So, sounds like we're not gonna be doing Core... :P
But, I do have an idea... since we are potentially talking about three concurrent games (is this too much?)
Group 1 (Gunari, Miro, etc) - Damien GMs scenarios
Group 2 (Thornkeep) - Jack GM's Thornkeep (and some other stuff) until done. Then perhaps more modules?
Group 3: Starts with The Confirmation, Wisp, First Steps -- rotating GMs (we have 7 potential GMs, after all!) This will be a third set of characters.
Ideas? Comments?

Damien Wilmann |

I'm actually struggling a bit with the number of PbP games. When I start GMing, it will get trickier. I'd be loathe to have a permanent 3rd group. I certainly couldn't run Group 1 and Group 3 at any given time.
Most of the reason I wanted an "alt" group was to have a fall-back group for when we run out of scenarios to play with our main group or to play some new lower level scenarios when they come out. So, Group 3 would be the alts for Group 1 when Group 1 hasn't got a scenario to play. At least, that's my 2 cents.
If everyone wants to play a 3rd group (and someone else GMs), I think I'd probably play rather than not.

Papasteve08 |

I will be honest - 3 concurrent games worries me a bit. My initial, gut reaction was leaning towards no. I was under the impression that this 3rd set of characters would be for downtime between our "main group's" games - ie when we run out of current scenarios and are waiting for another to be released. If I am wrong, please correct me!
I am cool with 3 groups, if the 3rd one is our "fill in because we blow through other scenarios so fast we need something else to do" group.
I am afraid this sounds selfish, so please don't take it that way, but I am currently playing in 6 PbPs (!) - 3 with this group. I just don't want my quality/effort of posting to suffer by trying to do too much, and even worse, I don't want to hold this group up because I am trying to keep up with too much...
As a side note, as those other games end, I will not be looking for replacements... moving forward I hope to just stay with this group and whatever we decide to do. (GenCon here we come!)

Damien Wilmann |

On another note... the We Be Goblins! game made me realise that I haven't fully applied my Chronicle sheets to Xûll yet. He's taking advantage of the the old 1st level switcharoo to change from a sorcerer into a bloodrager.
I was initially thinking of an unarmed strike / combat maneuver kinda build, but they get outclassed very quickly in the long term. I didn't really want to go two-handed weapon style because I've already got Lort. I just wanted to try something that was a bit more bat-sh*t crazy than a magus.
Thoughts on appropriate feats/builds? Or is the class too new? I really, some how, some way want to make an unarmed character work without a ki pool (or equivalent). It would be awesome if this could be a bloodrager (eg. with the bloodline that gives him claws but he fights unarmed the rest of the time). Just thought I'd ask for advice. Everyone on the interwebs is married to Primalist, but it's banned in PFS. They are then married to two-handed weapon style. Maybe there's a clue in there somewhere...

I've got done ideas for you damo, I'll post them when I have more time to type. My barbalchemist is right up your alley, could make it work with a sorcerian (sorc/barb) too....

Sorry for my lack of posts. Just got back form the happiest place on Earth. I tried to stay current but I will be slammed at work too today.
I agree core sounds cool, but if I wanted to play Core only, I would dig my old red box out of my parent's attic. It was a steep learning curve from 3.0 -> Pathfinder, and Pathfinder is bloated, but everyone games for their own reasons. I am happy in our current plans.

"I just wanted to try something that was a bit more bat-sh*t crazy than a magus.
Damien, you mean guano crazy. Anyone of those classes can kill bad things dead, or dead things that lived dead, but now live."

So next up: some OSR gaming? :)
I like the Core only idea for two reasons: You get to play favourite scenarios again, and you'll have to leave out some cheese from your characters... Then again, most of my character ideas are non-core...

In other news, the first likely 2-3 days of By Way of Bloodcove will be roleplaying. In order to get through it quicker (and with Jyri's permission) who would be up for starting it a few days before Paths We Choose winds up?
Sure, I'm fine with that. As long as it's legal. The final part for Paths took off slower than I estimated, but it shouldn't take that long anyway.

Damien Wilmann |

It'll be legal. We'll just make sure the "official" start to the scenario isn't until after Paths finishes. The chronicles will be issued and applied in the correct order. PbP is a pretty grey area within PFS, though. There have been some clarifications from Michael Brock, but I think we'll be on the white side of grey. If you are concerned, I can just hold off entirely.

