Edward stands alert. He's neither hiding, nor rushing to the front of the door. He's listening for the sound of footsteps as they come close to the door. Are there only a few? Is it dozens? Is there a muttering of spellcasting close to the door, indicating a massive spell might be coming when they kick open the door?(In which case, he -will- charge the door and smash it open on the Magi's head. ;))
His shoulders are tense and he's motionless, not just tuning to the outdoors, but inwards as well in case someone here decides to shove a shank in his ribs. He doesn't intend to be caught unawares.

You can shift for Scent to mitigate that BTW.
Lierin
I have low-light, as well, but as stated, once the door opens, I'll be able to see just fine.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Even as she listens for the sounds of incoming guards, Lierin melts into the shadows near enough to the door that she can spring into action once it opens.
Kahmunash
Kahmunash watches with a raised eyebrow as this intriguing woman appears and releases all the monsters in the block with a tap of her staff. He sits and contemplates for a moment before speaking. "Well, this is a pleasant surprise. I don't generally like to be indebted to strangers, but I do think escaping is a mutually beneficial goal for all of us, yes? He utters a curse under his breath at not taking time to learn about the various monsters of this new place beforehand, as he has little idea of what everyone can do. "Unfortunately, my talents are better suited to deceiving and manipulating idiotic mortals than rending their flesh from their bones. Is anyone else here good at that? I do believe I can render a decent magical disguise as a guard if one of you can assume a more Humanoid Shape than I can"
Crunch of a Mesmerist Implanted Trick of Fearsome Guise, basically a free Disguise Self spell (Though remember that it can't make you look like something other than your current type)
"Also, who here can contribute to a fight from a range currently?
Kahmunash
Kahmunash turns towards the little Goblin. "Ah, excellent. If I might so suggest, do try to target the ones I am indicating. I might not have the arms for brutal murder, but I do know how to subtly weaken a foe's concentration and mental resistance." He gives Gop a very toothy crocodile grin before turning to the ... thing in the corner. "Well, you are certainly an ... oddity. Can you speak? If not I will assume that gesture is meant to indicate you can also act from a range, thought I will admit I am less sure how.

”I doubt the guards would believe such a trick and even if they did that would leave whoever was transformed surrounded by guards. We should stay together, we can try your fancy tricks once we have more ground to work with.”

Straining in the dark to hear the sound of the soldiers still, the boar-man can hear the conversation around him just fine even though he's incapable of seeing.
"Yeah. Are we sure they're going to come in here? The magic of this place might try to force peace on the people inside. That might be why they haven't shown up, yet. Or they could be waiting outside with the thought that if we don't move, they can wait until morning and march in with the whole army." He asks, low enough that it won't travel through the door. "Or if they know we're here, they could just kick open the door and cast a room-clearing fireball. Or they might not know we've escaped and three people are casually sauntering up here to check on us. The problem we have is that we got no idea. Squishy: Can you ooze an eyestalk under the door - Not all the way, just enough to check without being seen if someone's coming, how many there are and if they look like they know we're out?"
Eat-in-Shadow
Eat-in-Shadow rejoices as the iron is released and the light gives way to the darkness. He crawls after the group, his form slightly shifting while he choose how to best hunt.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
I can make darkness if you want to extinguish the guards' light

On a scale from 0 to 8 we have Richter with no posts yet and Aggghhh with 8 posts. Glad to see almost everyone is keen to play.
Unable to enjoy your new found freedom, you prepare for the expected intrusion. Those listening in near the door can hear something through it.
"Do you think they've escaped?"
"Don't be a moron. Those things can only be deactivated magically, It's probably just a malfunction."
"They shouldn't malfunction. What if one broke? Shouldn't the Sergeant be here already?"
"Fine. You two wait here and I'll go see what's taking them so long. The door's locked so you'll be fine. It's a malfunction you'll see."
Footsteps trail off.

I was listening and already made the check.
The boar-man's ears, perked up, hears the sounds of the guards. "They don't know."He says in a low growl, "Two of them. More coming. They say the door is locked, but the sergeant's coming soon. If we're fast, we can take them out, send the sneakies off to the barracks and take out the sleeping ones for the inevitable alarm. We'd have to move fast, though."
Igoroskandrallanotly - “Igor”
Igoroskandrallanotly looks at the alligator-headed man and says, ”It’s a good plan - once we’ve subdued the initial guards, I can assume a human form that might help.”
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
The doppelganger waits for the guard to enter, since the boarman said one was coming.

