I was reading back to see if I could find the rules because I was wondering when this contests would end. We've got 2 minutes..which I think is 12 rounds? How many rounds have passed since we started? I think we could be getting close to that.

And I noticed this: In your base you have your flag and a locked crate.

Did we ever open the crate to find out what's inside it?

Fire Starters Loot

A round is 6 seconds (10/minute) so this challenge will end after 20 rounds. We're in round 11 right now; I've been keeping track of when a new round starts in the initiative order.

This scenario just has the potential to be really long on the combat side, with the race being up to 15 rounds, capture the flag up to 20, and the cooking one not being short either. Even the skeletons are guaranteed to take 5 rounds. Given the lag that just happens in PbP, it's a really long scenario.

I looked back and don't see that anybody attempted to open the locked crate. If I missed it, please let me know the post #.

I remembered it being something with a 6. I just figured it was 6 rounds to a minute, not a round being 6 seconds...which makes more sense ;)

I honestly didn't read in any of the posts about a locked crate (probably because I just missed it). If it is in our 'beginning room with the flag' I guess I would have attempted it.

Fire Starters Loot

Jagrur if you want to make an Engineering check for your last turn (or upcoming turn), I'm fine with that being the attempt to open it. It's not like it's moved since you all entered the room.

Well, if you would let go of the knife while floating towards the wall, the knife would fly next to you and stop on the same wall ;) Just saying. Then you throw the grenade and pick up the knife.

After looking at some options for 0-g movement, there are some cool options. You can move and hit someone making him do DC20 acrobatics check or become off-kilter (the same for you, but Ysoki gets fewer penalties). Or when being next to someone you can push from him which means that you depart in opposite directions. Then the opponent first needs to stop (assuming that there is anything to let him do that: wall, doors, table etc.) and then chase you. But I would imagine that it cause AOO.

I was planning to do the Ysoki cannonball into Vesk to allow Oz to escape, but he handled it himself.

@Gm I need to ask, but how much spells per day has this android? I counted that it was his 5th spell (2 heals and 3 Mind Thrust). On level 2 you get 3 spells per day, on level 3 you get 4th spell of level 1.

Unless NPC runs on its own rules.

Croaker, I can't remember the scenario that well, but I will say this....NPC's now run on their own rules (see Solarians...they can be at full attunement in 1 or 2 rounds). It really doesn't seem 100% fair, but in truth it seems to balance it out a little in the whole. Especially when you realize they don't have Stamina, and rarely Resolve. Though I do think it gets slightly more broken in favor of the NPC as you get up in tiers (at least Dead Suns did...though it was the first AP and things were being written for the AP before everybody got the official rules).

Also, they might have an insane Wisdom modifier...since you do get an extra spell per day with high stat modifier for Mystics (wisdom), or Technomancer (Int).

I haven't counted spells, but I think one the heals was a channel. I think the first heal was at a distance?

Fire Starters Loot

The android has cast 3 1st level spells (all mind thrusts) and used 2 healing channels (each costing one RP). I'm definitely keeping track of their resources used; you can see it next to their initiative in the tracking of who's going next in initiative order!

Admittedly having NPCs that only have HP makes a healing mystic much more effective, but the number of spells cast and channels used should be within level expectations.

Fire Starters Loot

Oh, I really should've checked the slides before posting. Croaker, you've cannonballed yourself at the lashunta, not the android, who is to the south in the hallway 20 feet from both the vesk and the pahtra.

Also, on the attack of opportunity, the android is using the mystic healing channel, which is listed as a supernatural ability (su). Because only three things in Starfinder provoke an attack of opportunity (moving out of a threatened square without taking a guarded step, making a ranged attack in a threatened square, and casting a spell or spell-like ability in a threatened square) using a supernatural ability like healing channel (which is different from using a spell-like ability) would not provoke.

So, going forward, would you like to have launched yourself at the lashunta or at the android? You can have successfully knocked either of them off target (and righted yourself - I missed that), but the android will still be using the healing channel ability while off target, which does not provoke an attack of opportunity.

Crapnuggets! I was certain that that icon in the corner where I launched myself was the Android and not Lashunta! I crap talked that avatar already!

In that case, let me stick to lashunta. No attack of opportunity then.

In turn, that means Oz would have tried to shoot the android (narrow hallway shooting past Croaker = cover in addition to my already horrible e-dice lol).

^ that. Plus, in my defense, it was 1:30am and I'd been awake for ~22 hours at that point... In any event, picking up the knife would have taken a move action which he used to try and stabilize his off-kilter-ness... even at the cost of a -3 to the attack roll.

@GM I don't think you included the damage from this post:

Farol, Oz was indeed made as a sort of "anti-Zo!" character. This is pretty much the first time I've really played him (mostly GM credits previously), so I think this scenario helped him find his voice (...quiet, sarcastic, fatalistic, grumbling, and all together pessimistic, lol).

Now that I have finished prepping to run this scenario tomorrow night at my FLGS, I have just put the final touches on my 33-song soundtrack for the scenario as well, largely inspired by how our game played out on here.

...I am horribly cheesy, and if I don't have the table giggling madly before the obstacle course, they either hate fun or I'm doing something wrong.

