Could you please mark the tiles with the trap on the map? That would help with the planned movement. I can happily make a jump check to hop over, assuming it isn't a large block.
Jump: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21

Marnarius – PFS Pregen |

Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
I thought the wooden barrier was the entrance to the room and Marnarius and Shohirajj were already inside. (Just underneath that little walkway.) If we were still in the hallway, then Marnarius could have either not moved or also done some sort of acrobatics check to avoid the trap. Whichever you prefer.

GM Netherpongo |

I put a big square on it, but wasn't able to figure out how to make that area transparent.

322 - Tusk’s Experiment |

Are the rest of us up?

![]() |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
He's cast Slow. Give me a moment
I'm going to change my action given the Slow, if that's ok.
Rataji moves up into the doorway and uses his bonded object to cast Haste on the party, which will counteract the Slow on anyone who failed the will save, or act as Haste normally does if they made it. I believe from just in front of Zurnzal, he can target the whole party.

![]() |

Sorry I totally missed that need for a will save.
Will Save, DC?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
"I feel... so... slow... Oh, better now."

![]() |

Joliryn, I mean Janira, if you would like to cast a buff spell this round, I can Telekinetic Charge you into the room next round.

322 - Tusk’s Experiment |

The unnamed elf shakes her finger at the real Aram Zey.
"Naughty, naughty, wizard. I thought Pathfinders were supposed to be nice, but you are too quick to attack to really be nice. Still," she muses, "you're the most interesting obstacle the Professor has thrown in my way in a long while. I wonder just how much of an obstacle you really are."
322 considers for a moment, then casts Dispel Magic, targeting Aram Zey.
Caster level check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Joliryn - Hawthwile |

Spellcraft, Heroism: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 2 = 19
Will, Heroism: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 19
”Oh Aram, you’re so sweet,” Joliryn giggles humorlessly as she casts a spell. Her small form grows stockier as she draws on the strength of the bear to endure whatever this Pathfinder might throw at them next.

Gazwyr the Green Dragon |

Gazwyr rumbles a warning. "Mere illusion! The true threat hides. Your clever tricks won't defeat us, wizard. Submit to your death!"
Gazwyr flies into the room, sniffing around for the location of the hidden danger.
Move action to fly into the room (hopefully above the trap) and then a readied action to use a breath weapon on a foe if I can do so without catching an ally in the line of fire.
Will save vs. Slow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

GM Netherpongo |

Marnarius: let's do an Acrobatics check to get around the trap.
Joliryn: I picked it up from your description, but please be explicit about what spells you are casting.
322's dispel attempt shatters off of Aram Zey harmlessly.
I don't see a round 2 turn for Shohiraj or Marnarius yet, just some saves & checks.
Marnarius but Gazwyr, Shohiraj & Joliryn did not. By my count, 322 & Shohiraj are 35' away from each other so they can't both be in the Haste. (Neither one has moved since Aram Zey's cast, so that isn't a surprise) So I believe that Rataji & Marnarius are hasted, but everyone else is normal speed. Let me know if it sounds like I missed something.
We still need turn actions from Marnarius & Shohiraj. Shohiraj said to bot them through Sunday. If someone wants to bot her in the meantime, that's great. If not, I'll do it when I take Aram Zey's turn.
Edit: I was botting Gazwyr just as they took their turn above me. I've erased what I did for Gazwyr's turn. So, now Gazwyr is Hasted too because their actual roll on Will vs Slow was better than mine. Sorry about any confusion.
Gazwyr, for the readied action, you don't see a foe in the square that your blindsense is telling you they are at. Location: right above Rataji's head on the balcony.

Marnarius – PFS Pregen |

Sorry, I was waiting to see what I needed to do about the trap.
Retroactive Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Seeing his arrows have no effect on 'Zey', and hearing Gazwyr talk about illusions, Marnarius moves a few feet further into the room and fires blindly in the direction Gazwyr was attacking.
Masterwork Composite Longbow, Studied Target, Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 2 + 1 = 20
P. Damage, Studied Target, Seething Hatred, PBS: 1d8 + 5 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 18
Move action: Move ten feet further into the room.
Standard action: Attack the square above Rataji's head with a 50% miss chance. I figured you should probably roll that, but if you want me to roll it in future let me know.

GM Netherpongo |

I'm fine with players rolling their miss chances. I'll do it here though.
Marnarius attempts to vault himself past the trapped squares, but he falters and his foot lands on a pressure plate. The suits of armor both level their crossbows at him and fire.
Trap 1 vs Marnarius: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 - I'm thinking your AC is 21 with the Haste up, so that hits?
Trap 2 vs Marnarius: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
The crossbow bolts land with an unexpected splut as tanglefoot goo spreads all over the impact point.
Assuming that the bolt hits, Marnarius is entangled as by a tanglefoot bag. Also, I don't think you've studied the actual Aram Zey so I don't know that studied would apply.
Bolt damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Marnarius attack vs square 1-50 misses: 1d100 ⇒ 75
The crossbows remain lowered with their bolts spent. It appears as though the trap won't fire again until someone resets it.

