Gunter Gruden |

A strange feeling overcame the boy as Lysander he was called 'chosen one'. It was bizarre to hear such a term, as back in the sect, no one quite called him as such. It was not as if he could say thank you, or really acknowledge the other in any way, since Marvo seemed to be rather displeased with any sort of contact he made. The man would have to be satisfied with a small smile and a nod.
The veil was quite lovely.. And he could see the symbol of his dear god on the. And there was a symbol there he recognized.. If these people were correct, and that the symbols could be taken off, then it would be wise for him to have that particular one.. He reached over to touch Katrin this time, toughing her hand ever so lightly.
Excuse me.. But if what they say works, can I have the Unholy symbol, the star shaped one? I should be able to use any of my spells with it.. He quickly moved away again, since the woman seemed much more irritable than everyone else. He prayed to his dear god that she wouldn't try to lash at him! Gunter was fairly certain he wouldn't stand a chance.

Katrin Whitebranch |

Katrin literally snaps and snarls at him like a chained dog. "Touch me again without my permission and I'll feed you your own member!" she growls.
After glaring at him for a few seconds she turns to the others, "Mute says he wants the unholy symbol...Can work his magic with it."

Lysander Tremayne |

Lysander nods back as the oracle nods and smiles to him, and he looks to the veil as the others mention a possibility of its usage. "I am also capable with picks, and may be able to release myself and the rest from these bonds."
The glistening man frowns as Katrin snaps at Gunter, and his eyes turn an icy color. "Hold your tongue when speaking to a Chosen. His life is worth more than all ours together."
If the tools are passed his way, Lysander immediately begins to pick at his manacles.

Soulknives with the cutthroat archetype, as Lysander has, have the opportunity to get trapfinding starting at 2nd level, and I'll probably pick it up then--unless you're definitely getting it at 3rd and it looks like we'll survive that long without it.

Darsis Valdane |

Darsis narrows his eyes at Lysander, his jaw tightening, but he pauses and relaxes before speaking,
"To you maybe, but I did not choose him, and your judgment means nothing to me. Do not assume others care what you value. That said I have no care about such contact either, feel free to relay messages through me should you wish."
He then nods at the veil and gestures to Lysander, reasoning that anyone must release the others to avoid being given up.
Grrrgrrr we're all scary badasses, ;)

Taemon'dow |

Grrrgrrr we're all scary badasses, ;)
Damn straight.
Carefully, Taemon'dow moves to peel the star shaped symbol of Asmodeus from the veil, waiting to see what form it might take.
"I think we might want to wait before attempting our escape. There will be a lot more to getting out of here than just escaping these chains. Having our efforts discovered too early will put an end to our chances of eventual escape. I advise patience. When we have formulated a plan to escape these walls, as well as these chains, then we should act."

Taemon'dow |

Taemon'dow turn the unholy symbol in his hands, reverently. He eyes the chosen down the line of prisoners, and nods to him.
"Soon. This is too large to easily conceal however."
Taemon'dow will try to reapply the symbol to the veil, to see if it can be reinserted again.

Darsis Valdane |

Darsis nods,
"Watching and waiting has its place, but do does striking swiftly. What advantage might we gain by waiting? We can unlock our cuffs and still wear the manacles to deceive the guards, that way we are ready should an opportunity present itself and will not have to spend precious time freeing ourselves. It might be wise to wait for a time when there are fewer guards, and for preference the cover of dakness."

Taemon'dow |

"Ah, too bad. Silent one, I suppose you'd best be the one to conceal this then. Taemon'dow passes the unholy symbol down to the mute chosen.
To Darsis he says, "There is some wisdom to that. I will agree to it, but no one should act until the moment is right. No one is to do anything that will get us all caught. Make sure all are aware before you move."
Are we chained to the wall, or just to each other?
Taemon'dow will pull the thieves tools from the veil and pass them to Lysander.
"A bottle, a sack, two daggers, a window; one wonders how that would work. Will it create a window on any wall I wonder? A rope, a stack of... marbles perhaps, and a lantern. I see no need for any of these now, and they are best hidden where they are. Do any of you feel differently?"

Darsis Valdane |

"A dagger can be easily concealed. I say give them to those who can use them best. I would have one, there are few who know how to cut a man better than I and though a dagger is far from my first choice I could use such a weapon to good effect."

