Carbuncle is fine, as is any feat on d20pfsrd.com or aonprd.com.

I'll leave Teamwork as affecting your "sidekick" for those who have one, but for simplicity's sake, you can only take non-combat feats as bonus feats.

For Teamwork Feats under the Combat Feats category, such as Brutal Grappler, you'd have to get the feat as a regular feat, but it will still benefit both hero and sidekick no matter when you get the feat.

Female Human Eldritch Guardian 2, Gendarme/Vermin Tamer 1| 40/40 HP|

Cool, thanks.

And what I meant by asking about the carbuncle feats was if I could use the Possessed Hand line from Haunted Heroes as a prerequisite stand in for the line because it gives me nothing aside from duplicating a feat I already have and allowing me to qualify for feats I want.

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

Yes, that's fine.

Just remember how nice a GM I was when I become one of those annoying players who only casts buffs on herself. (Not that VV will be a selfish jerk. Her spells represent her superpowers, and I'm specifically taking spells based on comic book heroines. The funny part is Magical Child Vigilante spells are from the Unchained Summoner list, but I won't ever summon.)

Whoopsie. I thought "Shut up, Jack" *click* would be kind of a lightly-humorous moment depicting George's indifference to delivering pain to one who, in his opinion, had it coming. But I really rolled it as opposed to just making it play out as a script, and so... well... the thing that had a 20% chance of happening happened.

Anyway, now no worries about what to do with Jack. I mean, criminals don't arrest themselves, right? He is the Lv.426 contact, so at the very least, take comfort in knowing he was the one evil person in the bar, and aside from being able to explain the diagrams, he didn't have much to say.

Will have other NPCs interact in a bit (y'know... the ones who will see that you get money for your troubles), but I should let players react to chaos and diagrams before I make any more NPCs explode.

I drew doodles at work since proctoring a test means needing to do something to pass the time.

Top to Bottom:
Henrietta punching a thug with her detatchable hand. She's not carrying a lance in her right hand. I changed my mind about her holding her weapon, but wasn't using an erasable pen.
Henrietta road-raging in a Jeep. She's not riding Hank, but Hank is involved.
Vermilion Vixen roundhouse-kicking. I am definitely committed to stilettos as weapons because I like drawing VV kicking more than I like drawing her brandishing a weapon. Yes, that's the real reason!

*Cough* Maybe a 'NSFW' warning*Cough* (^_~)

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

Oops. Right. Sorry.

Er... a bit late, but the road-raging panel includes Hank making an obscene gesture. But the guy on the receiving end must've done something to deserve it, seeing how he got dad and daughter Howard to hate him more than they hate each other.

Female Human Eldritch Guardian 2, Gendarme/Vermin Tamer 1| 40/40 HP|

Me and the wife will be on the road and in the sky traveling from today til the 7th, but they're the driver so I should be able to post consistently

I am gonna press pause on advancing my search, however, so I don't find out everything all on my own

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

Whether business or pleasure, enjoy your trip!

Giving others a chance to get info is fine, though I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying the conversations can be interrupted anytime by all hell breaking loose. (Hell being a place with more than one monster at a time.) The prostitute and dominatrix know a thing, and the halfling has an explanation about the thing nobody asked yet, but only the prince knows the other thing nobody asked yet.

What you don't learn here in the bar, you might learn when you get to the prince, so I'm just as happy to keep NPCs talking as I am to throw a horde at you.

If no one other than Henrietta has questions for NPCs, you actually have enough in-character knowledge to know the Prince will be at the docks (just outside the bar*), and that the "shipment" is demon seeds like the one Biff ingested. Feel free to move your characters outside as a means of signaling you're ready for action.

The Real Life Fu Bar:
---------------------------------------------------
There is a real Fu Bar in Hong Kong. I've never been inside, but a friend noticed and the name was good for a laugh. The bar is even close to the harbor (from Hong Kong Island to the Kowloon Penninsula).

Of course FUBAR is a WWII era slang that stands for something that rhymes with Mucked Up Beyond All Recognition, which is what demon seeds do to people when they become "gut-busters."

Aside from becoming a monster instead of one bursting out of you, the "gut-buster" is inspired by the "chest-burster" from the Alien movies. The setting for Aliens is a planet called LV-426, which is where the criminal organization's name, "Level 426" ("Lv.426"), comes from.
---------------------------------------------------

If that's the case, I'll show the scene outdoors while giving Henrietta time to wrap up upstairs. If people downstairs stay in the bar to talk to Lebowski or the Nelsons, that's fine too. I'm trying to get a feel for every players' desired pace, but let me know in-character or out- if you want more RP time or to move on to the action.

I got a lucky roll that healed Hank, so you'll all be at full HP on your way to the ship!

