So, quick question...
who among you are planning on volunteering to GM at GenCon... not necessarily the insane level I will be (tier 1, 8 slots), but just volunteering at all. As I recall, if you GM 4 slots, you get your GenCon paid for... something like that. Plus, there are usually a bunch of other perks... including the stylish "Purple Goblin" shirts.
I know that if Damien doesn't volunteer for at least some slots, I'll have to give him a lot of crap! :D

Since my plan is Thursday & Friday only I just want to game and buy cool stuff. I have no plans to run anything but I was wondering logistics of us playing at the same table if we go. I would also like be considerate of Jyri and Chris (not L) since they won't make it. It would suck to break up the band.

Papasteve08 |

I am enticed by special boons and such... however this will be my first Con, and I think I would rather just participate and enjoy. It is a ways off, so I could definitely have my mind changed before then, but for now, I will just stick with playing.
On a completely unrelated note, I think I finally decided on the character I will use for our "alternates". Jin Shu Ping is a fighter, archer archetype. Hyperfocused on the longbow, and Mighty Composite longbow as soon as I can afford it...

2PP is a Darkwood long composite bow w/+3 STR, or a greenwood long como bow w/+2 STR. This will likely be what you buy with your first chron, then.
Don't worry too much about getting the strength higher, 'cause for 3000gp you'll make it +1 Adaptive, and able to use any STR you have.

Wooo! Thanks for the tips on that one :)
I think it will be a fun character to play... Looking forward to seeing if I can pull off Tien....

W00t!
Miro won a prize from gameday #3!! (from our game of Hall of the Flesh Eaters)
Your choices are:
* PDF of one of the PF Rulebooks (Core Rulebook, ACG, or APG, for example)
* PDF bundle of one of the following seasons: 0, 1, 2, or 3 (full scenario season bundle)
* PDF of a single book of an AP (like Skull and Shackles book 1, but not the RotR Anniversary edition)
* PDF of a single "Tales" book (Liar's Blade for example)
* PDF of a single Player's Companion (Familiar Folio, for example)
* PDF of a single Campaign Setting book (Andoran, Birthplace of Freedom, for example)
You'll need to send and email to PFSOnlineVOS@Gmail.com ASAP (no later than Sunday Feb 15 @ 10PM CST) with your choice!
Dude... grats!
FYI - if you are planning on GMing, the PDF bundles of the scenarios are your best deal (value over $100) -- I would pick Season 3, being a more mature season, but definitely your choice.

Nice work, guys! Congratulations on the prizes.
Don't just take Jack's word on it, either...
Also, totally didn't mean to rain on the GM's parade, but I was going through the list, and searching for my PFS #, so was natural to find it all.
@Lufien - Just remember that the PRD is not a legal source. You actually have to have the books. Just sayin'

One more thing (which I purposely put on a separate post).
Because it now sounds like they are releasing (finally) a new 4 star exclusive scenario, we should get Bonekeep 1 done as soon as possible (well as soon as I can run it, that is, which should be after this weekend).
Since you will all be 4th level in my game, how about we play this after Forgotten Laboratory? It will be low tier, but we can for sure get it in.
Then, we'll play it by ear for BK2 and BK3. I don't know if we'll ever be able to run those outside of a convention.

Sounds good to me! Should we skip some of the fluff we have been dorking around with and get into the dungeon to help move things along?

Ophiuchus takes great offense to that, as he wraps himself up in a duck tabard.
He can't, yet. It isn't ready... she's got to have time to do the embroidery!

I'll leave that up to you guys. At this point, you might as well keep up the fluff until Monday Feb 16, as I will be out of touch Fri-Sun for my convention. Be very unlikely I do a lot of posting in that time... and if I do, it will likely be to stay up to date on By Way of Bloodcove. (Note: I am SO happy I get to enjoy this one fully before I run it. Which I will do, eventually... but thank you again, GM Damo! It is a bonus that it leads into the Scion of the Sky key series)
On that point (the series). If we are going to just play it next, Gunari can easily be able to stay within tier. If not, I may set him to slow advancement at level 5 so he doesn't go out of tier.