Darsis Valdane |

Yes, but you can take 20 with sleight of hand and hiding an object on your body is specifically the only use that can get over a ten in without ranks.
"If they are searching us well enough to find a dagger on me that will be the time to use it. We already have the holy symbol out, we have already taken the risk, so we may as well reap the rewards. Besides you can do anything well if you take your time."
Darsis takes the dagger, weighing it in his hand for a moment before he begins carefully trying out different places within his clothing for concealment. In the end he carefully tears off a strip of his rags and binds the dagger to stomach against iron hard muscle.
Taking 20 for a 21 Sleight of Hand to conceal the dagger. Darsis also has quick draw so he can get it to hand as a move rather than a standard action which could be handy.

Gunter Gruden |

I figure this will be alright, if not, let me know. I don't think I need to roll anything..
Personally, Gunter didn't really like being called chosen; having himself put up on a pedestal higher than others made him feel quite awkward. The reaction that he received from the woman certainly did startle him, and he found himself pressed up a bit further against the wall. What in the world was wrong with her?! Certainly, yes, they were in an odd and very unfortunate situation, but had done nothing at all to cause her any harm! Was someone as young as he was something to be intimidated by? It didn't matter, no, and he did not really care about it one way or another. Once freed, he planned to return to his sect.
The symbol reached his hands and he judged the size of it. It was small enough to hide in the one place he figured was safe on his person. The guards already knew of his mutism, so they wouldn't check his mouth, atleast, that's what he was going to assume. Without another sound, he allowed it to slip into his mouth, closing it and shifting it around with his tongue until it sat so that it looked almost normal. Not a permanent solution, but the best one he had.

Lysander Tremayne |

Lysander nods as the tools reach him, and judging by touch, he picks the proper devices to allow him to escape his lock. And you scoffed that I should have you memorize the feel of your tools--see the wisdom I gave you, boy!
I can either use the roll I did above in my last post, or use the below roll...
Disable Device: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Lysander Tremayne |

Damn it, filth, just how useless are you?
With a sigh, Lysander puts the picks back into their case and passes the tools back down to Darsis. "May you have better success than I," he whispers.

Katrin Whitebranch |

No offense intended Gunter. She's obviously got a thing about being touched. Especially by men. :P
Katrin ignores Lysander's warning, keeping one eye on the mute. She says to Taemon'dow, "I'd have a dagger as well if you'll part with it."

Mavro |

Mavro cocks his head to the side. "Not enough weapons for everything then? Fair enough. Some might have to get their hands dirty. Get those shackles open quickly now, before the guards begin to suspect anything.
Once we take them out we'll have a bit more breathing room. We'll actually be able to formulate a plan in confidence."

Darsis Valdane |

Darsis takes the thieves tools and begins to use them with slow patient movements striving for stealth as he does,
"I will be distracted keep watch for me."
He releases himself first, then Lysander having the other man aide him in the delicate work until all of the cell mates are free.
Taking 10 on stealth on all for a base 15 before distance, etc.

After five successful unlockings and a fair bit more failures, a guard enters the cell. Her baton out, she looks for any sign of escaping prisoners. She very clearly fails to notice Darsis's work on the cell locks. Glaring at them, all she can say is "Quiet down, prisoners!" After another few moments of inspection, she re-enters the guardsroom.
After another few successful unlockings, it seems that everyone in the cell is now free.

Katrin Whitebranch |

"Next time they feed us, they're going to have a bad day." Katrin whispers with a grin once she's unlocked. "Thanks." she continues to Darsis. She takes a few moments to stretch, and then gets back into position and makes it look like she's locked up.

Darsis Valdane |

Darsis lips twitch up ever so slightly into the barest of smiles,
"Their last day. I ask for the first sword we find and its scabbard, I a swordsman and though I can fight well enough with other weapons I excel with a proper blade and scabbard. I can probably get the door open to, so I would suggest we strike at night, preferably just after the guards change shift, that way we have longer before our escape will be discovered."
Sense Motive on Lysander see post below: 1d20 ⇒ 18

Lysander Tremayne |

Lysander helps Darsis as much as he can, though tandem lock-picking is not his strong suit; he's much more used to working alone. That needs to change, boy--your only hope of survival and escape is to join forces with these new allies.
"There," Lysander says as the last of the prisoners are released, and having held his breath as the guard walked in. "And if I may say so, we don't have time to wait until they feed us. We need to decide on a plan and act quickly."
The glistening man looks at the veil for a moment and shakes his head. "I don't need the dagger... I--"
Do you tell them about your skill? Do you dare, filth?
"...I managed to keep a weapon hidden," Lysander finishes. "I can fight effectively on my own."
Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Taemon'dow |

"I can use the dagger to good affect. I believe I'll keep the second one for myself. I still think it is unwise to act in haste. We have no idea where we are or how to get out of here. With a little patience we might discover far more about our circumstances."