I was giving the other PCs more time to interact, but Anabel is ready to go after the prince.

Handsome Henrietta Howard wrote:

@Lobster,

Seems like the rest of the party is ready to move on and intercept the Prince's ship. I believe you can get all the info the whores have to offer with a single exchange of dialogue, depending on the question.

Unless you object to this, I'd like to answer Henrietta's next question(s) after your next post, then cut to the harborfront scene with the whole party present.

@Everyone else,
I'll assume you boldly await the Prince's arrival at the obvious, attention-getting dock lit by green flames, unless otherwise stated.

My initiative rolls are pathetic! I guess I technically just rolled Initiative for the whole party by rolling so low no player can possible lose.

So you all won initiative vs. the GM... again.

Just post actions—3 rounds worth—and I will assume no PC is in harm's way when the ship collides (if it collides).

Sorry folks. Has been steamy and hot here past few days 80'F, 70% humidity. Shift work been adding to the toll. (-_-)

Hope to recharge the bio-batteries voer the next day or so and pick up my posting .Much cheers to all.

Understandable. If you get a chance to check the Gameplay thread in the next 48 hours, see Anabel's post. That's more or less what I had in mind—just name the action. If you can repeat it two or three times, I'll work it out so you do that and end up out of harm's way yourself.

Oh! Didn't think of that!

Yah, possibly an innitial 'Charge' down the pier to slam into the upright to get things shaking. (^_^)

If you're gonna think outside the box and come up with a crazy idea that actually works, might as well look cool doing it!

Female Human Eldritch Guardian 2, Gendarme/Vermin Tamer 1| 40/40 HP|

In depth post to come, wife and I drove 36 hours over the last four days so we are BEAT, flying out tomorrow and then it settles a little bit (but we fly again on the 12th)

Sorry for the sporadic posting

No biggie. Post when you can.

I moved forward since enough actions were taken to save every endangered life, including those on the ship. Had the ship crashed at full speed, one of the frogmen would have been flung from the crow's nest and would have died horribly. (Frogman = bad guy, but you can assume that the nagaji slaves would have suffered casualties as well.) Had the ship not been forced to change course, sleeping men might have been killed (not enough time to move all far enough) and the demonseed effect would have turned them. And of course, the men needed to be moved.

Lampposts being toppled into the sea or both lamps extinguished (through engineering or magical means) were also possible solutions. In any case, the challenge was to save lives, and you all nailed it.

Next encounter: straight combat. Take a 1-round action to prepare, if you want.

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

There would have been a wave of gut-busters, but you saved everyone who could be saved. Oh... and I meant to add a spoiler with a flashback for Henrietta. Will edit that into the post with the "Ship" avatar.

Aside from that, my multi-post start is up and since we're in rounds already, no need to roll initiative. All PCs can act.

Flashback added: Ness and Maude respond to Henrietta.

Anyone curious can peek at the spoiler. It's only hidden because only one PC experiences it, and I don't want to clutter the present-time posts. If I *really* don't want other players to look, I'll PM.

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

It goes without saying that Goddity is welcome back to the game if she ever returns to Paizo. It seems the Elegant Edge is either busy or has also left Paizo. And again, no penalty for re-emerging.

Despite losing a short-time Paizo member or two, I do like the idea of welcoming new people, so I'm taking a chance by encouraging this for reasons mentioned in the linked post.

I'm one of the luckier Paizo noobs, having been welcomed into a game on day one, and invited to others (though I politely declined as I can't focus on more than two games, GMing one max). Hopefully we'll find some hidden gems (that stick around). If not, a party of four works.

Bugger.... Real Life strikes again... :(

Best wishes to every one! (^_^)

Yeah... it's a bummer to lose good players. I don't know for a fact Fifika left, but do know s/he is busy with school and takes classes at night. So I can't blame a person for having priorities.

On another note, I want to finalize GM Pay. Two options, both based on NPC Heroic Wealth:

1 - NPC Heroic Wealth, rounded:
Ep.#1 / Lv.3 = 1,000 gp
Ep.#2 / Lv.4 = 2,000 gp
Ep.#3 / Lv.5 = 3,000 gp
Ep.#4 / Lv.6 = 4,000 gp
Ep.#5 / Lv.7 = 6,000 gp
Ep.#6 / Lv.8 = 8,000 gp
Ep.#7 / Lv.9 = 10,000 gp
Ep.#8 / Lv.10 = 12,000 gp
Ep.#9 / Lv.11 = 15,000 gp
Ep.#10 / Lv.12 = 20,000 gp
Ep.#11 / Lv.13 = 25,000 gp
Ep.#12 / Lv.14 = 30,000 gp
Ep.#13 / Lv.15 = 45,000 gp
Ep.#14 / Lv.16 = 60,000 gp
Ep.#15 / Lv.17 = 75,000 gp
Ep.#16 / Lv.18 = 90,000 gp
Ep.#17 / Lv.19 = 120,000 gp
Ep.#18+ / Lv.20 = 150,000 gp

