Cap'n Garglechunk |

Garglechunk rubs the elixir against his face, caressing it lovingly.
"Good good, me get big burnspit to scare Lotstentacles!" Below, Toadgobble whines and flattens his ears.

As you pass through into the clearing which is uncommon in the forest a sense of darkness descends wraps itself around the area. Zarkus notices something descend from the tree tops. Sticky spider webs come hurling in towards Cap'n Garglechunk and his goblin dog. They find themselves covered in the stick spider webs.
You are confronted by a black spider larger than any of the goblins. Her hungry eyes savouring it's coming meal, salivating over sight of the goblins standing before her.
Cap's Garglechunk and mount gain the condition entangled.
Please post your movement using N,S,E,W, and combinations hereof.

Zord Swampwader |

Sorry! I knew I was forgetting a thread somewhere...
Zord blinks his big eyes at Zarkus, before looking up to see the giant spider descending on the team. While Zord is ready to face the menace, Sir PuppyStomper is... less than enthusiastic. "No, no! PuppyStomper, it just big goblin-eating spider! PuppyStomper is boar, not in danger!" His boar is not so convinced, and Zord has to take time to calm him down.

Cap'n Garglechunk |

Are Garglechunk and mount entangled separately, or are they being treated as one unit?
The Cap'n shrieks as the humongous spiders appears and sprays him with sticky webs.
"YEAUGH!"
He flails his hands about, managing to calm down long enough to invoke an icy blast at the threatening arachnid.

Round 1:
Cap'n Garglechunk
Rancor
Zarkus
Lotsolegs
Zord
Please feel free to take your turn if you act before the Lotsolegs, you don't have to wait for the person before you. The actions will be considered to be in order of Initiative and I will describe them accordingly
I'm treating you both as one unit so you both get the entangled condition.
Garglechunk calls upon the divine power of his gods, bursting into maniacal laughter inspite of being covered in webs. A wave of icy mist flies towards the spider, forming into an icicle right before it strikes. The spider shrieks in pain, but it isn't a serious wound and only serves to infuriate Lotsolegs.

![]() |

Rancor lets out a surprised shriek:
"GAHHH! SPIDER!"
"Rancor must not show weakness or others will think Rancor is weak!"
Rancor vomits because he is still not feeling good at the sight of the Spider but tries to pull himself together for this life or death scenario.
Move Action: Draw Horsechopper
5 Foot Step: Any open square that is 10 feet away from Lotsolegs. The square directly to the West should do it.
Standard Action: Attack Lotsolegs with Horsechopper
Horsechopper/Sickened: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 2 = 13
Damage/Sickened: 1d8 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 2 = 5

![]() |

That one step west would be 15 feet so you can't use the horsechopper from there. If you don't mind this will be you action. Also please make your AoO roll in a spoiler, the spider might just have to move to attack if you all keep range.
Movement:N, NW.
Rancor moves around Zord's right flank drawing his horsechopper as he moves into position bringing the spider into range of his deadly weapon. He strikes the spider but the blow glances of Lotsoleg's armoured torso harmlessly.

![]() |

I swear that I saw a rule saying you could attack diagonally with a reach weapon, but after trying to source it, it seems like it might be a 3.5 rule. Oh well, I'll keep that one in mind for the future.
Damage/Sickened: 1d8 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 2 = 6

Zarkus Farslayer |

Zarkus move 10' to the west, clearing his line of sight to the spider, and fires.
Can I use Knowledge-Nature to maybe find a weak spot in attacking the spider? Know-Nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

![]() |

[ooc that was a 3.5 rule, you are correct. However if anyone tries to approach you diagonally you still get an AoO. They don't magically go from 15 to 5 feet, logically they have to pass through the 10 foot mark.[/ooc]
Zarkus on observing the creature you learn that is it is a web spinning spider about the size of an adult longshanks.
Zarkus draws his bow finding a clear line of sight to the creature. Zarkus knows other goblins no hurt Lotsolegs because of hard body of spider so he be careful to aim for soft squishy bit. The shootings good and he hits Lotsalegs good with his arrow. Make Lotsalegs legs very mad and screaming in pain!

![]() |

Lotsalegs very mad and looking very hungry. Looking at Zarkus with lots of hating and moves around to try and bite him, but Zarkus is too quick and dodges Lotsogets bite. Rancor sees Lotsolegs trying to move away and tries to attack but misses, Lotsolegs move off too quickly.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Zord next and then round 2 starts, you can all post your actions for the turn if you act before the spider. I'm changing the map settings so that you can edit the movement, since I can't access google docs at work.

Zord Swampwader |

Zord finally manages to get PuppyStomper to calm down, readying his lance at Lotsalegs and kicking his mount's sides. PuppyStomper grunts loudly, before running at the spider as his rider levels the tusk-tipped polearm at the spider. With so much spider to aim for, it seemed like a likely score for him.
Zord's Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage (if hit): 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Zord Swampwader |

Oh shoot, I didn't even realize I rolled a natural 20! That never happens, so I failed to notice. XD Also forgot to mention my moves, 2 west and 1 south
Critical Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

![]() |

Rancor is determined to do some damage. He runs up and along the trees growing next to the path and presses the spider for an attack.
Horsechopper/Sickened: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 2 = 5
Damage/Sickened: 1d8 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 2 = 3

Zord Swampwader |

Oops, sorry. Like I say, I never get these X)
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Zord smirks as he really does bring the pain on Lotsalegs. "Zord will enjoy choosing which part of big spider to use as trophy!"

![]() |

1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
You roll 2 extra damage dice for a crit.
Zord with an impeccable blow drives his weapon in through the face of the spider and it travels into the torso lodging itself deeply. The spider twitches and shudders and before it has a chance to realize what just happened it falls where it stood, dead.

