The lizard man slides the horsehair fez tail to the back, so he can see the horizon and the mountains and then he pulls out his compass and says,"Well, you ride two days north and then you can easily turn west until you see the next set of mountains and then turn south again. That should be another day or so's ride and then there should be another valley which should take you to Talw and from there you should be able to follow the arroyo or hopefully river to Muluk, if everything goes well, you should be there with a week or ten days."

Zairiah packs her purchases and continues. When it gets too hot she takes out her portable spring, lays it out and it starts bubbling out water, which she dips a kerchief in before laying it over the top of her head and then encourages others to do the same, and starts watering the camels so they don't get heatstroke.
I don't know if camels can get heatstroke, but you know, it sounded good...

"This is unbearable," says Fadilah, waving her hand to fan her face without success. "We need some shade. These cacti will be of no help."
She is so badly affected that she sends her gen out to find a spell...

"We found one djinnia in a coconut. Could we find her sister here?" he jests, passing by the cacti.

Having failed to fetch a spell to change the weather and resorted to using her staff, Fadilah can now focus on helping the team.

After a brief conversation with her gen, she says, "I can raise a dome that will protect against the extreme heat, but we can only fit a small number of people or camels in it. I have to remain inside or the magic of the dome will collapse. Can we find a defensible spot? Once I raise the dome, it cannot be moved, so we would have to make sure it's in a place that we don't need to worry about being attacked by something."

"That would be wise, Lady Fadilah," Ibn Taaib says. "I would advise placing it within this clearing between the cacti. I can await outside."
Ibn Taaib uses his skills as a desert survivalist to set up a tent in the hard ground, sheltering himself using the stone and plant cover.

"Since I can't move the dome after casting it, we should make sure those cacti aren't going to sneak over here and poke us in our sleep."

"A thousand apologies, prickly friends!" he says behind his shield, taking a central position to protect his party (removing a long thorn from his flesh with a wince). "I mistook thee for regular cacti. We wish only shelter from the heat! I ask thee for forgiveness in the name of the Enlightened Gods!"
I negotiate with the plants.

Frackit Whips out his Shield and begins to proture a dagger. After such a display of spines shot at the Shiek he moves to find a good spot to get decent cover.
The Gnome respected a good conversation, but here in these lands it seemed many perferred diplomacy over overt action. Might be the whole Grand Caliph and Lore Giver thing.

Fadilah backs up, hopefully out of cactus range, and waits for the team to figure out if they're fighting or negotiating. She'd have to ditch the tiny hut spell to fetch a battle spell, after all, and why waste it?

Zairiah stays with the spring in case she has to snatch it up (if the cactus headed towards her moves close enough to take the spring rather than just drink the water flowing out of it), but she urges the others (NPCs) in the caravan to move back towards Fadilah and take the camels with them, trying to ensure they remain out of range of the angry Cacti.
Go, go... way over there by Fadilah. We'll handle this, but take the camels and keep everything safe.