Gunter Gruden |

With his wrists free, Gunter allowed his full mouth to smile, and took just a moment to stretch. He took the opportunity to quietly move to Lysander's side, after the guard had left once more. He seemed the best person to use as a translator, as he was the only one to at least take kindly to him. Gunter placed his hand on the other's shoulder, having an idea about how they could escape.
I think I have a way we could at least escape out of this cell.. If we could get a guard to come over, I can cast a spell to have him attack his ally. That way, we could have at least one of them down, and overpower the second, and then get their keys from them. Could you tell the other's that?

Mavro |

Finally, as Mavro is released from his bonds he quietly drops his chains to the ground and stretches, back, exercising his sore limbs without making too much noise.
"I agree with Darsis and Taemon." he whispers. We don't have the luxury of acting rashly. One false move and it's back in change. Nightfall will bring the cover of darkness as well as bring in new guards. They may be less tired just getting onto duty, but if their bodies are discovered it'll put the entire complex on alert."

Lysander Tremayne |

Well, boy? Your brilliant bluff failed you, and now your loyalty has been called to question. Will you tell them, or will you--
Fortunately, Lysander's dilemma is interrupted by the touch and communication of Gunter. The gleaming man turns to the oracle as his mind opens, and he gives a small smile and nods. Of course, we'll help. What is your name, Chosen?
"The Chosen says he has a way out of the cell. He knows magic to force a guard to attack his ally, if we can draw a guard here once more... This would leave us with at least one fewer guard, and we could overpower the charmed one, retrieving the keys."
Lysander turns to Darsis. "Perhaps now isn't the best time to discuss just how I maintain possession of my tools; I'll explain when we're free. For now, suffice to say I have means of defending myself."

Gunter Gruden |

Please, don't call me chosen, it's just a title, and not really one I hear too often. It doesn't seem to call any respect here either, so you don't need to use it. My name is Gunter, I apologize for not introducing myself earlier, but as stated before, I have issues with speaking. We can have a more formal introduction once we escape, but for now, we'll keep this brief and focus on the task at hand, okay?
Gunter did, infact, enjoy the little smile's he received from Lysander, simply for the fact that it was a more simple sign, than the lashing out he'd gotten from the woman from earlier. With his point across, he returned to his position, to wait and see if the other's had something against his Idea, or if that was to be rejected.

Darsis Valdane |

"Lot of men think that, betraying us would be a good way to test your theory," Darsis says, meeting Lysander's eye, but electing to leave it there - mostly because he can think of no viable reason for betrayal, unless someone suspects our Lady benefactor.
"Seems we are agreed, we wait until the night and a shift change before contemplating action."

Taemon'dow |

"Agreed. Keep a close eye out during the day, and do your best to remember every detail of what you see. It may come in handy soon."
To Katrin he says, "I was taken into a hall, down a ways and into another room. I didn't see any other guards, and there was little of note outside." GM, did I see anything else of interest?
GM, I think we're ready to hear the description of the rest of the day.

cosmiy |

You caught a glimpse of an ogre in one of the cells, but he didn't say anything and you only saw him for about a second or two.
Nothing much happens for the next few hours. After the middle of the afternoon, two new guards come in- a scared looking new recruit, and a slightly older man, who seems to be showing him the ropes. With the recruit's ineptitude and the older man focusing on him instead of the prisoners, combined with the fact that the prisoners had ample warning from guard conversation to slip back into chains or manacles, neither notice that the prisoners are technically unlocked. They give the prisoners some awful-looking gruel, and the older man takes the younger back to the guardsroom, where he proceeds to tell him long, dull stories about his first few days of being a prison guard. Soon night comes, or at least you suppose it has in this windowless place.

