Okay. Any preference on month?
There is more information here. Not much. But it's something. The start of RotRL takes place on the day of the Swallowtail Festival. There's debate about whether it takes place on the first day of Rova or the Autumnal Equinox. Which ever month you choose is fine. However, if I could suggest making it one or two months before or after the date you choose because of the fact that there's no mention of the Swallowtail Festival in the Jade Regent, so we can assume it hasn't occurred yet or it already happened. Then again, all of my suggestions are just theories and I could be wrong. But, I just want to help and give any information I can. Then again, we could be retconned by our GM on the date of events.
Also, I found out where you post campaign journals: here.
Piper Hemlock |
Yep! Bookmarked it, and planning to start the journal soon!
Cool. Let us know when you start the journal.
Alara Dawnchaser |
Well, as it turns out, 2 of my players aren't able to show up for my game today, so the session's been cancelled. I'll have some time to get started on the journal, and put up the 1st entry sometime in the near future.

Just curious as to what people are running. Although I have run alot of homebrewed stuff, right now I'm running my group through Way of the Wicked Adventure Path.
William Drak |
I'm currently GMing an Arena PvP PbP, it just got to the second round and I'm DMPCing two characters and one of them made it through. Well he will make it through. The person he is fighting against needs to make a 30DC to break free and he can only achieve it through a nat 20. So until he breaks free this guy will be whaling on him at 1d3+8 per round (+1 twice with Body Wrap of Might Strikes). Beyond that I'm in 3 homebrew PbP's, a PFS PbP thing (tier 1-2) and a Kingmaker PbP. At the same time I'm trying to get into a S&S and a couple more homebrews...
Alara Dawnchaser |
I'm currently GMing Curse of the Crimson Throne on the tabletop for a group of 4-5 people. Almost all of them are playing 2 PCs, so balancing encounters & loot for them is kinda tricky, but it's worth it for some of the hilarious stuff they've done.
Piper Hemlock |
As for me... nothing. I applied to several PBP games. I also have plans to create my own Adventure Path (with help of course). You can read some of my plans and thoughts from when I brought it up on this recruitment thread. I'm tieflingwizard and Dravan Nels.
Jacen "Ash" Teleris |
I am running a Rise of the Runelords with my wife that is just the two of us and it's Gestalt and Mythic and crazy, but cool. She is way under level, so the encounters are very, very deadly, but so is she.
Also about to start a Skull & Shackles PbP, while playing in 5 pbp games (2 Kingmaker that are very, very different, 1 S&S, This, and a PFS scenario game).
I also have a good amount of PFS that I run and play on Tuesdays as well as random game nights when I have a babysitter.
Alara Dawnchaser |
Just put up the first entry of the campaign journal. You can find it here.

:-)
With regards to NPC interaction, how should it be handled? Posting in the gameplay thread, private messaging?
Piper Hemlock |
Also, I'm going to be at a football game this sunday. So I don't know when I'll be logged in on that day.
Piper Hemlock |
While Piper and Ash are the most charismatic members of the team, I'll side with Masamune for team leader. Probably because he's a samurai of the Order of the Dragon. So naturally he would be leader material. If not him, then probably Piper (despite the fact that he can't talk).
Alara Dawnchaser |
Party Leader Votes
Piper: Voting for Masamune or himself
Sharrd: Voting for Masamune
William: Voting for Piper or Ash
Masamune: To be Determined
Ash: To be Determined
Alara: Wild Card
Current Tally:
Masamune: 2
Piper: 2
Ash: 1
Alara: 0
Sharrd: 0
William: 0

Ash wouldn't think there would be a need to have a 'leader' per se. Each person has their role and they should fill it at the time it is necessary. When it comes to talking to people, he is probably the best. When it comes to leading combat, it is almost certainly Masamune or William. If we are dealing with laws, I would lean towards Mr. Hemlock. Other side of the coin...Alara. Anything in the realm of the arcane...Sharrd. Roles for the roleplayers, not much of a need for a 'leader' until we get on the road, then I'd say Ameiko ;)

I don't think Piper would be focused on the law, per say. He would fit the party face role like Ash, with a bit of arcane. Though, him being adopted by the sheriff and his charisma might lead to working well with lawmakers. Also, I could see your points of having no leader and having Ameiko as the leader of the group.

Alara can also pitch in if Ash or Piper need backup in diplomatic cases.
Masamune Mitsuhide |
I would suggest against have Ameiko as leader. The GM has enough to worry about, and I don't want to place the burden of leadership on him. If I had to vote it would be for myself. I think that Piper or Ash would have to be put face, but I think I would be good as a leader because Order of the Dragon has me care about and look out for my friends. Just my 2 cents.

I would agree with you.
Marik Whiterose |
Sorry for the delay, we had a family emergency we had to deal with. My 82 year old Father-in-Law went to out to get the mail Thursday night, got confused in the dark and was found by a neighbor wandering down the road, lost. My wife and I have spent the past day checking with the VA and other agencies trying to find out about home healthcare and other avenues of care. I will get back to regular postings this week, thank you for your patience.
Sharrd |
I have had similar problems. You also might want to check with the local Area Agency on Aging. The VA was very supportive once I started actually dealing with them face to face. Their telephone number is extremely frustating, so try and make an actual appointment with an actual representative. They actually came out and visited with my parents. Although come to think of it you may have to wait until the government shutdown ends for this to happen, the personnel are probably on furlough. In either case, best of luck.
Masamune Mitsuhide |
We can wait Marik. Family comes first.
Alara Dawnchaser |
While we're waiting for Marik to get his family business settled, I'd like to make a suggestion for a scene for Alara to explain where her crush (and let's face it, she doesn't do a good job of hiding it) on Shalelu came from. It'd take place on the road to Walthus' home, in the Brinestump Marsh. The only problem I see right now is that I'm trying to insert a scene so that it won't interrupt the flow of the game when it starts back up. Would it be alright to, with the power of flexible time (used to keep certain roleplaying scenes going while the DM can introduce new plot points & challenges elsewhere), do something like that?
Masamune Mitsuhide |
While we wait we should probably decide on caravan rules or not.
Masamune Mitsuhide |
Well the players guide says that you can use them, but there is an optional rule that if the party is fine, so is the caravan.
Jacen "Ash" Teleris |
I care not, though it is one of the special parts of the scenario, so that might not be a bad idea to use them.
That said, Alara, I would suggest that we have that RP conversation via spoilers and then when Marik returns, we can finish it through those while continuing the story with Marik.
Piper Hemlock |
About the caravan rules, I don't care if we use them or not. Though I would at least like to try them.
Does anyone mind if Piper has his own flex time?
Masamune Mitsuhide |
I think on caravan rules we should try them with the caveat that if we find them unworkable/broken then we should just do the optional party health rule. Also, at this point I think anybody who wants some flex time can get it as we are currently waiting.

Schedule update: I'll be working on Saturday from 1 pm to 6 pm and on Sunday, I have a bowling tournament that should take up most of the morning.
Piper Hemlock |
Even further update: Tomorrow morning, I may not post much because we have to put our cat down. So I will be with my family and her.
