Alright everyone welcome to the game. Please re-introduce yourselves and your character. If you have any final changes about your character you would like to make, now is the time to do it. :-)
Things to remember:
• Lord Neverember was removed as the Open Lord of Waterdeep about 5 years ago. Since then there have been rumors about his hidden treasure, but no one's found anything, and a lot of people have basically written it off as urban legend.
• You have been working together as a party for a little over a year now.
• You might want to consider a party name. It'll make it easier for people to find you, as your fame grows.
Talliree Yndercook |
So, Talliree is a small half-elf with a knack for sneakiness and deception. She's a boisterous sort with a habit of running her mouth and laughing while fighting once the need for stealth is gone.
As for how she meet the others, maybe she charmed her way in? :P
Mitchell Cloudkeep |
Mitchell is a striking and healthy Paladin of Waukeen...yes I said Paladin of Waukeen. A third son of a the noble Cloudkeeps of Amn, it is his holy duty to ensure that the rumored funds are properly dispersed. Please follow the rules, and everything will come out fine.
Ellena Garvaneel |
Hoi there! Ellena is built to be quite the face, and provide ranged support in combat via eldritch blasts. I plan on going Pact of the Tome later, to become more of a controller.
Mitchell, I am a true and tried charlatan, I hope that it won't be a problem if I slip a little lie every now and then. Will it?
For the party name, we may want to wait until something fun happens, as I'm coming short of ideas.
Tania Teg |
Hi Everyone! Thanks WR for the invite.
Tania is a reformed bandit looking for purpose. In the year you've known her, you've seen her take up the cause of the poorest while enjoying an extravagantly expensive red wine. She is a knot of contradictions.
She also looks a lot like Talliree... Separated at birth perhaps? ;) I'll see if I can find another avatar.
Talliree Yndercook |
"Aw, shut yer yap. All ya noble types like to flap yer gums without sayin' much. Me, a good ale, a good fight, and a purse full of gold an' I'll be happy!"
I see Tania's a half-elf. How old is she? Talliree's 17~18-ish. Maybe they are sisters or half-sisters. Perhaps their father is some elven bard that can't keep it in his trousers. Who knows? I'm up for it if you are.
So, perhaps Tania took Talliree under her wing? Maybe Ellena found out that the young girl with the sword wasn't as dense as she seemed and figured it'd be better to have Talliree stick around as a bodyguard. I don't think Mitchell'd have much luck getting Talliree to stick around, not unless he's willing pay her enough to put up with him.
One thing you'd probably note in the year you've known Talliree is her tendency to play things close to the chest and assume the worst about people. You'd have also noticed she has a pet mouse that she acts like its her conscious, at least you think it's an act.
wicked_raygun |
It's worth pointing out that you all have already adventured together a time or two. And you've likely bonded a little through shared danger.
So probably more playful eye-rolling than hostility to one another. But if you want to play your character as being on the outs with the others that's fine, too. It's not like this campaign is built to play characters against one another or anything. ;-)
Talliree Yndercook |
This is more like initial reactions that our characters would have had, I think. Once Talliree gets to see how the others operate, she'd probably lighten up on Mitchell.
Maybe.
Okay, she's definitely the kind of person that would push his buttons just to see what colors he turns if he's always that stuffy.
Tania Teg |
Funny, now we both changed avatar. The new one has grown on me.
Tania and Talliree are both young. I suggest Tania would have "recruited" Talliree when she was with the Crimson Breaker as part of her network.
Tania disappeared for a few months. When she returned, they crossed each other. Tania was different, changed, but so was Talliree. Both had freed themselves from their shackles, both were now free, and both decided to join efforts in tackling life.
How does that sound?
Hob Teabadger |
Hob is quite amiable and happy, not entirely suited to the adventuring life but always manages to contribute even if there's a few close calls along the way.
I suspect he'll like Talliree's antics until she starts laughing in combat... about that time he might give her a wide berth as he may find it a bit unsettling.
Mitchel, I think he'll respect the steadfastness that I'm getting the impression of from the character but might be worried about how he'll react when chaos inevitably reigns.
Elena... Hob is probably a little envious of her rather different source of magical abilities and maybe has considered similar options for a little bit but has decided to stay the course with his studies. He's likely still fascinated and trying to gauge as much as he can about her abilities.
Tania... if he knows of her past he'll probably try to help keep her on the straight and narrow, while earning some coin together.