Damien Wilmann |

Xull is strictly not going to play in anything anyone is running in this group (at least for a long while yet). I'm going to try him out on someone else's PbP and then bring him to my real life games.
As for the new characters, I wouldn't worry about being too melee heavy. With 6 characters, balance can be found with whatever class you like. :-)

![]() |

I think I have convinced myself to try an investigator, who will be ranged focused Instead of the barbarian alchemist... These characters likely won't get used often, so I wouldn't worry to much about perfect party balance

Damien Wilmann |

Do you mean Inquisitor? Or are you going to play an homage to Ibid? Also... still happy to receive comments about Xull

![]() |

I am posting to fast for my own good... Yes I meant inquisitor. Yeesh....

![]() |

SO, for the level 1's what do we have?
I am open to play anything, so not a big deal. I could try a "switch hitter" ranger, or perhaps some sort of caster.
I'll have fun with anything. :D
On another note... Dierdre (my halfing druid) has finally made use of a feat... through 4 levels, she had never cast a summon spell, even though she has Spell Focus (Conjuration) and Augmented Summoning. Her 5th level feat was Natural Spell... so on Sunday, she turned into a dinosaur, and cast thunderstomp while in that form!
Still no summoning, though she "has heard that it was something she could do!"

![]() |

Damien, been meaning to post this for a while, totally digging the story on xull.... Love it.
Edit: I am fleshing out the idea I have for an inquisitor... That is what I would like to roll with for our extra characters if that won't step on anyone's toes. Karma, go ahead with that melee idea you had :)

Have I done this already...?
You know you play too much PbP when...
You buy an iPhone 6 Plus (instead of a regular iPhone 6) primarily because it makes the Paizo forums easier to read (no zoom needed!).
-----
Even so, my sausage fingers cause so many damn accidental posts it's ridiculous. Just happy for the edit and delete buttons! :-)

![]() |

Is there any Wayfinder-like app for iOS? Typing on ipad is ok except for the forum tags. Getting those [-brackers is annoying..
BTW, how many 1-5 scenarios are we planning to do still. I was planning to give the GM chronicle to Amaranti (since I don't have anyone else in range..), that would ding him into lvl 4. Meaning he could still play six tier 1-5 games.

![]() |

OMG - never knew that was their, Painlord!
You rock. So glad you are lurking!
@Karma - we're doing Bloodcove (not a 1-5, but puts Gunari at 4.2), and then the trilogy, for sure. Amaranti is one behind Gunari (I think a few are there). If needed, I can play Trask (or another character) to keep Gunari from dinging, if needed.
After that, 1-5s could go on the new alternate characters, right?
BTW - Damo, have I thanked you enough for running all of these scenarios before I get the chance to run them myself? It is so amazingly cool of you. For sure, I'll be buying you more than at GenCon for this (especially since you are currently incurring all of the cost).

Damien Wilmann |

@Jack: Ha! No problems at all, mate. Nothing better than running scenarios for folks who are happy to play them - and before they read all the spoilers, too. ;-)
So yes, we will definitely play the trilogy. We will also play Slave Master's Mirror in the middle of that somewhere. With By Way of Bloodcove, Gunari should just fit. We can then move on to tier 3-7+ and never look back to tier 1-5 (except with the new, sync'd up group).
That said, it would be useful to have everyone at closer level. So...
Karma: If you can reserve the chronicle for a later character, that would be great. It is easy enough to do, just either make a "blank" PFS character, or assign it to someone who doesn't meet the level yet and then apply it instantly when that character dings level 3.
Silbeg: Trask will work in any of these adventures coming up, if you like. The group will need at least one divine wand-user (or need to pick up some potions of CLW) to survive without Gunari. Cyrus has UMD +8, so they should be fine with just that. That hooker (or whatever) that you were looking to play would also work. I'm kinda intrigued to see how Cyrus reacts.
I've personally held back on applying a chronicle to Lort to keep him apace (Hall of the Flesh Eaters) but don't feel any pressure either of you to hold back on chronicles for Gunari or Amaranti. It will make things easier, sure, but playing with everyone in the same group is still definitely possible (as we've just proved). Now that we've shed level 1-2, there are subtiers all the way that will accommodate a 1-2 level difference between PCs (provided people are happy playing out-of-subtier and/or risking life and limb).

