Watch the drunken posting, my friend! Could get you into trouble!
FYI - if you all haven't considered Gen Con, I would definitely plan on it! I had a blast this year (my first time), and I was there as a tier 1 GM. If you are into GMing at all, you can get your Con paid for.
Also, if we all make it there, perhaps we can do a game (or two) IRL - before and/or after the Con itself!

Papasteve08 |

Random thought, provided we survive this canni-hall run (hehehehehehe) The plan is to do "The Paths we Choose" next, correct? That scenario might be one of my personally most anticipated ones, and I am not entirely sure why. Just excited to run it :)
RE: The con.... I am intrigued. Getting the wife to buy in and take the trip will be considerably challenging. But lets just say I am interested enough to give it a try. I will keep you updated.

I'm down for gencon, I'd really like to go. I also don't think it's that terribly far for me to travel either, so I don't really have a good excuse not to go :)
Also, I'm sure I can nudge PapaSteve into going too.
And on that note, PapaSteve, you'll have to go to gencon whether you like it or not since you'll probably win RPGSS this year and will have to be the new poster boy.
By the way, is anyone else doing RPGSS this year?

Damien Wilmann |

Can't do paths we choose until Finarin levels up. 2 more to do after this one, I believe. Finarin?
I'd actually like to run The Wounded Wisp when it comes out. It's a 1-2 and kinda replaces / sits aside the confirmation from all comments I've seen so far. As a 1-2, Finarin (and Miro?) could play with a new set of characters from the others... that way we get another cool scenario done (really curious about this one) and the PCs who need catching up can do so.
Thoughts?

![]() |

I am down for sure. This scenario well ding ibid and I to level 3, so would we be able to play it out of Tier? If I remember right, I don't think we would be able to do it at all if we are level three, and it is listed as 1-2. I could always bring in my halfling cavalier for a session off I need to... :)

Ha! I'll get my hopes up again like last year, but inevitably still won't make it to the top 100.... :)

I am having a hard time choosing between that one and the Blade of a Hundred Functions. I may need a second opinion...

GenCon was great fun. I'm thinking of PaizoCon for next year (or 2016), though. I mainly want to play Pathfinder and Indianapolis is a stagnant hole of a city. Seattle would mean I can bring the family up for a proper vacation (they'll have something to do while I'm at the Con).
Also thinking of RPG Superstar. I don't quite have enough knowledge about what's already out there to properly do it, but I reckon I'll have a bash anyway. What's the deadline?

Yes I just hit 2, so I have 2 more after this for level 3. With Christmas fast approaching, I might be able to hit a game or two to try and catch up if we go on PbP hiatus. As for GenCon it is on my bucket list, and since geographically I am closest to the current venue, and the past venue for that matter, really no reason for me not to have made it. The last 2 summers it have interfered with my daughter's summer camp and my work schedule, but there is always the wish spell.

Just finished Of Dice and Men - awesome read if you have the time.

Just another reason not to play 5th Ed! Eep!
Best reason to use ironwood armor that I can think of.

I've got it! You should just combine your two great item ideas, and then you are sure to win!
Call it something like...
Spell Imbibed Arcane Canister Stowing Abundant Knives

I've read this as well, and thought it was great. A quick and good read. In fact, after reading this, when I was passing through Wisconsin this summer, I took a slight detour to make a sort of nerd pilgrimage to see Gary Gygax's house, from the time when D&D was first coming into being. Snapped a nice picture of it too, and probably looked like a weirdo while doing it :)

I haven't read the sure when the deadline is, but most likely it will be at the end of December or very beginning of January. I'll be submitting "something" once I can come up with a great idea :)
Also, I'll gladly read over anything you're thinking of submitting, if you want some feedback. Just be sure to PM or email me your item, and don't disclose it on the forums or anywhere that is not private!
I'm sure PapaSteve would be willing to look over your items as well, so you can get more than one opinion.

