Rather than drag this fight out. I hate the morale blocks in these scenarios.
The goblins refuse surrender, so you kill them all.
Combat Over
Darven (1 Damage)
Carini (2 Damage)
Darven finds the keys and applies it to the cuffs holding Skagni and the other captives. Freeing the slaves results in cheers of excitement. Despite their malnourishment and fatigue, they find the energy to give a hooray to the party. Rognvald Skagni in particular, is thrilled to see you all come to the rescue. "See men? These are true Pathfinders, not those frauds who attacked your home. I told you they would rescue us!"
"These men are from the Blood Ram tribe," he starts. "They said Pathfinders raided their village, killed everyone they could find and captured the rest here. I told them that didn't make sense. Told them these Shadow Lodge scum probably pulled that stunt off. But now they see what true Pathfinders are made of!" He cheers.
"Do you have the documents I requested?" He inquires. "Excellent, excellent! I'll have plenty of time to research them. But I think you need to get to the Keep of the Huskarl King as soon as you can. The Shadow Lodge leader spoke of some grand kind of weapon there. I don't know the details of this weapon, but I do know where the keep is. I'll gladly give you directions there."
There is a door on the south, still closed. "I haven't seen inside the room. Neither did that...thing." Skagni glances at the fallen goblins. "I don't know what's in there."
A small, unlocked wooden chest sits in the northeast corner behind the supply boxes.
You mission is accomplished, but... do you check behind the door?
Darven Kinock
|
What kind of pathfinders would we be if we didn't look behind that door?
"Where is the Keep of the Huskarl King?" Darven ask of Skagni.
When he notices the door, "You guys want to take a look?" Darven says approaching it.

Spellcraft vs. Loot(DC=18): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Spellcraft vs. Potions(DC=16): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Spellcraft vs. Wand(DC=16): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Spellcraft vs. Scroll(DC=17): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Hannar shares any information he may learn with the group...
"Ready when everyone else is."
Carini
|
"I was thinking you'd never ask." Carini responds with a smile as she too turns towards the last door. She studies it herself quickly, then waits to see if anyone else wants to investigate it before she opens the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Hortensia Gallonica

Hortensia checks out the various potions.
Take 10 on perception for 17
These are basic curatives. Do you lot need any healing? she asks the captives? If not I suggest you withdraw to upstairs while we deal with whatever shadow lodge scum remains. How is everyone else? Any more healing needed before we finish this?
Hortensia heads over to the door and again tries to activate her shield wand.
UMD: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Kavor Doan
|
Kavor Doan checks the wand.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
"A wand of healing."
"Yes, let's go check out that door!"
| GM chadius |
"We were lucky." Skagni coughs. "We're starving, but uninjured. I think they kept some of the dried food, here-" The other three men crowd around Skagni and reach in as soon as he opens the food storage.
"We're gonna get a meal and huddle next to that fireplace. It smells like dead beetles in there but it's a lot more comfortable than chains." The four men leave while you face the southern passage. "I'll tell you more about the Keep of the Huskarl King once you're out of there."
Upon opening the door, the blast of cold from the room beyond is sharp and shocking. The room seems dimly lit by a soft blue light and the floor twinkles as though wet. In the south wall stands a tall, slim door made of a dark, bluish metal and carved with hundreds of runes and sigils. Looking up, the room disappears into a cold, cloudy haze.
The floor is slippery, so any Acrobatics checks increase by 5. Additionally each square costs two squares of movement to travel, and you need an Acrobatics check of 10 to run or charge.
Feel free to rearrange your marching order.
Hortensia Gallonica

I am good with my spot.
| GM chadius |
A white dragon flutters down from the mist and screams something in draconic.

Darven: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Hannar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Kavor Doan

Kavor Doan tries to casts Bull's Strength on himself. 01-35 ASF: 1d100 ⇒ 37
He succeeds!
Then he says "Why fight on its turf? Back up!"
And he moves back.
| GM chadius |
Hannar and Kavor back out of the way. For Kavor it's a simple strategy. But for Hannar, the problem is simpler: It's a dragon. And dragons breathe.
The creature drops from the ceiling and breathes a blast of cold air, covering Darven, Hortensia and Carini in frozen shards.
That's c-c-cold! Reflex Save DC 16 for half: 6d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2) = 18
Carini

Reflex DC 16: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Shirt reroll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Carini, frozen to the core and barely able to move, has no trouble following Kavor's advice. "... ... S-s-s-soooo... c-c-c-c-cooooooold..."
Move: 15'
Hortensia Gallonica
|
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Hortensia shivers as the cold engulfs her, coating her armour in frost. She quickly backs away drawing a wand as she does so.
Sooooo cold...
and then taps Carini with it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Darven listens to the dwarf and falls back outside the doorway and readies an attack when the beast comess into the open.