![]() |

"NO FAIR! Zord is a kill stealer! Rancor was just about to make Spider Meat out of disgusting bug."
Rancor vomits again in the midst of heckling Zord. This time he gets it all over his armor and boots. This makes Rancor mad:
"GAH! Rancor can do everything Zord can do, and better if he weren't poisoned by slugs!

Zarkus Farslayer |

"Good killing Zord! You kill Lotsolegs with my help! We great warriors!"
Zarkus approaches the spider carcass and begins to carve out the edible parts.
Knowledge-Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
He will also try and remove the poison sac, if one is apparent.
"We eats good good tonight. Yummie spider steak!"

Zord Swampwader |

Zord smirks a pointy-toothed little smile at Rancor. "If Rancor as good as Zord, Rancor not be sick from wigglies!" he quipped back, holstering his lance back on PuppyStomper. "Zord not afraid of any swamp beasties!"

Zarkus Farslayer |

Zarkus looks up from his carving of the spider steaks.
"Zord you no make fun of swamp. It has many kill kill things in it. Show respect or become dead! Now come and eat of spider's strength!"
He hands out a rough cut chunk of spider flesh to each of the other goblins.
Just wondering, can I use knowledge-nature to see if there is some way to make Rancor better? Maybe some sort of herbal remedy?

Cap'n Garglechunk |

"Gurrr, good good kill," Garglechunk grumbles as he thrashes about in his webbed saddle, failing to contain his resentment that someone other than him dealt the final blow to the fearsome spider-kraken.
Assume he can take 20 on Escape Artist or some such to remove the webs.
After several minutes of gnashing and grunting, captain and vessel free themselves from the entangling threads. Garglechunk directs Toadgobble toward the arachnid's corpse, where Zarkus has prepared the delicious spider steaks. He pauses only briefly to glance around at their surroundings.
Lacks patience to take 20 on Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Zarkus Farslayer |

Well tracking is my speciality!! I hope!
Zarkus come across spider spoor leading off into the swamp.
"Come, come see. Spider walk this way...maybe we go see where it come from...its home might have...things!"
Tracking: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

![]() |

Zarkus is a skilled tracker and has no trouble following the trail directly south of the creek through the soggy, mossy tree branches. The lair itself consists of a deadfall of several old trees. Scattered amid the trees are dozens of bodies, some of which are goblins, but a few of which are humans.

![]() |

Zarkus has to point the treasure out to Rancor because he is looking the other direction.
Rancor watches Zarkus unfold the package and reveal the candy.
"CANDY!, If everybody take 2 and Zord take none, we all have 2 pieces each!
Appraise: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
"Too bad rest of this stuff is junk. Who would want a rock or small jars filled with funny colored water anyway?
Rancor is too busy drooling over the candy to notice the gold.
These bad dice rolls are destroying my character!

Zarkus Farslayer |

Well Zarkus will bundle up all the 'treasure' and carry on, if Garglechuck is not going to look at it. He will make sure EVERYONE gets a piece of the "candy"!
"We all fight..we all share Rancor!

The goblin heroes continue down the path from what they read on the map. After a turn of the glass they seem to have reached their destination. The point indicated on Scribbleface’s map isn’t quite on the coast, but it’s close enough to hear the faint susurrus of waves crashing on an unseen swampy shoreline. The site itself is obvious once it is approached—a large wrecked ship lodged in a shallow pool of swamp water. Driven aground decades ago during a particularly violent storm that flung the ship several hundred feet into the flooded swamp. The ship itself is a two-masted Chelish sailing vessel with strange, faded writing on its bow. The ship itself is quite old—it crashed here several decades ago.
As you approach the you can smell rotting wood and you hear the sinister sound of barking and horse snorting. You are unable to discern the source of the sound or how many creatures surround you, if at all. Due to the nature of this swampy area. it sounds like it's all around you.
The shipwreck itself is upright, held in place by the mud and sludge it now sits in and supported by thick growths of marsh gorse and other foliage. The derelict leans toward its stern at a noticeable but not unwieldy angle, and its railings are as decorated with hanging moss as they are with goblin skulls and bits of bone—leftovers from Vorka’s meals over the past several years.

![]() |

Removed Sickened condition
Rancor Yelps. Its not the sound of the dogs and horses that scare him so much as the mutilated Goblin remains as decorations. He draws the Gorge of Gluttons and casts Guidance on himself as a precaution, then takes a place next to Zord. If Zord makes eye contact, Rancor brushes it off like he's in the way but its pretty obvious Rancor is relying on Zord for protection.

Zarkus Farslayer |

Zarkus will examine the ground around the gate, seeing if he can tell what sort of creatures might be loose inside and their numbers.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Survival (Tracking): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 10 +1 to track, and +2 if animal

![]() |

Moved Rancor 1 space to the left next to Zord and Zarkus.
Rancor Grips the Gorge of Gluttons in both hands whispers:
"This place no look like it has fireworks. Goblins should carry on and find fireworks somewhere else."
He looks around his surroundings trying to determine the direction or location from which he heard the Goblins least favorite animals.
Perception Check (Dogs and Horses only): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

![]() |

On entering the area the goblins realize that what they heard was not merely their imagination. As they enter the fencing around the shipwreck a horse comes into view. The horse is a filthy, dark gray stallion whose feet have churned the region within the fenced area into a thick morass of mud.
Cap: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

![]() |

Zord and Rancor enter the area near the shipwreck. Stomp watches the Goblins and takes a few steps forward to see how the goblins react.
He then sees two more goblins appear. Cap and Zarkus appear next to the their companions weapons at the ready.
Round 2:Zord and Rancor you can make your posts.