In the dark, Edward shrugs. He modulates his voice, keeping low to keep the soldiers on the other side hearing. "Maybe. But keep it down. We go out now, we could take out the two. Then, we'd have to keep a watch in the hallway to ambush the people comin' before they turned the corner, 'cause my suspicion is that there will be a mess. A lot of it. The metallic smell of blood mingling with the human waste that gets kicked out whenever somebody dies might tip him off something is up before the sarge turns the corner and we might see the alarm raised quick, in which case I hope the sneakies got the sleepers fast. Or we can wait, in which case we don't know how many people the Sergeant is bringin' with him and we still might have an alarm raised."
There's a brief pause as the shifter thinks, "Doesn't matter. As soon as that door opens, we have to have a plan. Do we split up? Dunno about you, but my druthers is that this whole place gets set on fire. Start with the rafters. Let's see if they can chase us when they're fightin' a fire at the same time. Very least, they gotta split their guys - If the sneakies did their job, they'll have even fewer to come after us. If we don't split up, we make a noise like a herd of elephants and whoever is left alive when the alarm sounds will for sure find us all. So what's it gonna be? Act now and hit the few or wait and potentially fight the many?"
Fjori Unnason
Fjori looks around trying to spot the creature that doused the lights. ”Hey twitchy, think you could do that acid thing you did with the lights to the door hinges. If we weaken them enough we can knock the door right down and use it as a makeshift shield while surprising the guards.”
edit: I’m also all for acting now, better to deal with a known situation and all that
Ngogh'gnish the Unknowable
"The slaughter is upon," the thing whispers from the edge of its cell. The eyes blink and roll wildly, not in unison, but with some semblance of a pattern. The slithering body quivers against the bars, wrapping and unwrapping in what's most probably anticipation. "Too much unknown, always forever, to know is to not, as is was will. Now is to be, while being is. Like fish in a church they are, but not forever, no, seize while the seizing is good."
Ngogh'gnish makes no motion toward the door, but its body appears to be straining toward it--as though it should be walking, but isn't. When the giant calls out, the creature writhes and whispers again, and as its head snaps violently at an angle that seems impossible without breaking from the body, more of the hissing acid sprays forth, less hurtling through the air than simply splashing against the door hinges.
My vote goes to acting now. As Edward's put it, there's a lot of variables, and we could get analysis paralysis. The longer we wait the less we know. (Edited to reflect Fjori's post)
Fjori Unnason
Fjori nods to the creature before lining up in front of the door and looking back. ”Anyone think they can help with this? And who’s going to take the guards out once it goes down?
Fiaincosranboladhrianoir
Take 10 Perception for 18.
"Agreed. Hit them before they hit us. A moment of surprise can turn even tough prey into an easy kill."
Kahmunash
"Though, how certain are we that we can in fact open it that way? I will admit breaking down jail cell doors is not my area of expertise, but it strikes me as a noisy and uncertain solution." He turns to Fjori. "All due respect sir, but I do believe that more force will be required than what you alone can provide. We will probably require a full contingent of individuals hitting the Door in unison to break it down, weakened hinges or not." He turns back to the rest of the group. "Do we have any more volunteers, or other ideas for getting the door open? He says, scanning the room with his eyes.
Fiaincosranboladhrianoir
The Hound snorts.
"Have any of you tried simply pulling the door open yet?"
Cardinal A. Thorn
Tartarus rolls up and tries to open the door. The handle turns and the door opens, its magical lock unknowingly disabled at the same time your collars and call doors were. You look through into a well-lit room to see two surprised guards. One has a horn on his belt to signal for help. Both have not drawn weapons yet(longswords) or have their shields ready(heavy steel shield) and their longbows lean against the wall to your left accompanied by their quivers(20 arrows each). In the left wall is another door. Behind the guards are stairs leading down on the right and a chimney flue with smoke in it rising from below. The light from the torch behind the guards illuminates you and they have seen you.
Surprise round
You have caught them by surprise and can all act first. Limited space in the room so whoever posts first will get to attack first here.

Surprise Round
Igoroskandrallanotly, having been waiting by the door for the guard to come in, moves out into the room and behind one of the guards before slashing him with a claw.
Attack vs flat-footed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirm?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (4) = 7
Critical Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
I've moved behind one of the guards, so I should be providing a flank for someone.

Oh, for the love of..." The Boar-man grumbles, immediately going for the guy with the instrument if he is not yet dead(The other guard if he is), and hoping that he gets here before the torch goes out. "Sound travels through darkness, bub."
I assume I wasn't within a five foot step, but I'll go for both claws if I can. ;)
Gore Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Gore damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Miss chance if darkness is in effect: 1d100 ⇒ 47
Does a natural 1 hit? I bet it does.
Eat-in-Shadow
Moving forward, something in Eat-in-Shadow shifts. His hands elongate into claws, his teeth into fangs, and he moves in the darkness with purpose and certainty.
Spending 1 spell point to get a bite and two claws, then moving inside.