GM Netherpongo |

I'd prefer not to take Shohiraj's action for her, if someone else can step in. I'll do so anyway if no one has her go by tomorrow morning.

![]() |

Given the situation, seems reasonable to me that Shohirajj will pull out her potion of invisibility, drink it, and then take a 5-ft step toward the balcony.

GM Netherpongo |

I flaked out on this yesterday. Sorry. Some review in here as I'm repeating the results of the whole round.
Shohiraj moves further into the room and drinks her Potion of Invisibility, disappearing from sight.
Marnarius attempts to skirt the edge of the trap, but fails and is struck by a crossbow bolt that hits him with a gulping thud, sticking him to the floor. Marnarius is entangled tanglefoot bag style. I moved his miniature back to the location he was hit due to entangle. He's stuck to the floor. Marnarius shoots an arrow at the space that Gazwyr points out Aram Zey's presence, but the arrow clatters against a bookshelf, having missed its target.
Rataji makes use of his arcane bond spell to unhamper some of his allies and speed up the rest of them. "Using your trump card so early?" Aram Zey asks. "I don't know who taught you..."
322's dispel attempt shatters harmlessly against Aram Zey's magic while Joliryn enhances herself with fortitude magic.
Gazwyr flies into the room, shouting about the wizard's deceptive tactics as he blasts an area above the balcony with acid. Drips of the acrid material fall down across the entryway as the excess bleeds over the edge.
Aram Zey Reflex vs Dragon Breath: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Aram Zey Greater Thunderstomp vs Marnarius: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27
Aram Zey Greater Thunderstomp vs Joliryn: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36
Aram Zey Greater Thunderstomp vs 322: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
"That stings. Better take care of that," the image of Aram Zey hisses through clenched teeth, although he seems to have weathered the worst of the blast.
The wizard's image doesn't make any of the normal gestures of spellcasting, although you can hear the sound of casting from above you. "You'll never have the Sky Key, fools. You simply don't have it in you."
A wave of kinetic energy ripples across the ground coming from the illusion. Marnarius, Joliryn and 322 are all hit by a trip attempt vs their CMD with a result of 27. Without the visual cues, you aren't able to tell what the wizard is spellcasting. Your knowledge of spellcraft may give you a bit of additional insight, however.
Apply the trip attempt to yourselves, although I bet that gets everyone. Party turn!

![]() |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
I'm not sure what's happening here, but Gazwyr says that Zey is on the walkway above.
Rataji will move into the room, then will cast Telekinetic Charge, sending Joliryn up to the catwalk. I don't see anything in the spell's description to indicate I need to be next to the person I am moving, and Joliryn is within close range where she starts and on the catwalk. Please let me know if you disagree and I'll change to send her up on one of the sides rather than above the door.

Gazwyr the Green Dragon |

"Where are your friends now, Pathfinder? You are abandoned and alone! And the treasures gleaned from a lifetime of 'service to lore' shall fall to the Aspis!"
Gazwry flies up to the catwalk and tries to bite the still-invisible Aram Zey.
Please move my mini to the right spot. There will still be a 50% miss chance.
bite attack roll: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
bite damage roll: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 91

Joliryn - Hawthwile |

Spellcraft, Heroism vs DC 22: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 = 28
”It’s a projected image - he can cast spells through the illusion as if he were standing where it is,” Joliryn drawls from the floor. ”The trick is that his senses have to be either from the image or his body, but not both at once. You would think someone so hesitant to get their hands dirty would recognize it...”
Not going to say that Rataji might be slightly rougher than required for that telekinetic charge, but I certainly wouldn’t blame him after all Joliryn’s jabs. GM, please place her token next to Gazwyr so she can attack the same square as him.
Also, how does telekinetic charge interact with being prone? It would make sense to me that it “fixes” the prone issue, so that’ll be reflected in my attack rolls. GM, please adjust if needed.
As she finds herself flying through the air, Joliryn makes a split-second decision. As she lands on her feet next to the dragon, she smiles wickedly. ”What’s the matter, Master of Scrolls? Is this more company than you bargained for?” Her eyes are almost as sharp as cold as her kukri as she slices at the invisible wizard.
No attack roll off the telekinetic charge so she can use her swift action to make her kukri Keen, then Spell Combat and Spell Strike with an Empowered (arcana) frigid touch.
Kukri, Spell Combat, Heroism: 1d20 + 12 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 12 - 2 + 2 = 18
Miss chance, 1 = Miss: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Slashing damage, Fire damage: 1d3 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (6) = 8
Kukri, Spell Combat, Heroism: 1d20 + 12 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 12 - 2 + 2 = 28
Miss chance, 1 = Miss: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Slashing damage, Fire damage: 1d3 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (2) = 5
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 12 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 12 - 2 + 2 = 27
Crit damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Cold damage: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 6) = 13 Empowered: 19 damage
Crit damage (?): 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 1) = 7 Empowered (total): 30 damage
If either attack hits, he is staggered for 1 round. If the second attack confirms, he is staggered for 1 minute.