Thank you all for being a great group to play with! :)

Even though this game has gone much longer than I originally anticipated, I've really enjoyed running the whole thing for all of you. I think this is my first scenario in probably 100 SFS scenarios ran or played in when I've had almost 50 rounds of combat played out during the scenario. 50!

You've all been great. Almost to the end!

I must say, that I liked this scenario a lot. The idea of a harmful reality show not so much ;), but the encounters were interesting and challenging.

I actually really like the last fight that we had. The idea of having a couple of rounds for taking your ground and then a whole lot of fighting was something else. Usually, I struggle to use all spells in one scenario while here I used almost all of them in one fight.

Overall I know and/or played with most of you before and it continues to be a great experience.

Jim - yet another amazing game. I think I played with you the most and it is always a highlight of my PBP experience. However, I felt sorry for you when no enemy tried to even get to our base. At least their halfling was as bored as you were ;)

Revvy - even that it happened by accident, I play with you quite frequently and I enjoy it. Good game

Canis - It is my 2nd game with you and first in which you are a player. And it was another good experience on my end. I like ¡Oz and how you play him.

uwilnvrkno - That my first game with you, yet I enjoyed it. I hope to play with you some more int he future.

AFlashInTime - well-run scenario! Slow clap to you! I enjoyed your descriptions and how you kept things moving forward. Even that it was way longer than any other game that I played I like it.

And if you wonder, Croaker will take down that Lashunta, Croaker is a famous 9 STR knife-fighter!

Since we are basically wrapping up, I have to second what Croaker said.

This scenario (which I mentioned that I ran at Pre-Gencon) is a tough one for a GM. It is a Combat Heavy one--though it has a lot of good fun RP that I honestly think was done BETTER PbP than I did IRL. Mainly because WE as player (and as GM's) have more time to think on what we want to say and do.

AFlash--I had a lot of fun. I hope that I didn't ruin any of the surprises. And I was absolutely fine being flag guard. I usually am IRL in paintball...but that is because As a tall guy you usually make a good target walking/sneaking.

Revvy...Enjoyed playing with you. Always do, either as you playing or GMing.

Canis my friend. Always fun. Especially in PbP when we call can have the 'time' to do conversations. IRL is fun, but time limits suck. You should tell AFlash about your soundtrack (maybe give him a list of the items). IT was a blast to hear it yesterday.

Uwilnvrkno. Had a fun time. Definitely should find another game together sometime.

Croaker. I hope that Zo! didn't put you off as much this time as the previous time you mentioned (I believe it was you...at least). Always fun to RP together...and at least this time we didn't have Ceiv as a third wheel! Okay, Ceiv was the MVP keeping me and you alive (poor body....).

Yes this has been pretty fun and very different from all the other scenarios I've played in. Thank you all for making this session a lively one. Sorry about my lack of weekend posting, most of my day was keeping my boys entertained and then by the evening i'm wiped out.

Hopefully I see you all in one game or another, PBP is def my only chance to get at organized play these days.

Thank you tons for GMing us through this! Having just run it myself yesterday, I can see that this one has so many moving parts for the GM to keep track of...especially when the party's dice go so, so cold!

Alas for that one boon we will miss out on...so fitting for Oz's incompetence on the obstacle course too, lol!

(and yes, I will happily share my tracklist with anyone who wants to hear the silly stuff I put together)

Dark Archive

I have the chronicle sheets all ready to go, except somehow in the past almost four months of posting on here with you I neglected to ever ask for downtime/day job rolls.

So, fitting for a scenario that's gone on so long, please roll a day job check, use your downtime in some other way, or confirm that you are forgoing a downtime check/activity.

Once that is done, I will be ready to upload Chronicles. Literally the last thing.

Thanks.

Alright folks, here we go:

Chronicles

Let me know if you have any trouble accessing.

Mine looks good. Too bad on the obstacle course...but that one is TOUGH. I think it is actually the hardest part for a GM to prepare for. And I honestly didn't think I would get Jagrur across....3 'move' actions for 2 characters isn't exactly the way to go in trying to get through all that in the time allocated.

All in all a fun game everybody. Look me up if you ever want to PbP with Jagrur (or basically any of my SFS characters...have a variety between level 1 and 9).

I was thinking of running the first Quest Into the unknown now that COM is out to give people a chance to try new characters options and/or see how spaceship combat get's altered by the new options (I think the new starship roles made it into society right?) So if people want to play it and keep the gang together, let me know and I'll set it up.

Edit: I think I should note it's only for lvl 1 characters and if I remember correctly no boons allowed - I think there's an exception for personal boons so you can play other races, but I'd have to check to be sure.

Dark Archive

Revvy, I would certainly enjoy playing!

Also, based on The Additional Resources it looks like the extra starship combat roles made it into society play.

Well if you want you can join for the first (and second?) of the 5th quests and then when you get back jump in for the last one (or 2?)? Depending on how fast we'll end up going.

The nice thing about the quests is that you can do part of them and you can either take partial credit on the chronicle or save it to finish the other parts later as long as you don't play any other games with that character.

I would be in then. Assuming that other players don't mind.