Papasteve08 |

Thinking... Thinking... (could just scroll back a few pages...)
I am pretty sure we were planning on playing the sequel to slave ships next... is that right? I thought we had room in everyone's progression to fit bloodcove in and that sequel, then start the trilogy. I know for Cyrus - if that is the order we do it in, he will play the final scenario of the trilogy at level 5.0...
I think I remember some question of whether or not Gunari would be able to do that one, but I can't remember why...

![]() |

I have already played Slave Master's Mirror, and would have no problem GMing it. I'd prefer not to play it again, however. Not that it wasn't fun, just that it isn't one that I would like to use a replay on.
That being said, I'd want to hold off on that one until after WBG2 is done, at the minumum. It is a 3-7, so we've got plenty of time on it. We could, perhaps, do that one while we are doing a different scenario with the Thornkeep group, and perhaps Damien would run that game?
We'll have to see.

GM Damo |

I had actually intended to run the Scions series next, since there is such a lovely segue from Bloodcove, and there is no rush to run Slave Master's Mirror (since it's tier 3-7).
So, we can defer that decision for a while yet. Perhaps Silbeg can run it while I play Lort - if he doesn't mind GMing multiple games (or maybe as a break from the Thornkeep and Bonekeep action - which I'm totally up for, by the way - while I run one of the low-level games).
Speaking of... Gunari going slow advancement could really solve some issues level-wise. It also gives me a cracking idea for GenCon! We all want to play together, right? At least 3 sessions, right? How about we pause our current games, and play on the slow advancement at GenCon? Silbeg's GMing everything anyway, but the rest of us could play 3 games at slow, and then we won't need to worry about leaving anyone behind! Thoughts?

![]() |

At gen con, I will have two slots to play. However, you are for sure welcome to play at my table for the couple of scenarios I am GMing. I will likely ask for two plus the special and exclusive. Four preps is enough.
We can plan the two slots I have open, so we can play at least one together!
We might also be able to do something Wednesday night?
But the slow play works, too.
If I run slave masters mirror, I will have one fewer scenario there, so will be only one ahead, I think. Then, I play another character for another (such as Trask) and you all catch up!

![]() |

Woot! Congratz guys! It really looks like Silbeg is a good luck charm :)
I'm fine with any order of scenario's we end up with. It looks like it's most sensible to have Silbeg to run Slave Masters Mirror, so we should time that when Accursed Labs finish? Unless Silbeg wants to run both at the same time...
And as Damien said, we can leave that after the Scions series, since 'Mirror is 3-7

Don't worry about me... If you're there, you should definitely get together and play. If I could just make a small request not to play season 6 scenarios, since those are the ones we can easily play together online. Whereas there not many S5 scenarios that both I and Silbeg haven't played... And same with older classics.

Papasteve08 |

Hrmm... So it may take some more planning then when we get closer to make sure we don't step on this group's toes...
So Silbeg... GMing the specials is obviously a big deal for you for different reasons, GM stars and such... Do you know if playing in the specials has anything for the players? Or is it that the specials are scenarios that are only available at an event like that?
I seem to remember hearing about a scenario or two that were specifically not allowed to play over PbP... If there is anything like that at GenCon then it would make perfect sense to try to play those.
Of course, I have no idea how/what/where we as players get to choose what and who we play with. I wouldn't want to force all of you to always have to game with me, but if I had my choice, I would just as soon run all the games I play with you guys, whoever is going to be there (if you aren't GMing...) and I would love to be able to play at least 1 of the games at Silbeg's table.
I really just want to play as many games as I can, and just soak in as much of the convention as I can. I've never been to ANY convention, let alone GenCon. My curiosity is... substantial. I just really want to experience it, see what it is like.

![]() |

The specials are multi-table interactive events... in other words, what happens to you is usually at least partly affected by the tables around you. Usually, this means you move on to a new act, or a new area opens, or something, based on the number of successes in areas around the room.
If you have never played in a special, I really suggest you do so! They are a blast. Plus, you can only play them at conventions. I think they usually have the big season-ending (or starting) special on Friday night.
For sure, I'll let you all know my schedule as soon as I do!

Yes, what he said, that, I WANT that. Very much yes!

