Harold the Herald |

That is a better deal than I have here, would you like me to show you a path past these Goblins in there. I can show you an path; though it is dangerous, filled with fearsome spiders, they, unlike these goblins, will raise no alarm or alert. from there, there are several paths to the lower areas. I often go between tribes to carry messages and make proclaimations on behalf of the Big Bosses.

Gloisil Murigel |

"Harold, if you could get us past these goblins and at least closer to our goal, I think we all would be greatly appreciative. There are dangers aplenty on any path we may take, but one that raises no alarm is better in my mind then one that wakes the world with it's warning."
"Well I think now it is time for us to meet face to face as I think that we need to either join you on that side of the door, or you need to join us on this side."

Harold the Herald |

Ok, we are agreed then, great maker watch over us, come in quietly and follow me.
Taking you at you word; he will open the door, step back; turn around and motion for you to follow him. He is heavily cloaked in layers of tattered material; his footsteps lound like on hoof and one large clawed foot; his pack us hunched and there is a row of somthing finlike or arched along his bent backbone is best you can guess. He walks with a lurch as his left side is smaller than his right.
As he moves; you notice behind the door is a anteroom about 20x20; there are four sleeping goblins in this room; the exit straight accross has no door, but a chain link partitian that would noisily move aside to allow access.
Harld moves to a defaced dwarven carving on the wall; once a map of the outside area of the Hold; it is covered in filth and blood and has been hammered upon and obscene things written in Goblin.

Gloisil
1d20 ⇒ 18

Valegrim |

The quietly shambling figure moves to the wall and makes some motions; Gloisil think he can figure it out; but no one sees the secret passageway until it opens very quietly. a wall slowly moves and there is a small iron ladder down through the floor. Harold continues down the ladder.
all pc's coming into the room post your actions; if your following and trying to be quiet; post a sneak roll.
Is anyone going to tell Mox? There is the possibility he will wake things up trying to follow you on his own...
------
GM note; this is not the exact template for this Herald; but is one from another game and a mob type that is very similar in some respects.

Gloisil Murigel |

Gloisil enters the room and follows Harold to a wall with a defaced dwarf map of the fortress that they are in. He just catches Harold touching something on the wall and isn't quite as surprised when a door to a secret passageway opens in front of them.
As Gloisil comes up to Harold he says, "Harold, we may have one problem. There is another of our party that is down at the base of this fortress 'occupying' the goblinattentionon. It may be better if he were to come with us now, his name is Mox."

Sunset |

Sunset pads along, bare feet making virtually no noise within the confines of the place. Her eyes dart about as she seeks to find the buggy critters before they find her.
Perception:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
"Would a spot more light be of any helpin'?" She whispers cautiously.
Not sure if Sunset's 'Dancing Lights' spell has worn out yet. I'm kind of assuming it has...

Gloisil Murigel |

Sorry, forgot my move silently check. Move Silently: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Uhm, I think that didn't go very well...
If my poor move silently check didn't wake the whole hall of goblins, then Gloisil will move into the passage and look out for spiders, as he says:
"Thank you Harold, I'm afraid that if he were left to search for us on his own, he would awaken every denizen in this forsaken dwarf city in his effort to find us."
Else he will prepare himself for a fight by pulling out his wand and say:
"Sorry, Harold but it looks as if the end has come sooner than we thought."

Desidera Tahn |
There was some uncertainty as Desidera made her way into the hall, looking at the sleeping forms and trying to be quiet on her feet, something that she had little practice with. The majority of her practice had come recently, since she arrived down here. She tried to re-imagine that game she had played as a child, the one where she tried to sneak through the house to look in on her father conducting business...
She most often did get caught, but this time, she hoped it would not be so.
Move silently:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

it has, there is a cantrip called bluelight; which is a small blue light of 5' radiance that doesnt hurt low light or darkvision and allows dim light for those who cannot see in the dark. I give wizards all the cantrips but hadn't really given any thought to sorcerers or bards.
Lets try this out; sorcerers can use five cantrips a day and bards one; if you invest a first level spell in cantrips; then it grants 5 more cantrips.

The party waits down the steps {let me know if you doing anything besides waiting; the workman tunnel goes both directions; it is a 8' cylindar like a tube. It is dark; there are machine oil smells; a rubbling, some vibration and many webs; some like old cobwebs; some newer and stronger. they are ropey and individual strands are the size of twine.
wandering monster roll.......
Harld shuffles off to retrieve Moxx
how long will the party wait?

Valegrim |

After a few minutes Hardold come down the ladder and whispers to Gloisil
"may I present; Mox and associates of the Broken Toe Clan"
Moxx hops down the hole and sniffs around; 5 other goblins with big swollen toes on their heavily, almost silly heavy, bandaged left feet come down the hole; there is low growl from the goblins at the party; but Moxx taps his stick on one of their heads and growls and they stop and hang their heads.
Nasty Bug smell
pokes a thick strand of web with his stick
This way, please says Hardold who shuffled down the tunnel, after about 10 minutes walk; you come to a sealed hatch in the floor if someone could open this please
str roll from whomever opens the floor hatch; it is iron set in stone. Two people can try; one aiding the other.

Gloisil Murigel |

"Yes Sunset, we should give Harold some time to retrieve Mox.
When Harold returns with Mox and five other goblins, Gloisil is some what surprised, but just nods to Mox as he comes into the tunnel.
Following behind Harold as they start down the tunnel, Gloisil pauses for a minute waiting for one of the stronger party members to offer to open the hatch. Gloisil then suggests, "Perhaps we could tie a rope to it, and allow more of us to assist in opening this hatch. I'll certainly be glad to lend a hand, but I'm fairly sure I could not do it on my own."