Well, I changed because I noticed that Talliree has silver hair, not black, on DnD Beyond sheet. :P
I like that. I think that Tania would have known about Talliree's growing disillusionment with the gang. Maybe they helped each other out when their paths crossed once since it was a lot easier to get what they needed together than to try for it alone. We could just make up the details as we go along.

Great!

Doing a quick look at your D&D Beyond profiles, and I've found the following so far regarding your equipment:
• Ellena has winged boots. That's a perfectly acceptable item.
• Hob is missing equipment and uncommon item on D&D Beyond page.
• Mitchel is missing uncommon item.
• Talliree has a cloak of Elvenkind. Perfectly fine.
• Tania is missing her uncommon item.
If anyone here is unsure about what uncommon items to get, feel free to ask for recommendations. Probably the simplest uncommon item to get is a +1 weapon.
wicked_raygun |
Well, here is a quick and dirty list of some uncommon items that could benefit a rogue:
• bag of holding
• boots of elvenkind
• gloves of missile snaring
• gloves of thievery
• googles of night
• hat of disguise
• javelin of lightning
• medallion of thoughts
• piwafi / cloak of elvenkind
• ring of jumping
Ellena Garvaneel |
Sorry for being a little absent, I was travelling for a couple of days.
The way I see Ellena, she is not made for combat. She's a fast- and sweet-talker, but she only found herself in a spot of real trouble so far. So, when the blades start flashing, she'll use those winged boots to get well away from the thick and thin, before liberally using eldritch blast.
Therefore, she'd probably be a bit creeped out by Talliree, who's quite bred for war. I guess she would consider her and Tanla to be a bit unreliable when disguises and acts are put on.
Of all of the group I guess she'd be most at ease with Hob, possibly asking several questions to understand what exactly was written on the pact she signed with Lurue.
On an unrelated news, you all have fantastic ability scores, wow. I'm awed.
Talliree Yndercook |
Don't be too awed. I tend to have abysmal luck when it comes to rolls. :P
As for disguises, well. Talliree does have some hidden talents. She can be deceptive when the situation calls for it, and since she's young and her baggy clothing does a good job of hiding her muscles, she can pull off a pretty good scared girl act if she has a chance to ditch the weaponry. Maybe she did it once to throw off the guards after a job went south on us?

Gloves of Thievery it is. Thanks for the help!
(If you think that's unbalancing things too much, I'm happy to pick something else.)
Mitchell Cloudkeep |
Mitchell is a bit put off by the personal habits of several of his new crew, but he can't deny the results. He has judged them all and found them each lacking in certain ways, but he has likewise judged himself and found fault as well.
He pretty much can overlook any acts not deemed "Evil", as long as they move him forward towards accomplishing his goal. He certainly doesn't consider anyone else his friend, but tools to help accomplish this objective.
Ellena Garvaneel |
Sorry if this comes off a bit abrasive, Talliree, but I didn't much appreciate you hijacking me as I was talking to an NPC. You came in and immediately took over the conversation, called me an ass and shut down my agency as a face, as a whole I found it a very unpleasant beginning.
AdamWarnock |
Sorry, that wasn't my intent. Please don't construe anything I write in character as an attack or my feelings out of character. I also didn't mean to hijack the conversation, or at least in the way it seems to have happened. I was more after some banter from Ellena than anything else.
And please, if anyone has an issue with what I'm doing, PM me and discuss it there. I'd rather not spoil the fun for everyone by airing out grievances in the open like this.
Hob Teabadger |
So we've got a troll, a pit and I've got the grease spell... that's a deep pit.
@Wicked Raygun if I cast grease on the area the troll is in would it be reasonable to think it might give someone (say Yagra or Mitchel for example!) advantage on trying to push the troll back into the pit?
Ellena Garvaneel |
I think the stirges are up, unless I knocked them all down, in which case it's Yagra.
Ellena Garvaneel |
If I understood the action economy correctly, I should be able to interact with objects to take oil and candle in tandem with movement to get to the troll, then use an action to pour the oil and drop the candle. Am I correct?
wicked_raygun |
Everything okay? Seems like you're a bit swamped.
Not gonna lie, been a rough few weeks. Half my family got sick, with two even going to the emergency room, and one spending a couple weeks hospitalized. It's been a thing.
And at work I am being offered more responsibility, without any of the hassle of being paid more money. Pretty sweet deal over all.
Bright side is everything is approaching a normal state very soon. Should start settling in about next week or so.
