get some of these cloud-coo-coo land chiefs like the Kobold or Mite leaders to fall in line?
She is interested in their reply, as she works to figure out the trick to this pressure plate and wall switch combination.
Linzi of the Velvet Voice
|
Okay, so I want to stand on this left pressure plate. Why? you ask? Because I'm left handed. I even strum my string instrument goofy footed.
So, one of you who are right handed -- stand on another plate. Lastly, The Executioner can push that switch and make it click.
Boy, o' boy do I hope I didn't just put us all on fire.
and on the count of three, she moves people around to make this happen - for weal or woe.
Ekundayo 'Ekun' Vursi
"I don't plan on running any kingdom, never have." Ekun hadn't even thought of that option. "I have other motives I need to take care of." He grips his blade and bow as he watches while Linzi works the pressure plates. "I need to find those trolls. They killed my wife and children. And I don't plan on coming back from it."
Pyros Aldori
"I'll take the other plate. As for running a realm, I would look to the way that the Aldori Swordpact ruled old Rostland, before the coming of the dragons. Things went perfectly well for centuries, until Choral burned it all to ash."
Faerin Cordova

"It's primal magic, calling upon the wood's true nature and strength." Faerin replies.
Moving to the switch, she uses the butt of her staff to press it until she hears the click, unconsciously holding her breath as she does.
Faerin Cordova
Yeah if it's longer than a line or two, I throw it in Word then copy/paste in case that happens I can get it back
Shayn Veilsong
I noticed these large posts sometimes appear as if you were just previewing even if you click submit... I don't know why! Like Faerin, I got in the costume of writing in notepad before posting here, and I keep refreshing the page until I actually see the post in the thread :/

With a person standing on each pressure plate, when Ekun presses the brick, there is a groan of long disused mechanisms moving and a large section of the North wall slides into the floor. A decent sized room is revealed with several sarcophagi and elaborately carved balustrades. You also hear a whispery moaning sound as three figures approach from the darkness. These three skeletons are more wearing better gear than the the previous ones; one wears full plate armor and carries a tower shield, the other wears an ornate breastplate and wields a slightly glowing greatsword, and the last wears a still shining coat of chainmail with a steel shield and longsword.
Pyros: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Harrim: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Faerin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Ekun: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Shayn: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Linzi: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
skeletons: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Pyros, Faerin, Shayn, and Ekun can act. Then the skeletons, then Linzi and Harrim. Faerin you have 5 rounds left on your Shillelagh spell.
Shayn Veilsong
Shayn keeps her position towards the back, but looks fiercely at the skeleton in breastplate with the greatsword. Likely the most damaging weapon aroud..., she thought, as her eyes cursed him.
Misfortune, Will DC 16
Ekundayo 'Ekun' Vursi
Ekun moves to block the entryway with his imposing presence. He slashes his sword across the gap to hit as any as he can, starting with the rattling sack of bones held together by the plate armor.
+1 Keen Longsword; PA; 2 handed: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 1 = 27

Turning to face the new threat, Faerin twirls her staff overhead bringing it down at an angle as she tries to find an opening against the chainmail-wearing skeleton.
Shillelagh: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Magic/Bludgeoning: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 2 = 8

Pyros glances around for a weapon that will be more effective, then shrugs and dashes forward to attack the greatsword wielder.
Attack, Charge: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 2 = 21
Damage, Magical, P/S: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Charging, so AC 16 for this turn

Both Pyros and Ekun land telling blows on their targets, but Faerin's attack is deflected by her target's shield. Pyros and Ekun feel like their attacks did less damage than they should have.As each skeleton is facing an opponent, they each attack those that attacked them.
att v Ekun: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
att v Pyros: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
att v Faerin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Only Ekun is hit.

Harrim (I assume after Linzi begins singing?) moves up to help Faerin.
att: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Harrim also hits.
damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
OK, Linzi is up, then everyone but Harrim again.

Linzi starts playing her song. Getting her allies pumped up to fight these skeletons.
The day that I was born, the Clerics all gathered 'round.
They stared in wide wonder, as the joy they had found.
The head Priest walked up, said Leave this one alone.
He could tell right away, that I was bad to the bone!
Bad to the Bone!
Inspire Courage +1 to hit and +1 to damage

Deflected off the enemy's shield with such force, Faerin all but loses her grip on her staff, fumbling her next attack in the act of recovering it.
Shillelagh: 1d1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
Bludgeoning: 2d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5) + 2 + 1 = 10

Ekundayo 'Ekun' Vursi
Ekun ignores the small nick from the attack as he comes back with twice the strength trying to drop it in one stroke.

Faerin's ill-luck with her empowered staff continues, posing a minimal threat to the undead.