![]() |

FYI - on Slave Master's Mirror... I will need to sit this one out. It is a pretty good scenario (I played it last Sunday, and am running it twice at CotN) but probably not one that I want to burn a replay on. Of course, I may still end up doing it, anyway.
It is too bad that people forced Mike Brock into a defining ruling on replay for no credit... because before that, we could sit in on a table to make 6 for no credit. Not allowed any more.
I could just run it for you guys, and let Lort ride again? That might even coincide, timing-wise, when we'll have finished Thornkeep: The Dark Menagerie, and we'll need to run a couple of other scenarios (including Bonekeep parts I & II). Damien could run a tier 5-9 at that time, if he'd like!

Damien Wilmann |

Let's play that one by ear. I've already read most of the scenario and really would like to run it. If you have to sit out, though, it's not as much fun. We could willfully pretend we haven't read Brock's post (I know I havent, for real) and just go by what's in the GOP. After all, it is for no credit so I can leave you off the reporting. Not sure if that's kosher or not...
But given that this group has history with the precursor to that scenario, I'd think it should be this group that continues through. If you're happy to GM for no credit, then Lort can play... but not sure if I'll GM the other group in the meantime. Timing-wise, we can get out of sync if one of is runs faster than the other.
Again, let's wait until it's an issue and play it by ear.

Ok, so in an effort to catch up with the heavy hitters (Jyri and Jack), I have decided to toss my hat into the GM ring. I am going to start with Season 5 Glass River Rescue Tier 1-2. As I have no desire to run this as Core, if you have played it you are excluded - sorry Chris. If you want to play, let me know, if you know of good players that would like to play, let me know. I believe that I have 3 confirmed.
As few caveats about me as a GM:
Please send me your character sheets, chronicles, & ITS. If you are using a source other than the Core Rule Book, please send me the page reference, a scanned receipt or screen shot of when and where you purchased it, or the first word on page 8 of the source book. Since I am spending my time and hard earned money on this endeavor, please PayPal me $3.99 / 6 = 67 cents. Lastly please read through my expectation here

Damien Wilmann |

Address please. So I can... erm.. send the check. Yeah. That's what I'll do with your address.
What does it say for me that I recognized the YouTube slug for being Rick Rolled and avoided the link? I think it says that I'm a software developer who has done it to far too many other people. Next time, use tinyurl.com or bit.ly or something like that. Except, now I'll be expecting it (just like the Spanish Inquisition, who actually gave 30 days notice).
Oh, and since you asked, here are Xull's Chronicle Sheets and ITS. I still need to add in We Be Goblins!.

TheBobJones |

Ok, so I am trying to change one of my normal messageboard alias and I get an error message every time. Is there a way to do it other than My Account -> Messageboard Aliases -> Edit?
I have logged in and out several times, and I tried IE and Firefox. I may just have to do it at home later.
@ Damien You will receive the results of my full audit in 6-8 Weeks.

Papasteve08 |

Soo.... does getting rick-rolled multiple times in one day leave marks?
$*#$* @#*&$#*^&$ $&*$#& $&$(&#$(&$

Papasteve08 |

You can't change the alias once you have posted at least 10 times... Not sure why they do that...
Sorry Steve, that particular prank was meant for John. I didn't know anyone else would be interested in my chronicles!
So what does it say for me that I laughed at the attempted rick rolling, then turned around and said "Hey look, a trap meant for someone else! What does this butto..... ah crap."

Papasteve08 |

Must be all this pent up GM juice.
Aaahhh.... I'll pass on sharing the room at GenCon with you... thanks though!
/end juvenile humor
No problems from me at all! I am really itching to get into that series... We can use wounded wisp for when we run out of games for our main group, or if we want to set up the timing for something else but don't want to sit idle for 2 weeks...

![]() |

@TheBobJones good thing that its a prank, 'cause I ain't using a GM star replay for that one.
And good luck catching up... I hit 100 table credits on February 14th, running Legacy of the Stone Lords at 10-11!! Four stars, baby!
After that... 50 more table credits, and 6 more specials/exclusives and you'll be talking to a 5-star. Granted, that's gonna probably take 2 years.

TheBobJones |

@TheBobJones good thing that its a prank, 'cause I ain't using a GM star replay for that one.
First part is true - I am running it. You have me nervous now - what should I know? PM me if you would please.
Second part is a prank - not even Finarin is that big of a jerk. Valsin maybe ....
What is this thing that you talk about - this 'rick rolling'?

Papasteve08 |

I'll help you out Damien. I was just talking to a co-worker about some stuff that has to happen before Monday. Which is awesome because today is Friday. his response was... "Monday? you mean Monday Monday?"
And now that song is stuck in my head.
can't trust that day.....