Gloisil Murigel |

With a slight smile on his face Gloisil says, "Sunset, by now you should know there isn't anything in this place that is safe. Including the object that we've been sent to find, which is why we need to get it."
"We're just going to have to trust Harold to be able to lead us there."
Gloisil turns to Mox and says, "Mox, can a couple of your clansmen open that door?"

Sunset |

Sunset frowns, her lips pursing in thought as Gloisil and the Goblins begin to work upon the door. Her eyes look left, right and above as she takes in the corridor's features all about them.
Perception:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
And she shrugs, hugging Desidera as she nods "Aye, prolly perfectly safe, then."
Framulous last words from the parties Moral Officers. :P

Valegrim |

lol Sunset hehe
Mox gets his boyz to try to open the door; but there not too bright; some are standing on the door; some turn one way; the others the other way looks like soon they will start yelling at it; arguing and beating on it as they have low frustration levels...well, like a chaotic gaggle of goblins.
The dark ork sneers, shut yer holes er I shut em for yea he whispers with an intimidating grunt.
no worries Honey Biscuit, I'zzel make sure dis sheet safe fer yea
str roll......the wheel on the door turns quietly and easily as it was very well built and seems to have been well greased thgough the outer grease seems very dry and contaminated.
He pulls on the hatch and it opens. A 4' hole in the ground with a steel ladder down. The sound of hammering is louder and a blast of warm air come through the hole carring smells of the forge.
hearing check for those who desire more info.
The Big Black Ork lears at Sunset they you be Biscuit, no bogey; no poison er shiit, safe as under yer bed n sheeet

Valegrim |

Mox gestures and the gobs go down through the hole and down the ladder very quickly with surprizing facility, agility and speed. Mox sticks his head in the hole....a few seconds later everyone hears screams, combat then silence..........
Uhmm....thats new says Harlold
Mox gives him a dirty look.

Gloisil Murigel |

Gloisil smiles at Sunset again, this time a big wide grin, although his eyes still show the seriousness of the situation.
"I'm sure your right Sunset, it's probably perfectly safe."
Gloisil watches with mild amusement as Mox's crew tries to open the hatch, until it looks like they are going to start fighting and then Gloisil starts to worry. But soon Gloisil sees that Mox has his troops under control.
Gloisil then marvels as Mox opens the hatch all on his own, something he surely could not have done. And then ponders on how efficiently they head down the ladder.
Gloisil's wondering turns to surprise as screaming and battle sounds come from below where Mox's troops went.
"What is this Harold, What is going on?"
Listen (Gloisil): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21, Listen (Hoot): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Sunset |

Sunset does her best to ignore the hulking Orc, though at the sound of combat and such she's both saddened and possibly a little angry.
"Okeys, every one back from the hole. Some one might be comin' up t'see where they got a gang of Gobbies come droppin' on their heads!" She warns.
"Who's got somat big an' heavy t'drop?" She asks...and for a few seconds her eyes alight on the big Orc as is pondering just how much he weighs.....

Valegrim |

Gloisil; it was the Black Ork who opened the hatchway.
hehe Sunset; good one.

Sunset |

Sunset hops nervously from foot to foot.
"Well....who ever's on'a bottom of the ladder knows somat's up here..." She frets, then tilts her head,
"Ye dunt s'pose th' poor we, lil buggers ran afoul of a trap, does ye?" She asks.
That Orc does not know how much of a world of hurt a very angry Sunset is going to bring down upon his shoulders. An Elf (Especially a 'Suny' Elf) is not some one you want to make angry at one's self.

Sunset |

Hope other folks are doing swell and are able to post their ideas and such. (^_^) Big *Hugz* To all...
Sunset frowns, though at what part of the parties conundrums is unsure...
"We's got's ta go forwards...but...what ever be forwards be down an' very probably ready. We's need some one a tad more sneaky like..." She ponders out loud.

Gloisil Murigel |

"Wait, before you go down, let's try this to get an idea of what we are facing."
Gloisil then casts dancing lights and directs them to move down the ladder and into the area below the hatch. If whatever is down there "attacks" the lights, then hopefully we'll see what it is.
Gloisil says, "Luces dançantes" as he waves his hands in a bobbing motion. Four lights appear in the air around him, looking like the torches or lanterns that the party might employ. After concentrating for a moment the lights start moving down the ladder and into the area where the combat took place.
"Well let's see if they are still hungry? Be watchful and perhaps we'll see what we are up against."

Sunset |

Sunset hugs her clever Gnome friend, then lies down and leans out over the top of the shaft, the better to look down and see what's happening below. (^_^)

hmm getting a lack of real players..... I got no responses fro mthe peeps who were supposed to join up; shoulda met them in the Boss room but they never responded.
Sunset; make a listen roll please
Gyldyr says "quite all, there is something......" imperious tone.

Valegrim |

Ok; lets make a quick list of who is here:
Sunset - Sea elf pc
Mox - Goblin npc with his new followers (maybe)
Kurg - Black Orc npc
Elysdyne - Human Celtic Knight; currently npc'd
Koridur - Dwarf warrior; currently npc'd
Gloisil - gnome pc
Desidera - human Greek/Roman healer pc
Gyldyr- Drow necromancer; currently npc'd
did I miss anyone; thing is I would like pc's to take over some players as having me npc three critical parts of the group tend to wreck scenarios as a pc should really lead and warrior tyeps generally do that. School should be over for Elysdyne so maybe he will be back and maybe not. but I am hoping someone wil take over Koridur and Gyldyr for the time being.
