Unable to decipher the runes on the glabrezu's chest as the massive demon leads its abyssal summons, Lancyn quaffs a potion of bull's strength, then heals some of his wounds and turns his attention to the nabasu demon the party has been ordered to take down.
The nabasu demon flaps its great bat-like wings flying close enough to see its foes about 20 feet above the stone floor and utters a guttural incantation, pointing at all of you.

As the nabasu completes its casting, Brayne finds himself frozen in place and unable to move or act.
Kulga and Lancyn manage to shrug off the arcane powers of the demon. Kulga flies up above the nabasu's head, trying to smash in its skull with her shield. The demon ducks, evading the blow.
But as Lancyn uses the dwarf's distraction to seize the opportunity to head for the stone steps, the nabasu roars.

Giving her companions a second chance to shake off the nabasu's spell, Nella channels a clarifying burst of positive energy.
Taking advantage of the extended reach of his enlarged form, Caller of the Eastern Storm swings his equally enlarged earthbreaker at the demon, but it proves to be an illusive target.
The nabasu turns and flies to intercept Lancyn passing through the rubble on the way to the stairs up to the platform where the glabrezu Katazuul is leading the ritual to open the abyssal portal. The nabasu sinks its razor-sharp fangs into the paladin.

As the demon turns to head off Lancyn, Kulga and Caller of the Eastern Storm try to hit it in the back. While Caller narrowly misses, Kulga lands a solid blow with her cold iron morningstar.
While Brayne pounds the paving stones, trying to catch up to the nabasu, Nella casts a spell to ensure the accuracy of the bolt she then loads into her crossbow.
Caller and Kulga pursue the demon. Again, the power of Caller's swing comes at the expense of his accuracy and his earthbreaker whiffs past the nabasu's skull. Kulga fares better, and lands another crunching blow with her morningstar.

Then Kulga pushes the death-and-destruction switch on her cold iron morningstar. With a single, lethal crunch, she penetrates the nabasu's ribcage and the blunt-force trauma stills its demonic heart.

A moment later, a brass horn sounds a triumphant fanfare to announce that the fiend-flesh army has been routed. The march back to Absalom is a jubilant one, though rumors are running wild through the streets as to exactly who the invaders were, what they wanted, and why undead spies sprang to life shortly after beacons appeared around Skyreach. Despite rampant speculation of the Grand Lodge’s involvement in the invasion, the citizens as a whole recognize the heroism with which Pathfinder agents personally averted disaster and rode at the vanguard of the city’s victorious forces. Absalom’s primarch Lord Gyr—whom few remember seeing during the attack—remains silent on the matter, though Siege Lord Wynsal Starborn delivers a speech within the hour personally recognizing the Society’s key role in protecting the City at the Center of the World.