Bingo! I'll get to work on it right away. RPGSS fame and fortune, here I come!!!
In all seriousness GM Damo, you don't really need to know what is out there. If you are going to put some time and effort into it, pour it into seeing HOW people have done things (right and wrong), not what they have done. There have been so many items submitted, it would be nearly impossible not to have some sort of repeatability. It is worth going through the top 32 items for the last couple of years, even if its just a brief overview, so you don't accidentally make something very similar. And the only real reason to do that is so you don't irk the voters, because they tend to have a somewhat long-ish memory.
It really is great fun, and at times greatly frustrating. So a lot like golf to be honest... :) Plus we can all review each other's items via PM, and hopefully collectively submit some pretty awesome things.
I believe they typically announce the contest in December, and open it for submissions January 1st. Usually the submission window is open for 2 weeks, then the voting begins. That is the most fun part, because you end up voting constantly in an effort to see your own item. Seeing your item during voting is (as of last year) the only way to know whether or not your item is still 'alive' so to speak.

After HotFE, Miro will be 1 scenario away from level 3. I'm thinking of entering the RPGSS, as well...just need a viable concept.

Damien Wilmann |

Pretty sure it's always in Indianapolis, though they do occasionally have GenCons elsewhere. They may have had second thoughts after the Brisbane (Australia) GenCon, though. :-)
We can have everyone play out-of-tier (as Gunari has been) for the very tidy out-of-tier GP. No problems at all until Gunari (and/or Amaranti) dings level 4. The main issues are the Wounded Wisp (which is a 1-2) and when we first can play the Paths We Choose (or any 3-7). For Paths, it's mainly a matter of patience. For the Wounded Wisp, it's only if the others want to get some credit for a level 1 or 2 character they already have - the level 3 ship has sailed for all but Finarin and Miro as of the end of the Hall of the Flesh Eaters.

Damien Wilmann |

Oh, just realised that Wisps won't be released until December 31.
Anyway, next up: The Segang Expedition
... unless of course there are any objections. We're looking like we'll finish this one tonight or tomorrow for sure. I'll get all the book-keeping done and start The Segang Expedition after Thanksgiving weekend (Monday December 1st).

![]() |

Woohoo! So did this mean I will be able to run that one as Cyrus with the out of tier gold reward?
-Posted with Wayfinder

Damien Wilmann |

Hmmm. How about this?
Since Finarin and Miro will be level 3 (at this rate) by the time Wounded Wisp comes out...
GM Silbeg continues to run Thornkeep (of course).
The regular group continues to play Segang and one more Tier 1-5 in subtier 1-2 with some PCs getting out-of-tier rewards and Gunari possibly being replaced by one of Silbeg's PFS Toon Army™. When are all at least level 3, Jyri takes over with his (new?) GM alias and runs Paths We Choose for 5 PCs (with Jack sitting out): Cyrus, Finarin, Ibid, Lort and Miro.
GM Damo (me) runs Wounded Wisp for a group of alts (if there is interest) when it comes out. Hopefully this will be able to happen simultaneously with Paths We Choose. I will have to break from GMing for about 2 weeks over Christmas while I go back to Australia. I'm sure plenty of you will also need at least something of a break over that time. I'll run this simultaneously with our regular PFS group if it doesn't line-up exactly with Paths We Choose.
Then...
Back to Thornkeep (GM Silbeg) + Regular PFS (GM Damo).
It would be great if Finarin and maybe even Miro could catch up with a GM credit or two so this situation doesn't happen again (I think there is potential for a 2 level difference again soon)... or, alternatively, some of us play with alts or (as I will do) apply GM credits to different characters for a session or two. It's not essential, however, and so long as the higher-level players don't mind playing for out-of-tier rewards.

Damien Wilmann |

Already got the Segang Expedition signed up for PbP Gameday 3!!!
Dot in here when you have a chance, and roll some day jobs. Gunari, let me know if you want to play a different PC for this.
PbP GameDay 3: PFS #6-08 The Segang Expedition
I'll close down Hall of the Flesh Eaters once the reporting is done and I have an answer on the boon rolls. Please just post any follow-up here, though (unless it's in-game for the scenario), so that it doesn't get lost.

GM Damo |

Just a reminder... still waiting for Cyrus, Miro and Gunari / Silbeg's Creation to dot in here (even though Cyrus did hit the discussion thread):
I've got some Thanksgiving-style ideas that (for reasons of my own Thanksgiving tomorrow, I'd like to get started today). I'd rather wait for the dots first. Don't take my aversion to the classic "dot" as a reason not to do so and post at a later stage. I assure you, I know there's nothing wrong with making sure a game appears on your campaign thread until you have time to post properly.