Darsis Valdane |

Darsis produces the picks and moves silently over to the door beckoning Lysander over and handing him some of the tools so they can fiddle with the lock in unison, taking care to be as quiet as possible. He nods in satisfaction as their first effort slides the bolt slowly to.
Waiting a while for any indication the guards have heard he carefully opens the door and frees his dagger. Then he nods to Taemon and slips out into the corridor.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Going to assume that is sufficient since these things are usually in increments of 5 and we cannot make a 30. Can always retcon.
Can we get a clearer idea of the layout? Is the guard's room visible from the corridor, etc.?

cosmiy |

The lock quickly opens with a soft click. Out of the cell, there are four other cells in the cellblock- one of them accompanied by the previously mentioned ogre. A large, hairy creature dressed in only a loincloth, he doesn't seem to notice the escapers- yet. Other than the doors to various cells, there's one door to the left, leading to a room nobody has seen (yet) and one door to the south. That door is where the guardsroom is, where Taemon'dow was shuffled through before being escorted into the meeting room where he met Tiadora.

Darsis Valdane |

Allowing time for anyone else to slip out of the cell Darsis stalks forward, staying in the shadows and treading carefully knife in hand. He moves to the southern guardsroom door and presses his ear to it and listening for a long moment.
Taking 10 on Stealth for a 15 plus distance and door modifiers, etc.

"And then that crazy broad came up to me and shanked me with the comb! Really did me one good. It took three of us to bring the witch down, but eventually we got her back in the chains."says the older voice.
"Uh huh."yawns the younger guard, clearly not interested.
"She was a pretty one, that witch. Too bad that they all got to burn in the end."
There's a bit of a pause before the older guard speaks again.
"Hey boy, do you want some whiskey?"
"No thank you, sir. I don't drink."
"Ah, you'll soon learn to in this place."

Darsis Valdane |

Assuming this door is not locked.
Gesturing for the others to come forward Darsis points at the mute then at the door miming opening it - judging the man to be least likely to want to get up close and personal.
If Gunter complies he rushes into the room, charging one of the men if its possible to do so dagger at the ready.
Trying to set up a surprise round, where hopefully Gunter will open the door and we can all act. If Darsis can charge he will.

cosmiy |

And here's initiative rolls.
Lysander: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Mavro: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Katrin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Gunter: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Taemon'dow:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Darsis:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Guards1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
So I suppose everyone's in group 1, before the guards, meaning that everyone gets to move before them in addition to the surprise round- two full rounds of actions before these guys can even react.
From what you can see if the room it is large and square, with a huge fireplace on one end. The younger guard sits at one end of a large table, and the older guard on the other, drinking his whisky. There are a large set of stairs that go downstairs. The two guards seem to not even notice the door opening, or are too shocked to realize that such a thing is happening.

Darsis Valdane |

At the fore Darsis bursts into action as the door opens surging across to plunge his blade into the old guards back, before darting round into a flanking position with one of his peers and grabbing the gawking man's hair and yanking his head back as he slits the man's throat with a viciously efficient slash.
Charge: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 Damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Flank: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 Damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Crit Conf: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 Extra Damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Damn, I could get to like this favored enemy stuff!

Taemon'dow |

Taemon'dow rushes in silently, without unleashing the war cry burgeoning in his throat. He brings the dagger down hard, but without malice, aiming to end the guard quickly and painlessly.
PA: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
His first blow coming off awkwardly as he drew the dagger from under his ragged clothes, Taemon'dow resets for a second blow, across from Darsis.
PA: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 61d4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
From bad to worse...at least he helped with the flank.

cosmiy |

Darsis's dagger digs into the old guard's back, spurting out blood, but as it digs in again it digs much deeper, piercing his heart. He crashes onto the table, dead. His whiskey tips over and spills all over the table. The new guard gapes in horror that the man he just met (and heard the entire life story of) is dead.
Taemon'dow is not quite as lucky in his attack, but he does manage to aid Darsis's a little.

Gunter Gruden |

Surely, the noise caused by his group would alert the guards, along with the other prisoners around him. As he was quite... Vulnerable at this moment, and he thought that using his spells would be inconvenient while the other's charged ahead, he gave a look around the cellblock to see if there was anything potential useful around.
Perception:1d20 ⇒ 15

cosmiy |

The young oracle's eyes rest on the ogre in the heavily fortified cell, a large creature who looks cut and bruised. By looking closely, Gunter can notice a small set of horns underneath the Ogre's unruly black mane. As he looks, the Ogre finally notices the group's escape attempt.
"What does the little 'un want? Are you and the others tryin' to escape?"

Mavro |

Mavro tries to let the others in before him. There isn't much he can do without his aspect and so decides to assess the tactical situation before leaping in.
I'm just delaying to see if Lysander and Katrin need help with the second guard. I've got corrosive touch but I'd prefer to not use a spell that makes people cry out in agony as their flesh is slowly eroded unless i have to.
