A prisoner transport ship makes a pitstop to the newly founded colony of Madelon's Landing to drop off supplies to some old friends. But, when they arrive they find trouble has come to the planet! The Azlanti Star Empire has invaded! Can they save the fledgling colony and their friends? Or will they fail to stand against the Aeon Throne?

It's been three weeks since you set out from Absalom Station with a cargo hold full of deliveries. Your starship, Bounty, was hired to perform six small deliveries within the Pact Worlds to various planets. That was business as usual. You finished the lot of them within the week. But there were two other jobs you accepted... Ones far stranger than your typical runs!

Joanna brokered a deal with AbadarCorp which allowed your ship to carry a massive shipment of supplies to the newly established colony of Madelon's Landing on the planet Nakondis. A colony that Joanna's brother helped found and lived at. Surprisingly, an old friend of everyone's -- an android by the name of Cedona, also lived on the fledgeling colony. She had recently sent a message to Sodok telling him she had discovered something extraordinary, but the message soon cut out. Curious!

Your Captain also finagled an interesting bit of cargo! He agreed -- for a lot of credits -- to transport a criminal from Absalom Station to a prison in the Vast. The prisoner in question was a drow arms dealer arrested for selling dangerous weapons on the black market. Aside from her name -- Mysterra Zeizerer -- and the armour she was shipped with he knows nothing else about her. The drow woman seemed nice enough... And she hadn't caused any trouble...

With the mundane deliveries out of the way the Bounty left the Pact Worlds behind. They set off through the Drift -- another plane of swirling colours and shifting empty space -- for the planet Nakondis! They could spend a few days there, resupplying and visiting with old friends, before they had to take off again for the prison. Hopefully they could pick up some extra delivery jobs while they were on Nakondis. Surely the people there had something they wanted to send home?

It's been two weeks of travel through the Drift. Time passes slowly. But you're pretty sure you'll be reaching your destination soon.

Take the time to describe your characters, what they typically do on the ship, and what the other characters would know about them. Keep in mind that the three of you have been working together for a few years aboard the Bounty. You're all friends.

Mysterra Zeizerer was a tall drow woman. She had long white hear, purple skin, and a pleasant smile which she showed her captors often. Officially she had been arrested for illegal arms trafficking, but she knew it was a trumped up charge. She was guilty, of course! But so was everyone on Apostae. Her home planet was known for its black market dealings. In fact, she had been working on behalf of her house, House Zeizerer, a major Arms Corporation. Somewhere along the way someone must have forgotten to pay the proper bribes -- or perhaps they were betrayed by another House. Either way, the deal had gone sour, and when a scapegoat was needed they had given up Mysterra.

She wasn't mad about it.

Not really.

Had she been in charge she would have given them up just as easily. Houses are united only against outsiders. To insiders it's just another type of warzone.

She was transferred a few times since then. In the end she was to be transferred to some off the grid jail out in the Vast. Why they would bother to send her all the way out there was anyone's guess. Whatever the reason, she didn't like it. A jail like that was unlikely to follow the laws of the Pact Worlds. She was sure to be mistreated.

It was nothing she couldn't handle.

Still, being transported on such a comfortable ship was a surprise. She was in a cage, but was no longer manacled. The contemplative fed her regularly. He seemed worried over her health. Clearly they didn't trasnsport prisoners often. The ysoki let her out once a day to go to the washroom and clean herself. She was allowed to shower -- under armed guard, or course.

All in all it was a pleasant trip.

She smiled at her captors whenever they passed by, tried to strike up a pleasant conversation, and attempted to convince them to let her have something to pass the time. When they weren't looking she prayed to her patron, Shax. Not for freedom. That time had passed. But for the chance to provide him an offering before she was locked away for the rest of her life.

Sokon was a contemplative. He had as massively large pink brain covered in blue glowing symbols. Beneath it dangled his tiny little body, which was dark grey. He flew around the ship with his telekinesis, and spoke to people with his thoughts. Mostly he spoke to the prisoner to keep her occupied.

Sokon was the ships engineer, science officer, and now the prisoner tender. It was his job to keep the ship running and in good shape.

Sokon was excited to visit Madelon's Landing and talk with his friend Cedona. He's very curious why she called him!

But, on the ship right now he's taking care of the prisoner! Who he hopes does not attack him.

Also, he gives her paper, a crayon, a puzzle, and a book. Only one at a time, when she asked for them. And with supervision. Long trips could be boring.

He is always reading eBooks on his comm unit, and thinking of new ways to fix the ship.

He always gets along with Joanna and his captain. They are his best friends.

Mysterra is grateful that her captors are so soft and kind! She happily reads, does puzzles, and draws with crayons whenever she has the chance, She's sure to only draw pleasant things. She wouldn't want to scare the contemplative off, after all. Although she does tend to hide her demonic patron's sigil in her artwork, thinking of it as just another game of skill...

Joanna is a cute little white furred ysoki with big round ears, black eyes, pink ninja clothes, and a black dragon tattoo on her arm. She was from the Dragon Clan! She is the ship's pilot. She took over when Cedona retired a year ago. She came in and invited herself.

Joanna is very happy to be delivering a package to her brother on Nakondis. She can't wait to see him!

She is friends with Sokon and her captain. But she doesn't like that her captain brought a criminal on board! That's just not nice! And she doesn't like that Sokon is being so nice to her! Bad idea!

She can't wait to get rid of that drow!