2 - NPC Heroic Wealth, actual:
Ep.#1 / Lv.3 = 1,650 gp
Ep.#2 / Lv.4 = 2,400 gp
Ep.#3 / Lv.5 = 3,450 gp
Ep.#4 / Lv.6 = 4,500 gp
Ep.#5 / Lv.7 = 6,000 gp
Ep.#6 / Lv.8 = 7,800 gp
Ep.#7 / Lv.9 = 10,050 gp
Ep.#8 / Lv.10 = 12,750 gp
Ep.#9 / Lv.11 = 16,350 gp
Ep.#10 / Lv.12 = 21,000 gp
Ep.#11 / Lv.13 = 27,000 gp
Ep.#12 / Lv.14 = 34,800 gp
Ep.#13 / Lv.15 = 45,000 gp
Ep.#14 / Lv.16 = 58,500 gp
Ep.#15 / Lv.17 = 75,000 gp
Ep.#16 / Lv.18 = 96,000 gp
Ep.#17 / Lv.19 = 123,000 gp
Ep.#18+ / Lv.20 = 159,000 gp

Option #1 has round numbers, starting with 1,000 gp.
Option #2 uses numbers on an actual PF table.

I would get a 650 gp raise with option #2, but I don't care about that. Let me know what you prefer.

After watching Incredibles II last night, I really love the idea of starting VV with the "long arm" spell. It'll basically be like casting Lunge, and I called it "long leg" in my known spells list. VV probably won't use this spell until she's high level and has metamagic feats (Familiar/Quickened Spell), but she will have Combat Reflexes early enough that it might be worth casting for AoO vs. anyone stepping within ten feet.

I doubt she'll ever use all of her day's spells, since I plan to mainly fight. The high CHA is not really about magic/benefits, but more of an emphasis on her looks/personality. (Hopefully, how I RP her backs that up!)

Totally understandable. If you can't post before I post, just take two turns next time.

You have a clear path to charging the group of six Toadies.

Hey all!

VV has graciously invited me to join up with you merry band. I have to do some stats surgery on Sabs to make her line up with the character build rules. I look forward to joining in on the action soon.

Hello and welcome to the merry band. :)

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

I let her in as PC-only, as it sounds like "Sabrina" doesn't want to end up GM'ing two games at once. I can relate. As long as I have at least two of you who *WANT* to GM, that's enough so I can play more episodes than I GM—which is what I want.

The 72 hours is almost up. I'll either post tonight or tomorrow. Sabrina can enter as if she saw the crash, knows it's the Prince's ship, and as the chaos of battle ensues no one notices the little gnome rushing into the fray. No need to spend X rounds moving—she finishes her climb on whatever round that the player is able to post, even if that's next round. Sabrina will be positioned anywhere from 10-30 feet from the Toadies. (Exact distance is up to the player. Point is, if Sabrina wants to move + melee-attack, she can.)

@Sunset, go ahead and take Round 2 actions now that I'm done posting.

Baddies:
1 Prince, 2 Bullies, 7 Toadies.

Hand-waving one or two of the seven if Elegant Edge does not return. (Likely one, since Sabrina keeps the PC-count as planned.) Her character is fighting the good fight, but I won't roll for her or her enemies, just to not clutter the game with more rolls than needed.

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

I would normally keep real life news off this site, but seeing how this is a superhero-inspired campaign, I feel it's appropriate:

RIP, Stan Lee.

The Marvel Comics legend passed away today at the age of 95.

Is there a combat map that I'm missing somewhere? Or are we mind's eyeing it?

Also if everyone can put there current HP and max HP underneath their name that would be super helpful for me as the designated party healer. If you don't know how to do this just stick it in the race, class/level, or gender field in the character profile.

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

Mind's-eyeing. Alistair is down by 9HP so far. Everyone else is at full HP... for now.

It occurs to me... there isn't really a reason not to just tell you the enemy's AC. At least once you've starting rolling and scored hits and misses.

AC14 for Toadies.

...

And while I'm telling you what is, I guess, supposed to be a GM secret...

...

If you outnumber enemies, let me decide who gets the flank bonus.

What I do is basically add a +2 bonus for every two players ganging up on an enemy. So AC14... Henrietta rolls 15 vs an enemy facing Captain Andoran. Andoran rolls 13. I give the +2 to Andoran because Henrietta hits without the flanking bonus.

The logic: I've held my own 5-vs.-1 staffing a LARP and have done 4-on-1s in karate. The One does all in his power to not open his back. And a 60-year-old rapidly punching my chest is the result of me attempting an attack from behind.