GM Damo |

You've all dotted in, so this shouldn't be an issue - but depending upon how you view the games...
I've updated the tier description for the Segang Expedition, and it seems to have updated the URL. Obviously the Paizo developers (or the PHPBB developers) haven't heard of defensive programming before so...
The new URL is: http://paizo.com/campaigns/PbPGameDay3PFS608TheSegangExpedition45
If you need it.

Damien Wilmann |

So, back on this GenCon thing.... we have:
- Jack (Gunari) - 100%?
- Chris L (Ibid) - 100%?
- Steve (Cyrus) - > 50% (100% according to some sources)
- Damien (Lort) - 30% (but with accommodation already booked... hmmm....)
- Jyru (Amaranti) - 0%?
- Chris B (Miro) - ???%?
I'll try to convince one of my Australian roleplaying friends to come along, which will give me a good enough excuse that I won't need to burn through 20 years' worth of wife-credits. If I can't convince one of them, I'd love a room mate to help with the hotel cost (roll-away bed has been booked which we can alternate using, or I'm happy to sleep on a king bed with another man - provided they don't snore or snuggle too much). I understand that it's quite a bit more than what most folk pay - but I'm so determined not to stay at anywhere like La Quinta ever again. Oddly, it gets good reviews. People must be easy to please.

![]() |

Chris B is a negative. Perhaps when the children are a little older (5,6,7,10,13,16)...I catch a ration of s~~~ just for my every other Saturday RL game. :p

Damien Wilmann |

Fair enough... man, I can't even imagine how full my hands would be with 6 kids. Also, I just realized I forgot John! I counted to 6 of us, which works when you're the GM. Sorry, mate!

We will for sure have to plan for something. Find a place to play. I can probably get a couple of extras as needed (he Twin Cities always sends a large contingent). We'd just need to find a table to play at. But , we can figure that out, later.
I will say that I am unlikely to want to GM such a table, as I will be running 8 at the con, if plans go as I expect. However, I'll share my schedule when I get it, and you can always request my table at mustering.

![]() |

Also, if it matters to any of you. For GMing PFS at GenCon at the appropriate levels, you can get the new hardcover (occult next year), you Con paid for, $10 store credit per slot, 1/4 of a hotel room (which will be right across the street from the con), and a GM boon specific to your tier. This year tier 1 was Samsaran or Ratfolk, or a full character rewrite.
Pretty good deal, I thought. And, as I said before, I still got to play in both specials!

TheBobJones |

Ok so this is my current situation, my daughter leaves for camp on that Sunday, so realistically I could go Thursday and Friday, drive back to Chicago on Saturday, spend some time with her, and drive back to Indiana on Sunday to drop her off at camp. Are there slots Thursday and Friday, or does all the magic happen on Saturday/Sunday? Just trying to find out if would be worth it to attend Thursday/Friday.

![]() |

For the record... after Jan 3 2015, Lucius Vizzini will be available for play... I can even make it so that he could play The Wounded Wisp.
Really, one of you all make a female character for when we play this together. That'll be very interesting with Lucius. ;)

Damien Wilmann |

Sin Mage? Oh dear.
Happy to have whichever characters / alts you have to play the Wounded Wisp. Depending upon timing with Accursed Halls, I was thinking that we could perhaps do Paths We Choose with Silbeg running it while I do the Wounded Wisp, then flip back to "regular programming".
Not sure if Accursed halls will be done in the first week or two of January, but it may work out very well timing-wise.

![]() |

Sounds like a good plan, Damien. Once you get going in the Halls, you'll see it is very combat heavy (almost no RP).
I am thinking I will start doing group init for the baddies after this fight, if only to speed things up. I have a goal of hitting 100 table credits by Feb 15 (the end of Con of the North, our local gaming convention). I am coming up short by about 5 tables right now. This isn't insurmountable, but I won't have a lot of free time to game until I take my vacation around the holidays (and probably not too much until the Con after that... the tables I am counting include games already scheduled).

![]() |

Hey, I have one female character, here's a mental primer for her: Lady Drusilla
:)
Then again, she's been forever stuck in a pbp game... :(
And yes, I think group initiative works best. Although there might be issues with cover etc, but we'll work it out...
