ok; hehe was a bit confused; thanks
Valegrim wrote:cool; will check back again this eve then if I can; am going to need your background rolls also :)for inheritance and family and stuff like that. She has already gotten her rolls and response back from you earlier.

how are you going to generate spells that are in your spell book; I dont remember if 3.5 has a method
you can do this if you like:
pick one spell of attack; defense and information gathering/non combat use for each spell you know up to the max you can learn and that is in your spellbook; this should give you a few spells to choose from.
Also; give me another percentile roll please?
this spell stuff is also usuable for any other players who learn and memorize spell that learned from a tutor/school ect.
Finished filling in the profile, I just looked at it and realized I forgot my spell info so I will add that later tonight. I will also finish my background.

I have a map I would like to find a what to put up so everyone can see; but dont know much about this kind of stuff; is anyone up on this so I could scan and send you some map stuff and you might take care of it or show me how? Either way. I would like to give you guys an idea of what the world looks like and where each of you are from and where you are now so that as you learn things it can all fit into place. Some of this would have to be in spoilers; meaning I dont mind if you read other peoples spoilers, but I will penalize you if it comes out in the game; almost never happens, but stay in character with what your character knows not what you know as as player please. For instance; the Elves have map notes for political areas that various races control that almost nobody else knows about; most elves are up on this sort of stuff; they might not know it personally; but they have a general idea of what political powers are in what areas of the world. So any elf knows for instance that the central region of the southern continent with the Well of Life; is populated by dinosaurs and wild elves and in vast caverns underneath are the central powers of where the Dark Elves are and where the Demon Spider Queen Lolth did live and take the elves she suduced. They know that the eastern part of the continent is a vast area of Orcs races and a few of their heroes and might recognise some of their tribes; they are one of the few races and cultures who have this kind of general political knowledge; dwarves have it too, but nobody is playing one; and dwarves have it from and entirely different perspective; they dont care about politics and cultures as much, but are very kin oriented and keep a book of grudges so know not only their enemies, trading partners and allies, but also that of thier kin.

Valegrim |

K; have not looked up that class yet to review; have read it in the past just dont remember every detail.
Ok; while you and your master/tutor/instructor repected each other; you didnt really get along. It would be appropriate that you would have considered him to have his mind on other things all the time and wasnt really focused or excited to have you as his student.
Percentage roll 33
Warmages don't prepare spells, they have a certain number of spells they can cast from each day.

hay Val sence you are looking for more players I was thinking on playing a rogue. I have a couple ideas for a non standard race the one i am leaning toward is Doppelganger from the races of destiny pg 93 its a +4 race, next was a Tiefling from the same book pg 107 its a +1 race going for lawful neutral for both of these races and the other one is Goliath from the races of stone book pg 56 is where the racial traits are at, its also a +1 race.
Let me know if any of them are ok or non as the case may be. I might get Naomi to play as well dont know yet though.

GM NOTE: no, was camping last four days; will get this rolling soon; gotta go to court next 5 hours; hope to get things rolling tomorrow at least and give more details of the area and personaes and fit everyone into their starting positions
np kormath; write it up; call me or text as you need; note; try to keep the info you know within character unless you clear it with me or take a bunch of histories and stuff like that; one question; you gonna be a guilded rogue? I think you know what I mean and what guild.

so i got most of the character going just need to place it in the sys but figured ill let you know and get some background roles out of the way. As to your Guild question Val, yes i would be part of that guild under this name and look. New to the profession as i only have 1 level in rogue. My location roles are 2,4 and 6,1 and my % are 65, 75, 82, 100, 100, 45, 10, 66, 83, 98. My current persona is male elf trapsmith useing daggers and hand crossbow and no physical armor, fresh out of being an apprentace. will figure out any other cover story depending on rolls remember i am a dopplogainer in reality for the family stuff dont know if you will have for the profession stuff in the back ground.

