Xyro:
Just realised I needed to be more specific as to how Stinky knows which right. He has put his back to the wall, that way he knows nothing can get him from there, so moving right is into the south-east corner of the chamber.

"Why, I only just got my protection out, my little stem cutter."

After being released from the grips of the monster, Edward wavers a bit and says "Thanks!" and remembers he may have a way to remove the darkness. Edward begins channeling a simple amount of natural energies.

Edward casts Light.

To Stinky:

Spoiler:
you draw your sickle and slide with your back to the wall until you hit tthe corner of the wall. You hear Dug shout "Everyone SHTOP SHWINGING YOUR WEAPONSH IF YOU CAN'T SHEE!!!" and you reply, "Why, I only just got my protection out, my little stem cutter."

To Layf:

Spoiler:
Still unable to see you continue moving around the wall, you reach a corner and continue to your right along the intersecting wall. You hear Dug shout "Everyone SHTOP SHWINGING YOUR WEAPONSH IF YOU CAN'T SHEE!!!" and a reply from the direction you came, "Why, I only just got my protection out, my little stem cutter."

To Edward:

Spoiler:
Now free of your assailant you cast light but it has no effect on the thick darkness. You hear Dug shout "Everyone SHTOP SHWINGING YOUR WEAPONSH IF YOU CAN'T SHEE!!!" and a reply from your left, "Why, I only just got my protection out, my little stem cutter."

To Dug:

Spoiler:
you look around at all of his friends swinging their weapons wildly, and yell at them to be still. You then move close to attack the remaining creature but miss. Stinky replies to your demand.

To Jonas:

Spoiler:
You flatten yourself as much as possible, back against the wall. After a moments pause you have a spark of an idea! Jonas steadies himself and calls upon his innate gnomish ability to create dancing lights but the darkness seems to absorb your spell. As you cast your spell you feel fleshy hooked tentacles slam into you, coil around you and begin to squeeze. 6 damage and you are grappled by some strange creature.

"Yeah, on my way." Layf faces the direction Dug's voice is coming from and proceeds carefully in that direction. He stops swinging his sword not wanting to injure Dug or Jonas.

From the corner of the room, Stinky calls "Umm, where is everyone? Dunno if any of you can see the thing causing the lights to be out, but would be good to get rid of it." All the time Stinky waves his sickle in front of him, to deter anything coming too close.

Stinky listens hard, he especially listens for sounds of struggle, thinking what to do next in this darkness, Perhaps one little bomb, just throw it in the middle somewhere, bound to get something.

Edward sighs as his spell doesn't work. "There is another one?" Using some of the remains of the monster, Edward commands Charcoal to attack the other one. Edward will follow Charcoal.

Followed by Dug saying, ""Layf!!! Can you come to the shound of my voishe? Shomeshing hazh Jonash it's it's mouf!!!"
Layf responds with, "Yeah, on my way."
Edward quips from the doorway, "There is another one?"

Stinky:
You are unable to hear anything but party communications but you do notice Dug is north of you on the other side of the room.

Layf:
You train your ear to discern Dug's location and step toward it slamming into what could only be the anvil, sending a stabbing pain up your legs. you may need to listen again to figure out where you are going.

Edward:
Charcoal is unable to see what you are trying to get him to do, he does smell the creature you are putting in his face.

Dug:
You see the party blundering about the room and slam your axe down on the creature ripping it in half. it is dead, the map is the same

Jonas:
You feel the creature's grip slip away and fall to the floor, you are free and the creature is no more

"Dug, keep talking. I can't see a blasted thing, and I need to follow your voice."[/b}

Stinky, stays where he is and shouts, "There must be some magic potion that can do that, but I don't know it. If everyone went to the side of the room, I could blow up everything in the middle with a bomb, that might do it!"

Edward exhales a sigh upon hearing the other monster is dead and heads out of the chapel far enough to get out of the unnatural darkness. He whistles for Charcoal to follow and begins tending his wounds. "If anyone needs some bandaging, I'll be out front."