GM Netherpongo |

Telekinetic Charge up to the balcony is fine. The spell description specifically says you can lift people off the ground and can change their direction during the 'charge'. Joliryn gets an immediate action attack at +2 from the spell that she hasn't taken as well. That should be just a normal attack since it isn't part of a standard or full attack I'm pretty sure, though.
Nothing in the spell description addresses the prone condition, so Joliryn would still be prone. (That crit is going to land regardless)
Joliryn, I also need you to confirm whether you are casting defensively or not. I typically assume people forgot, but this could be a more general 'disdain of wizards' thing.

![]() |

Shohiraj moves quietly up to the top of the stairs with sap in hand, waiting while the others hopefully solve the problem at hand. If not she can work on blocking his escape.. hopefully.
Thanks for the Bot. Invisible and double moved to my current position. Sap in hand, crossbow in offhand.

322 - Tusk’s Experiment |

The nameless elf is knocked flat. Shaking her head woozily, she shouts something, but instead of words the Aspis members a noise like wind blowing through trees.
"بازی کردن در اطراف کافی است! الان باید او را ببریم!"
Will save (Dreamed Secrets, DC 20): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Drat! PC Portfolio reroll, +1 GM Star.
Will save (Dreamed Secrets, DC 20): 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 = 21
She focuses her will on her right hand and intones something in a language not meant for mortal tongues. Motes of shadow swarm over her hand, covering it completely and joining together like an inky glove. She gasps in pain as the shadow peels off and hovers before her. With a wince, she gingerly draws a scroll from her pack.
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Casting Spectral Hand.

Marnarius – PFS Pregen |

Marnarius is not having a good time. He's covered in sticky glue that's hampering his movement, he's been knocked to the floor, he still doesn't know exactly where Zey is, and even if he did he couldn't take a swing because the bastard is apparently hiding somewhere on the balcony.
In other words, he's pissed.
Cursing loudly, he pulls himself to his feet and starts heading for the stairs.
Move action: Stand up
Move action: Move 15 feet further into the room (half speed due to entangled)
How long is Marnarius entangled for?

Joliryn - Hawthwile |

Joliryn decided against taking the immediate action to attack from the charge because otherwise she wouldn't have been able to use a point from her pool to make her weapon Keen as a swift action during her turn. Thanks for checking though!
And thank you for reminding me about casting defensively. If Joliryn's going to go all out, she's going to pull out all the stops and use her Spellguard Bracers to roll twice.
Concentration vs DC 19: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Concentration vs DC 19: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Whew! And a good thing she did too!
Marnarius, it looks like you could try to cut/scrape the goo off (at least if this arrow is similar to a tanglefoot bag).

GM Netherpongo |

Treat the effect on Marnarius exactly like a tanglefoot bag. That includes the DC 15 Reflex save to avoid being stuck to the floor. I think I said he was stuck to the floor earlier, but that's (potentially) wrong. Getting out of the tanglefoot effect is exactly as the bag version describes.
Tanglefoot Rounds: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Lucky. That means that tanglefoot will go away on its own right before Marnarius's next turn.

Marnarius – PFS Pregen |

Gotcha, sorry. I thought he was just entangled, not stuck. Revised turn.
Reflex Save, Entangled, Haste: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 - 2 + 1 = 13
S. Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Marnarius draws his sword and slashes viciously at the goo binding him to the floor, eventually scraping some of it off.
Move action: Stand up from prone
Standard action: Attack the goo!

GM Netherpongo |

I would apply the save as entangle was happening, not after. So no penalty on the Reflex save and you aren't stuck. (Marnarius is still pissed though!)

GM Netherpongo |

Contingency Dispel Magic vs Frigid Touch staggering effect (DC 18): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
I moved Gazwyr and Joliryn on the map, approximating their positions.
A flash of magical energy comes from the invisible form of Aram Zey just as Joliryn's attack cuts into something unexpectedly hard in that direction.
"The Aspis? Really?" Aram Zey scoffs, both in image form and from the balcony above. "Ridiculous. I thought even they could afford better mercenaries than these rank amateurs. And a pet dragon even? I'll have to reevaluate the ranking we give them when I speak with the Ten next."
Zey moves away, not bothering to hide the sound of his movement, the image on the ground tracing the same pattern. As he does, the image of Aram Zey makes arcane gestures as he conjures up a new spell.
I'm not forgetting the staggered effect on Frigid Touch. Stuff happened and he doesn't appear to be staggered.
"Rank amateurs at best, indeed..."
I need Joliryn to make a Will saving throw.