So I say, you have no idea who is flanking in combat. So I give +2 bonus/es to the pair/group, and they are applied to the first player to miss the enemy's AC by 1-2 points.

(Exception: if a character is approaching a distracted/engaged enemy, then the +2 goes to that character.)

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

Had They Might Be Giants' "Bullies" stuck in my head (while looking up Bully stats... and by the way, Touch AC is 11, which is good news for Sabrina!).

But anyway, when I went to listen on YouTube, I noticed that TMBG's newest song (released one hour after this post) features a basketball-playing human frog!

You read that mid-round post correctly. A new player completed his character, and the Edge got in touch. Real-life is busy for the player, but she's certainly welcome to stick around and post when life allows!

Hello everyone,

I'm getting caught up on the gameplay and discussion threads. I didn't see the level 2 non-combat feat before. I chose Additional Traits and then Pragmatic Activator and Dangerously curious.

I also added a link to a spreadsheet in Caledon's profile that tracks his equipment wealth and encumbered. I like having a lot of mundane adventuring gear, so I bought a mule to carry all my stuff.

Great! Thanks for joining the game!

I have posts from 6 of 7 players. For now, I posted info from knowledge/perc checks. I'll do the reflex saves when I do my insane multi-NPC post.

PS- @Caledon, note that I edited ten minutes after posting. In case you happened to be online and read my post before the edit, it's in italics after the CASTER/SPELL heading.

Thank you. I did miss the italics the first read through. Also, I forgot to add spell level to the REF DC, so it should be a 17.

Female Human Vigilante Brawler

@Johnny,
My pleasure. It was nice to separate the checks from all the chaos of battle. A crit, a fumble, three failed saves and accidental self-harm! (The Prince "royally" screwed himself! Er... get it?)

...

@Ed,
If you want to, you can move Alistair into the ship in a single round without drawing attention. Frogs will bounce harmlessly off him, but since he didn't take any damage from Rain of Frogs (yet), he isn't covered in poison. (It's not raining inside the ship.)

• Anyone with Perc +10 (DC20 Take Ten) can figure out where Alistair is going.
• Anyone with Perc +5 might notice a frog bouncing off an invisible obstacle ~6 feet above the deck, but will not be able to track Alistair's movement.
• This round, I won't even bother looking up the Boggard Brute perception bonus. He rolled a 1 and watched his own weapon fly out of his hand. I don't actually do critical fumbles, by the way. I just like making NPC fails spectacular when they try to be awesome and screw up.

If you look at the Round 3 post for Rain of Frog Targets, #10 was the Prince's unlucky number! Not sure how Rain of Frogs should work. I had to look up the damage, so that's correct, but I just plain made up *how* the frog "swarm" randomly attacks. (Just the how part. Spell description says the caster can't control who is attacked.)

I personally HATE swarms—I mean as in pet-peeve: I think it's lame that a fighter can't possibly kill dinky insects when the idea of fantasy is to slay humongous dragons. Hence, my interpretation of how the current swarm attacks: the frogs all die. It only hurts when they spatter you with little poisonous intestines. They might even be soulless bodies of frogs, since none are hopping around.

F Human Vigilante/3

As an update, I added a Drawback to Edge; Pride. I added that before getting whomped in round three by the toadie, but now I think it really fits.

Did you add a second background skill? (You get +2 SP for background skills if you have a drawback.)

Sorry you got clobbered! I was trying to ease you back into the game, so I had the brute go after Henrietta instead of you. And of course the brute rolls a One while the 2CR regular boggard rolls a 20.

Boggards have crappy DEX (-1) so Feint doesn't lower their AC. But the Feint (succeeded both times—you just didn't beat the 14 AC last round, even with a flank bonus), so the extra damage makes the Feint worth rolling!

You can look up boggards and boggard brutes for Toadie and Bully stats. I modify enemies, but mostly HP and I add or remove abilities. (Added some Summoner Unchained spells for royal frogmen.)

Male LG Human (Taldan) Wizard 5 | HP: 72/72 | AC: 15 | CMB: +6/+1, CMD: 21 | F: +7, R: +10, W: +7 | Init: +5 | Perc: +13/+15, SM: +2/+4 | Speed 30ft | Acid Dart: 9/9 | Spells: 1st 5/5 2nd 4/4 3rd 2/2 | Mage Armor - Shield

Wil we have down time for spell prep? Should I conservative spells or lay into the Toadies?

Also, I realized in my haste to protect the healer I may have greased my only path onto the ship. I'm not sure how everyone was standing in relation to each other.

If I'm stuck outside alone with the Toadies I think I can handle them on own but I'd have to blow through all my spells to do it. I'd be useless in the next fight.