Captain Pablo Kova is friendly for a dead guy. Or, was he dead. He couldn't be sure anymore. Whatever he was, he was the Captain! That was nice.

He ran a freighter ship called Bounty, and had only two crew members right now, Joana and Sokon. That was fine with him. Less people to pay meant more money for him.

On the trip Pablo often listens to loud sugar pop music on his comm unit, his favourite of which is Strawberry Machine Cake! He dances around while he's got his headphones on and hums along.

He's not worried about the prisoner, she's just another delivery. "Don't worry, Joanna. She's a good payday! Think of all the stuff you can buy when we get rid of her. Maybe some rabbit jewelry. Shopping will be fun, right? Buying all that... stuff. Good times."

Suddenly the shifting, swirling colours of the Drift vanish, and outside is the black of space marked with twinkling white stars. Bounty has emerged from the Drift! The crew takes up their positions, with Sokon in the engineering bay, Pablo in the Captain's chair in the cockpit, and Joanna at the helm right beside Pablo. Ahead the can see the planet of Nakondis, which looks mostly white from above, covered as it is in dense clouds that crackle with lightning flashes.

Sokon, the science officer, can scan Nakondis with your ships sensors to learn about the planet. This is a computers check.

Sokon: Computers DC 10:
Nakondis is the second planet in the Nakon solar system. It is 3/4 the diameter of old Golarion, with a mass 9/16, with breathable atmosphere, average gravity, and a day/night cycle of approximately 22 hours, and a year of around 202 days. It's weather appears temperate, meaning it undergoes obvious seasonal changes, both to the weather and temperature throughout the year. It is currently in a season approximate to 'spring,' and the weather is rather cool. You detect living things on the planet.

Sokon: Computers DC 15:
The entire planet of Nakondis is covered in a thick blanket of white and grey swirling mist. In addition to being very difficult to see through, cooling the planet's climate by blocking sunlight, and cutting down visibility, this mist is highly conductive, and can discharge electricity. Deciduous forests cover most of Nakondis, except near the equator, where tall grasses are the dominant plants. Low mountain ranges crisscross the planet, but none rises far above the tree line. There are no oceans on the surface, but immense cold ionised seas exist.

Sokon: Computers DC 18:
Your scanners also pick up an energy signal different than that of the electrical fog, which is likely Madelon's Landing. You're too far away to determine a good landing site, or to identify the planet's life forms in detail, but you do know which sector of the planet you should set a course for.

Meanwhile, Joanna needs to turn off autopilot and take the helm. Get flying, Joanna!

Captain Pablo leans forward in his chair and flicks on the comms. "How do things down there, Sokon? What are the sensors picking up?"

Then he waits to hear Sokon's response.

"Slow the approach, Joana, until we get a good sitrep."

Sitrep is short for situation report.

Mysterra stands up in the cage and stretches. She grabs onto the cell bars and tries to peer out a viewport so she can see the stars.

Sokon reads the scans carefully, then he tells everyone one the ship with his telepathic powers, what he knows.

At the captain's command, Joanna flies the Bounty towards the planet of Nakondis. The first few minutes are smooth and easy. Suddenly, Sokon picks up an incoming transmission!

Incoming Transmission

As the message cuts out in a burst of static the proximity alert blares loudly! Hostiles detected!

Sokon looks at the consoles and realizes that two objects which had been in orbit have sharply changed direction and velocity... they're heading to flank each side of your ship! Looks like you've got less than a minute before they're in firing range!

You have less than a minute to prepare for battle. Is there anything you would like to do before we start up our first PBP starship battle?

Hearing the alarms blare Mysterra grabs on the bars of the cage and tries to see what's going on out of the viewport.

< "GUYS WE'RE IN TROUBLE! There are two incoming hostile ships and someone from Nakondis is calling for help. We NEED to destroy those ships. Something is not going very well! Also, we have no gunner. I will fix that." >

Sokon flies off to see Mysterra. < "Are you any good at shooting guns? I hope so. I require you to fire the turret so we do not all die a horrible death. Come. The gun is this way." >

Sokon lets Mysterra out and leads her to the turret controls.

< "Good luck. Bye." >

Sokon flies back to his engineering station.

Sokon is going to be a Science Officer this round. He acts in the Helm Phase. He clicks a few buttons with his mind, making a giant scanner extend out from the Bounty and scan the enemy ships.

Joanna gasps. "My brother's down there! Oh, no! We've gotta take these enemy ships down so we can go save him and Madelon's Landing!"

Joanna grabs the steering wheel and starts taking evasive action. She looks a little worried, but very focused.

Sokon's scans reveal that there is nothing living on either of these ships. They are unmanned drones of a make a model never before seen in the Pact Worlds. You don't sense any remote signals around the drone, so you believe that they are operated by on-ship AI computers (not remotely by someone elsewhere). Both of the ships are tiny racers that are very fast (Speed 12) and have perfect handling (Turn 0). Neither of them possess shields, and both have an AC of 15 and a TL (target lock) of 15. They have 20 Hull Points and a critical threshold of 4. Each of them are equipped with a single laser cannon in their front quadrant which deals 2d4 damage.

The Captain's encouragement helps Joanna outmaneuver the enemy drones, giving her the advantage. Both drones fly closer to the Bounty, hoping to catch her in their crossfire!

Joanna can move the ship on the map!

Joana expertly turns and twists the ship, ending up right behind one of the drones! "WAHOOO!"
