Combat over.
At this point in time, Eliza carefully collects a small sample of the runes.
"Alright. I have what I need from this area. We should move on..."
Upon stepping through the portal...
The seemingly natural pathway of this stretch of the maze is suddenly filled with gleaming, razor-edged objects. Each construct appears as a floating musical note, scribed from a minstrel’s playbook and etched upon the very air.
"Those look dangerous, but if you could stabilise one of them for me, it would be a good sample..."
Alright, there are *five* 'unstable notes' blocking the path here. Each requires an Acrobatics check to gently move it out of the way, or a Performance check to 'stabilise' it.
Good luck!

@Thorax: It is *not* a crit-fail :-)
Thorax deftly moves the first two notes out of the way, but the third one vibrates when he touches it, and explodes for 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10 damage. After that, he manages to move the final two notes out of the way without any trouble.
Eliza nods in approval, and harvests one of the notes.
"Well done!"
Moving on down the path...
Masses of green crystallized sap form archways and honeycombs around a portal that has clearly been repaired and possibly augmented. Patterns of rigid luminous light mark the earth of the maze, frame various topiaries, and intersect around the base of each plant. Hovering spherical creatures survey the lengths of nearby topiary walls. At the center of the aperture hovers a living cloud made of shimmering runes and light.
At your approach, the cloud floats over to you, and assumes the form of a golden-skinned elf, who bows.

Moving through the next Portal...
Sundered topiary beasts and tumorous growths of the maze’s vegetation are torn free from the walls and floors, fed into a swirling nothingness. You appear on a small 'island', fringed by small twisted plants. The island itself is surrounded by eight small satellites, floating over the vast void.
Eliza looks up in alarm.
“Sorry my friends! It looks like this area has been overtaken by the forces of chaos made manifest. It looks like our route forward is the same as our route back. We’ll need to use those seedlings growing about to reconnect the broken shards of stone and change the destination of this portal we’re standing on! Quickly!”
As she says that, swirling storms of chaos start birthing knots of writhing winged snakes...

The plants are full of vital life energy. A PC who Interacts with the plants to apply a healing potion or an elixir of life (like the three you found earlier), or who succeeds at a DC 20 Medicine check to Treat Wounds, can revitalize a plant, causing them to instantly grow into sturdy bridges of vine and bark that connect the broken islands to the main platform.

Bair pulls out an Elixir, moves over, and dumps it on one of the plants, causing it to grow.
Adalan moves forward, and hurriedly coaxes another two vines into hyper-growth.
Deshacerla hurriedly moves up, and proves that she has quite the green thumb, coaxing the vine to grown with a speed hithertofore unseen!
Thorax then coaxes the final plant to grow, latching onto the final broken 'satellite island'.
As it does so, the rune beneath your feet activates, bathing you all in golden light; there is a feeling of falling, and then suddenly...
An idyllic meadow materializes, its borders marked by the easily identified bushes and topiaries of the Maze of the Open Road. The area seems free of planar intrusions or magical distortions, without a single living thing in sight.
A few random objects were dumped through the portal with you, including a tarnished gold ring, a bottle of aged brandy, a masterwork pesh pipe, and a platinum sculpture of a howler monkey. Which are basically there to continue to make up the treasure bundles ;-)
Eliza nods.
"This looks like an ideal place to take a quick break, if you need it..."
Not that I think you really need a 10 minute rest ;-)
Whilst you are relaxing, you make a sobering discovery: the corpse of a halfling, who looks a *lot* like 'Rindle' from earlier.
The halfling appears to have stabbed in the back and tucked under the hedges, along with the body of a squirrel that can only be the real Mr. Chitters.
Eliza sighs.
"There is a magical satchel at my belt. Please retrieve it, and put their bodies inside. We do *not* leave our own behind!"
Luke_Parry

Eliza nods her thanks to Dran'Thor, then motions for you all to continue on your way.
A little further on...
A particularly thick section of the maze’s hedges has grown over massive white structures. What may have been the spires of an ancient temple are now so choked with wild plants they are inaccessible. Even stranger, mounding dunes of red sand are gathered in the open paths between the living walls of the maze.
Another portal stands in one of the white stone walls, but this one is choked with debris, which several four-armed humanoids, wrapped head-to-foot in scarves and other garments, are toiling to clear.
When they see you, they react with alarm.
"What!?"
"It's the Pathfinders the halfling warned us about!"
"Gods! We will never get home! They will murder us all!"
"Send in the dogs! It might give us a chance..."

@Thorax - there is definitely an option?
You take a –2 circumstance penalty to the attack roll when you make a nonlethal attack using a weapon that doesn’t have the nonlethal trait.
Apart from that, there are *some* spells (which Adalan *has* been trying to use, and I thank him for at least trying!). The system is still 'new' - there aren't a lot of options, period, at least for the moment; I mean, if you restricted yourself to the PF1 CRB, you would have had similarly limited options...

Yeah. I guess I meant options for a Rogue (or Dex-based character) to deal non-lethal without penalty. Lots of Str-based options, like the sap, but the only finesse non-lethal weapon currently is the whip. But Thorax already takes a –2 penalty to attack and damage using martial weapons, and a whip has lower damage dice.
Hampered even more for Rogues since you can't get Sneak Attack or Dex-to-damage with Unarmed Strikes.
Patiently waiting for the Poi to be made Society legal, and then Thorax can just shift his Dogslicer back and forth between that.

The angry goblinoid slashes at both, then adds a single stab at the one in front of him, trying to poke any remaining images out of existence.