:-)
I'm going to be playing with a friend who doesn't do any PFS (though he's a great roleplayer and published Ravenloft author). I'll try to get him some "of level" toons by then... probably over Google+. We'll see! I'd like to play most of my games with him (since he's flying all the way over from Oz to do so) but I'm always happy to roll up fresh characters to play. I can sneak away for a couple of games with you guys if all he has are level 1s.
As for playing on the day... definitely more planning needed, but probably closer to the time. I'd like to run at least one table. How do I get me a purple goblin T-shirt again?

![]() |

You get the 4 purple goblin shirts (because there are 4 days of the Con) if you volunteer for tier 5, which is 4 slots, min. If you do 5 slots (tier 4) you also get GenCon paid for you. Six slots gets you the hardcover that is released at GenCon (Occult this year)
At least that is how they did it last year.

Damien Wilmann |

Sweet. I think I can do 4-5 slots. The boons and rewards for the higher slots look appealing, too! Let's see what happens in 2015. Really, really can't wait.
I have said that I'm definitely in, haven't I? The hotel also can't confirm the rollaway, so sorry John! We may have one, we may not. Won't know until we check in. Pretty crappy, really. At least you won't be sharing a room with two men snuggling together on the king bed next to you... ;-)
Jack, while I'm asking questions... what are the rules on pre-filling tables? Can be done, or must be negotiated on the day? I would sincerely love to play mostly with these fine PbPers here... and would love to have you run the specials for us!

![]() |

So, what the basic process is during mustering, you should try and organize your table. They ask for full tables of 6 first. Then, they'll try and put tables together from what is left.
So, it is absolutely cool to prefill your tables. With a little work, you can even get the GM you want... usually. So, for example, if you guys have a table to play at my table, I can ask the musterer to seat you at my table, if they can. They are usually pretty good about it, but they are also VERY busy for those 15-20 minutes.
I prebuilt the two tables that I played at last year (the special, and paths we choose). I was able to get my GM of choice (Carlos Robledo) for the special, but we got a random GM (who turned out to be great) instead of Netopolis as our GM.
We'll need to figure out what sub-tier you'll be able to play the special at... so that I can request that sub-tier.

Wow, that looks awesome!

Man, my PbP GameDay 3 sessions still aren't appearing on my Paizo profile (for Paths, Goblins and Accursed Halls). Anyone have theirs on their sessions tab? This GameDay seems to be dragging a little... at least I have received my Sylph Boon! Unfortunately, it has to be Chronicle 1, so my Flesh Eaters credit baby will have to change into something else, even though I should technically have had that boon simultaneously. Sigh.

Papasteve08 |

I will also be somewhat indisposed this weekend, on my way to visit my brother, treat our wives to some valentines day pampering, and go to the USA Curling Nationals in Kalamazoo.
I will be on my phone, so I shouldn't have any issue with posting, but won't be able to move anything on maps. We won't be home until Monday night.

Papasteve08 |

LOL - Curling is so misunderstood... :) It's like golf to me. An obsessive hobby that I can be obsessively competitive at. So... much... fun... not a bad little workout too.
Next weekend I have a curling tournament that I actually get to participate in, so I may have the same type of situation. Though I will be going home at night and will have access to my computer.
I highly recommend everyone try it at least once, somewhere around you there is a curling club that would love to introduce you to the sport. If you are even a little competitive and love strategy, you will enjoy curling. Good times, and beer consumption is encouraged, before, during, and after! See... like golf :)

Damien Wilmann |

I want to get the sabotage done, but then I can put it on hold. The skills required for the sabotage aren't Gunari's forte anyway... his vote for "flames aplenty" is noted... as are his flasks of alchemist's fire. ;-)
Should be done today, easy!
Happy to pause the Forgotten Lab whenever. That one's yours anyway.

Damien Wilmann |

Behold! My Ode to Ibid is complete.
Wanted to make an investigator. Elf seemed like a suitable race (except for the -1 skill point vs humans). Wayang actually seems better, but I just can't wrap my head around those creepy little dudes. I think I'm going to go ranged study w/composite longbow eventually (two feats hurts, but at least he's proficient in longbows because he's elven). Definitely going to take underworld inspiration as my first talent and have fun with the sneaky stuff.
This is the character I'll be (hopefully) leveling up over Google+ with my buddy from Australia who's also going to GenCon. Should be fun!