![]() |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
Feeblemind? I'm over here Zey... She's just a halfling with a sword.

Joliryn - Hawthwile |

Will: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Well poop.

Joliryn - Hawthwile |

Wait! Folio Reroll!
Will, GM Stars: 1d20 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 3 = 23
Sigh. That might have made it against a regular spell, but I doubt it’ll work against feeblemind because of the penalty to arcane casters. And I doubt anybody has a scroll of heal just lying around.
The good news is that we’re burning through his high-level spells and Joliryn, while spell-less, is still a halfling with a sharp stick. If we can get him visible and her next to him, she can make his life miserable with Step Up, Disruptive, and her bloodline arcana (which is not a spell and thus still usable - for added hilarity, she can slap a spell’s effect (from a short list, but still) on herself with the eldritch pool). Anybody got ideas for that? Perhaps 322 and Gazwyr can work together to locate him and strip his invisibility effect? And we haven’t even gotten Shohiraj and Marnarius into combat. We can do this!

GM Netherpongo |

Unfortunately, that does fail. Joliryn did take a big chunk out of him even if he wriggled out of staggered. Keep going!

322 - Tusk’s Experiment |

Is the entire party up again?

![]() |

If the party is up again, Rataji will cast See Invisibility and let everyone know exactly where Zey is.
He's right there. No, over there, next to the dragon. Come on, get yourself together and kill this sandy-trousered droning whippersnapper.

322 - Tusk’s Experiment |

Sigh. That might have made it against a regular spell, but I doubt it’ll work against feeblemind because of the penalty to arcane casters. And I doubt anybody has a scroll of heal just lying around.
Shoot - I forgot that spectral hand is limited to spells of 4th level or lower. Slight change of plans. At least 322 has a nice surprise for Joliryn.
The elf changes her plans as soon as she realizes that something has cut off Joliryn's taunting of their adversary. She pulls another scroll from her pack, then activates her wings and flies into the room, up towards the fray. The elf lands behind the halfling, and is surprised to find that she appears unharmed.
"Joliryn? What has happened?"
Move action to retrieve a scroll, swift action to activate Wings of Darkness, move action to fly up to the catwalk.

Joliryn - Hawthwile |

Joliryn stands motionless, kukri still clutched in her hand like a child's toy. Her haughty scowl is gone, replaced by a blank expression as she watches the dragon fly away down the balcony.
As much as I want her to chase after the invisible opponent, she doesn't even comprehend what invisible means anymore.

![]() |

Shohiraj stands her ground.. invisibly until she can tell for sure where the target is. She puts away her sap and readies a shot with her crossbow if he appears within sneak attack range.
MW Light Crossbow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 211d8 + 4d6 ⇒ (6) + (1, 3, 2, 4) = 16

GM Netherpongo |

Shohiraj, how do you mean 'exactly'? You are the last one to go in the round, so Aram Zey isn't likely to become visible before your next turn. Is this basically just a hold?

322 - Tusk’s Experiment |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Joliryn - Ha! 322 has a scroll of heal in one hand and a scroll of slay living in the other. Let's hope she remembers which is which.

GM Netherpongo |

Aram Zey Mirror Images: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 12 ⇒ (7, 2, 5) + 12 = 26
Rataji's eyes adjust to his spell to reveal Aram Zey standing on the platform just before he sees Gazwyr's acid breath scatter off an energy shield in front of the wizard, completely ineffective. He also immediately notices that there are eight different versions of the wizard moving together.
I moved 322 up to the catwalk.
"It's getting crowded up here. Smells musty, like snakes," Aram Zey says as he conjures up another spell, the rod in his hand flaring brightly. The wizard floats away from the balcony to hover over the battlefield. Zey is 15' in the air. He then holds up his hand to prominently a display a ring on his finger before he calls out a command word and immediately his wounds begin to close. Though his clothes remain ragged, the wizard appears completely unharmed after the spell. Friendly GM will let you know that his False Life is still gone, though.
Aram Zey cast Fly with the rod and used the ring to cast Cure Serious Wounds this round.
Only Rataji sees most of this, but I'm not spoilering it because it would be almost the whole post and he'll tell the short version to everyone soon anyway. The original illusion isn't serving much purpose anymore, so I'm removing it from the board to reduce clutter. Technically it's still around. The party can go!
322, remember that you can't use either scroll so long as you are holding scrolls in both hands. Also, both of those will require you to make caster level checks.

322 - Tusk’s Experiment |

I know about the caster level checks, but why would she need both hands to read one scroll?
Edit - Never mind. I spaced - 322 needs a free hand for the somatic component of the spell (either spell).
