| Matarno |
Matarno strides through the other rooms, alerting everyone to what he discovers, until he gets to the Stasis Hold. His eyes light up at the information he's able to gleam, and he immediately goes into trying to dislodge a cocoon.
Not high enough skill to just take 10...
Mysticism: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
Matarno comes out of the stasis hold, carrying one of the cocoons like a baby in his arms. Look what we have here... he emotes to whoever is around. I imagine that Tophoric and Karyn will want to begin examinations here on our trip back.
As he carries the cocoon through the crew quarters, he sees Xesh trying to search the room, and will set down his discovery to help out.
Take 10 on a perception check to aid Xesh... only putting us two aids away from a success.

Matarno, can you roll your aid? You can't take ten on aiding.
Oh, whoops! Definitely can roll that...
Perception Aid: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Matarno winds up contributing nothing, mostly just standing with his new cocoon and saying things like Wait, did you check that footlocker yet? to Xesh.

You complete your looting and run like hell to the Escape Pod! Anything in particular that you want to tell Naiaj?
Tophoric
|
Tophoric logs onto the comms. "We picked up some goodies, but the ship is bound for nothingness and there's nothing we can do to stop it. We'll have to pick it up next time it comes reality-side, I'm afraid."
| Matarno |
Matarno chimes in. "Well, technically the ship is bound for the Ethereal Plane. Now that we know where it was going, we could try to track it in the future... but it didn't seem prudent to leave someone behind to keep eyes on the ship."
Charli Poshkettle
|
Your comms crackle as you hear the last of the fight with the remaining Azlanti ships end. "Wooo! That was a tough fight!" Charli exclaims. "But Scout Team, Shield Team and Mama Gnome are all functional."
| GM Hmm |
Naiaj mutters over her comms, "I will not kill her. I will not kill her... Charli, I am NOT Mama Gnome!"
Charli Poshkettle

There is a discreet text burst coming from Scout Team to your sensors. Heh. Sometimes I can't resist tweaking her. I'm such a bad gnome! -- CP
The text somehow looks smug.
| GM Hmm |
Shortly after you depart the King Xeros, it sheds several more of its external Azlanti modifications and then floats slowly forward, fading into nothingness as it passes into the Ethereal Plane.
Venture-Captain Naiaj returns to your comms. "As Miss Poshkettle noted, we've shaken the last of the vanguard", Naiaj says, looking fierce as ever. "Time to wrap up!"
She orders the entire Starfinder operation to enter the Drift and return home before the Azlanti can regroup. "I am disappointed that we failed to secure the King Xeros for the Society to study, but from what I understand -- the Azlanti messed that ship up too badly for us to salvage it. Under the circumstances, I'm grateful that you kept the Azlanti from claiming the ether ship either. That would have been a disaster of epic proportions."
"I'm heartened by the knowledge and treasures you recovered from the King Xeros, be they equipment or intelligence the Society can use to better oppose the Star Empire, remnants of the ether ship the Society can use to analyze it via conjecture, or just valuable resources to help the Society financially. Good job, Strike Team!"

We now have reached the close of our Playtest adventure. If you would like, I would love to invite you all to submit a DVD-style "easter egg" to this game. A final vignette, coda, or other fun scene involving your character and what they learned. Thank you so much for gaming with me.

Matarno stands alone in his crew quarters, taking apart a sandwich that the culinary synthesizer has put together for him. He pulls out a floppy disk of indeterminate protein that he tosses over his shoulder - but instead of hitting the floor, it drops 10 feet into the pit that he's created in his crew quarters, slapping wetly onto the stasis cocoon that he's storing in the pit. Matarno stares intently at the festooned cocoon for a minute, but sighs as the meatstuff slides off of the cocoon and makes a soft *splat* on the ground.
Subject does not appear to be able to voluntarily leave the stasis cocoon for sustenance, Matarno types into his mission notes.

Karyn returned to her quarters on Absalom station, smiling at the credits she had received for this last job with the Starfinders. You know, one of these days she was going to have to buy some new boots to go with her armor. Maybe some with discrete jump jets built in. As she looked out of her window at one of the station parks, she sipped her Akiton Red. That little gnome really knew her stuff when it came to tea. In the morning, perhaps she would pay Ms. Poshkettle a visit.
Her comm unit chimed, and Karyn looked down to see a coded message pop up on the screen. With a heavy sigh she moved to the couch and opened a secret compartment to reveal another comm unit, this one a heavily-encrypted Kersh 350S. After her biometrics had been triple checked, the screen revealed a lashunta dressed in an impeccable (and expensive) phagar-silk suit.
"Hello Karyn, it has been a while, hasn't it? You employer has need of you. Please be at Site 3 for a mission briefing in two hours. This one is a hot target and it can't wait. Talk to you then."
The screen went blank once more, and Karyn put the Kersh back into its hidey hole. With a sigh, Karyn looked longingly at the half-full tea cup, then went to gather her things. There's no rest for the wicked; not even the extremely wicked.
GM Hmm, thanks so much for running this game and keeping us on task. I have never played in a faster or more fun-filled PBP scenario!

Sauros calls up his personal coach.
"'Sup, dood?! Hey, I just a righteous time with my side gig, the Starfinder Society. Scored some pics on the deck of this ethereal ship, and it got me thinking. I know you got connections. How about this for a quick mini-series: Ethereal Jetskiing?? I know, right? If anyone can pitch it to the major networks, I bet you can. 'K. Catch ya later!"