Hortensia Gallonica

Hortensia gives a grateful smile of thanks to Loni. Carini still needs help more than I though.
| GM chadius |
To keep things moving, I'll delay Hannar (since he fell back, anyway.)
Do not rush blindly into the maw of a dragon, for you are tasty and good with catsup.
Wise words ring in your mind as you retreat and heal.
The beast roars and rushes at you. But as it reaches the door, it slows down, as if it just noticed a wall instead of a doorway. You're not completely sure what to make of it, but the dragon does not leave the room. It turns away and flies around the room, eventually perching on the eastern wall.
Round 3
Enemy
Hannar
Kavor
Hortensia (1 damage)
Carini (9 damage)
Loni & Drootina
Darven (9 damage)
Hortensia Gallonica

Hmm, the beast seems incapable of leaving the chamber. We could simply leave it here, it is likely to perish without the shadow lodge to support it...
With that she again activates her wand to heal Carini.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Of course we could just return tomorrow, when we might be more prepared to fight the beast.
Kavor Doan
|
"Run from a fight? Perish the thought! I am prepared enough! Though the icy ground is annoying, I will manage. Who has the scroll of Flaming Sphere that we found?"
Kavor Doan casts False Life.
01-35 ASF: 1d100 ⇒ 94
temp HP: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Then he draws a potion of Enlarge Person and takes a 5' step.
Carini
|
Feeling much more herself, Carini responds as her body temperature rises. "I'm with Kavor." She draws a wand out of her bag. "You don't need to expend your own resources, Hortensia, though I'm grateful for your help. Heal me up with this, and I'll be ready to head back in there."
We're still in initiative, so I won't roll for any charges from Carini's wand yet, but it's available for whomever helps heal Carini back to full.
"Let's just make sure we plan our attack, now that we know what we're facing. Get in quick, spread out, and target that thing with all that we've got."
Hortensia Gallonica
|
Can we tell how high the cold room is?
Hannar the Wild
|
Upon seeing the Dragon's reaction to the doorway, Hannar casts Detect Magic and peers around...
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
"Does anyone understand what that thing is saying?"
Loni~
|
"Well, I'm not gonna be the first one in..."
Move and Standard
Loni heads over to Caniri and cures her again. (Darven was too far for him to cure XD)
Cure Light Wounds (Caniri): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
| GM chadius |
Edit: The ceiling is 20 feet up, before you see a layer of mist similar to the Obscuring Mist spell.
You all prepare to reenter and assault the dragon. But you aren't sure where she went. She couldn't have left the room...
Round 4

Carini, guisarme at the ready, swiftly moves into the room and immediately hugs the wall, staying close and heading the opposite direction as Kavor. Her eyes pore over the clouded ceiling, looking for any sign of the dragon.
Double move: 40'
Hortensia Gallonica
|
Hortensia moves forward and begins a rousing speech about the value of dragon hide armour and its impact on local economies.
Inspire courage for +1/1
Loni~
|
(Since Loni is before Darven, I would have moved to where he was to heal him before he goes in)
Loni moves to Darven and heals him.
Wand of Cure Light Wounds (Darven): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
| GM chadius |
You enter the room, careful to spread out and reduce the chance of getting caught in a dragon's breath.
Carini keeps her guisarme ready and her eyes on the ceiling. She hears it first: some kind of skittering as the dragon emerges from the fog down to ground level. It inhales again.
A cone of frosty particles blast out, catching Darven, Kavor and Hortensia. Hannar and Carini can feel the intense cold radiating from the dragon's maw.
C-c-cold Damage: 6d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 4, 3, 2) = 15

The ceiling is 20 feet up, before you see a layer of mist similar to the Obscuring Mist spell.

Kavor Doan
|
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Kavor Doan's False Life spell absorbs the damage and dissipates.
He drinks the potion of Enlarge Person and moves 10' towards the dragon. As a swift action, he charges his axe with arcane power.
AC only drops by 1 - I was armor-limited on Dex before.
Hannar the Wild

Hannar move, raises his hand, and a ray of fire comes forth to attack the dragon...

Loni thinks for a bit, then decides a good idea would be to try to get rid of the fog. He converts a Barkskin into a Summon Monster 2, intent on summoning a small air elemental to help clear out the fog.