ok; your birth location is the map of the Holy Cities; ooh what fun hehe and your home has been decimated; remember that giant horde of bad guys that came of the the City State of the Invicible Overlord and made a band accross the gap between the two oceans and made attacks on the Elf homeland and some foreys into the area of the Holy cities; well; you are from that spot; As the area is always well patrolled; your family would have been evacuated. Your recruiter and trainer is named Kalidor the Sheive a rogue and bard; he is good at both, but tends to get distracted by love, heroic quests, and court intrigue and your local Guild Master is Sir Buckhorn of the Wheel; think Teamsters wtih this guy; owns wagons; wheelsmiths; blacksmiths and has several transportation contracts with all the right people as well as the primary rights of shipping of an army is raised. He also owns or controls many banks; jewelers and exotic dealers as well as sweatshops for cloth and many handlers who deal with entertainers of various sorts. Being in the Holy Cities; this type of works has a very thick lawful veneer; all contracts and paper trails; all apparently above board but stinks to high heavon; most of these guys are not tuff; not enforcer types; sure there are a few; but who wants to pick a fight with a paladin; politeness and groveling ie bluff is the watchword; outright murder in this area is rare and always contracted out to someone not in the region. codes, locks, and survielance are primary skills here as well as trade; everything here is regimented down to the least capable beggar; your estimation is that Sir Buckhorn makes a lot of money; a whole lot of money; the Holy Cities after all are very wealth; he has both right hand and left hand agents working for him; his guards are all human; he is a half elf; he frequently dines with mid range nobility and his manor house is well fortified and he as a reputable mercenary force guarding it; he does not do business from his house.
Kalidor, and you having been his apprentice, sleeps everywhere and anywhere, mostly for free; he mostly has you carry stuff for him, be it stolen goods or his intruments so he can wheel and deal; he is a very good trainer; tells you what he seeks to accomplish and how he plans to do it; they you watch and see how thing progress; he plans everthing and never so much as steals anything opportinistically; he is somewhat paranoid; fears the Guardian, Tuesday was your free day; you have no idea what he does on Tuesday though you have tried your best to find out; he is just way to hard to track or follow. you have traveled with various retinues in the company of Kalidor all over the Holy Lands from glimpses of the Elflands in the north to the outposts of the Caliph of Arabia in the sw.
your parents were married; you are the third son of 9 children; you are a rising star in your family; they were Middle class farmers and land owners of both grapes and olives for sale and the regular stuff for subsistance; your Uncle loves you like his own first son; on his frequents trips from one of the great holy cities; he and his teamsters would come to get your father's goods; and he would take you back to the city and show you things and spoil you rotten; he would show you how to use graft and extortion to get a little ahead; but not take to much advantage; calling it a Tax for the Poor; consider you uncle as teamster middle management; got about 15 guys working for him; eats in a big local restraunt with other teamster middle management; everyones crew eat around them; all like family all tough hard working guys trying to get their slice of the pie; hehe not uncommon to hear people working on new scams; how to block this or that city gate looking for a bribe one way or another. Now your Grandfather, well; not only do you and he not get along; he is severe and has tried many times to beat this corruption out of you; he is neither kind nor gentle; nor is he necessarily harsh or vidictive; but you fear him and try to avoid him and his house; he has terrified you since you were a child; his paladin virtues are far to unforgiving and inflexible to your tastes.
ok; more later; but basically ;you will be given a box to deliver to Bones at the Well of Life.

your character should be 5th level.

Because I am a Doppelganger are my hole family doppelgangers or are they human/half elven. Also do I have any problems going into the City with the Gardian.

