Celestine carefully focused on her powers. While maintaining her field of fortune with one hand, she made a slashing motion with the other, sending a bolt of energy at the closer guard. Turning his back on her probably hadn't been the best idea...

Sholano's legs nearly buckled as the guard slammed him again, catching him across the brow this time. Blinking rapidly, he stumbled forward just behind the latest gout of fire. Still on his feet, if only barely, he lashed out at the nearest guard with the blade in his hand.

@Marvin: because of how line effects work, you're unable to hit both guards. On a positive note, the one you did hit is very dead, even if he makes his saving throw. :-)

Burned and battered by magic, one guard collapses limply to the ground. The other suffers a vicious kick to the throat from Erick. Although Hal and Linus' attacks miss, the guard realizes he's in a very precarious spot and quickly backs out of range. Pulling a signal horn from his belt, he gives it a mighty blow. From downstairs, you faintly hear a dog begin to bark.

Reinforcements will arrive in six rounds

Without hesitating, Celestine sent another bolt of force arcing through the air, towards the remaining guard. If they could get him out of the way, then hopefully everyone else could be gotten out of the chains. She really did need some bodies between her and the other guards...

Sholano shook himself, clearing his head from the blows he'd taken. Nodding to Celestine, he gestured towards the guards and stepped over the fallen towards Linus, raising the thieves' tools again. "If you would, search them for keys."

"There we go." He flipped the dagger in his hand to hold it by the blade, offering it to Linus with a flourish. "Here's hoping you're as good as you say: looks like you're going to get some practice soon." Waving towards the guards, he said, "If we're particularly quick, we might be able to salvage something out of this little fiasco - I'm going to keep working on these shackles, but somebody needs to strip them down and check them for gear. Fast."

Linus smiles as the shackles leave his wrists. "Thank you, friend. I wont forget this." He takes the blade and twirls it a few times in his hand. "But I think that guard has something more well suited for me." Linus looks through the downed guards things, looking for a sword.

He flashed Erick a friendly smile. "Right then, let's get you out of those."

Celestine exhaled sharply, then focused on her powers, gripped the air, and physically pulled it apart to reveal a space where any items nobody wanted to carry could be stored. "Pick what you want - we can use or sell the rest later." she said. Time was short, after all - and this was far more exciting than she'd dared hope.

Erick grows slightly excited as Hal approaches him with the lockpicks. Rattling his chains he arches forward to make it an easier reach for the half-elf.

Hearing one of the picks crack instead of the lock tumbler Erick's smile turns into a frown. We will have to spend some time and get you better at this now won't we? It's ok pressure does this to most men. He says returning his smile.

Nodding his head at the lock. Give her another go. You got this.

After a moment's extra work, the lock finally clicks on Erick's shackles, and Sholano nods to the freed human. "Naturally."

Darting across the chamber to return to Zyxtyvia's locks, he notes the swords on the ground and reflexively snags the dagger back from Linus along the way. As he examines the elven woman's shackles one more time, he tosses a wink over his shoulder to Marvin. "Ladies first, my friend - you understand." Slipping the dagger between his teeth, he sets to.

From this angle, he notices a bit of rust or debris of some sort he hadn't seen before holding a tumbler stuck closed. Scraping it free, the lock finally gives way, and he almost breathes a sigh of relief before remembering himself. Instead, he offers the lady a swift little bow, then turns back to Marvin.


Erick has 2rds of actions now that he's free. Zyxtyvia has 1rd now that she's free. Sholano's out of actions. Once everyone else has posted, I'll update Gameplay.

Marvin waited patiently as the others were released from their shackles. "I think I hear people coming, someone make sure they can't shut the door again and trap us in here. And someone start shoveling the guards equipment into that hole; we're going to need everything we can get our hands on if we want to get out of here."

I think I should have 1 round after guards arrive before my transformation expires. 3 rounds of not maintaining, and 6 before they arrive.

Erick spends a moment stretching as he had been stuck in an awkward position for many hours.

Nodding to Marvin he places himself by the door, just around the corner. I won't let them past, just hurry so we can get out of here.

Positioning himself by the door Erick feels the cold stone of the wall across his back. Calming himself he listens for an approaching guard.

Readied Action if a guard comes near the cell door:

Erick reaches out and grabs ahold of the guard's neck and quickly clamps one hand around his mouth. Shhhh. Shhhh. It will all be over soon enough. Hehehe

Zyxtivia thanks the thief and touches his cheek to give him a bit of guidance before the witch stays by the wall in case the escape fails...


The barking grows louder, and as Zyxtyvia comes free, a quartet of guards led by two large dogs come rushing down the hall. Seeing your cell door open, unchained prisoners, and two dead men inside, they charge toward you, shouting loudly. The first one to reach the doorway is immediately grabbed by Erick.

Your turns - except for Erick, whose readied action just triggered.

"Duck," Marvin said to Sholano, only a moment for a final blast of fire belched forth.

Last fire breath before my transformation ends, down the diagonal so it doesn't hit us, it's only going to get the grappled guy I think.

Erick's prisoner thrashes about wildly but is unable to escape the madman's grasp. He's promptly wounded by Linus' blade. One of the other guards pushes past them (evading Linus' attack in the process) and attempts to club the kitsune. As he does so, Celestine's blast strikes him in the small of the back, knocking his blow terribly askew.

Your turns. Since sleep is a full-round action, it will go off immediately before Zyxtyvia's next post. Make sure to indicate where it's centered. Don't forget about line-of-sight.

@Marvin: Because of how the line template works, you can only hit the guard if you include Linus or Erick in the area of effect.

After a moment of observing her handiwork, Celestine focused on twisting fate again. That had been a pretty good shot, but honestly, her blasts weren't accurate enough to consistently strike targets ducking and weaving wildly in melee, and she didn't want to risk hitting one of the meat-shields.

Switching to maintaining Serendipity. All allies within range (20 ft of Celestine) gain a +1 luck bonus to attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws.

I thought it could start at the corner of my space and go down 2, right 1, etc., etc., until reaching the end of the line.

Maintaining a good hold on the guard Erick grabs a hold of his neck and wrenches the man forward, slamming his knee directly into his face.

As Marvin's hands slipped free of the manacles, red scales erupted along his forearms and his hands twisted into black taloned claws. The older man looked up at Sholano with a far toothier grin and rasped, "Thanks," before surging forward to join the fray.

He dodges Linus' blade but only has time for a hasty (and extremely inaccurate) swing before the terrifying dragon man is on him.

Celestine did indeed move, angling to stay behind the others while bringing her Serendipitous field closer to the others so she could help aid all of them. Wasn't much point in only aiding one or two of them, after all, and it was a better move than flinging bolts into the melee. She didn't really want to knock out one of her associates by accident.