As the lights go on, Stinky is seen waving his sickle around in front of him in one corner of the room. He stops this activity, drops his sickle with a clatter on the stone floor and puts both hands to his eyes and rubs as his eyes get adjusted to he new light. "Aaaah the lights are back on, that's better. What's been happening?" He asks as he surveys the scene of fighting and the dead monster. "Well done lads, is everyone OK?"

no, but you do see a small pebble near the center of the room.

"Zhat looksh out of plashe." Dug picks up the pebble.

In the blackness, Stinky calls out..."You ready for me to throw the bomb now?"

"Shtinky, NO BOMSH!!!!"

Does the pebble appear to be special in some way as I clench it in my fist tightly?

The darkness vanishes and the room is now dimly lit again.

Through the dimly lit room, Stinky is seen with a look of disappointment, which cheers up appreciably as he surveys the scene and his friends still standing tall. "Aaaah the lights are back on, that's better. What's been happening?....Oh yeah Layf, I bumped into a few pews and bruised my legs, but I think I'll be OK." He puts on a limp, rubs his leg then limps on the other leg, before walking normally again. "I think that's better Layf...yeah much better." Stinky looks around at all the disruption and starts tiding up some of the pews that have been pushed over or not aligned correctly.

Dug drops the pebble into a belt pouch, it may come in handy later. "Where neksht? Through zhere?" he points at the door on the south wall of the chapel.

Edward finishes tying off a makeshift bandage and seeing the light return and the threat eliminated he limps over to Jonas, shows him his bruising, and asks "Jonas, anything you can do for this?".

Dug searches the room while Jonas heals, looking for the treasured fungi.

The altar is a very large anvil with 5 small depressions in the top. There is nothing else of interest in the room.

Layf and Edward are either sick or on vacation until next week, and the DM is buying a house, so check back Tuesday :)

Stinky sticks his hands/fingers in the holes, "Hmmm, wonder if we can find what goes in here?" Seeing others go towards the other door, he quickly catches them up.

The door across the room is shattered, broken and lying on the floor. The chamber is in an equal state of disrepair. What was once a library is now a shattered mess with one corner being completely collapsed and dominated by a wide pool of stagnant water. Thick fungus grows on most of the books that still remain on the shelves lining the walls.

Stinky follows Dug, into the room and looks intently at the fungus on the bookshelves, from the door. "OK Dug, I'll be careful of it, what is it do you know any more about it? Hmmm."

Stinky looks at the water and the hole in the wall and the pile of rocks. "Fancy, I wonder what caused that wall to fall, made a huge indoor pool. Bet it's the water that caused the fungus to take on them books. "

To Jonas:

Spoiler:
Just in case Jonas' did not get Dug's warning. Edward repeats it to Jonas, "Don't touch the Fungus on the books, Dug says it looks dangerous."

Edward takes a look around the old library, paying special attention for any monsters on the ceiling.

After glancing around, Jonas proceeds through the doorway to the East. He glances left and right down the hallway, and briefly examines the door directly in front of him. He knocks three times.... apparently just because, then opens the door.

Dug, distratced by the fungus and ruined books, doesn't see Jonas leave the room, and is unaware of his actions until Jonas opens the door.
"JONASH!! Wait!!!" He rushes over to the gnome, axe raised just inc case....

jonas:
there seems to be a book on the top of the one of the shelves that may still be intact and not damaged by the fungus. But to get to it you will most likely disturb some of the other books

Jonas stops suddenly in the library room and makes a quick turn towards the bookshelf. He approaches very close to the fungus ridden books and looks straight up at something on the top shelf. He appears to be plotting a safe course to climb up the shelves without disturbing the fungus. Finding no clear path the doesn't involve some kind of contortion well beyond his capability, Jonas sags with a resigned *sigh*. He proceeds to walk over to Dug and tug on his shirt slightly.

Turning back towards the bookshelf and pointing towards the fungus free book on the top shelf, he tells his significantly taller friend "Wassat? Wassat!?"