Ummm... I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but a dopplganger with a level of rogue is a 9th level character (1 rogue +4 monster HD +4LA (for special abilities).
Yes, those monster levels each count as a level before the level adjustment. You could use the doppleganger monster class and be 4th level in it, but you won't have all your dopplegangery powers.
This is a common misconception that caused a huge fight in my tabletop group, which is why I know enough about it to mention it.
It doesn't explain that under the doppleganger (in Races of Destiny) but it's kind've implied by the fact that the LA +4 doppleganger has 8 monster class levels.
It is better explained in Races of Faerun under some of the more exotic available races there (I don't have the book in front of me, but I think both the bugbear and the wemic have a LA and monstrous HD, and they explain that the two add.
I don't mind if you want to play a 9th level character, I'd just like to get in on that action.
It's kind've summed up here:
From page 172 of the Dungeon Master's Guide:
Add a monster's level adjustment to its Hit Dice and class levels to get the creature's effective character level, or ECL. Effectively, monsters with a level adjustment become multiclass characters when they take class levels. Characters with more than 1 Hit Die because of their race do not get a feat for their first class level as members of the common races do, and they do not multiply the skill points for their first class level by four. Instead, they have already received a feat for their first Hit Die because of race, and they have already multiplied their racial skill points for their first Hit Die by four. Use ECL instead of character level when referring to Table 3-2: Experience and Level-Dependent Benefits in the Player's Handbook to determine how many experience points a monster character needs to reach its next level. Also use ECL with Table 5-1: Character Wealth by Level to determine starting wealth for a monster character.

everyone just points the way to the Ice Pyramid; it is like 500 ft tall and though you cannot see it it tops the treeline. Scholars argue if it floats on the mud and water or not and how far down into the earth it goes; lots of discussion on why it doesnt melt or appears to not melt; Baelinor is always just an oddity and footnote in most conversations.
Politicking I like it. Do I know where to find this Balinor?

Seldriss |

I don't want to intrude in your game, Valegrim, but as i was lurking i noticed some mention to the finnish goddess of the woods and a question about halfling gods.
So if i may :
- The goddess name is Mielikki (pronounced "my-lee-ki"). She happens to be present on Toril too, for reference.
- Brandobaris is the halfling god (demigod in some versions) of adventure and rogues. He would fit the trickster role.
Enjoy your game, guys :)

ThoronHen |

there are all kinds of doppelganger from various books and sources from templetes to monsters lesser; greater; whatnot; which are you using as your source.
from the races of destiny pg 93. its the one that has the 4 monster hd and the +4 level adjustment. If the race wont work as is i will change it to the teifling instead its in the same book pg 107. This race will still work with the background that we have ill be 4th level rogue as its a +1 level adjustment race.my "base" race will just be human and my infernal heritage feature are pointed ears and high cheekbones that i use disguise to further inhance to make it look like i am half elven.

ok so i changed everything to changling out of the emberon books. mostly simulair but with out the stat bonus and the detect thoughts, and the shape change is more limited ie more cosmetic. will be placing the rest of the info in the profile tonight while at work. the last language is for the reagion language of the holy citys but i do not remember where it is on the maps to get the language from your discription on the other page.

There is no prime language for the holy cities; the three main spoken tounges are Valanese; Altanian, and Lenapian pretty much equally; both elf and dwarf are also spoken by most inhabitants.

will give you items when your char is finished; the box and instructions were given to you by Sir Buckhorn.
Instructions: Thoron; go in find Mr. Bones; he is on assignment at or near the Well of Life in the Southern Continent of the Ghinor Highlands; here is a Ghinor phrase scroll; make contact with him and give him this box; then follow his instructions; if Mr. Bones is deceased, Locate Koob with the same instructions; find Nikolai; Mr Fingers; or Sticks in that order if Koob is not alive and they will direct you to a ranking member for instructions.

Sorry about that we have had graduation and some other stuff going on. He checks the posts every few hours and some times there is a day or two between my posts but we usually keep each other in the loop if it is our turn to post or not. Usually once the game gets going a bit then there is more posting. We will keep up on it a little better, once again sorry about that.

Rama is presently at the village. Perhaps you can have us all meet there, or at the ice pyramid.
Ahh you want to hang out with the pretty elf...However I think that having us meet him in the village or at the pyramid would be a great way to tie us together a bit.(Can Rama speak with the locals??)
